Mountain Biking Pacifica for the First Time!

- Mountain biking Pacifica has been a bucket list ride for me for a LONG time! The first time I saw that ocean view while riding a downhill trail I knew I had to ride it! I'd talked with Poh and Jay WAY back on our Nevada City ride months and months ago about getting out there. Then Covid hit. Now we FINALLY had a chance to make it happen. And boy oh boy did it deliver. Epic descents. Chunk, bumps and berms. Not to mention some amazing views. It's definitely worth the drive and I'm hoping to make it back real soon.

This was way too good! Definitely exceeded all my expectations of how I thought it may turn out! Very inspirational editing filming and storyline skills! Wow 🤩 🔥🚲💨🤙🏼
BTW anyone who Negative propped this video is absolutely out of their minds jealous that they couldn’t have put together a video like this! Hah 😂
Thanks buddy! You know I'm gonna say I couldn't have done it without you! But this time it's REALLY TRUE! You held the camera while I piloted the drone! 😂
Young Pacificans were always building crazy shit even back in the 80s up in those hills. Amazing what they have done to boyscout which was actually 3 times wider back then. No jumps like that of course but the brush probably grew in when it became way more difficult to get motorcycles up there.
Wow...that's as beautiful as it gets 😍🤘🏼
Yea man. One of the greatest things about the sport we've chosen. The cliffs on that Fruita ride were stunning. The ocean views here will knock your socks off. We get to see SO MUCH amazing scenery on our bikes! Definitely something I don't take for granted.
Hell yeah, Joe! Rad edit! Looked like a great day on two wheels! 🤘🏾
Thanks Alan! This one stretched me creatively a bit. But that's one of the most exciting things about what we do. It's like sculpting a vision from a bunch of parts into something rad. Appreciate you man. We'll definitely get a ride in this year.
I LOVE the light in this video . Such a perfect winter day
Epic drone footage for the win, what an amazing trail totally on the bucket list!!!
Yea man. I didn't know much going in other than it had some AMAZING views. That sold me alone. But now that I've ridden it the trails really deliver. I was just HOPING it wasn't foggy the day we went out!
@@CaliradoKid right on man, well if definitely turned out amazing. On another note are you liking the new camera and what lens do you have for it
@@ScoutsOut Absolutely LOVING the new camera. Best camera I've ever owned. Hands down. I'm running the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 on it. It blows my mind how close I can get to the camera and still be crystal clear.
@@CaliradoKid nice, I’m sure that lens is 👌🏼, I went to the cannon side and want the same lens. Cool glad you enjoying it
I like your videos I am going to watch them when you post now
I like your style! I look forward to disappointing you in the future with my sub par videos. 😂
BROOOO! SO good! Great work!
Thanks guys! You need to get down the ASAP. Like...don't go ride Auburn this weekend. Go ride Pacifica. And I don't want to argue about NUTHIN!
Love your videos. Keep getn better and better.
Thanks a lot! This one was hard for me to put together. But I'm glad I took my time with it. I think it turned out to be a fun one.
Such fun times man! Good to ride with ya as always and dang you're killin' the production game bruh!
Man. I couldn't have tackled Mile like that without you guys showing me down! Such a rad day!
This video is so high quality! The editing, multiple shots/angles, great music, the riders and the location. This is some seriously badass content. So glad I found your channel. Great job, this was so enjoyable.
Thanks so much! I was always stoked at how this vid turned out. I kinda slowed down on long form content but I made a Spain series recently you might dig!
@@CaliradoKid I’ll check it out! A bit of MTB a bit of travel sounds great.
Okay, Joe Thats your best work yet! Very cool. I also loved the music.(although I like the sound of tires on dirt too, and you mixed that well). Great mix of drone and other footage. What a day. Thanks for sharing👍
Yea this video was tough to edit. I learned a lot doing it. But all those skills will carry over to future videos which is what excites me the most.
Well that explains Pacifica
Yea man! I feel like the picture of the trail from above is reason enough to ride that damned trail. So good!
Nice video mate...they boys where charging!
Yea man! I was just trying to keep up and not die while doing it! 😂
Your skills have gotten a lot better since your first videos. Nice man!
Thanks man! I'm definitely trying to better my craft with each video. Learn a few new tricks each video and one day I'll make my MASTERPIECE!
Damn Joe that was great!
Thanks big daddy! Much appreciated. Trying something different with each new vid.
