Ive found 2 other versions . Jesus is a Dying Bed Maker by Charlie Patton ( very different sounding ) and a Josh White version that I think Zep used as a model for their explosive take on an old time hymn .
My favorite Led Zeppelin song, everyone is absolutely shining laying down a 10/10 performance. Maybe Heartbreaker is a better guitar riff, or When the Levee Breaks may be a betrer beat, Stairway has the most beautiful lyrics, but no song brings all the pieces together better than In My Time of Dying.
Led Zeppelin definitely did the south justice with the way they worked with the material. Should've given credit initially, but at least they aren't hypocrites. They're fine with sampling John Bonham's drums. Gotta give massive props on that.
Haha I love seeing a Zeppelin fan being born. Anyone with a legit eye and ear for greatness is what it takes. Transcending genres, stereotypes, race, age, .... and Zeppelin is the 🐐 rock band.
Amazing band! Keep in mind that the Earl's Court concerts were 5 shows over 9 nights and lasted at least 3.5 hours each...mind blowing!!! Thanks for your epic reactions
Love that album! It’s the one that forced me to go out and buy the LZ albums that I did not already possess. And I think that was true for a lot of people. As I recall, when Physical Graffiti came out all of their other albums reappeared on the album charts.
Considering he was recovering from the flu here, Robert soldiered through this performance like very few could. Most singers would have taken a rest day and canceled the show.
No matter how many times I see your reaction to the same song, I love it almost as much as the song itself. I guess because I know it’s a real reaction of enjoyment.
I’ve loved all of your reaction videos, I’ve watched each several times. Your reactions are so cute, & I know you really love Led Zeppelin too. Thanks for always making me smile.
Everything about this is PERFECT!! the rhythm section so hot and Jimmy's slide and of course Robert. I love the way the "movements" of this song weave in and out and then back in - such a masterpiece!!! The song was based in church and was recorded by Blind Willie Johnson back in the 1920's. This is that song on steroids!!!! Thanks for the great reaction. ☮
Your reaction the last few minutes had this 76 yrs old rocking like I did in the late 60's sand early 1970's . Those were the best times ever to be young.
Man, that was one hell of a reaction! Well done... and if you're in Portland like your sweatshirt says... I feel your pain, it was 110 here a couple weeks ago... stay hydrated and keep up the quality reactions. And there is no such thing as first place... just a world of unbelievable music waiting to be heard.
Near the end of this song, Robert sings "You know you shook me baby, you shook me all night long". Those are lyrics from another song of theirs called You Shook Me. You should try that one next. If you want a Zeppelin funk jam, do Trampled Under Foot from this same concert at Earls Court. Don't worry about trying to rank bands; each have songs for a time, place, mood, emotion and sometimes you need to hear a certain style because that's what you're feeling. I'm just glad you're enjoying them all. Now that you've been discovering this music, have you been sharing with friends/family? If so, what do they think?
There so tight here it's insane and live bands could never attempt this live ... There are the deal Rock Gods will never see a band like this in our lifetime !!!!
I saw them in 73, 75, and 77 and the Physical Graffiti of 75 Tour they were tighter and rocked hard much like the 68-71 period. 73 was exciting because it was my first and 77 lacked energy and you could see the band was getting in trouble. At least that’s my view now as opposed to then.
Saw Zeppelin in 7-17-73 - Seattle (my first concert !), then saw them again Monday and Friday (3-17-75 and 3-21-75 (they played this song) at Seattle Coliseum, and again on 7-17-77 at Seattle Kingdome. (77,000 people). The complete Seattle Kingdome show is on youtube ! 3 and a half hours. Zeppelin was filmed with 8 cameras.
