River King Mine Train is a steel mine train roller coaster at Six Flags St. Louis in Eureka, Missouri. Built in 1971, it was the park's first coaster and opened with the park on June 5, 1971. The actual ride itself is one of two tracks, one which was later sold. Today, the ride operates with its original name. The ride has also received modern upgrades, including a new control panel. It is a popular family and beginner coaster, since it is the smallest in the park. Often called simply the Mine Train, it is unique in the fact that it has no automatic system for the lap bars; instead, employees have to manually lock and unlock the bars. Trains are five cars with riders arranged two across in three rows. In total, the coaster has three trains that have a total capacity of 90 riders (30 each).

My favorite! Everything doesn't have to be fast and upside down! The baby coaster was always my favorite!

At 39 years old it is a baby compared to Cedar Creek Mine Ride. It looks like a great family coaster to get the youngins' used to riding them.

39? The River King Mine Train is 53. It was only built 2 years after CCMR. It was the original coaster that opened with the park in 1971.

Yeah, it’s totally “baby’s first coaster”, but that’s why I like it, since I’m a big baby, lol. Haven’t been to Six Flags in ages, so this was fun. Final drop is much more fun in person, lol

One, I like that they have a lot of greenery and dodging through the trees.
Two, this reminds my of the moutain coasters only with lift hills instead of a 10 minute pull up a mountain.

That was "Railblazer," which was 1983 or 1984. That was a Stand-up ride that was open for a week or less, and a casualty happened because the obese lady was not able to secure herself, nor was the attendants able to do their job right of seeing if said securements were locking properly.

@@pauliek5325 When the River King Mine Train first opened up, it was actually two competing tracks, mirrored layouts. One of the tracks was turned into the Rail Blazer in the early 1980s. After the casualty, the RB track was moved to another amusement park.

For an early Arrow mine train it's quite smooth and fun. I guess if all you want is thrilling coasters you wouldn't like it, but this is the best of the 5 early mine trains I've been on.
