Gamers are what drive gaming. RUclipsrs can give games loads of publicity. So say PewDiePie or some other famous RUclipsr were to play a certain game. Now their fans could be interested in that game. It's very good publicity. And remember some RUclipsrs do RUclips to put food on their tables. It's their job. And it's built on their fanbases
I may be young... but remember the good old days, when the game in full? No loot boxes, no micro transactions, no DLC. Just the game came out as a complete game.
Yes, I was just thinking about the same thing. It's less and less likely you'll have to pay for a game once. Either you buy the extra content, or you have to wait two years for some shiny edition that has everything in it. If they release it in one package at all. Which is also seems to be less and less likely.

Hard drugs like heroin are psychoactive drugs which can destroy your life in as little as a month or you can overdose within minutes. Selling liquor is not seen as a shady thing because it's legal and regulated. But hard drugs are illegal and not regulated that's the difference. That's why people who sell liquor aren't looked down upon. It's a business. A little alcohol everyday doesn't harm anyone, infact it's actually good for you. But a little heroin can kill you and get you addicted fast. It's a completely different drug. False equivalency bro. It's not a bad example. It's not a bad example.
TheSarcasticOne I know! It's so rare to find someone who understands criticism. You don't just attack ad hominem, you use evidence and logic to prove your point while also outlining a damn fix.
Most of the poor kid's argument is centred around his own personal experience playing the game for 4 days, and this is the same mistake that almost every BF2 defender makes. They earn 60k credits in 4 days and think "What is everyone talking about? you get SO many credits, there isn't a grind at all!" without realising that the only reason they have earned that much in a short period of time is due to one-time bonuses from achievements, of which there are relatively few. Once you've done the achievements, you gain credits at a MUCH slower rate. Also, he is under the delusion that companies are so strapped for cash they need copious amounts of monetization to provide minimal "free" DLC. It's funny that a shooter like Splatoon 2 (with a vastly smaller install base and total sales number) can provide extensive free DLC which includes game modes, maps, cosmetics, progression items, and balance changes while having NO monetization scheme apart from the upfront cost of the game... and that is all a game should need. If you make a good game that people like, and update it with free DLC, more people are going to continually buy your game which provides further funding for more free DLC. The same argument is used to defend Overwatch's lootbox system and people who say they need it to provide free DLC completely ignore the fact that Overwatch still sells MILLIONS of copies per year, giving them profits (from game sales alone) that exceed the total development cost of GTA V (one of the most expensive games to develop in history). If Overwatch needs more than several million dollars a year to provide a few maps, and some skins, something is insanely wrong with their business model.
Jay RPG You mean that their business model is genious and that consumers are animals that can be herded to buy anything with enough flashy colours and wowza! Slogans.
Jay RPG no they need monetization to pay for their cosmetics which in turn is what you pay for when you buy a lootboxes. And before you say thats not necessary, overwatch devolopers have made thousands of cosmetic items that dont affect gameplay, and if anything gives you incentive to play more, like how call of dutys system, but because theres no real hero progression in overwatch like call of duty, your cosmetics become incentives
Thank you for mentioning Splatoon 2 business model! I always bring up to people talking about loot boxes and Season Passes that Splatoon 2 has been giving players a new weapon loadout every week, a new map every month, constant updates and balance changes, and NONE OF IT is behind a paywall!