Bro - you react just like me back in day. Mind blowing shit! Saw them in NY in 75 and 77. Best 2 concerts ever by far! The Who with Clash in 82 at Shea Stadium was epic but a distant 3rd
I saw an interview john Paul Jones gave once saying, “they were a jam band”. Some bands can only pull off their songs in a recording studio or play live note for note like the recording. Led Zeppelin could play any of their songs for as long as they wanted because they were such good musicians. JPJ with Bonham kept the pulse beating while Jimmy and Plant took their creative liberty. Not all bands are good live. With RUclips we get to watch these live performances none of us got to see even though we bought their albums as fast as they hit the record store. Greatest band of all time, period.
@@herbiesnerd , so sorry you didn't get to see them in concert but l did, many times and each show was a little different from the last, which made it exciting because we just weren't sure what was next, they had sooo many songs to choose from and they did mix it up, best time of my life 😜🤟
Seen this a year or two ago but never commented , comin back to say yes, as u said at the end there, there is TOO MUCH GREAT MUSIC, it's almost unbearable trying to discover all the great Classic Rock and others, lol! A good problem to have, though! Zep is my fave but I love so many so much!
I just subscribe because of your reaction to them, now start with their first album and work your way through them all, there's not one bad song, l'll be watching 😉 🤟
Blues decibilised into Blues Rock... at its very finest. You showed great appreciation for the power of this visceral rendezvous of exquisite voice with perfect guitar. Many- all- of their canon can be seen that way. But it's always the way they grab hold of your emotions for the ride. Magical. Hey, man- I"m a loyal sub of you, and I'm too old to write out your full name, so I've been calling you Pop....or just P? Like Robert Plant sings toward the end of Kashmir "Tell me! Tell me! Tell me! Tell me!"
There was a lot of mind blowing music back then. Add to the list: Humble Pie, The Who, Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Grand Funk Railroad, Chicago, Joni Mitchell, Carol King, Leon Russell, Al Green, Jefferson Starship, Fleetwood Mac ... too many to remember them all.
And that was just the tip of the iceberg. I don’t think most of us realized how lucky we were, how great things were back then, and not just in Rock music. In virtually every genre of music: Rock, R&B, Country, Jazz, Folk, etc. There was an embarrassment of riches. We kind of took it for granted because we thought it would never end.
Led Zeppelin and Yes are both in first place : they are the 2 bands who directly inspired Rush. See on a interview of Geddy Lee (Rush bassist) " When we met (Rush members) we were young, we listened to LZ and we wanted to play like them, we didnt make it, so have to find our own way ".About bass "Chris Squire, my main inspiration" . Page and Squire played together with Alan White (Yes drummer) on a short-lived band name XYZ (means ex-Yes and Zeppelin XYZ) beginning of the 80's
Love your Zepplin reactions! Great to see a youngster 😀 getting into true music. Zeppelin will live on as they will always be the benchmark of any musician or band. Four members at their best who will never be surpassed. Saw them at Kebworth in 79. Awesome!! Blew Chas & Dave off the stage🤣🤣🤣 Todd Rundgren was a good support though. You had to be there!
Nothing more can be said! 😎👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🐐’s!!!
Except AMEN!!!
let's say that it's allmost 50 years from this show
Nothing can be compared to Led Zeppelin, they are still the best of all times
I've probably heard Zeppelin a million + times, I always hear something different in Jimmy Page's guitar playing, the man is a freaking wizard!
Hes a Fire Breathing...Dragon ZOSO!! 🔥🔥🔥
Taken from an old blues song "Jesus Make Up My Dying Bed" by Blind Willie Johnson in 1927. This show is just fire! Great reaction, btw!
hi hubby’s name is Robert Johnson and our black lab is named Willie. We love the blues among LZ👍
Ive found 2 other versions . Jesus is a Dying Bed Maker by Charlie Patton ( very different sounding ) and a Josh White version that I think Zep used as a model for their explosive take on an old time hymn .
Hahaha you found it! One of my old time Zepp Favs! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
JPJ just killing it
Top form
It's cool to see people discovering Led Zeppelin decades later. So cool to watch. ❤
Jimmy Page channeling unseen forces through his guitar.