That drone.. Now it's 1000% gonna be in to my bucket list
That thing is just a BEAST out in the open! It did a great job on this ride.
@@CaliradoKid Yup. The way it follows you and avoiding those trees.. DJI got serious competition now 😅.
I love your editing by the way.

That guy mr percussive is my idol he is expert on everything! One day I’ll be like him. Yewwwwwwlo 🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾
I've accepted the fact that I'll never shred that hard. But I'm also happy I can sit back and watch Poh do his thing any time I want! He's awesome.
Soo many cool videos, thanks!!!
That was awesome! ⚡️
Too much damned fun!
40 years ago the road was still 1.5 lanes for miles up until you got to the crossroads. The bunkers is where you saw some washouts but the road was in pretty good shape after 50 years. Mile had no erosion and there wasn’t even a trail. Just tons of rocks from either a slide or placed there to prevent one. The plant growth has taken so much of the road back and it looks a lot different. Great memories hiking and motorcycling up there. One day we went up to the towers with a packed lunch. We were above a blanket of clouds and it was truly an awesome day in my 15th year
Wow. So interesting to hear how the area has changed. It really is stunning out there and I’m kinda bummed I waited so long to get out there. But I’m stoked I could capture my first trip out there. Can’t wait to go back!
Dope footage
Thanks! I had good actors on those jumps! They got paid union wages and EVERYTHING! 😂
This is the best footage of Pacifica's trail. Damn great job!
Thanks a lot man! I still consider this to be one of the best vids I've made and really love that area. Wish I could get down there more often.
Still snow covered in Poughkeepsie, so it hurts a bit to see that nice weather and awesome trails! I’ve been learning to jump the last year or so, at 53, figured it was about time. I can’t recommend enough the Ryan Leech jumping course. Good luck and thanks for the video! I subscribed after hearing your B1ker interview. Good stuff!
Oh man. VERY little snow out here. I went snowboarding today and boy oh boy was it ICY! Thanks for sticking around! That B1ker interview was awesome!
mr percussive showing his experience on that trail. super fun when you mash thru it!
Poh's an absolute MANIAC! He's so awesome. Great guy. I remember seeing vids of him going down Pacifica on his gravel bike and thinking "this guys NUTS!" 😂
What a sick video!! Awesome music, editing and story. NICE!!!!!!!!
Thanks man! I had fun with this one. Super Stoked I was able to capture the day we had out there. It was a blast!
Awesome trails. Those chunky sections looked amazing and the drone footage really stepped up the view. Great video
Man o Man. That area is just GORGEOUS. And the fact that there's some legit gnarly trails there is just icing on the cake. What a blast. Can't wait to get back down there.
You definitely captured it very well with this awesome video......I'm taking notes 😉
Brother that was sick!!!😊
Ditto's man great stuff! like the camera angles in the beginning and shadow of drone in some shots was cool!
Thanks! This was such a great opportunity to get out there and try something new. It was fun watching these guys work!
Your editing game has really gotten a lot better over the last few months. Super slick edit despite the camera angle and the dark spots on the trail.
Thanks man! Yea so I think I took the GoPro off of 'auto white balance' and set it to 5000k. It exposed the lit areas well but had a hard time with the shadows for some reason. Tried to bring up the exposure in post but just blew out everything else too much. UGH. The RUclipsr's dilemma! I'm still jealous of the Sedona trip. FYI.
@@CaliradoKid I know what you mean. I've been trying to learn shooting with the 9 and honestly I've taken a bunch of crappy footage. As far as Sedona goes, you are in luck...the festival is in November. :)
Sounds like a birthday November Sedona trip is in my future!
Awesome video!! Digging the drone shots...👊🏽 Chin mounted GoPro captures pretty sweet smooth content...Great videos, they're funny & different...🤟🏽
Yea man. I gotta master the full face mount. But boy oh boy did the Skydio deliver!
Dope video as usual. Can't wait to hit Pacifica. #getoutanddostuff
Do it! Just try and make it on a clear day. Those views!!
Great opening.
Thanks! Pacifica is an amazing place!
Poh represent Mr. Percussive!👊
Yea man! The fact that he can ride this on a gravel bike cracks me up so much! Haha! He's a master on the bike!
@@CaliradoKid he is legit! love the drone footie
Totally sick man. Definitely your best cinematography and editing yet. Keep crushing it my friend!