Agreed with your response. I was pretty much following with the devil's advocate line until the point about how much time people have to play. From the beginning, it sounded like he had far more time to play than the average gamer, for him to unlock a hero in only a week, and to say that most gamers spend 3+ hours gaming per day. It's unrealistic. It does apply to the more serious gamers, or the kids who will spend all their free time on gaming, but anyone who does anything outside of just gaming, be it another hobby or a family commitment, will not have that time. In a sense, he's playing a different form of elitism - "I have more time than you do, so I deserve these things". It's a reasonably put together video, but the arguments are misinformed and sounds like someone who has bought into the loot box / microtransaction culture in gaming today.
"in four days of playing", yes, four days of playing the same game. over, and over, and over and over. Just to maybe get a skin. That's not a plus in his argument. It's a detriment.
There's a star card that gives you 40-100% damage resistance while activating an ability. (flying in the air, rocket launching with the bounty hunter or something)
You did a great job refuting his points without directly insulting him, but from hearing his video I find that he is not nearly as respectful, he is mostly doing a decent job of making his points but he frequently directly attacks people who disagree with him for being entitled or whiny children.
7:45 He's right that EA is not forcing you to pay money, but they are however psychologically making you want to buy lootboxes. Make the grind long, and offer lootboxes to gamble your way to unlock something you want. Psychology is a power tool that can make one want to do something in order to get a reward.
@@TainyaGaming But even within that, electronics have become harder and harder to repair, and the psychological trick is that they would rather you give into impatience and buy a new phone than deal with the difficulty of getting it fixed. It's the same concept. Granted, phones and tablets have genuine reasons for being tougher to repair in that they can make more integrated and thinner designs. But laptops soldering in RAM and storage when there are thinner upgradable options is ridiculous. My girlfriends laptop comes with 32GB of eMMC storage. For Windows 10. She can't even update it because it doesn't have enough. Acer reused the motherboard design and chassis between their cheap and expensive models, but opted not to solder on a SATA connector. There's literally a spot for a 2.5" drive and the connector and they decided to save just a little bit of cash to incentivize her to buy an entirely new laptop and generate eWaste. It's absolutely disgusting both from a consumer perspective and an environmental one.
I think I really like the act man for how much respect he showed to this man. He gave legitimacy to this youtuber as a person, as a human being. It is rarely seen to see such respect on the Internet. The Act Man did a very good job here because he refuted the arguments of this guy. He did not refute the guy himself. This video was not an attack, it was the discussion of a current problem between grown-up adults. Sure, the guy didn't have strong arguments in his video to support his point but this is the reason why the act man calmly and thoughtfully refuted them. I think we are very lucky to have Late Night Gaming and the Act Man as youtubers. These guys contribute to get the general point across and maybe have some change. The next step is bringing it to the Politics to have some action done and get the micro-transactions/req system/lootbox shit untangled and taken care of. It's already super nice to see even broadshit talking about it. Please Act Man, this is for you and for other followers like me. I would like to have a Justice League/Avengers team of famous gaming youtubers to do an open letter in a common video destinated to politics and journalists asking for action to be taken concerning the whole problem. You would check with the community what the people want then get the video script done, triple-checked, read by us followers, get a consensus andd then release the video. That would be a long tough ass job, but that would be done for once and for all and that would also show everyone that we want the problem to be solved. No?
I recently started watching this channel and you nailed exactly how I feel as well. The Act Man isn't looking to make enemies in any sense that I can see, and even went as far as to ask his audience not to give this guy a hard time while also acknowledging the guy's feeling if he does inevitably receive a lot of negativity and telling him not to get discouraged towards the end of the video. I love to see a discussion on a topic especially here on RUclips where everyone can be civil and respectful of each other rather than resorting to petty insults or "drama" on each other's character to try and derail the conversation or gain favor. All in all The Act Man's a stand up dude and also does a great job of looking at things objectively and trying to keep his own biases out of the conversation.
This honestly just feels like a video from someone who just likes the game, and who feels that they’re good at it, so now they have to justify everything the company does in order to feel better about playing it.

I remember EA saying they needed the microtransactions to help cover their losses on the $60 price point of the game. I say that if you can't make money putting Star Wars on something, you fail at life in general. With all this nonsense with buggy games being released long before they should have been, then paying for more content- content they likely removed from the original release to begin with- constantly updating the games to fix bugs that should have been caught in pretesting and microtransactions, I could almost see gaming companies going back to the old ways of the 90s. Actually completing a game before they release it to the public.
Yeah, they need to make back their money, making games is expensive, games with micro transactions need them to make back money, just ignore the Digital Deluxe editions, special editions, collectors editions, pre orders, the game license, product commercial tie ins, paid DLC, season passes, and product endorsements, oh yeah, and game sales to I guess.
They don't need microtransactions when most games make their money back from the first month, Sometimes even the first week alone. They have microtransactions so you can give them more money.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say TW was being sarcastic. All this points to my first post; when are we, as a whole, going to say enough is enough. We are tired of getting 1/4 game and 3/4 bugs for $60, then having to update the game so many times to fix those bugs and then having them release (sometimes)cut content as DLC for X amount more. When are we going to tell them we want the WHOLE game, bug free and with complete content, for our initial price?

