I'm selling my sports car to buy this bike, it reminds me of my 750 from my younger days, just much cooler looking and powerful. I've been riding for a good 40 years so I might as well enjoy the years I have left riding this bike while I can.
I bought mine in 20 when I thought that they were going to be gone forever. I've got the same air cleaner, Bassani radial sweepers, a Wood Knight Prowler 22x cam, and a full tune. Now to get the 23' tank on my bike and a Legend air suspension. The Breakout isn't for everyone, but it's damned well right for me. I love riding her almost as much as I love riding my wife.
Awesome bike, in my opinion worth every cent. Look good, sound good, and have shedloads of torque. Always have a smile on my face when I've ridden mine
Higher risers or bars would solve the Clamshell riding position you experienced, perhaps the guys at Oxford HD will have something fitted for your next test, would be a good reason for another spin, they are great fun to ride.
Did a test ride and that sticky out air filter so gets in the way. Dealer says I can change it (obviously) but that's not really the point, how about making it right in the first place. I'll keep my Sport Glide I think.
I love it… but that little red/grey graphic on the tank proper rubs me up the wrong way haha. WHY?? Just black it out. I’m about to buy one and I’ll paint over that lol
Does not do well compared to Nightster in some other test rides. Very what you see is what you get. Intake bothers knee? Does not like to turn? For a flagship needs more function?
The Nightster is a very different sort of Harley Davidson! More of a sportster, whereas the Breakout is full fat Harley 💪 Not so much built for riding dynamics etc...
Not related to this video - but to your tour spain/france. Did you find the 12Litre tank capacity a problem on the speedmaster - filling up all of the time?
Hi, to be honest yes it was a bit annoying on the tours! I was having to stop a lot to fill up. However it is nice to have regular breaks when riding longer distances. I wouldn't let it put you off the Speedmaster
Great review Angus! Wouldn't trade my Speedy for one of these (especially as it's almost double the price,) but it does look beautiful, and seems like an interesting ride.
Like the big Harleys. My current bikes are a 1900 Roadliner. A Triumph Thruxton 1200. Yamaha had 13,000 kms on the clock. Triumph had 2700 kms. Together they cost $A34,000 with on road costs. The Yamaha has 100 hp, big motor loping power long wheelbase, well made good handling. The Thruxton is fully acccessorised and has the street appeal of a Harley bit without the Hells Angel vibe. The 117 Breakout costs from $A38,000 in Australia. In UK it's $A46,000. Lors of custom parts and good deoreciation rate . Ive entered a Harley dealer many times yet never took the Rubicon step to buy one....except 50 years ago I swapped a new Yamaha for an 1942 WLA. Thats my take on Harleys.
Love that! You can tell your wife you need something urgent from Toolstation and 20 minutes later you're out testing a Harley, Ducati or Honda! Perfect product placement 😂
Hey it’s been awhile. I wanted to check in and see how things were going. It’s Scott from Texas. I got back on here tonight because I remembered you reviewed the R9T so I wanting to watch that. I thought I buy the Trident, but I found an BMW for 11500 here and I thinks it’s really a great bike for that money. Anyway, I hope your doing well, I’m going to catch up and watch you new stuff. S
Hi Scott, hope you are doing well 👍 The R9T is a fantastic bike, thats a greta price for one! I am good thank you, hope you enjoy catching up with the videos. Cheers
@@redangrevival Hey! I’ve also looking at a MT09. I really like that bike a lot and I can get one of those for 9250. Have you been on the new ones yet? The SP model is really nice.
Great review. I have owned 2 Breakouts. 2014 and 2017 CVO 103-110. currently on a 2023 street Glide. but seeing this 117 in the 2023 breakout has me possibly wanting to get back into another breakout. Yes, they're very hard in my opinion to tight corner but I can go over Paris Mountain here in SC easily on a breakout. the torque and HP on this new one sound great. and the higher handlebars you pointed out definitely add to the aesthetic of the bike. nice rake on it. just add some custom aftermarket pipes from TAB OR V&H should give the bike the sound to match the look. I don't ride very far. more in town hop around bike. once you get used to the breakout they are fun to take on an 1hr-2hr cruise. again, nice review.
Did you feel it didn't always go in a straight line due to offset rear wheel and track. It's the reason I never had one apart from roundabouts, lol. Having had a few Dynas.
Nice bike and engine. What i find funny is a large part of what you are paying for are those beautiful crome pipes. But 99% of buyers will replace them for louder pipes. Why doesnt Harley just make the pipes with interchangable baffles so peoole who buy it can get the tone they want with the original pipes. And what happens to all the bran new original pipes that are taken off of every new Harley ? There must be thousands of bran new pipes somewhere. Its like you are paying allot of money for beautiful pipes for no reason. Why doesnt Harley just have an option to buy there bikes without the pipes. Its just an observation from someone who is not a Harley guy. But i do apreciate them.
Hear Hear 👏 A very good observation and you are completely right! I am not sure if it is down to emissions or that it helps keep the aftermarket exhaust industry going! Either way a valve or removable baffles on the standard exhaust would be great. Cheers