Thanks! Yea I'm just slowly gaining new skills and editing chops. All to make Trailhead Troopers: Episode 2 ever BETTER! 😂
@@CaliradoKid Definitely want to be a part of that! Got a few ideas to help with the production.
@@TheActiveLife20 Awesome! When I get closer to production we're definitely going to circle up so I can get some knowledge from you. I should just let YOU direct the whole damned thing. haha
@@CaliradoKid I'm more of a cinematographer than director, but I'll help in any way you need!
Nice video, good biking skills!!!
Super cool !!!!
Dang! Calirado Kid just turned his RUclips game up to 11!!🤯 Nice work!!
Haha! Thanks man! Definitely learning some new tricks! 😂
Great quality video 👍
Thanks! Definitely captured the good times pretty damned good. It was a blast out there.
Awesome man! I need to head to Pacifica before I go back to Oregon. Some of those jumps and drops are huge 😳
You DEFINITELY should. Hope for a clear day and SEND IT! It's so good.
yeah! 🤘
Great. Loved the trail, views, footage, music and editing 🤘
Thanks! This was a pretty excellent first trip to Pacifica. Glad I could put something together that captured it.
Damn perfect footage! You did a damn great job! You caught Every trail I ride. And you did it with perfection!
Thanks a lot man! This was a fun one to put together. It's such an amazing area to ride.
Those trails are sweet!
They're so good! I gotta get back there soon!
@@CaliradoKid I can be your gear mule if you ever need.
Killer vid and I really get a kick out of your approach to this mtb RUclips stuff!
Thanks a lot. I love watching the different creators out there to see what they're doing. So many voices and different visions on what mountain biking is and can be. Such a cool landscape and community we have!
Captain will be your jumping coach!!!
I might damn well need it. Haha!
Great edit. Cool music.
Thanks! This was a fun one to put together!
Excellent video man
Much appreciated! This was a fun one to put together. Definitely learned some new skills on this one.
Those shots were the cooooooolest!!!! Killer video Joe!
Thanks man! Yea it's hard to screw up the shot with views like that!
Damn Joe that was a badass video. What a killer sesh. And don't forget to book your sedona trip now!!!! But seriously it be sold out before you know it
Good call!! Yes. Any recommended spots to stay out there?
@@CaliradoKid I'm bringing my camper and camping at a place called rancho sedona. Pretty awesome place with hookups if you want to go that route. Other than that I would check out the air bnb stuff. But like I said book it now. They gouge when they know they can
Sick 💯🤟🏾
This was definitely a sick day on the bike. No question.
Your getting good at this you tube thing
I'm trying! It's definitely a learning experience each time I make a new video. Thanks for checking it out!
Damn good video Joe! loved the views and the drone footage was awesome! Man, you are killing this you tube thang!
Thanks man! This one came together better than expected. A lot of first for me in this vid in terms of editing. But I'm really happy with how it came out.
epic trails .... nice & fast with a bit of spice thrown in 🤘
Definitely some chunk that could send you flying out there! Oh and the jumps too. Wow. I’m not brave enough for that just yet! 😂
Glad to see the drone still worked--great footage!
Yes! I haven't broke it yet which is a surprise to everyone. 😂 One good crash in the books from the last vid but definitely still operating as normal.
DOPE VIDEO! 🙌🏾
Thanks! Hell of a day. Glad I could capture the stoke!
that's how it should be when it comes to MTB vlog.
muchos good video
Killer vid bud! I need to get out to that area for sure.
Thanks Chris! That area is worth it for the views alone. Even if you DON'T tackle the gnarly stuff. Notice how I didn't do ANY jumps. 😂
found your channel through your cameo in crashing dad.. dude i love your channel!!!! I love your enthusiastic intros and the editing and content rules too! if u head to AZ, look me up, Im an hour from sedona in the forest, in Pine. my first year of content is norCal though, love seeing other granite bay stuff
Thanks for jumping on board! Glad you’re digging it. I’ll actually be in Sedona for the mountain bike fest in November. Looking forward to it!
Re subscribing after seeing that intro shot hopefully on dslr. Also drone featuring Somm helps elevate the production value
Well. Despite the fact that you'll likely UNsubscribe on my next video. I appreciate you coming back into the fold Tim! 😂
@@CaliradoKid I'm out...Jk, I was just overwhelmed with too many mtb channels and needed something fresh 🤕 We need cinematography imo.
