- Welcome to the new Bay Area Dirt Biking channel. In this channel I will be providing you with a library of videos and tips for some of the most popular dirt biking trails around the Bay Area. Hopefully these videos will give you a good idea of what a trail is going to be like before you ride it for the 1st time, and help you stay out of trouble. In this first video we will be taking a quick look at at what I would consider to be the top 3 most popular dirt biking parks near the Bay Area (Carnegie, Hollister and Metcalf), which will be the initial focus of the trails presented in the channel. Don't miss the cool drone video footage in the video using a Skydio 2 autonomous drone.

It's perfect timing that I found this video since I need to get some practice in at these parks. I'm 64 and have decades of street riding and a couple of summers of novice trials events. Now I got bit by the ADV bug and just bought a KTM 390 Adventure, modified it, and will be riding BDR's (maybe NM in March). I'm enjoying this new chapter of my life... retirement!

I was at Carnegie this last weekend and flew off a two cliffs about 35 feet total and fractured one rib , dislocated my shoulder and blew out my left knee. The helicopter had to get me .. Stay on the named trails and don’t end up like me ladies and worms 😂.

Is there a specific trail you would like to see covered on the channel?
@@bayareadirtbiking249 I guess all the beginner/ intermediate trails would be a good first video, covering some of the tougher sections for someone new, like the H2O hill, trail 2B, the trail 3 downhill, Loma Prieta left and the uphill coming back. I always tell newbies to watch out for trail 1 downhill if it's their first time and they should probably do trail 2 before 1.

Hey Bob, I live right below metcalf off Bernal. I just got a 2001 yz250 and was wondering if you would teach me a thing or two sometime lol. I have experience with mtb and street riding on a motorcycle but this is my first big bore dirt bike.
@@n-motion9318 Normally, I'd be glad to. But I haven't been to Metcalf in many months due to a variety of factors. But if you get on SBR or BARF forum, I'm sure you can hook up with someone.

Hey there, fantastic videos! I thought I posted a comment on another video recommending you check out the Burlington Trail system however I can't seem to find it. :(
Anyway, these are fantastic videos, wish I had this resource when I started riding 5 years ago!
It would be awesome if you could do reviews on:
1. Burlington Trail system
2. Hungry Valley
3. Stonyford
4. Shasta
I don't have any plans at the moment to make videos on these parks but I hope to visit Stonyford in the near future. Thanks for the suggestion though. I suspect it will be hard to use the drone on some of these parks anyway due to the tall trees.
Hey I live in San Mateo, I ride a 4 wheeler, which trails would you recommend for me? The only park I go to is Esparto I would like to discover other trails, thank you.
I believe Hollister Hills SVRA has an OHV section. Give them a call to get more details.
For someone with no experience, whats the best way to get into dirt biking?
Do you own a dirt bike? Do you have any experience riding any type of motorcycle? How sure are you that you want to get into dirt biking?
So basically riding in the bay area sucks…
used to ride Carnegie alot, but had too many crashes due to the two way trails. I only ride Hollister and sometimes Metcalf now.
