    This story here is the first of how many I do not know that I will listen to today
    Today is the first Day of a brand new year., the year of 2018 [ This is No. 1 ]
    When anyone goes back in time and listens to the short masterpieces of CBS Mystery Theater, to what the writers created. Because today they cannot create something as well as they used too. Also not to forget all of the great actors that worked on all of these theatrical plays I do appreciate them each time I listen to them.
    If I went back and counted every one of them that I thanked in each comment,
    I know there must be at least 5000 on them or better.
    Well thank you once again, and on to the next CBS Mystery play From the Past.....

    Another great one. Plus H. Brown narrating. He usually directs them. Very cool.

    I wonder why some of the episodes don't have E. G. Marshall. Himan Brown is the narrator and some of the interstitial music is different.

      Himan Brown, producer-director reissued a number of the episodes in the late '90's and replaced the original E.G. Marshall narration with his own voice. I don't know why he did, but it really took a lot from the original episodes. Marshall was much better.

    (Comment contained a spoiler).
    When the gentleman in charge of the shipment of uranium refused to be examined by medical personnel I almost gave it a thumbs down and stopped listening. It just seemed as if there was about to be some sloppy writing. Yet, and I dont remember why, I continued to listen.
    I'm glad the story intrigued me enough. Because its definitely worth the time. Really enjoyed it. I'm glad it was (Spoiler!) a mad scientist and not some lame sy-fi twist.
    Why did they need the gold? Anyone?

    • @lalafl200
      @lalafl200 4 года назад +2

      Lol good question. The reason for the gold was never mentioned. Also, why kill that one guy outside the police station? He didn't remember anything just like the first guy

    I hate Himan Brown's voice so much. He was a talented, creative man, but I suspect this was purely and egotistical move on his part. E.G. Marshall was so superior. Maybe that really irritated him.

      I've heard some episodes in which the recording of Marshall's voice was either distorted or muffled; I could still understand him, but the sound quality was subpar. It could have been due to deterioration of the recording materials or some other factor(s). If Brown did re-record some of the narration, who knows why he chose to do it himself instead of (re-)employing Marshall. The latter was still acting until shortly before his death in 1998.

    Hyman Brown as the narrator.

  • @anaderol5408
    @anaderol5408 2 года назад +1

    Nope - Hayman Brown should stick to directing and/or producing and leave the narrating to those with a) more interesting voices b) to those who don't need to imitate those that went before him and c) to someone who does not sound like he's just run up a set of steep stairs. Hitchcock and Marshall he ain't. Irritating at best.

    Who is or was the author Percy Grainger? It can't possibly be the well known musician and composer who died in 1961.

    • @inkyguy
      @inkyguy 5 лет назад +3

      I just found the answer. His name as spelled "Granger," without the "i" of the famous composer's name. He was a playwright of some renown who lived and worked in New York City. He died quite prematurely of a heart attack at age 51 in 1997.
