Kudos to you guys for riding South Yuba and making a loop out of it. Looks like everyone else is still riding the standard trails while South Yuba is overlooked and overgrown. So many more trails out there besides the heavily trafficked but still fun main downhill track
Honestly one of the coolest rides I've done! Something amazing about being out in the backcountry on an adventure. Didn't see a single person back there. I would LOVE to do this ride again next year. This time without my gimbal MESSING UP!! 😂
@@CaliradoKid Yeah if you really want to explore that place head out on a moto. You won't see anyone all day if you stay off the downhill. 1st divide is crazy on a 240 lb bike.
Great videos... I watched the entirety of part 1 and part 2. I got to hear all your singing antics (I guess that's Pearl Jam if not Nirvana, sometimes I get them mixed up) which are actually pretty good. I was hoping to get your ride stats at the end, but I guess you're going to have to get a better riding partner so your objectives are met. I read description sections of RUclips also but didn't see your stats there. You can always put them there anytime after the video's loaded :-) Oftentimes when I have lots of objectionable brush to get through, I invert my bike and push it in front of me while it rolls on the rear wheel only. It's kind of handy with the levo because you can just press the walk button and invert it effortlessly. If some of those big branches going in your face were poison oak, I'm curious to get a ride report on your medical status as well! Those downhill Trails were damn steep, skinny and exposed. I'm just wondering how much speed I would be scrubbing off on those to avoid disaster. That's good you felt the levo was very capable for everything you were throwing at it. That's too bad your buddies had problems with their levos. I got the part about the one guy's motor failing him, but was that both guys had motor issues when they left the trail early?
That's definitely the finest Eddie Vedder impression I have! I gotta say I was super surprised I didn't get MORE poison oak. I had some on my legs and a little on my face but I did a double wash with Tech-Nu and Dawn dish soap when we got done. That helped a LOT. So Matt's motor had an issue and Austin decided to ride with him back to town. That's why we lost 2 people. He's a good friend. Jeremy and I decided to adventure on! We're bad friends. 😂
I did this ride couple of weeks ago started at the hall's ranch trail head and went up that steep fiddle Creek climb you guys went down. I would like to try it the way you guys did it. Then I went up the North yuba back to town, 4 miles from town I ran into lots of down trees so I turned around On the way up. 12 years ago we did this ride on acoustic bikes. There are sure some great ebike trails in downieville! Thanks to hard work of the trail crews!
So GMBN has an Ebike channel on RUclips and they did a really good video of the area recently. I plan on going back in a few weeks to do some backcountry adventures with friends. We're renting Ebikes from Downieville Outfitters again. I'm STOKED!
@@CaliradoKid I have been watching EMBN Electric Bike Nation for a few years! The one on Downieville is great! Those guys taught me alot of E bike skills! Try Fiddle Creek the other direction next time!
Not enough blood and guts haha. The ride sure did look intense though. Some of the climbs looked next to impossible even with the e bike assist. Phenomenal looking location though! The footage was rad
Yea some of those climbs were NUTS! It was basically 3600ft of climbing over 5 miles I think. I got hit in the face by branches more times than I can count. But loved every minute of it! If I ever got an ebike I'd just use it for adventures like this. For sure.
What a wonderful trail. Where did it end up on the road? How was the poison oak? I ride Forest City too up there. when you get above a certain elevation, there's no PO. Great spirit of MtB! I was entertained and you really did show the true nature of the adventure.
Holy Cow!!! Well Joe another great one!!! You said you think Matt is cursed... Well I not sure.. I think you and Jeremy got the rougher end of things... But I will say that view at the top... That's what Matt likes to find. I can't remember has he done this one before,, this trail?? Was this the first for you there?? That trail was covered ... I so worried about you guys ( in several places ) of this one ... Very Scary ... To watch for sure. You're right Joe I guess I don't always comment (which is very unusual for me) 😳,, Matt would tell you that I'm sure.. I'm not usually at a lose for words as you can tell by this ... But I have watched several of your videos ( even some of the ones without Matt) , I guess I just don't always have a comment.. Sorry.... And I did make it all the way to the end... Your singing , you had a little sound like the guy from Creed.. Scott something ashamed can't remember his name at the moment... Fairly impressive!!! 😉
haha! I was giving you a hard time! You don't have to comment on every vid! Always glad to have you here. I haven't looked at the footage for the next vid but if it's what I think it is...it's basically Matt breaking down every 5 minutes and crashing. So that'll be a fun one.
Downieville is worth the ride for sure! The traditional downhill you can shuttle through Downieville outfitters or Yuba expeditions. This particular ride was totally different and super fun/challenging. Definitely one of a kind. We ended up shuttling the next day and doing the traditional downhill.
HAHA! First of all I'm amazed anyone made it to the very end of the vid. Second I have no idea what the lyrics actually are. I'm pretty sure in the next video I just start making my own lyrics up and it's comedy gold. Well. To me at least. 😂
Oh man! I feel like I should know that. We rented those bad boys from the shop and never looked back. But they must have been. We were out on the trail for maybe 6 hours or so and got back with just enough battery to get them returned in one piece! 😂
@@CaliradoKid right on man. I live in Nevada City (about 45 min from Downieville). I’ve got a 630wh on my Norco Sight C2. But i also have the Range Extender to make it a full 1,000wh. My wife (she has the same bike, but the nicer C1 build) and I rode to the top of Second Divide this week. But we really want to do an epic from town to the top of Butcher Ranch, then back down the Classic route.

Epic adventure Mr. Kid! Loved every minute of it!
It was such a surprise around every turn. I think that's one of the things that made it so special. We were all discovering it together!

Glad I stumbled on this video. Good stuff! Hope you had some tecnu soap. Next time take some clippers for the blackberries.
This is an oldie but goodie! This is still one of my favorite adventures on a bike. Can't wait to get back out to Downieville and ebike it again soon!
Where is the Effing Awesome button??? Well done, CK!
YOU'RE the AWESOME button! Did we get punished or what. haha!

New sub. Looks like 2 hrs from Rocklin but this vid rocks! That climb tho!

11:05 Did you do a line from First Blood in Arnold’s voice?
All that poison oak!
Yes. Yes I did. And also...you should have SEEN the amount of scrubbing that went down after this ride. It's illegal in several states.
@@CaliradoKid I would have been in a world of hurt HAHA