I’m just wondering why games don’t just launch with lots of content from the get go? Why do we need DLC? The original Battlefront 2 launched with more content than EA’s offering even with all the free DLC so far. If a game needs new DLC to feel like a worthwhile purchase, then the game is essentially unfinished and the new DLC is just adding stuff that should’ve been there at launch back in. I guarantee you gamers would be more willing to buy post-launch expansions if the base game was worth it. People didn’t complain that much about expansions for Quake 3 or Unreal Tournament, because those games felt complete from the get go.
gameragodzilla this is why I play titanfall 2, respawn has promised to give out all non-cosmetic dlc for free to all players, and if you want a skin, you buy it. No need pray and get a different one thru rng.
gameragodzilla they want to be able to charge you extra for the contents, if they put it in the game since launch, they'll charge you $60-100 but if they make it DLCs or P2W, they'll be able to charge you much much more, such as destiny 1, bungie charges players at the price of $120 just for the "expansions" while still having to pay $60 for the base game, if you don't pay, half of the game will be locked away from you, not to say the game also has loot boxes.
Sometimes Dlc is made as a cash grab, as a way to get more money out of their products. But sometimes it could just be an idea the developers had after the release and worked on it. Some games announce their DLC before the actual game comes out, and sometimes the Dlc is announced a year later
gameragodzilla You're right, but unfortunately, companies do this because it works. If they rush out a game, it costs less money in development, so they can shart out a game like BF2. Then, they use the money that would have been spent on development of the base game, on DLC that they can ask more money for, and with this system they'll probably make more DLC than if they spent more time on development. Less content in the base game = more DLC = the dev/publisher ask for more money for the same (or less) content.
I love that RoadMan says that “we need to pay” & “I would rather have free dlc, then have the option of paying for loot boxes is going away and I would have to pay for future content.” Hypocrisy is strong with this one.
We need to teach our younger gamers what it means to enjoy their hobbies safely and a levelheadedness to say NO to loot boxes. The integrity of Star Wars was compromised, and the greatest memories of BF2 are forever within 2005.

Also, the (SP) games are easier than ever, because then you can spend money on lootboxes in MP (also know as PROFIT). They make MILLIONS of DLC/Pre-ordering/Lootboxes. They make more profit than ever and still they want more money. You say "bring new great content to the players". Where is that great new content you talking about? Is it the pay to win in SW:BF2, shitty Curse of Osiris expansion of Destiny 2 ( it's 2-3 hours long ), Orks from the marketplace of Shadow of War and cashing in of a dead employee by making him a character ingame that you have to pay for (also, WB gets all the money from people who pay for that DLC outside US, instead of where it's supposed to go) , the butchering of Mass Effect, Andromeda, the manipulative behaviour of Activision with the COD WW2 lootboxes, thus tricking players into bying them to feel "more powerfull"? The list goes on and on, man!! There is NO great content from all those millions of dollars. They are NOT rewarding their fanbase: they are abusing it it!! Tell me, Brandon Cordoop....tell me how DLC/seasonpasses/microtransactions benefits us players in all those years people gave them money. Tell me how GREAT and BETTER the game industrie has become because of those things! Tell me, because i can't see it!! Here is a video from Jim Sterling: ruclips.net/video/Ce5CDrq4dGg/видео.html.

Never thought I would hear "good guy EA" in my life. My God, that was disgusting to hear and I am just going to sit back and question humanity and my own existence for awhile. How could someone be so out of touch and defensive towards one of the worst companies in the world?
That EA fan boy said those loot boxes are optional you don’t have to buy it. Well people are buying it cause it exist. EA intentionally left the door open like they didn’t know, now you don’t have to come in to gamble these boxes but you will eventually because you want to win. If the opportunity is there people will take it, nobody likes losing in battlefront.
@RUclips customer service if people can cheat and get away with it, they'll do it. EA knows the mindset of their audience, maybe you don't fall for it cause you got higher standards, but others will.

