Been a console player all my life just bought my first pc last week best thing I’ve done! Taking some getting used to using keyboard and mouse rather than a controller but I’m getting better each day and my god the reflex’s on shooting games etc is out of this world with a mouse

My 10 yo is getting into gaming so this was a helpful video, I would love a video on exactly how to build and prep a gaming pc for a mom who is not at all techy. That would be a fun mother son project someday
As a first start for a 10 year old i suggest a pc 1k below to see how it goes cause if you wanna start getting serious i suggest doing 1000$ pcs or more
You should make a video where you show exactly how to build a pc, every detail, everything. The video would be around an hour long and people who are building a pc could really use it since all your video's go over it pretty fast.
One big flaw that I often see on PC build videos is they TALK TOO FAST. They know what they are doing so they zip along as if we know too, but we don't. Slower and more precise is very much better for builders of little or no experience.

I just bought my first gaming pc earlier this evening. I built my own low range one back in 2002 that lasted me maybe a year before it became a media machine. I haven't owned a desktop since and have gamed strictly on consoles since. After playing VR games on the PSVR2 on my ps5 lately and feeling the drought of games for it, I finally decided to drop a pretty penny on a decent rig and am so excited to get started. Thanks for posting this video to help get me back up to speed.
Loving your videos! i’m currently in the process of building my first very own pc and your videos are helping me out on how to build one and what to do when i have it setup. Thank you for your videos
Same here, just waiting for the last parts to arrive and the setup will be complete. I’ve found out that building a pc is pretty simple and very fun. Hope to see your build one day
I recently just built my dream PC (and setup) for about $4000. No regrets in every penny spent instead of getting a PS5 + 4K monitor. PC is so so so so much better in all ways
I just wanna say thank you for all the info and knowledge you're giving through these videos. I just dropped 3k on a PC with some good specs and this is my first Beast of a rig as I am coming from a console. After watching a few of your videos going into this seems a lot less intimidating and it's almost like this channel has been holding my hand so kudos to you and Merry Christmas. 👍🎄
I bought a prebuilt, and just upgraded the components as I went, much better than building from scratch and risking damaging a component. Just my two cents though..
So, as a 30 year old who has never owned a PC before, I've started my build journey and have been really looking forward to playing games I've played on consoles like the Civilization games, Assassin's Creed, Halo, probably won't ever play CoD, and I'm excited to experience the depths of games that having a PC allows. I am so ready to play games.
Dropped a sub and like. Found your channel randomly and love the fact you embrace your "dorkiness". It makes for a more genuine video and adds more character to your channel! Too many tech youtubers focus purely on high end equipment (some credit mid range stuff that's pretty epic but they seem to begrudge doing so) keep the content coming 💯🔥
One year ago I was building my first PC with a 3070 for Apex only. Now I am here with a new PC with a 3090 in it. Running a whooping 170-190fps 2560x1920 🤩
@@eyeamdee6209 I just finished my second build today. I really recommend it. There are some very good videos out there that I just followed step by step, and I encountered 0 issues. I learnt a buttload about how the pc works, temperatures, fan curves, it's all been very very fun, and really gives me the idea I know my PC's in and out. Also makes you kinda proud, knowing you put your own stuff together. So yeah I'd definitely recommend building your own, it's not nearly as difficult as you think :)
@@eyeamdee6209 I’m not your average tough guy PC dude. If you’re wanting to build one to learn all your components, then do that. If you’re wanting something where you can get the parts you want like I did with the 3090, pre-built might be the safest route!
Nice one. I am looking at building a PC and Apex is literally the only game I play lol (currently on series s). My goal is to build a rig that will run the game at around 144fps on a 1440p resolution monitor. Won't be cheap but will totally be worth it I know.
I plan on getting into PC gaming ASAP for my RUclips channel. Thank you for explaining the basics to someone who knows next to nothing about computers. I tried playing Phasmophobia on my sad little laptop, and it didn't go so well lol
Hey there! Thanks for your comment. I totally agree that discussing the pros and cons of buying used PCs would have been a valuable addition to the article. When it comes to purchasing used tech, it's important to consider factors like warranty, potential hardware issues, and compatibility with newer software. Additionally, researching the reputation of the seller and thoroughly inspecting the system before buying are essential steps. It's definitely a topic worth exploring to help beginners make informed decisions. Let me know if you have any other questions or if there's anything else I can assist you with!
I have decided that im not chasing the newest version gaming consoles anymore, and i want to build a PC. Ive learned a lot from you already. Thanks *Subscribed*
Good information. I've been building PC's since the 90's, so much easier now! Always nice to hear a different take on things. I would say ensure you have enough spare resources to account for any background tasks. Build is better, if you want to just buy get a console. Obvious this was Nvidia sponsored but everyone has to earn a living 😉
I don't know if i will get an answer here but here's hoping. Last night I was playing a game and it was running a little slow (fps drops and freezing) for reference I have a 2080super, 16gb of ram and a Intel i7-9700k. So I closed out my game and went looking for a reason as to why the fps drops were happening. First stop.... storage space, I went to my D: drive and deleted some old RUclips recordings/game clips and then moved to my C: drive which is 90% full and I thinks that's bad right? So I deleted the EFT (Live) folder in the battle state games folder and then resarted my computer. When it turned back on everything was going at like 1fps and after about 10 mins just completely shut off. I asked a friend and he thought I deleted a core file, so I restored every file except the EFT one because it was to large to restore. It is now the next morning and still barely working and turning off after 10-15 mins. I don't know what to do besides take it somewhere. Any advice?
As someone currently gaming on a dell inspiron laptop (Runs on Vega 8 integrated graphics) I'm excited to evntually build a proper gaming pc. Beyond the initial investment it seems so much more convenient than console gaming. Your library is always there, online communities are a lot more active, buying games to build out your library is a lot cheaper and not charging me to play online is a welcome return coming from console gaming.
Hi I am new to pcs and am looking to buy one. I just wanted to ask, if I buy a gaming pc, is it the same as a normal pc as in I can still do normal stuff on it like browse on the internet, word ect. Thanks 🙏
Discord is selling information in really sketchy ways. On top of that my Mac warned me discord was trying to access my keystroke data outside of discord… at least Mac is good for that
You are awesome my dude! Thanks to you, I know how the confidence and know how to build my own gaming PC haha I'm buying a pre built thought for my first one, but when I'm ready to up grade I'll be doing up a semi custom rig 😎👌 Thanks man! Keep it up, you are inspiring me to do tech stuff on my channel 👍👍👍
Likewise! I know a lot of people hate on it, but I’m basically buying a pre-built one but I can still pick certain parts like the GPU and a few other components. I don’t really know what I’m doing and am getting into it brand new so in my opinion it’s my safest option. From there I can always upgrade it as I learn more. Best of luck
I am very thankful and happy I sold my console when I was 16 years old and never looked back. It doesn’t consume any of my time today and I can focus on my career and accomplishment’s
