The mock-up looks fabulous. Well done. Sorry, but did I miss the pocket(s)? Just double checking before you cut into the Paris fabric... - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi
Hii, I really like your videos, but quick question: would you consider adding closed captions to your videos to make them more accessible to deaf and hard of hearing folks and people with a sensory issues? RUclips has automatic caption you can use, but they're really bad and hard to follow, so it's incredibly helpful when creators take the time to caption things manually in some way.
@fromcarlyb she is in need of help with you amazing skills. If she doesn't reach out. Please reach out to her. She is making her wedding dress and is stuck. Just some guidance.
First of all, fantastic work! Secondly, I love the evolution from “Guys this is not my cat” to “This adorable floofy emotional support cat is working very hard with me on this project” “my little IPad kid”
If you still have extra scales you could make a comfortable jacket to wear casually on your trip when you are not wearing the dress. Something to be a fun part of your everyday wardrobe. ❤ This project is so cool to watch come to life! Can’t wait to see this beauty finished.
It's really so sweet and kind that you're so determined to use all of the scales (or as many as humanly possible) in this piece in order to honor the work your fans put into them.
Absolutely LOVE your jacket. Future tutorial please? Also, I have two suggestions for leftover scales: artichoke handbag and/or dragon ottoman. Probably silly but might be fun and I've loved the bags you've made already.❤
Its so amazing to watch how she can diagnose whats wrong with the pattern by the way it fits and pulls in places. When I sew its an endless process of pinning and trying on lol. Shes a fashion idol and witch I swear.
An idea that I'm not sure is helpful, but here goes anyways; You could make the gloves in the old style of having buttons (or even a small zipper) at the wrist so you could stick your hands out without removing the whole gloves (and therefor having to carry or store them somewhere). But that would mean making the gloves completely yourself or finding ones that have good buttons.
Something in my little kid memory - back in the early 70's when women wore gloves on nice occasion - tells me that it's possible to have a zipper run from the wrist to the end of the elbow. They were tricky to deal with (hard to tell what would be fussier - buttons or a zip) but it is possible. My thought is it would be harder to reverse engineer it with an existing glove. It would have to be built into the pattern. I do like the idea of having a slit at the wrist to free up the hands. I _think_ the slit is just a finished edge so you don't have to somehow fit in a closure across your pulse point. - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi
I was so excited to see my name! I feel like a 5-year-old! Good luck creating this fantabulous gown. I love your long-sleeved bolero, & modular concept for the whole look!
Taking a gown and making it modular is absolutely brilliant. Congrats on getting your scales done and mailed! I had it on my to-do list. Ah well. - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi
Haven't seen anyone else mention it, but I would use a clear fishing line as support in the skirt ! (It does come in colors, as well!) It comes in different strengths, depending on what fish you are hoping to catch - normally stated as "pounds" her in the USA. A marlin can weigh hundreds of pounds ! It CAN be tricky to tie knots in, but you CAN melt it with a lighter or small flame. I have used it to hang sculpture. Works well !
I get that the original mockup for the jacket wasn't the vibe you wanted for this outfit, but it looked super cool and I would love to see a version of it for a different project in the future.
I loved this video because of all the technical thinking you explained. From the construction to reading the wrinkles! Of course I love your whimsical story side too, but what a great combo if I actually learn from your knowledge while watching!! (I’ve been learning how to do flat pattern making and my biggest challenge is reading wrinkles and adjusting fit based on that. It’s something not many people explain so seeing her how you interpret it was absolutely super helpful to see!!) Also you are doing great with this project!! It’s a mega challenge, you can do it!! 🪡
I love seeing you get into more proper technical work. The chaotic improvised projects are fun, but it's refreshing to see you exercise the full extent of your knowledge and training. You're such a professional underneath all that whimsy.
I already love it, it's going to look amazing! To give that snatched silhouette without the tight-lacing, maybe add some hip padding? The Edwardians had some ventilated styles for summer that shouldn't be too warm, but give the volume in the high hip at the sides that gives that super dramatic silhouette.
The plans look great and I look forward to seeing how it turns out! Splitting it up into several pieces is definitely a good idea, so you can deal with any fit issues caused by the scales without another part of the dress changing as a result.
Your French label shirt from Japan made me LAUGH omg I also loved seeing the more technical side! Watching you build the initial shapes on the mannequin reminded me of a sculptor working with clay, that was was amazing
I’m so excited to see the next video on this dress! It’s going to be stunning, I just know it. I recently sewed my first thing in years and years. It was just shortening a thrifted skirt for my daughter’s Halloween costume, but I am so excited to get back into sewing. You are one of my biggest influences! You make me feel the creative spark and I thank you for that.
wow!! tu est folle de prendre cette robe comme projet!! mais ne lache pas! j ai hate de voir le resultat de la follie!!! merci de partager tes creations!!!
I love how this video, along with the scales sorting video, is going to become this tribute dress's own history. I know the internet is forever, but maybe convert color stills to a paper book with a Patreon and scale-maker list in the appendix? Glad that this intricate work is being watched over by such a poufy floofy supervisor who works for cat food , cat videos and cuddles with the human.
