It's so fascinating to me that even though we are almost a generation apart,Call of Pripyat had a similar effect on us,not to mention we live on opposite sides of the globe . That's the effect of good art I suppose,it transcends generations and speaks to the human experience.
His name was Volodymyr Yezhov, he worked on Stalker Clear Sky, Call of Pripyat and before going to war on Stalker 2, he also worked on Cossacks and Call of Cthulhu, and he was the face of Loki in Call of Pripyat, the leader of Freedom faction.
Damn man. So I was a big fan of STALKER from 2004 on. I played the og, even had to put it down for bugs to get worked out before I could play it without crashing, and then I absolutely fell in love. It's a part of my identity. You truly enlightened me about something profound. As a gamer I have explored Mars, Hell, Lambda complex, Eastern Europe, and Ukraine, in these amazingly innovative first person experiences, each bringing about new modes of narrative delivery, and new modes of storytelling through a FPS perspectives. And I frankly can't think of an FPS that has pushed narrative design quite like STALKER, HL2, HL1, Doom, etc, and that is partly why I have found the gaming industry so stagnant and boring. I truly hope STALKER 2 delivers a groundbreaking experience for us. You're video essay was absolutely fantastic. Thank you for the effort you put into this!
The X-labs are certainly trying to scare you, the player. Why else would they have that baby crying, the poltergeists and the fucking telekinetic dwarves!?
The way of some people understanding the true meaning of something regardless if its a game, job, love, story, experience..etc makes me astonishing and want to achieve that as them but in my way this a great video its more a lesson than guidance. you explain why games are become more boring than ever when you bring Far cry 6 as an example which you were so accurate I literally finished Far cry 3 more than 10 times on PC and on my Xbox and I would do it again if I had the chance because it's topnotch game and Skyrim V , Stalker trilogy too thanks for this wonderful video explaining corporate greed problem and finally (how, why, where, what, when) to enjoy playing video games over and over
The part you mentioned about map and looking at the rules of the world, try the 2007 The Darkness game, you'll see what I mean in the navigation trying to find an address. I was lost and then realized what would I do if I was lost in a street? read the signs. It's not just that, it's got one of the most powerful depictions of a loving romantic relationship in a game.
I think the only game that I would say equal to Call of Pripyat in how organic and real the world is, with the depth of characters and factions, would be Fallout New Vegas Like STALKER, it does respect the player and doesn't at all hold the player's hand
As a Brit, I can say that you're one of the few Americans I know who can actually do a pretty decent British accent lol Edit: Actually technically not American? But your usual accent seems to be American
haha yeah, that's correct, I'm not US American, but I am kind of Latin American (of Levantine and Spanish ancestry) so it's just that there's no accent that I'm *supposed* to have, I guess, even in my own country people don't think I have a fully native accent despite never having lived anywhere else. I just speak the way I heard while learning and since I was taught English by folks from the US that's what I got... I guess I can do the British accent because I watched a lot of movies and played a lot of games with British characters: Harry Potter, the old Call of Duty games, Monty Python... but yeah, I've always found accents to be so much fun to learn. Anyway, thanks for watching, don't mind me being chatty and rambly.
in one word? MISERY. If the other two could have a graphic/pace/dificulty overhaul like misery, anyone could get the story of the games but with a true terrifying vibe.

Dropped a tear on a moment about the soldier that was stalker developer😢

Gonna give it a go! Looks like it can only be played by emulation or dusting off the old consoles, right?

Thanks for the video! I'm from Ukraine and I want to say that your ukrainian is very good (it's pleasantly to hear you know)
I need to be honest, I do not speak Ukrainian very well. I can understand a little bit and say a bit less, but I'm working on it to know more!
@@cantgameright Good luck! Бажаю успіхів у вивчанні мови!))