I'm a pc and playstation gamer The biggest advantage of console gaming is less power usage. Gaming pcs use a whole lot of electricity compared to console. Some will complain about installing drivers but it's not rocket science nor is it difficult even for a beginner. Download , double click press next a few times and you're done. The majority of the time you don't have to tweak driver settings.
Thanks for posting this even though this was uploaded to RUclips 2 years ago it still helped I have a feeling it did certainly help thank you PC Centric!
I've been playing on PC for nearly a year and it's definitely better than console once it actually works. I'm surprised how a 3rd gen i5 and gtx 1050ti can run newer games such as FH5 @ 1080p 80fps but definitely needs upgrading in a few months
should of kept on console, pc is not all its cracked up to be. most of the stuff on this video is not completely true. save your cash and get a playstation.
I'm BRAND new to PC gaming. I just bought my first computer in like 12 years and it came with OMEN gaming hub so I wanted to give it a go. I do play PS5, sports games mostly, but I was just going to sign up for GeForce because it popped up and it's asking The account I want to add my games (steam, epic, Ubisoft connect etc) and it's already like a foreign language to me. I'm lost! Any help would be greatly appreciated!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
PC games are distributed through various digital stores like the PS Store. Its just that there isn't just 1 unified store. There are a myriad of stores that sell games. So you have to make accounts with each service that you want games from, purchase your games and then download them.
I am so glad I have manage to build my own PC with a Intel Pentium III at 733Mhz 512mb SDRAM 3DFX Voodoo 3 3000 Sound Blaster Live! an SD Card as a hard drive & Windows 98.
Acts 2:38 and John 10:30 are scriptures I challenge every Christian to look deeper into. Pray for wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and revelation. Jesus Loves YOU!!! All of you have a blessed day; Amen Hallelujah 🔥🙏🏾
I want to build instead of buying a prebuild but i think im overthinking it... Im unsure exactly what parts to get. When it goes to actually building it i have watched long tutotials and it doesn't look to hard just slotting things in and stuff. What im reallt worried about is getting the right parts and how i know if i get a case that fits the parts and if it wont work and stuff lol.
I just bought a prebuild for 1360 USD and I calculated that if I built it myself it wouldve cost me 1830 USD. I'm from South Africa that's why it's more expensive. For example, for $100 more than what the newest iphone cost in the USA I can buy a Ticket to fly to NY from South Africa buy it there and fly back.
After watching all the pc builds or pre builds, I have to say pcs have everything! All you have to do is just make a big ol investment and you can be happy longer that the console players (currently am)
i have a predator monitor 144hz it has DP and HDMI input i want to plug it with my gaming desktop should i use the DP or HDMI connection what is better for higher fps
PCs have many different gaming platforms. It isn't like Xbox or PS where you can only buy games through the respective online store or through discs. You have Steam, Rockstar game launcher, epic games, Ubisoft connect and a myriad of other game platforms to buy and download games. If you build your own PC, you buy the parts to assemble it. If you buy a pre-built gaming PC, then its already assembled and has everything you need.
Wish I seen this vid before I built my laptop. Customized my options from Dell. I opted for the Alienware M17 R5 with the AMD series. I chose the UHD 3840x2160 120hz, 2TB SSD, 64gb DDR5, and the AMD 6850 XT graphics card and the ryzen 9600 series. However I don’t regret it, the machines a monster.
I have no idea about this stuff nor do i really know anyone that does… i am looking to buy my first gaming pc i see one person say you can never find a good pre built pc and that building is better but i also see people saying if you dont have the $2000 to build than buy a pre built im rlly lost hopefully this series helps if not idk
There are many videos and guides and articles online explaining how PC parts work. As for finding what the best parts are for a given budget or use case, that can get tricky. You'll need to read/watch a lot of reviews.
question, you say if you buy an nvidia GPU you can install g force experience is there an equivalent of this for AMD? ive literally no idea about PC gaming hence why im here lol. Thanks :)
If James Hoffmann had a son who was a gamer, you would be that son. Lol I’m wanting to get into PC, it seems like these days, consoles and PCs have switched up quite a bit. I grew up when consoles were as good as gaming got, nobody had gaming PCs and if they did, the experience was garbage, and it just made more sense to have a console but PCs have come so far and now it seems like most people who are serious about gaming (even as a hobby) have a gaming PC and consoles. It just seems so much more versatile to have a PC. Especially as someone who is wanting to start a gaming channel, it makes way more sense to consolidate everything into a PC and having the ability to make it a more seamless process. And I’m totally sick of the console wars. I haven’t been able to get my hands on a PS5 and I’m not sure if I’m ready to fully switch to Xbox, so it seems like a good time to try out PC. And- free online? Hell yes. PlayStation switching from PSN to PS+ was fucking ridiculous
I can't get it to turn on. I'm trying to test my first pc. I think it's the switch on the power supply but I don't want to mess it up. I got a 4090 and ryzen 9 7950x3d. It's brand new in just computer dumb. I can barely use Facebook and that's still a struggle.
I've been looking into PC gaming for the past 5 years and JUST started my build with the help of my partner. I am using my PC for multi media [Streaming and gaming] I have my Windows on a HDD [Hard Disk Drive] while my games and media are on a SSD [Solid state drives] I learn on how to build my PC from my partner, brother and a channel here for LinusTechTips. I have also played my games on a console and normally get those people who are toxic, on PC I have only had one and that was while playing Resident Evil 5 but far as I have seen games look and feel better on PC then that of a console. I am glad to of moved to PC and I wish I did it sooner XD My MOBO, CPU and RAM cost me £500 as I have gotten these parts, MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk, CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 3800X [3.9GHz], RAM - Kingston FURY Beast 16GB [3200MHz] and PSU - AeroCool Intergrator 850W (80+) I am still looking into GPU but that is still under TBA as I'd like to check views on each GPU
I have so many questions. if i buy a pre made gaming desktop do I still have to buy a graphics card? and if I have wifi but it's downstairs do I have to hook it up to the desktop or can i just log into it like a phone?
That depends entirely on the computer you buy. If it has a graphics card, then you don't need to install one unless you want a better one. Most PCs nowadays have built-in Wifi so you should be able to connect it like you would any other wifi device. Just verify that the PC in question does have wifi.
I’ve always heard about pc gaming. Never really knew anything about it in depth. Still don’t but now I’m considering it. Ditching the ps5 and moving to pc. But like I said I don’t know anything lol. If I were to want to get a set up , how do I do that ? It’s not a regular computer and monitor is it ? They’re specific gaming computers and monitors
Suppose you buy a GeForce RTX such as the Asus/MSI/Zotech 4070, 4080, 4090 but are not manufactured by Nvidia...does the Nvidia Geforce updates still work on non Nvidia manufactured cards ?
Yes that works. Nvidia makes the drivers and reference cards. Brands like Asus, MSI etc take that reference design and build variations of it. But they're still the same graphics chip so they run the same drivers.
@@JJFlores197 Thanks, just got my first gaming PC. All pre-built (though I was able to choose what parts)...the more I look into setting it up the more confusing it gets - esp for me as a console gamer since the Snes days.