Really miss the old days when the games had no DLCs, no microtransactions, no bullshit, just a full game since day one. Damn, I miss being a kid playing mine Playstation one.
I remember the days of doing things like unlocking additional outfits or characters required u to perform some rather hard feats in game ahowing that u actually worked hard and earned it. Nowadays u just throw money at the screen to unlock anything. I honestly would b surprised if in a few year's from now Blizzard eventually allow players to unlock mythic gear in WoW via micro-transactions.
Yeah... I remember how hard it was to unlock skins and characters back in the day in Resident Evil 3 with those Mercenaries missions. Now you pay and pray to get what you want from those motherfucking lootboxes.
Oh my god this video was painful to watch... not because of you Act-man but how can someone be this blind ? I genuinely don't understand how "Gamers" like these can defend these kind of things... this guys just seems like a big fanboy to me who try to defend its purchase or a company that he "love"
Oh you'll find this kind of person on and off, especially in a bad environment like FF14, Overwatch, or Destiny among others. They'll blindly defend anything for the most shallow reason. Like Destiny: All is excused cause it shoot good. FF14: No standards, cannot learn from the past, yet it's the same song and dance everytime and they still can't do it, but nobody cares because that's too "stressful" even though this game is so easy the healer might as well not be there most of the time. Overwatch: Similar to Destiny and FF14 only with MOBA and E-Sports tendencies, with a sugar daddy who more busy being inclusive than actually fixing the problems that scare people away, but don't worry, all is forgiveness cause it's blizzard! They shoot good and they got a talking ape.
Retromastery He had some good points going, but I believe the execution and wording was poorly done. If you let the idea of p2w sit firmly in your head you can literally refute all his arguements.
The worst part about this is EA took a big name that everyone knows and CHILDREN would play, and proceeded to add two addicting things for them; 1) gambling, and 2) free-to-play types of microtransactions, something that has been known to cause trouble with children who have spent hundreds by accident before. I don't think this would have blown up as much if this was in a game that was rated M and wasn't a huge name, but it's still a terrible decision out of greed and should be treated as it has been these past weeks.
25:39 The fact that EA made the system so then it would take either a week or 40 hours to unlock one hero obviously means that it's their fault. Remember this phrase: Psychologically is a powerful tool. This is why propaganda is effective, it uses psychologically to encourage a certain behavior or gain support for or against a cause. Lootboxes can encourage online gambling if the grind is a ridiculous amount of time (like 30 or more hours).
Yep. Psychological manipulation is scary stuff; it's the backbone for some of history's most atrocious figures and their equally appalling actions. Lootboxes and microtransactions should only directly affect the game if it is free-to-play. Otherwise, they should be strictly, without exception, cosmetic.
I think hes forgetting two important things. one being that if there wasn't as big of a backlash EA would have made it slower to progress then beta by a lot. the other being that if EA wasn't forced to save face of the star wars IP by Disney then they wouldn't have made any changes like the reduce cost or increase in rewards.
Thanks for your video, AktMann! Two points: - Besides the pay-to-win aspects, how can people not realise they're paying twice for the same product ? Once when buying the game, and then a second time when buying Darth Vader, for instance. Wouldn't that qualify as a scam? - If an indie game like Verdun got all the success and all the happy players it has, if this game, developed by two independant developers, could have all the patches and DLC it received over the months for free and if the only thing you paid for is the game in itself (about 20 euros on Steam), then why does a triple A developer like EA claim it "needs" microtransactions in order to "survive"? Isn't that somewhat strange?
I was playing Call of Duty while I watched this and I just ranked up 3 times, leveled up my gun 2 times, finished 2 challenges, and my team still got defeated This has nothing to do with the video but I want this info to be known
