  • Father Martin talks about just how important "Step 3" is to the recovering person. I wanted to shared this with everyone as soon as this order arrived. Prior to this upload I never seen a full footage of any of Father Martin's videos. Enjoy this and share it with others. Best of luck to you all.

I first heard this talk in 1980. I still had no idea what was to come. At 58 I started to listen out of pure desperation. I'm now sober 24 months . There has been value in suffering. This teaching is brilliant.

The God of your Understanding will stay with you during your struggle and give you the strength to get through. He has with me. Mr. Martin said the newcomer alcoholics are afraid of God. That's a good thing because the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and the knowledge of the Holy one is understanding. Proverbs 9:10,/ If you don't fear the Lord you havent begun to be wise. / And we are not supposed to call anyone on earth Father.
And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven. Matthew 23:9/ Step 3 of Alcoholics anonymous promotes idolatry with "God as you understand Him". True Christians will never promote idolatry.. God's will is to believe in the one who He sent to save us. And if you want to hear from God, read your bible. I do not hear the voice of Mr. Martin, Bill Wilson or Dr. Bob, I hear the voice of and follow my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ

Step 3 made a decision ! who did ? the. people who wrote the Book ! a decision to do what ? to turn their will and lives over to the care of God as they understood God ( see Chap 4 B/Book ) ! how did they do that ? ( Thats Step 3 ) they took Steps 4 to 9 ! how long does that take ( typical alkie ) ? 2 days ? what !? its in the Book . they " LAUNCHED "out on a course of " VIGOROUS " action ( 4-9 ) 2 days !? FACT !! Who did it ? the people who wrote the Book ! a bunch of ex drunks who'd have screwed up a 2 car funeral ! argued were to put a full stop yet they wrote this Book in 11 mnths , approx . go figure !? Higher Power or what ?? 12 Steps ! 12 Statements of Fact based on the experience of the people who wrote the Book !! every Step begs a question , how did they do it ? and every question is answered in the first 103 pp of the Book . All fact .!! not opinion !? AA should supply a guide , the man on pp 18 , without whom little or nothing can be achieved , good luck with that !? AA doesn't work !! sad but true !! The Book does !! Take the first 9 Steps . practice 10 and 11 till it becomes intuitive ! thus you will recover and have a good life ! No Charge !! keep it simple !

I did not find this to be a good or particularly spiritual message from Father Martin, and it made me think maybe there’s a reason why AA speakers are alcoholics and don’t want wear the robes or garb of any specialized class. I don’t think you are grasping the overall concept of him explaining that a lot of alcoholics have a fear of when they hear the word “ God”..