Haha! All good! Yea there's definitely a lot of content out there these days. I take no offense to the occasion unsub. 😂
I love that everyone's out there trying to create and improve their craft. It's a fun time where no matter the subject you can make content about the thing you love. Gotta dig it.
Awesome. I have no clue why you dont have a million subs.
Haha! Thanks man. Yea I don’t know what the trick is to getting people to actually subscribe. I gotta get my damned marketing team to actually do some work for once! 😂
Great vid. You should come back and hit up XXX and also try going south instead of north at the Mile - would love to see that on the drone.
Man. I'd LOVE to. Especially since it's basically been so hard to ride in our area lately due to the smoke. Would be rad to get back to the cool ocean stoke of Pacifica!
Great camera work, even despite the gopro mounting!
Next time I come up there you & Gong need to take me to this!!!! Good video dude, drone footage is primo!!
Absolutely. But only if you rub the Sedona trip in Brian's face a bit more. 😂
@@CaliradoKid hahahaha 😂😂
thanks for getting the view!!! i wanna go soo damn bad now
Yes! Stoked I could capture this ride. Be sure to get out there before they start building homes on Boy Scout. Hopefully with the right people fighting the good fight that MIGHT not happen.
@@CaliradoKid damn for reals💔 and some yesssir I’ll for sure go check it out ASAP this places is very scenic and peaceful
Looks insane! So dope!
Right! That area is worth going to for the views alone. But boy oh boy is the riding great too!
🔥🔥🔥🔥 🤘🏻
Shred-tacular!
Nice looking trail, cool vid.
Yea man! Pretty amazing views out in Pacifica. Bummed that the word on the street is that they're going to be building homes where the Boy Scout trails are.
@@CaliradoKid have to make a trip out from Texas soon then.
Classic CaliradoKid production, bummer about the chin mount, hate it when that happens
Yea man. Totally screwed that angle up. But the rest worked out!
Great Video! I did Pacifica in November and my SD failed half way through the ride.
You did an amazing job capturing this ride!!!! Killer drone footage, great presentation of the climb-The Mile-Boys Boys Scout ride, and very professional edit. Music was on point!
You Nailed This Video! Best Pacifica video I've ever scene!
Thanks a lot! Yea I really wanted to try a few new filming techniques on this ride and really happy with how it turned out. I'm stoked it came off as fun as it was!
I actually like the higher view on the GoPro where I can't see the bars. I like seeing more of the scenery you are riding through than bar violently shaking.
Great video with some local shredders! Great drone footage and editing Joe👊
Thanks brother! That area is incredible. Definitely want to spend some more time down there.
🤘🏼
Shred on!
Ok, what happened? Something happened, your footage and editing looks amazing!
Haha! Thanks man! I didn't crash my drone OR myself on this one. That's a solid win for me. 😂
Your edits are on point . I get why my channel hasn’t blown up .. but can’t wrap my head around why you don’t have 100k subs yet .. keep up the good work. #discovercalirado
Thanks man! Yea I don’t know what the formula is to getting subscribers obviously but I’ll just keep making good videos and hope it all works out in the end. 😂
Hey, dude, this is amazing work! Amazing riding. Amazing trails. Amazing views. Just want to go riding. How youtube vids should make one feel! Thanks!
That's a huge compliment! Thank you! I can definitely relate to that feeling when watching vids. So many amazing MTB creators out there these days. It's a good time to be a mountain biker!
@@CaliradoKid Hell yeah! Pacifica on Saturday, here we go! Can't wait.
🔥🔥🔥
I live here I take that trail to get to moss beach and visit my friend and the school there was my preschool lol
Crazy underrated channel. The video production on this is super high quality
Your youtube channel is great dude! Found you from rock rolls and searching for folsom lake bike trails here. Mind blowing that theres so small small channels on youtube doing everything right but not getting the traction they deserve. Try posting lil clips on Tik Tok and link to your channel, and also try making a consistent style for your thumbnails. The rest of it is fantastic tho! Sounds like I have to convince the wife to go to pacifica now ;)
Thanks a lot man! Glad you found the channel. As I've ramped up the production quality it's definitely helping bring people in but progress takes time it seems. I like the idea of more consistent design on thumbnails. While I've got no lack of creativity...the artistic side of things is NOT my strong suit. I absolutely HATE making thumbnails! 😂 I actually created a TikTok account but haven't utilized it yet. Joe from Trail Features has discussed its benefits with me but at this point it all seems to boil down to how much time I have in the day. With a wife and kids plus a full time job it's definitely hard to get everything done in a day. But I've got a lot of good ideas in the pipeline so it's gonna be a wild ride no matter what!