It relates to the video. I've always been a fan of CoD progression, and Modern Warfare has it nearly right. I enjoyed World at War with the "This many kills for a basic attachment"/"This many headshots for this advanced thingummy" system. Seemed to make me more invested in the HOW of playing, not so much the outright run-and-gun. Anyway, that is the style of progression games should focus on. Unlockable camos, better guns based on skill, EXP bonuses for killstreaks. Not paying for shit just to get all the content they ALREADY MADE for the game.
That's actually from the soundtrack to Fullmetal Alchemist, the original series. I forget the title of the track, but side note: you should check that soundtrack out, it's pretty cool. It's on youtube.
Personally, i think Battlefront 2 is better than Battlefront and Battlefront but Battlefront 2 is WAY better than Battlefront 2, Battlefront, and Battlefront.
TheActMan notices a false equivalence in a part of road man's video, where the soundtrack that's playing is a song from an anime about the reality of equivalent exchange. That's an extremely perfect timing.
Thinking that the average player is putting in 3-6 hours/ day (31.5 hours/week on avg) is insane. Are there those who put those hours in or more? Sure. However, as a gamer with real world responsibilities, I put in half that much time...and I'm a bit of an outlier. Most adults don't even have the amount of time I've got to game...in many cases not even close. Grind times need to be based on the average playtime of the average player who is serious, but has a real life, not on jobless, childless outliers eating cheatos in their moms basement. We're talking 12-15 hours per week. On the high end of that range, at current grind levels how long it would take you to get everything you want sorta depends on what you want. A 15 hour/week player can realistically expect to earn 100 crafting parts/day (700/week). Buying and upgrading a star card to purp costs 720 crafting parts. So, decide how many cards you need to have all the cards you want and do the math. If all you ever do is play officer in Blast, it won't take too long. If your interests are a bit more diverse and you'll ultimately want 60-80 cards...god help you.
If I put 3-6 a day for a game, it's because I enjoy it like Persona 5. Not doing the same exact multiplayer missions over and over and over again. Especially when it's not challenging at all.
Some of us are attic-dwellers not basement dwellers. We're rare but I'm sure there's others out there somewhere. Also I agree with your points. I'm somebody who takes my gaming fairly seriously but at the same time I'm not very good and do not go for an eternal grind and always playing on max difficulty.
that's why I stopped playing gta online. Not really even looking forward to Red Dead Redemption 2 which is crazy because I'd buy a full price remaster of the first game in a heart beat. Though they sure as shit won't be getting me to buy red dead redemption 2 twice like I did with GTA V, and the first red dead if they do remaster it for PC. Gaming is getting pretty depressing when devs like Obsidian have to state there will be zero micro-transactions in their future products. Indie devs are becoming the only good devs. Hell the only reason I bought GTA V twice was for the PC graphics, and mods. Well that, and I thought I'd get some gangland type action in the singleplayer DLC that never came. More mods I guess.
I get on GTA every now and then to collect the free money they give out. But even then when they slap down 400k in your wallet you are basically homeless in GTA
I know you want people to be respectful... but this dude didn't even think about his arguments... it's like he got an idea and didn't even think any further. All of his arguments are stupid if you just think on each of his points for even a minute you can disprove them - some of them he negates himself... He's saying that EA exploits people with gambling addictions but then says it fine... the word EXPLOIT already makes it NOT OK!
I don't think Act Man pointed it out, but at 13:40, he mentions that having DLC would split the playerbase between people that paid and people who didn't. Yet he stated earlier that Star Cards have an affect on match making, the higher the tier, the more "skilled" matchmaking you are placed in. You see the issue?
Besides: There are games out there that have multiplayer DLC and it still doesn't divide the playerbase, because the new content is just not useable by the players without the DLC, yet still balanced against the older items.

