It's not unusual for animals to know what helps them but why don't they show him actually doing this?

How many understand that the ape was deliberately wounded to see how does he treat it.
*Just the same they do with tribals.*
Sad,.... but true. ................................. This SoP in allopathy.
And when they say, "will observe more," it means more will be injured similarly.

This is not the 1st time primates used medicinal plant for medicine.
Some 9 lakh years ago, Jambvant told Hanuman ji to bring Mrit-sanjeevani to treat wounds and other healing purposes.
(Sorry folks who think it was Sushen who told. There are at least two versions of the incident.).

Is that tree among Salicaceae or Fabaceae families? Among known phytochemistry with pharmacologic properties & medicinal use.

I don't think its a first. I believe I heard that some grazing animals know what plant to eat in case of sickness probably stomach problems. Could be horses but I am not sure.

It proves that Apes and Human Beings are related. My own Grandfather looked like one. He looked like he was descended from Lord Hanuman"s Clan.

"He looked like ..." but you don't? .... Or you do; but find it difficult accept that you look like an ape?
If it is genetics, it should have shown on your face (more or less).
*Second possibility --* Face changes with what you think.
He must have thought of Hanuman ji a lot, may be meditated too.
