How about Dinosaur Jr. 'Where You Been' album?

When my wife was pregnant we had this speaker contraption that strapped to her belly and played music to stimulate the baby. It allegedly was supposed to help brain development. A disc with Beethoven and other classical composers music came with it but we played Orion and Call of Ktulu instead. We did it almost daily with both kids. I don’t know if it worked but with a stethoscope I could make out the melody through her by listening to her back and both kids are straight A students so who knows. It didn’t help with their musical taste they listen to crap tictok music these days.

My favorite Rush song and also my favorite guitar solo of all time. Very rarely a guitar solo sings out the lyrics this way.

I first heard the song on the day Farewell to Kings was released back in 1977 and it remains my favorite Rush album of all time and Xanadu as my favorite Rush song. Probably because I'm a major prog nerd (I've seen Genesis 36 times in concert and Yes 24 lol) I've only seen Rush twice in concert, once back in 1978 and then again on their next to last show ever in Portland on the R40 tour. Both times they played Xanadu and it was amazing. They also played all of 2112 at the Portland concert and I was in Rush heaven. Lest you think I'm only an old material Rush fan, Clockwork Angels, the last studio album is in my top three Rush albums after FtK and 2112.

How many moods are there in this piece of music. Fantastic!

In the late 80's Metallica was in their prime, and they used to do 2-4 hour shows at breakneck speed, and yes the band was able to play that fast. It was insane. I went to a number of their concerts back then. If you want to see how fast they get, check out the Seattle 1989 live version of Battery.

NOW, from the same year (1976)........if you really want to hear some spectacular guitar work....TRY the track "STARGAZER" from the RAINBOW Rising album. Guitarist = Ritchie Blackmore, Vocals = Ronnie James Dio, Drums = Cozy Powell. You will NOT be disappointed.

The entire album is a masterpiece. In my humble opinion, their best. Was lucky enough to see them play the entire album in Toronto at the CNE stadium in 77. Still have the ticket. Mind-blowing...