That was one lifetime ago and when EA was decent enough . It all changed so quickly that sometimes I wonder what the hell went wrong.
Yes, I was just thinking about the same thing. It's less and less likely you'll have to pay for a game once. I dont blame heroin dealers for heroin addiction . you dont blame a liquor store for alcoholics do you? if theres a demand, supply will follow.
I should mention i am still against ea and microtransactions, I just think its a bad comparison.
@@jessefisher1809 It's because liquor is legal. It has regulations and taxes. Gaming industry is operating like a drug cartel these days. Giving you free packs first to get you hooked or free games, like a drug dealer gives you free samples of his drugs. It's not a bad example.

I completely agree, I enjoyed it
Most of the poor kid's argument is centred around his own personal experience playing the game for 4 days, and this is the same mistake that almost every BF2 defender makes.
Slogans.
@Jay you just described apple users xD
Jay RPG no they need monetization to pay for their cosmetics which in turn is what you pay for when you buy a lootboxes. And before you say thats not necessary, overwatch devolopers have made thousands of cosmetic items that dont affect gameplay, and if anything gives you incentive to play more, like how call of dutys system, but because theres no real hero progression in overwatch like call of duty, your cosmetics become incentives
Only disagreance with this is that Overwatch is cosmetic only. Cant really argue about Rng cosmetics. Doesn't affect gameplay.

He's right that EA is not forcing you to pay money, but they are however psychologically making you want to buy lootboxes. Make the grind long, and offer lootboxes to gamble your way to unlock something you want. Psychology is a power tool that can make one want to do something in order to get a reward.
@Rahat Zaman shit the only reason I bought a new phone was cause I broke my old one. And the one I had before that, I had for years.

Like Skyrim SE. And all the mods on Nexus are free. If only all games were free of loot boxes and microtransactions.
@@paigelocknane6401 Except Skyrim SE is just another lazy re-release of the game where it should've bring more. The graphics barely look different and it doesn't bring any new stuff to the table.
@@imran8880 True, Bethesda could have released Skyrim SE with better graphics and more content, but the modding community was already very active with the game by 2016, and the game is very modder-friendly. Newer games aren't as easy to mod, and at least games like Skyrim SE don't have lootboxing and microtransactions. The reason people still love Skyrim SE is due to the variety of mods available to enhance the game. And unlike microtransactions and lootboxing, mods are free and easy to plug right into the game with a mod manager. Without mods Skyrim goes stale pretty quick, but with mods you can tailor the game to your own personal preferences and improve the graphics. Skyrim was one of the first games that even got me interested in gaming to begin with.

I hope halo is the moped because nobody cares about halo
Chris Lowe you sure about that one ?
Son Sukcharoen as of right now halo is not a demanding game like that anymore
Son Sukcharoen I'm pretty sure more people are asking about battlefront updates more then a new halo game
People will also use the point "Microtransactions to cover losses" But if they didn't need them before they sure as fuck don't now.
Not to mention you aren't even getting a full game for the $60, Yes the DLC is free but it shouldn't be DLC in the first place.
Hey Act Man, I'm so glad that you were respectful to this guy even though he has a different opinion. I 100% agree with you and disagree with him, but still it's important to be nice. I'd say his video and this response video alone proves they can't defend ea at all really lol
Just don’t buy there stuff.. THATS THE ONLY WAY. It really is.
A lot of times people will take a contrary point of view because it gets them attention, or makes them seem unique and special. I'm not saying that is the case here, but you can't deny that an otherwise tiny and unremarkable channel has been getting a lot of attention after taking such an unpopular stance.
Boycott EA.. That's what I'm doing...
As much as I'm gonna want the next Battlefeild game, I won't be getting it.
Remember, FUCK EA
"EA is making more money than spending money to develop games."
EA hurt my heart more than they hurt my wallet.
Well of course they would make more money than spend on making the game. That's kinda the point of running a company. You always want to make more money than you spend. That's called making a profit.
@EskCan19 I think Alexander meant the profit they are making is more than the amount they spent making the game.
Greed. With it, EA ruined my command and conquer series.
Ah, well yeah, that's true.