No one will ever even come close to Led Zeppelin it's impossible because they are perfection.
its a masterpiece. John Paul Jones at bass was on fire! They all were
Incredible the bass sound he gets on this one
@@mikephillips8810 hes so underrated. He was the soul of the best band ever and most dont know his name.....
My all-time favorite bassist, keyboard, piano, mandolin... you name it!
You're now ready for the 28 minute live version of Dazed and Confused! Greatest guitar solo ever recorded.
Can we talk about the BASS....HAVE MERCY!!!!
The GOD"S of ROCK! The GOLDEN GOD, the GUITAR GOD, the BASS< KEYBOARD GOD, the DRUM GOD!
Great reaction! John Paul Jones was following Jimmy all the way with that fretless bass! I love this video!
Jones was the hidden gem of the band. His influence was so important and not well known
Thanks!
thank you 🙏🏿
Led Zeppelin definitely did the south justice with the way they worked with the material. Should've given credit initially, but at least they aren't hypocrites. They're fine with sampling John Bonham's drums. Gotta give massive props on that.

Amazing band! Keep in mind that the Earl's Court concerts were 5 shows over 9 nights and lasted at least 3.5 hours each...mind blowing!!! Thanks for your epic reactions
Physical Graffiti - arguably the best album ever made.
Love that album! It’s the one that forced me to go out and buy the LZ albums that I did not already possess. And I think that was true for a lot of people. As I recall, when Physical Graffiti came out all of their other albums reappeared on the album charts.
Gotta be the best performer by anybody 🇬🇧👍🇺🇸
Every member brought their A++++++ game to this performance 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
When the music can make you FEEL so much that it makes you cry, you know that they are the GOAT.
Still listening today 2024 rock & roll will never die
My ex husband always watched Zeppelin. He had a very sweet collection of DVDs of Zep. Very big Zep fan!❤❤❤
Everything they do is amazing!
I love your Zep reactions.....YOU get it❤😂 and show the correct respect and appreciation❤
GOAT...no debate by pretty much anyone.
Considering he was recovering from the flu here, Robert soldiered through this performance like very few could. Most singers would have taken a rest day and canceled the show.
It's so fun watching you hearing all this great stuff for the first time. Now to find your reaction to Yes!
After many decades of pleasurable reflection, I've decided this is the greatest Led Zeppelin song. (Mind you, next week it'll be something else!)
Listen to the bass line!! It's killer
What a deeeeeeep groove. Grooviest, funkiest hard band that ever lived. That’s why the rappers love Zeppelin!
I love seeing our young people actually enjoy the music from my childhood..
Jimmy is going off. But that thunder resonating from the background known as JPJ is what i cant help but be blown away by. And im a drummer. Wow!
7.30 what you see is real : one of the biggest dig with a funky-blues-speed groove. Best rythm section on a mad volcano.
Shout out to John Paul Jones for some incredible work on bass
Oh yeah!
The bass is always compromised on RUclips, but man does he ever walk it around it here!
Zeppelin Rocked you to your core. What an experience.
No matter how many times I see your reaction to the same song, I love it almost as much as the song itself. I guess because I know it’s a real reaction of enjoyment.
This is fire!!🔥🔥 I was lucky enough to see the mighty Zep back in 1970 when I was 16. Best concert ever!
Greatest Rock Band Ever!
I’ve loved all of your reaction videos, I’ve watched each several times. Your reactions are so cute, & I know you really love Led Zeppelin too. Thanks for always making me smile.
Thanks for playing a totally awesome song. 🔥👍🤟😄
Was feeling really off today. Then, as I watched and listened to your reaction. My spirits lifted.
Thanks so much 🙏
Jimmy was on that night its some magical shit ya cant beat um
I love Led Zeppelin too bro!!!!!!
When other bands stop, Led just keeps on giving and giving. Soooooooooo fine. Sooooooooooo fine!
Just like fresh oysters, these guys are best au naturaaaaaallllllllll.
I really enjoyed your reaction to my favorite band of all time.