I want to build a pc for the first time, but I have no idea were to start. What gpu do I want? CPU? Ram? Graphics card? It’s seriously like learning a new language for me
Does the mother board make a difference? I’m thinking about buying my first pc and I’m trying to figure out what all the parts do so I can make a good decision on what I want.
I bought a pre built from nzxt. Needed to get another case fan which was annoying but it taught me some things taking out the bracket to put the fan in
Hey everyone I’m thinking of getting a pc and some that I’m looking at say 32 gb what does that mean?If it’s storage if that’s the case and y ps5 game on average is around 60-82 gb to be stored then how is it supposed to be able to store the games also what’s the difference between RAM memory and storage ?(please reply I’m genuinely lost)
There are 2 types of computer memory: system memory (RAM) and system storage. RAM - Random Access Memory is a type of memory that's used as temporary storage. When you load up a game or program, parts of the game get copied from main storage (system storage) to RAM so that the CPU (processor) can process the data. RAM is temporary storage because it is only used to temporarily store data; think of it like a scratchpad. The system storage or main storage is the hard drive and/or SSD. This is where all of the data that you have on your computer - say games, documents, pictures, movies, etc is all stored. The more RAM a computer has, the larger the programs that you can have open without performance issues. Most gaming PCs nowadays have around 16-32 GB of RAM. Main storage is usually a lot bigger. Most computers have at least 500 GB of storage, if not a lot more.
Love the purple theme I definitely would have the same color scheme if I get into the whole pc thing it gets more tempting every day lol. Thanks for the helpful video