Maybe a matching, removable cape would be really cool if you can't fit all the scales on the dress Also i will probably cry when you show us the final result, the concept of hundrets of people all around the world coming together to create a piece of art is so marvelous honestly. Keep going ❤
Emotionally I’m so invested in this! Financially it was only shipping because my scales were all scrap busters! ❤ The US is very big so it makes sense we “won.”
You can do it! Don't worry about using all the scales, make the best dress, you'll definitely find a project for any leftovers which will still be wonderful and exciting for that that sewed them.
I liked the sleeves on the jacket before the last change on the pattern, like you said it’s very medieval. Maybe you can reuse that some other time too? Excited to see the updates on this project.
I don’t usually watch sewing channels because I crochet, but you making the mock up for the stress has helped me with a lot of fitting issues.. i’m so excited to see the finished dress!!
I adore the shape of this gown! I really really love your vision for it. I can't wait to see the finished product. Whatever you come up with, it's going to be dazzling and amazing!! I hope the artists who worked on this dress with Mugler get to see this homage. You're so talented and creative. Thank you for making these videos.
Velcro. So the bottom can be split up the side so you can open it up when needed. I don't know how it might look, just thinking practically. (now to watch the rest of the video)
I am. SO EXCITED. My DREAM. I look at those insane couture creations from my favorite designers that are truly wearable art, using many different techniques and crafted by what are known as the deranged and highly skilled, and I always dream of doing the same. YOU ARE DOING IT!!!! One of these days I will also be doing it!!! I WILL!!!! Thank you thank you from the bottom of my little art heart. LET’S GO CHIMERA!!!!
I love seeing the process that goes into developing designs like this! This is the ultimate reason I watch channels like yours. Your whimsy, energy and fabulous personality inform all of it, including these technical processes, so we're here for you.😊❤
You are so wonderfully created& devoted to keeping commitments. I'm excited to watch your process I sewed some patchwork while watching you solve your own sewing puzzles.
Gosh, I would be adding flat fells and bar stitching everywhere, that's going to be so heavy. Definitely go for the sturdier grosgrain ribbon to hang the skirt, I think. I really like the design so far. This is exciting, I hope it goes well for you! I agree that you should raise the sides of the bodice to be much higher. You mentioned having a removable train. What about putting the train on the jacket? Good luck!
I am once more so impressed with how close and well fitting your first draping and drafting already was (which does not come as a surprise having watched your videos)! And being able to exactly identify what the slight fitting issues are, shows how skilled your are.
OMG I LOVE THE JACKET YOU WORE IN THE BEGINNING ITS SO PRETTY!! ITS LIKE SOMETHING OUT OF A DREAM. I've been drawing sketches of jackets or dresses for a while, and that sort of jacket is everything I've ever wanted. I hope to get into sewing more often and the chimera is amazing!!!
this is so much fun! i don't know if it's too late to suggest this, but i'd love to see the hips padded out a little to make the waist look more snatched. looking forward to the next installment! :)
Ooh I'm excited to see the scales come together!! The sleeves look like a lovely idea, and it's always more fun to add your own design ideas instead of copying something directly anyways!
The way your intro shot the D&G fall-winter 2009 collection into my head! I had the magazine ad campaigns taped to my closet for years after, lost them in a move but it's still living in my head rent-free! Looking back it obviously has 18th century inspired elements and that is my thing. Maybe I should take some action with it too, after 15 years. 😁
I like your concept even more than the original. It will be stunning. And its such a joy to have you so committed to honouring all the support this community has given.
I LOVE THIS! I know this dress will be absolutely beautiful once finished & getting to watch the process from the start is fascinating. I also like the technical aspect & explanation given around draping. I’m a complete beginner to sewing & still quite nervous, so this info is very much appreciated. You got this! ✊🏾
I do not mind this more thechnical side of constructing a garment at all :) Its fun to see you figure things out and give insights (like the draping technique learned in fashion school).
This project is SO exciting! Thanks for showing us the whole entire process. Your mockup knowledge and tailoring abilities are a joy to behold! Best of luck, Hazariel~ Can't wait for the next video!!!!
Uhhhh. cannot wait to see your progress. The whole journey will be stunning. 🎉 I love such tectalk - especially when you explain why there are wrinkles, where it's caused and how to get rid. That's chefs kiss❤ looking forward in excitement
LOL I looked at your jacket at the beginning of the video and i thought i would love to see how that is made and get a pattern, it is really interesting. So that is an idea for a video. I like more technically oriented videos because I do some sewing and I find it helpful when someone like you, who finished fashion school, solves the fit issues so thank you for that. I was going to suggest to break up the dress so it is more manageable but I see you are WAAAAYY ahead of me. 😂😂😂 I think the dress will be wonderful and I can't wait to see it.
I can relate to being obsessed w 1 specific design. For me it’s the bug dress from Alexander McQueen. (Not any of the ones from the Atlantis collection but the one with hundreds of tiny bugs on it)
I'm so incredibly excited watching this series. 🎉🎉🎉 You are doing such a good job. Also I like the pacing with it being just an update. It makes it more relatable to my craft projects.
I live in Florida and really, really wanted to go to the con just to see you and the dress. Unfortunately my sister is having a baby around that time and I’m watching my nephews while #3 is making her debut! I’m 😔 sad I can’t be there, but I look forward to the vlog afterwards!