Your reactions are PRICELESS...because your HONEST
pope u got the best reactions
Zeppelin is the Greatest Rock Band of all time. They're number 1
It just does not get any better than this. No autotune or computers, just supreme musicians at the top of their game.
Nobody beats Zepp.. "Nobody's Fault".. "How Many More Times".. "Achilles Last Stand".. "Ten years Gone".. so many classics
Everything about this is PERFECT!! the rhythm section so hot and Jimmy's slide and of course Robert. I love the way the "movements" of this song weave in and out and then back in - such a masterpiece!!! The song was based in church and was recorded by Blind Willie Johnson back in the 1920's. aint suprised they became the legends they are today loved them the first timearound allways thought they were somthing special
Ain’t nobody better than Led Zeppelin my humble opinion
Your reaction the last few minutes had this 76 yrs old rocking like I did in the late 60's sand early 1970's . Those were the best times ever to be young.
glad u enjoyed !

Electric Blues like this can be a very powerful experience. When you let yourself feel what they feel you get carried off to a special place.

We had so much music back in the 60s and 70s that I didn’t know who to listen too. The music just came at you.
Bro - you react just like me back in day. Mind blowing shit! Saw them in NY in 75 and 77. Best 2 concerts ever by far! The Who with Clash in 82 at Shea Stadium was epic but a distant 3rd
NEED WE SAY MORE🎵🎼🎸 LED ZEPPELIN 🎶
A testament to what pure talent, assorted quality drugs and unseen forces can accomplish..
Another dose please.
Cheers.
They're stupid good. Love you are so into them. We Boomers were spoiled. 👍🤙❤
massive zep fan, never heard this banger
you nailed this.
You're lucky. You're young and have all the time to hear all the greats!
greatest band of all time
"You remember fun?" 😂
Thanks, this is one of my favorite performances of this song. Check out Kashmir live at Knebworth 79.
These guys are gods..they toured in a private 707 that had a fireplace...
Honestly surprised how tight they played that rhythm, it always sounded so complicated to me.
I saw an interview john Paul Jones gave once saying, “they were a jam band”. Some bands can only pull off their songs in a recording studio or play live note for note like the recording. I know how to play!!! I loved it so much
I know, It’s amazing how well they do this live. Then again, I shouldn’t be surprised they always amaze.

Love your crazy energetic reaction to this - you remind me of myself when I was there at Earl’s Court in ‘75!
Do their song, "Since I've been loving you" one of their best blues Rock songs.
Yes, and I recommend the studio version first, from Led Zeppelin III. It's definitely worth it.
Blues decibilised into Blues Rock... at its very finest. You showed great appreciation for the power of this visceral rendezvous of exquisite voice with perfect guitar. Many- all- of their canon can be seen that way. But it's always the way they grab hold of your emotions for the ride. Magical. I told someone earlier my name is Jean Claude van dam 😅 but you can call me pope for short..I appreciate you listening along the journey 🙏🏿
I love your reactions Pope - you love them like I do 😂 thanks!
INTENSE !
Zep was all about the blues greats: Howlin’ Wolf, Albert King, Willie Dixon, Blind Willie Johnson, Sony Boy Williamson, etc.
With that hand gesture, Jimmy Page was blessing the crowd. You can do stuff like that, when you are a rock god.
Straight 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The album version is even more haunting, imho. Love this one too but the studio one has an eeriness to it that carries you along.
Oh you can put Zeppelin in 1st place 🥇
Your the best I've seen on these matters.
Thank you⭐️
Pope, your the best. I love when you laugh because its so good!
too good!!

Killer performance.
Love your reaction to this fantastic song, to this day I’m happy I saw Led Zeppelin in the 70’s, feeling nostalgic

This is Sunday morning service in the church of the Zep.
I’ve been loving your Zep reactions. Suggest “Achilles Last Stand” live at Knebworth. Don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
I was there I was a lucky young man
luckyyyyy
This is great!!