I LIVE THERE I WENT TO THAT TRAIL TODAY AND I WHEN I WAS LITTLE I WENT TO THE WCHOOL
Flat tires, loose caskets, no air in shocks...I take it bike maintenance isn't high on your priority list. Just ride baby, just ride! 🤣🤣
Man. No kidding!! I seriously spend the 3 hours a day of personal time I have editing. There doesn't seem to be much more time for anything else. Just ride until the wheels fall off! 😂
Awesome! I rode it once. But took a mellow route not like all this gnarly stuff. I have to look it up on my Strava. I remember at the time, I met a rider that said at least a few times a season someone is Heli-Vaced out of there.
Oh man! Yea I believe it. There’s definitely some dicey stuff out there. Those views are so damned stunning. It’s hard to keep your eye on the trail.
When does the full feature film come out? Good stuff man!
When you agree to play me in the movie! We need someone better looking than me. 😂
I thought the coastal views would be the highlight, but that jump sequence was something else!! Makes me want to learn how to hit jumps for real 😅
(I know, I'm way late watching this...)
Yea man. Great views out there but Justin, Poh, Jacky Legs and the rest of the guys absolutely dominated those jumps. So cool!
That was rad!! Going to add this to my bucket list now too! *Sub’d* 👊🏼
Awesome! Yea Pacifica is some else man! It’s worth it for the views alone.
this is SO sick! What bike are you on?
hope its not your last. i heard they're going to develop part of the hillside into boyscout
Man. That's such a bummer. I've been hearing that. Here's to hoping some of the trails survive.
Yeti's specify N2O for their air suspension, it's dentist approved
Haha! And that's no LAUGHING matter! 😂
Because of the laughing gas?! See what I did there. 🙄
I saw this video and then decided to try the Crack for the first time today. Yeah.....SOO much more difficult and steep than it looks in this video!!!
Oh man! Yea it's super sketchy right! 😂 My camera angle didn't do it ANY justice. And honestly if I could invent a camera that could actually capture how steep and janky something was I'd be a damned millionaire!!
Boy Scout. Fun trail
try my trail in pacifica, on the north end, not near mile or boy scout
there is a few vids on my channel about it
Nice! I'll have to check it out. I love that area and wish I could get down there more often.
One of the best MTB vids I've seen. Amazing footage and editing. I broke my ribs on Boy Scout so it was nice to "return to the scene of the crime" via your video.
Thanks a lot! Yea this one came together really well. I've never played around much with the slo mo so this was a GREAT showcase. My skills are not anywhere CLOSE to even trying to tackle some of those jumps on Boy Scout. But it was nice it gave me time to film and man the drone. haha
camera angle was actual better considering the beautiful scenery. staring at the handle bars is great when riding through the woods, but this worked nicely here
That’s a good point! I didn’t even think of that. Yea it’s definitely all about the view on that ride for sure!
wish I can wheelie and jump like that !!
I was thinking the same thing! 😂 I just held the camera and flew the drone the whole damned time.
Such a sick edit dude! the footage came out soo good! Let's film more! 🤘
You guys put on a damned SHOW! Thanks for climbing up and riding down so many times for me! It was totally worth it. 😂
I grew up surfing that beach in the background down by the Taco Bell.
My biggest regret of this trip was NOT eating at that Taco Bell! 😂
Hello Friend how are you? Can you do the tour with a downhill bike? or is it also required to pedal
Good video! you were able to fly the Skydio 2 through those woods?
Those shots were done using manual control. I used the phone app to control the shots as I wanted them. The autonomous tracking MIGHT have worked in there but I think it would have had a pretty tough time.
@@CaliradoKid Good to know, I JUST bought a Skydio 2 and I'd hate to trash it immediately.
Some good stuff there. Enjoyed the video! I was torn between riding Pacifica or San Pedro Mtn. last weekend. Locals said to ride El Corte de Madera - so I did instead. Would love to connect and ride with you when I get to your part of the State if interested. Hit me up if interested. always like riding with other youtubers!
Yea man. Hit me up on IG if you're ever in the area and I'll see if I can make it work! Lot's of good trails in the Sacramento area.
