great job on coaching Tessa !!!.......I always enjoy watching your golf videos and can usually pick up a few tips....as someone who wants a bit more club head speed, I am going to work on this one....... thanks Nick
I'd like to know as well. It looks like a rotation of the forearms or flipping the wrists? I didnt think that was appropriate in a body oriented swing.
I’ve gone back and forth on this approach. When I do, my club head speeds goes to 87 with my 7i but it’s either dead straight or a pull. Often the miss is more left than I want. When I focus on getting more shaft lean through rotation I have better dispersion around 78mph but increased compression gives me the same distance with fewer long left misses. What do you recommend for someone stuck between both approaches?
Good question Daniel I would play with more compression, better dispersion and less speed. This drill helps me increase my speed a lot but i don’t play like this. This video aims to help those that overturn in the downswing, swing over the top and don’t create enough club speed
I'm so envious of golfers that have natural speed. You are going from P3 to P8 without a full turn and getting 86 mph. Right now I'm doing speed training with a Rypstick and I can get 90 mph when I give it my all and that's a stick based on Driver. More often I'm getting 80-85 on average, and that's putting a lot of effort into it. I don't know if I'll ever get >80 mph with an iron. Of course being 55 years old and obese probably doesn't help..lol.
Fellow stack and tilter here and I’ve been following your videos for quite some time. I’m having really good success with stack and tilt. However, much of what I focused on has been real connection at the upper arms and even keeping the arms close together so I guess I’m a little confused by this video. Is this part of stack and tilt and are you connected in your swing? I know I can get a lot more speed using my arms, but I feel like I get disconnected in doing so. I’d appreciate any advice. Thanks
Thankyou for following my videos, this drill is for those that overturn in the downswing and don’t create enough speed with the arms. My swing is essentially the same just a little less turn at P8 to allow more focus with the arms. I am still keeping weight on left side and moving lower body weight to left side in the downswing, tilting the shoulders and keeping the arms straight
Great video Nick and congrats Tessa on breaking 90! Is feeling like you are pulling your arms down at the beginning of the downswing appropriate? Rob Cheney recently put out a video describing that very thing, but it's in relation to starting a downswing sequence. However, it does have the effect of preventing the upper torso from rotating too fast. which seems to jibe with the drill you present here. The confusion for me is there are a bunch of videos out there warning golfers not to pull their arms down.
Thankyou, the idea is that the arms move faster in the transition in the downswing and follow through. Technically the hands should move downwards towards the ball in an angle (plane) as opposed to pulling straight down
@@NickTaylorGolf oh okay that clears it up. The distinction is pulling straight down versus pulling within the plane. Got it now! Yeah it feels great when I do it so that's what led to the confusion thanks Nick!
one small correction, position 8 is when the club shaft is parallel to the ground (after impact)... position 9 is when the right arm is parallel to the ground which occurs after position 8...
Yes this was the P system i was initially aware of when i started coaching. At GOLFTEC I have to use P1-P9, to keep things more simple when using the 3D optimotion technology
@@NickTaylorGolf thanks for the explanation ... i was not aware that golftec used a P1-P9 system which is different than the traditional P1-P10 system.

Thankyou Gary, appreciate your comments. I hope this drill helps and keep me updated with your progress 🏌️
Way to go Tessa!!!
It looks to me very Tommy Fleetwood-esque. I’d be tempted to just play with the drill if I’m only losing a couple of yards of carry
Thanks Les, I think a lot of golfers would benefit from playing like this
Sorry just found your videos when looking for Stack and Tilt
Very informative
Do you recommend S & T for Senior golfers?
Thanks great teacher
Thanks David
Nick,
Is this a roll the arms release? How does this differ from the long arc release?
Hi, Nick great video! What is the feeling you should to swing your arms fast? Are you feeling like you are flipping your wrists down? Thank you

I feel the speed through the arms and the wrists help put the breaks on in the finish
The arms should rotate and wrists hinge in a normal swing but this just happens quicker in this drill to help increase the speed

I would be happy with those speeds at 55. Plus it’s not all about speed, the LPGA girls swing 7 iron at 78mph on average

Great vid thanks!! I need 80 mph only jajaja

1st 😅
Well done Tessa!
Thanks Don
Looking good Nick. Uve lost weight. Good job looking slim.
Thankyou Cal 🙏
Korean lady pro golfers do this technique. Only turn after hitting the ball to finish the swing.
Nick is that like a punch shot when you turn your hands over, or tiger sting shot.