The Act Man
Yeah I’ve been seeing a couple of your videos here and there, but the respectful and mature way with which you handled your counter arguments with his points sealed the deal for me too man! Have a sub!
This dude has CLEARLY never had to deal with an addict in his life. Otherwise, he'd realize that lootboxes are too available to create an addict.
It’s not the loot boxes you get addicted to you dummy. It’s trying to get the item that you want that gets people addicted. You know what else is “too available”? Alcohol. You know what still exists? Alcoholics.
That guy is a EA fan boy who love their game so much even though the writing is on wall. He justify everything as you don’t have to buy those loot boxes, star cards, so stop complaining and play the game like me.
@@NoAffiliation You don't get addicted to the idea of unlocking an item .... you get addicted to the rush of adrenaline you get when the wheel is spinning. Winning or losing barely have anything to do with. Winning is the goal but what make you spin the wheel again is the thrill not the gain... otherwise nobody would gamble because statistically speaking Gambling isn't profitable so they would go for a guaranteed reward if really the reward was the addicting part of it.
I know I have the potential to be addicted to gambling and that's why I'm 29 and never bought a lottery ticket, never went to the casino and never bought a scratching ticket except to break a bill. But whenever there's a game of chance in a game (death rolling in wow) I loose all control and gamble my golds away. I barely feel anything when trading the gold (win or lose) but my heart is racing during the rolling process and ultimately that's what attact me and make me addict.
The alchool exemple is terrible because you need to be 21 to buy alcohol (or 18 in my country) where buying Loot boxes doesn't have any requirement. Yes they might have access to alcohol earlier than that but its because they are going over existing barrier to prevent them to have access to it.... there's literally no barrier to keep kids from gambling in video games. They don't have to go out of their way .... it's literally a mechanic you are expose to regularly (Overwatch give you loot boxes and expose you to them by default)

But you're the 1 in 50 people who can do that. Most gamers nowadays who were "the big gamers" from when modern warfare and even GTA 5 came out are now adults, the people who made these gaming companies so big are now adults. Usually it takes like 5 hours which is good
Richard Kim You should be player not payer.
@@MindaugasSnegirevas You are so ignorant, I have no words.
Less content in the base game = more DLC = the dev/publisher ask for more money for the same (or less) content.
gameragodzilla they don't release everything at one time so the game will last longer and so people have something to look forward to.
I love that RoadMan says that “we need to pay” & “I would rather have free dlc, then have the option of paying for loot boxes is going away and I would have to pay for future content.” Hypocrisy is strong with this one.
Lemme have my free DLC paid for with the money of the people who did fall for the micro transactions.
We need to teach our younger gamers what it means to enjoy their hobbies safely and a levelheadedness to say NO to loot boxes.
The integrity of Star Wars was compromised, and the greatest memories of BF2 are forever within 2005.

