You can't see Rome in a day (But we're apparently trying to) - What's Rome like in 2021?

  • For being as hilariously jetlagged as we are, we sure are moving fast. Probably too fast. This video is our attempt at seeing far too much of Rome in one day. To be entirely honest, I'm not sure why we're seeing stuff at the pace that we are. I think it's primarily due to how expensive Italy has been, we feel like we can't really afford to stick around and see Rome slowly because we need to go somewhere a bit cheaper. That's caused us to have days like this one - where we go to 5 different areas all across Rome in the same day. It's certainly fun, but definitely not sustainable.
    This is a fast paced one, jam-packed with good info - we hope you like it :)

    Usual mistake of all tourists with Santa Maria Maggiore: that is the back of the Basilica, the entrance is from the opposite side (and it is even more impressive)

    So busy the Colosseum area? Trust me, you were lucky (ok, is hot but you're going to Rome in July/August ... so 🔥) because the city is empty (by tourist and romans).
    I hope you have a nice time in Italy (and hope you understand my "Google-eng").
    PS Little tip, the best months to visit Rome are March/April and September/October, ciao.

    Can you elaborate a little about GoogleFi? I was about to get it for a 6 month long trip but now…I’m rethinking since I have an iPhone. Can you make calls at all? What about making calls NOT on WiFi? Thanks so much for your help! Love the videos too :)

    • @LisaAndJosh
      @LisaAndJosh  3 года назад +2

      sure :) I love talking about this stuff!
      So, this is all for Google Fi on iPhone, on the Flexible Plan -
      1. You can make calls, but they're over cellular. Calling over Wi-Fi just straight up does NOT work with Google Fi on iPhone no matter what you do, right now. I asked their support when it would be implemented (it used to work a few years ago), they couldn't tell me.
      2. Since you're making calls over cellular, a call from, say, Italy to the US would cost $0.20 cents per minute. Their calling rates vary, but every call would be at the X cents per minute rate.
      I can't really recommend this service any more for people who travel for long periods and have iPhones.
      Hope that helps! Ask away for any other questions you might have

    • @pooooolarbear
      @pooooolarbear 3 года назад

      @@LisaAndJosh thank you! That was very clear and helpful. One more question, will your family be able to call you, through your US cell phone number for free as if you’re still in the US while on GoogleFi?

    • @LisaAndJosh
      @LisaAndJosh  3 года назад

      Yep! :) you can definitely receive calls, but it’s still 20 cents per minute, even with inbound.
