Killer video! I appreciate you highlighting those ‘exposures’ on the lower divide sections. I watched my buddy slide down one of those years ago, then his bike flew down to the riverbed. He was all good bud that made us all slow down a bit (and step off the bikes on the uphill side).

Barring the second divide any skilled rider will have a blast there. Just as an FYI we loved the second divide too but there are some sketchy cliffy sections and you’d have to be an absolute iron man to pedal your way through it all. Ebikes rule!

I've ridden with several people rockin' Ripmo's who tackled it no problem. And yes. I'd love to host a show in the future. Just gotta build up the legend of the Calirado Kid first!
We used to ride up that trail all the time Obviously it would create all kinds of problems for the bicyclers we’d be completely stopped one after the next would run into us. That’s when you try to get us kicked off it didn’t work but we don’t ride the trail anymore and if we do it’s down the hill . You should see the trails we ride.
Oh baby!! You’re gonna have a blast. Luckily there’s a lot of tree cover out there so even if it’s hot you at least get done break. Plus you can always jump on the river at the bridge!
Thanks buddy! Yea one of the guys we were riding with had an older bike but it had SOME travel. I did see someone out there on a hardtail though. I don't know how. Downieville eats bikes for breakfast.
I am just beginning to mt. bike. I live a half hour from Downieville. I gotta do this trail! I have a hardtail mt. bike that was recently given to me. Think I can do this as a beginner? I am thinking about giving it a shot!
I realize your post is a year old, but you probably live near a LOT of really great alternatives to ride before you head on up to Downieville. The mid Sierra can be a lot less technical than the higher ground. Lots more fun, swoopy single track without the granite gnar. Above Nevada City, the Parliment trail network is ideal. I've been enjoying it a lot over the last few years. And for the long-time riders, three nice flow trails allow you to let 'er rip all you want!
I lived in Downieville in 84 (?) & it sure has changed a LOT. My first husband & I made population 99 & 100. It only had 13 business's. I would have killed myself on your bike rides. Try taking a bath in it during the winter time .....NOW THAT IS COLD, because I did it

Might hit it this week!
BTW, I can imagine you having your own show on Disney+ / National Geographic. You're a great narrator and the video quality is perfect!!! There needs to be a MTB show! There's a pitch idea! - You're welcome!!
Thanks so much man! "The Calirado Kid Channel: The Disneyland of MTB!" I might use that. 😂😎 I'm rocking a Yeti SB5.5. It handles everything no problem. I think you'll be just fine on your Ripmo. I've ridden with several people rockin' Ripmo's who tackled it no problem.
And yes. I'd love to host a show in the future. Just gotta build up the legend of the Calirado Kid first!
You did the trail and the locals justice with your video thank you fromall 375 of us lmao
two rivers does have my favorite grilled chicken sandwich, and they got good beer too
...and the BEST wifi in town! 😂
We used to ride up that trail all the time
Obviously it would create all kinds of problems for the bicyclers we’d be completely stopped one after the next would run into us.
That’s when you try to get us kicked off it didn’t work but we don’t ride the trail anymore and if we do it’s down the hill .
You should see the trails we ride.
Awesome video you have a new Subscriber 👍😎🤘
Thanks man! Glad to have you on board! Get ready for LOTS of hijinks!
Damn good video!
Awesome video man!
Thanks man! Glad you dug it!
Now I wanna go.
headed up tomorrow for my first Downieville experience with a group of 8 riders, hopefully not smokey or too hot!
Oh baby!! You’re gonna have a blast. Luckily there’s a lot of tree cover out there so even if it’s hot you at least get done break. Plus you can always jump on the river at the bridge!
This is a great video especially the editing I’m super impressed lol, you mind sharing camera spec settings?
Great video! Where did you stay?
Thanks! We stayed at the Downieville Inn. Really awesome spot right by the river.
Nice video .👊
Thanks! Stoked you dug it!
looks like I have to go to Downieville
Absolutely! And tell them the Calirado Kid sent you! …and they’ll be like “who’s that?” 😂
Wow man great vid! Was there a guy on a HT? If so wwwwhhhyyyyyy..Hurts my back just thinking about the chunder and no squish lol
Wished those business would have been there back then. I can bet I would have been at that restaurant A LOT if it would have been there back then. SIR, you thought the water was cold ?? Try taking a bath in it during the winter time .....NOW THAT IS COLD, because I did it
This was a great video! Curious, do you use the Skydio 2 for filming or another drone?
Thanks man! Yea I've got the Skydio 2. Love it!
Awesome professional grade video!
Except the loss of focus here and there.
What camera are you using?
Thanks! Yea a lot of run and gun shooting for this one. I'm using a Sony A7Siii. Thing's amazing. But not compact that's for sure. 😂
WOW! Beautiful scenery! What a place to ride! Well Done Joe! I like throwing it to the booth for commentary, and what foot dab at waterfall? I saw nothing😜 Cold water hard nipples!
Hahaha! That water was so damned cold I lost my breath when I hit the water. The hard nipples were an unfortunate side effect! 😂
Maybe next time I could get an invite
Haha! My friends invite me. I go. That's about as far as I planned for this one. 😂
2:00 right as he said that he's going uphill
