- Yasmine Ahmed, UK Director of Human Rights Watch, delivered this statement at the 2024 Conference of Civil Society Organisations working on the Question of Palestine, themed "Building Bridges with International Civil Society to Address the Ongoing Nakba." This event was convened by the UN Palestinian Rights Committee on April 3-4, 2024, at the Palais de Nations in Geneva. In her speech, Yasmine Ahmed highlighted the dire situation in Gaza and the broader region, spotlighting the decades-long impunity and the disturbing levels of international complicity in crimes against the Palestinian people.
Yasmine Ahmed emphasized, "We are witnessing the sixth month of ongoing atrocities in Gaza, amidst decades of crimes, including apartheid inflicted on the Palestinian people by Israel." She pointed out the grim statistics: "Over 30,000 Palestinians have been killed, and 72% of the over 70,000 injured are women and children." She starkly criticized the international community’s response, describing it as "at best impotent and at worst complicit."
Highlighting the severity of the humanitarian crisis, she noted, "As we sit here today in Geneva, #Gaza is literally starving," and accused Israel of using "starvation as a weapon of war." She condemned the acceleration of crimes in the West Bank and described the diminishing hopes for a two-state solution as "dead in the ocean of the destroyed Palestinian future."
In a strong critique of her own country, she said, "The United Kingdom has failed to discharge its responsibilities and comply with its obligations and in fact has consistently attempted to block accountability of Israel for its crimes." Her call to action was clear, urging for an immediate arms embargo and broader sanctions against Israel.

If you don't know history in 1947 5 Arabs army started war against the jewish state. The leaders of the Arabs league say before the war that all the land will be with rivers of the jewish blood. What about 850000 jews refugees from Arabs countries that came to Israel after they suffered from pogroms and Humiliation in the Arabs countries. And the jews really lived in the Arabs countries for generations not like most of the Arabs that arrived to palestina in the 19th century. See potos from the 18th century and read what Mark Twin wrote about the land in the 19th century. If you want examples of pogroms in the Arabs countries learned about the Farhud in irak from 1941. learn about the Trital in marocco in the city of fez in 1912. Learn about the pogrom in Morocco in the city of ojda from 1948. And many other pogroms and Humiliation that the jews suffered in the Arabs countries.

In Canada, and I am certain in many other countries, one core issue are groups who assist illegal colonies (read: colonies that violate the UN established green line) and even groups who utterly sell illegal land during events in Canada! Those actions are totally illegal under international law, and have been for 70 years, as requested by the UN Security Council. Western States are grossly responsible for pretending to be for two States but doing almost nothing to counter Israel's military conquest of over 60% beyond the green line, massive Human Rights violations (such as Administrative Detention), occupation of the West Bank, blockade of Gaza, etc. etc. etc.