Damn this project is not a chimera, that's a whole leviathan!
You should make a matching handbag for this dress. It would be practical and use more scales!
It might even be possible to do a reversible one/double lining (is that the english word?😮), with so many scales. 🤔
@NunofUrbeeznis super smart! That's a great idea.
First of all, fantastic work!
Secondly, I love the evolution from “Guys this is not my cat” to “This adorable floofy emotional support cat is working very hard with me on this project” “my little IPad kid”
Came here to say the same lol
Ariel: NOT MY CAT!
cat: you're my mom now 🧍
@ more like “I’m you’re boss now. This is MY house, you just live in it”
I was gonna say, are still maintaining that he’s “not my cat?” 😂
A tale old as time lmao 😂
If you still have extra scales you could make a comfortable jacket to wear casually on your trip when you are not wearing the dress. Something to be a fun part of your everyday wardrobe. ❤ This project is so cool to watch come to life! Can’t wait to see this beauty finished.

Agreed, the jacket is GORGEOUS
Watching the chaos and process of this costume, I'm becoming so invested in seeing this come to life!
I am in a scale frenzy right now!
Its so amazing to watch how she can diagnose whats wrong with the pattern by the way it fits and pulls in places. When I sew its an endless process of pinning and trying on lol. Shes a fashion idol and witch I swear.
I love the technical! Drafting is just like making a maquette before starting the actual sculpture. You're sculpting with fabric! So cool.
Exactly!
Very exciting! I love that we will see everything from concept, to design , and everything else! Can’t wait for the next video!

I was thinking the exact same thing. So helpful to have a little opening at the wrist so that the gloves don't need to be removed completely
Can a wrist opening and buttons be retroactively added to purchased gloves? Or would that be harder than making them from scratch?
@@gabriellerussell8484 Good question, I have the same problem and was considering adding a zipper, but I'm not sure how
Something in my little kid memory - back in the early 70's when women wore gloves on nice occasion - tells me that it's possible to have a zipper run from the wrist to the end of the elbow. They were tricky to deal with (hard to tell what would be fussier - buttons or a zip) but it is possible.

If I had a studio buddy like that kittycat I would be sooo driven to work 😭🥰
it has begun! no joke I got goosebumps when I saw this in my recommended, can't wait to go on this journey!
I know you said the first sleeves weren't right but just a moment of appreciation for how dramatic and beautiful they were 😍

Yess! Can’t wait to see this dress in progress!
dont forget the horse tail hair!
All those scales are a testimony to how much you are loved by your fans!
I can't wait to see the finished project!
I enjoy your videos, this one reminded me of the sawing parties my friends and I had in the 90s.

Thanks for sharing so amazingly your creation process. I've never got a so deep insight on the draping technique
I am genuinely surprised by how fast you drapped onto the mannequin! Some real skills there

Whoa, I’m tired just watching you make the pattern, mock up and reworking the pattern. Whew!❤
You can do this!
We all have supreme faith in you!
I am SO excited to see how this dress comes together!!!
I really love that you got the French Shirt in Japan, that’s exactly the kind of thing that would tickle me and that I’d buy😅😁
The way your intro shot the D&G fall-winter 2009 collection into my head! Looking back it obviously has 18th century inspired elements and that is my thing. Maybe I should take some action with it too, after 15 years. 😁
Can't wait for the next "technical" video, because I was always wanted to see how those crazy dresses were made.
I'm dying from excitement watching to see the final dress.❤❤❤
Watching you create the pattern was SO cool, it totally is a super power! I definitely want to learn how to do this!!!
I feel like I just witnessed the launching of a ship on a long trip. Bon voyage, Ariel! Thank you for the postcard!
I looooove your more "structural" videos!! You are so unbelievably skilled and it is amazing to see more about it! ❤
I like your concept even more than the original. It will be stunning. And its such a joy to have you so committed to honouring all the support this community has given.
this is so cool!!! i really enjoy getting a glimpse of what goes into making an intense haute courture garment like this
I LOVE THIS! I know this dress will be absolutely beautiful once finished & getting to watch the process from the start is fascinating.
I also like the technical aspect & explanation given around draping. I’m a complete beginner to sewing & still quite nervous, so this info is very much appreciated.
You got this! ✊🏾
So excited to see this haute couture dress come together before our eyes 🎉
Love the technical pattern making side, I learn so much from you!

I can't wait to see the finished project!!
Loved seeing you pattern this out ! I am a real beginner in sewing, so this was great !
It’s fascinating to watch and really exciting, can’t wait for the next instalment xx
Bébu always steals the show. A beautiful fluffy boy.
LOL I looked at your jacket at the beginning of the video and i thought i would love to see how that is made and get a pattern, it is really interesting. So that is an idea for a video.