You should make a video where you show exactly how to build a pc, every detail, everything. The video would be around an hour long and people who are building a pc could really use it since all your video's go over it pretty fast.
would definitely help a lot of people out.

Always nice to watch these and realize you have to humble yourself with these videos to learn more!
Great content as always!!

Nice one. I am looking at building a PC and Apex is literally the only game I play lol (currently on series s). My goal is to build a rig that will run the game at around 144fps on a 1440p resolution monitor. Won't be cheap but will totally be worth it I know.

The sponsor might have been a limiting factor there but good idea

Good information. I've been building PC's since the 90's, so much easier now! Always nice to hear a different take on things. Any advice?

The biggest advantage of console gaming is less power usage. Gaming pcs use a whole lot of electricity compared to console.
Some will complain about installing drivers but it's not rocket science nor is it difficult even for a beginner. Download , double click press next a few times and you're done. The majority of the time you don't have to tweak driver settings.
gaming PCs use more power than consoles, but not by that much

Two questions what platform do you play your games and doesn't your gaming PC come with the graphic card already

I’m wanting to get into PC, it seems like these days, consoles and PCs have switched up quite a bit.
I think i might be getting one next month
I am glad to of moved to PC and I wish I did it sooner XD My MOBO, CPU and RAM cost me £500 as I have gotten these parts, MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk, CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 3800X [3.9GHz], RAM - Kingston FURY Beast 16GB [3200MHz] and PSU - AeroCool Intergrator 850W (80+)