I don't understand why everyone talks about the grind. I've got all the heroes within under 30 hours of game play.. that's pretty fast.
I shouldn't be wasting 30 hours just to play as Darth Vader. Can you imagine if TF2, a class based team FPS, made you spend hours just to unlock the medic? That would ruin the balance.
The only star wars game I support is Battlefront 2 (2005)
Fxfrank TGA not even KotOR?
Jedi academy and Force unleashed 1 were pretty good
@@kIDNEYKid-xt9uc Also Jedi knight II: Jedi outcast, to be able to play online batte as Desann who looked like he had jumped right out from that old dinosaucers cartoon.
No love for Republic Commandos?
No love for 2017?
@@rapindagame8995 yeah
Oh my god this video was painful to watch... not because of you Act-man but how can someone be this blind ? I genuinely don't understand how "Gamers" like these can defend these kind of things... this guys just seems like a big fanboy to me who try to defend its purchase or a company that he "love"
Retromastery Not a gamer but a corporate shill.
I mean, he just sounds like someone who is trying to, as Act-man says, play devil's advocate.
Can't see how believing 40 hours a week of gameplay without spending those credit is perfectly fine is poorly worded.
“Most gamers play 3-6 hours a day”
Mate I play 4 ON WEEKENDS
Hey, I'm not gay, but I must say that you have a wonderful jawline and a uniquely mesmerizing voice
gay
ohhhhhhhh!!!! he said it boi! he said it!
Theirs nothing wrong with gays...
Not saying you implied that, im just saying
Umm ....GAAAAY!!!!!! 😂Jk
He does
The worst part about this is EA took a big name that everyone knows and CHILDREN would play, and proceeded to add two addicting things for them;
1) gambling, and 2) free-to-play types of microtransactions, something that has been known to cause trouble with children who have spent hundreds by accident before.
I don't think this would have blown up as much if this was in a game that was rated M and wasn't a huge name, but it's still a terrible decision out of greed and should be treated as it has been these past weeks.
Act man's reaction when that guy mentioned him was priceless.
25:39
The fact that EA made the system so then it would take either a week or 40 hours to unlock one hero obviously means that it's their fault.
Do a video on the downfall of Bungie
Jackattack809 I think he did on I was wrong about destiny 2
Hidden Xperia did one
Already did!
Jackattack809 like we haven't seen that enough
I think hes forgetting two important things. one being that if there wasn't as big of a backlash EA would have made it slower to progress then beta by a lot. the other being that if EA wasn't forced to save face of the star wars IP by Disney then they wouldn't have made any changes like the reduce cost or increase in rewards.
Thanks for your video, AktMann!
Two points:
- Besides the pay-to-win aspects, how can people not realise they're paying twice for the same product ? Once when buying the game, and then a second time when buying Darth Vader, for instance. Wouldn't that qualify as a scam?
- If an indie game like Verdun got all the success and all the happy players it has, if this game, developed by two independant developers, could have all the patches and DLC it received over the months for free and if the only thing you paid for is the game in itself (about 20 euros on Steam), then why does a triple A developer like EA claim it "needs" microtransactions in order to "survive"? Isn't that somewhat strange?
I was playing Call of Duty while I watched this and I just ranked up 3 times, leveled up my gun 2 times, finished 2 challenges, and my team still got defeated
This has nothing to do with the video but I want this info to be known
🆗
It relates to the video. I've always been a fan of CoD progression, and Modern Warfare has it nearly right.
I enjoyed World at War with the "This many kills for a basic attachment"/"This many headshots for this advanced thingummy" system. Seemed to make me more invested in the HOW of playing, not so much the outright run-and-gun.
Anyway, that is the style of progression games should focus on. Unlockable camos, better guns based on skill, EXP bonuses for killstreaks. Not paying for shit just to get all the content they ALREADY MADE for the game.
Act Man, you beat me to the comment about the weird music :-P PS - Your cool dog photo bombed your video ;-)
MythicTyrant what is that music. Probably from some weird anime something.
That's actually from the soundtrack to Fullmetal Alchemist, the original series. I forget the title of the track, but side note: you should check that soundtrack out, it's pretty cool. It's on youtube.
Corey Carousso I noo it
Hey look, it's Mythic Tyrant
It’s Brothers from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. A critically acclaimed anime and manga. Personal favorite
Personally, i think Battlefront 2 is better than Battlefront and Battlefront but Battlefront 2 is WAY better than Battlefront 2, Battlefront, and Battlefront.
Chaz McGutter I do like battlefront 2 more than battlefront 2
Battlefront 2 copied battlefront 2 too much
.....WHAT?!
Andrew Coetzee if battlefront 2 2017 copied battlefront 2 2005 too much it would be accually good
I went crosseyed reading this.
“EA Did Nothing Wrong”
Me: Those words, can you even use them in a sentence like that? 🤯
Urban Guy the people who say “EA Did Nothing Wrong” are wrong
Done
Mate I could work those hours and use the money to buy the boxes. Not gonna buy them though.
Or work.
that's why I stopped playing gta online.
EA did nothing wrong? You mean EA did nothing right.
Anthony Reaska EA itself is wrong ( ^ :
I know you want people to be respectful... but this dude didn't even think about his arguments... it's like he got an idea and didn't even think any further. All of his arguments are stupid if you just think on each of his points for even a minute you can disprove them - some of them he negates himself...
He's saying that EA exploits people with gambling addictions but then says it fine... the word EXPLOIT already makes it NOT OK!
this guy is just a train captain.. takes kids for a ride for what they want to hear.. gets the views.. job done
He triggered me sooo hard *trying not call him dumbass*
your wrong in every way
Besides: There are games out there that have multiplayer DLC and it still doesn't divide the playerbase, because the new content is just not useable by the players without the DLC, yet still balanced against the older items.
EA 2019: we are adding jar jar to the game
Me: "takes a gun"
Also me: "killsmysef"
