Hi Dev and Mike I'll tell you a little story. In 2004 went with my husband to see Robert and his band. My husband was not a zepp fan but knew how much I loved them. He was a dead head. He said to me don't b disappointed if he's not the same singer because he did strain his voice a lot. Well he left that concert shocked. Robert did all zepp songs and sounded like he was 19 again. Lol my husband rest in peace became a fan. Yes the goats. 😊

The 24th was my night there. It would be 4 more years before I saw them again here in England, that being both shows at Knebworth 1979. Then it took another 28 years before I saw them again at the O2 reunion in London. Still the greatest band for me.

While I've been listening to Zeppelin for over 50 years, never saw them live 😢, there are songs from their albums that didn't hit in the moment. The Song Remains the Same and the Rain Song were great. Kashmir became my favorite Zeppelin song the first time I heard it.
Listening to these live videos gives me a better take on them all these years later.
My favorite version is from the Celebration Day show. Decades after they quit playing as a band they nailed that whole set.

The top neck has 12 strings, doubling the amount of a standard guitar. Each string is accompanied by another string that plays the same note an octave higher. Jimmy Page is holding down two strings with each finger during his solo. He didn't do that in Stairway (the reason Jimmy had to acquire the guitar). Amazing! Thanks again! My go-to live number for Zep! Also, JPJ is playing a mellotron for The Rain Song. The same instrument used by The Beatles for Strawberry Fields Forever. The keyboard/tape-loop machine has pre-recorded original orchestral instruments programmed for the keyboard. It's more like a mixer than a standard organ. The Beatles were actually sued by orchestra members for violating their union. Great instrument. :)

The back and forth that Robert has with the audience at these concerts is just as good as the music.
He’s a funny and witty guy and it passes the time while Jimmy gets strapped into whichever guitar he’s using next and let’s Jonesy climb over all of the keyboards he now has on stage.
The best bit of “spiel” I have heard from these 5 nights is on the 2nd night when after the first 3 songs and before getting into TSRTS, Robert spots Chris Welch who was/is a music journalist and he says “Anyway tonight’s not really a spieling night. We’re a very serious band. Been away a long time. Got to impress. Got that Chris?”
Great reaction guys and Mike you are going to love the version No Quarter from this run of concerts. It highlights Jonesy’s ability more than any other live song from any other concert ever did.

Bonzo plays every note of the song and then some. Someone pointed out to me that in the outro Bonham pedal-tunes his timpani (kettledrum) to each of Page's final ascending notes. I heard it well here! Thank you!

You guys need to do the reaction to the live concert in 2007 called celebration Day. There's still the greatest all time live rock band there it was. I got to see Robert plant and Jimmy Page together live in 1995 when they did the No Quarter album in tour. Was amazing.

Lovely but the best version is from the 1973 MSG live version where you play The Song Remains the Same in sequence with The Rain Song....and its Pageys favorite because I talked to him about that concert since I was there as a 14 year old chap

Mandrax, mentioned by Plant in his introduction to Kashmir, is the UK/Australian version of Quaalude. As a recreational drug it was useless in my experience because I slept the entire time. Plant's voice was back to its best by the time of Knebworth in 1979, which is the best live recording of Zeppelin playing Kashmir.

Kashmir live is good but for me the only version I'll listen to is the original 1973-74 studio version or from the 1990 re-mastered Mothership album. This band and especially Page/Plant had unbelievable stage presence like no other..

Zeppelin is so much more than a Rock and Roll Band. In the beginning, labels like Hard Rock, Heavy Metal and Classic Rock were not a thing. It was only later on most would create categories for Rock & Roll. Critics did try to label Zep and they wouldn't have it. They played softer mellow ballads just as well as the harder music they created. I am glad you two took this journey! I am a stickler for quality reactions and Mike and Dev you two do them very well, that says a lot about your characters. Thank Youztwo!

After 50 years of listening, I've never really had a favorite Zepp song, but within the last few months, I've come to the decision that "No Quarter" is, it's such a great song, but of course so is I'm Gonna Crawl, Tea For One, Ten Years Gone, When the Levee Breaks, Since I've Been Loving You, Whole Lotta Love, and How Many More Times, oh yeah, there's also ...

Thanks for these alternate versions. Plant got his voice exactly in the middle of Kashmir. My 'go to' is Misty Mountain Hop. All of those drum fills, and that hi-hat? nobody does that (all of Zep 4 he doesn't do the 'psst' sound. Just loose cymbals on Rock And Roll).✌️🙂

Not the best audio, but their performance more than makes up for it. This Kashmir feels more like at the beginning of the tour rather than after 35 dates. Fortunately, and to be expected, future performances of Kashmir were much better. Thoroughly enjoyed these renditions TSRTS & The Rain song. 👍 Looking forward to 'the dogs of doom howling'. 🐺
