On March 27, 2023, my sister took her own life. She was a lifeling LZ fan and Physical Graffiti was her favorite album, Kashmir her favorite song. After the initial shock the family began to get on with the process of dismantling her estate. She owned a 2013 Honda CR-V. The vehicle was entrusted to my possession until we could make some repairs, clean it and get it ready for sale, which necessitated me driving it to various shops. One day while driving I noticed that the audio unit in the car was displaying that there was a disc in the CD player. "I wonder what she was listening to..." so I pushed the play button. The real beauty of Led Zeppelin? That they could do what Randy correctly said they could, and then in the next breath they're sitting down with acoustics and playing "That's The Way" or "Going to California." Their influences came from everywhere, and they synthesized them perfectly. Zeppelin's music was like a multi-faceted jewel....light and shade indeed.

The greatest band of all time. The unbeatable level pf 4 virtuosos. Jimmy Page, Robert Plant , John Paul Jones and John Bonham. No band was even close to this outer of our world combination of talent, skill and matching power of 4 people.

I always wondered who coughs at the end, someone recently said it was Bonham, I love how they leave things like that in their music. In the live Pages solo is longer & more mind blowing, & Plant adds to his lyrics, they do what they are feeling at the time. Every live performance of the same songs are different, that to me makes them the greatest.

They are not too different because it was both were made about the same time within a year.. I recommend --- The Song Remains the Same and The RAIN Song and live or studio but make sure you do those two together especially if you choose the live version and the studio versions are great together also..

Definitely listen to the studio version...it's one of the few songs I don't think they ever did better live. When it gets going, Bonzo takes off and plays LEAD DRUMS, and Jimmy let's him!

I have seen Zep twice in my life and this song is a 1920’s gospel song they Zep uped. But Zep is the greatest band ever to exist. But in concert they improvise on the fly they may never do the same song the same way twice in concert.

It's so wonderful to see a younger generation appreciate the music and culture of my world, the Golden Age of Rock. I lived it as a teenager in the 70's. It was amazing with not only the concerts but living in Los Angeles with the Mighty Met KMET and the great KRock KROQ FM radio stations that would play half or whole albums live. It was the wild west of music and radio.
Corporate music and radio took over and killed it and we have mostly crap music these days. Name any current band that is on the level of Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Steely Dan, Van Halen etc. There are none IMHO.

Have you two never checked out Stevie Ray Vaughn? If not, I highly recommend you do. A good starting point would be Texas Flood, Live at El Mocambo. You clearly appreciate excellent guitar work, and there's nobody better than SRV.

All of these songs youre reacting to come from a rock and roll movie called The Song Remains the Same. You should watch it. Its pretty cool to see some of their best performances. Kick back and burn one before hand though. Do it right.
