"Best used with both hands." uses one hand.
Mr. Fridge well, he is a casual
Not just any casual, a Certified Casual.
And uses his index finger to boot
Probably trying to not block the camera's shot of the game, to be fair.
VampoRainze that makes no sense, it would have blocked the camera less if he used his left thumb instead of reaching to the left with his right. with that said it's not a big deal just funny, and a telling look into the mind of a casual :p
"Best played with both hands" - Proceeds to play with only one hand
Azrael010 *One Finger.
That man is not a casual gamer. He acted like he'd never even used a touch screen before. It was hard to watch

That game he playing doesn't require both hand I already played that game.
@@dreadknot2238 nah mcoc definately needs 2 hands
I don't see truly deep fighting games going far on mobile platforms, because there's bound to be input lag with the touchscreen and it's difficult to use an interface that you can't physically maneuver. A game like DiveKick would be absolutely astounding, though, with just a simple swipe and tap to get going. We need to start out small again with mobile fighting games, and then gradually see what works and what doesn't, rather than just trying to port the games over and see how it works out.
I played street fighter iv Volt for 4 years, there was an active online community and was very competitive especially among the higher 'BP' players
As of 2017, the mobile fighting game "Power Rangers Legacy Wars" is the only game that I am aware of that can be considered serious considering that it is a PVP game.
In fact, I would not mind if you ,Core-A Gaming, would take a look at it.
If I made a mobile fighting game it should have a forward-, backward-, punch-, kick- and a speacialattackbutton it’s gonna be simple and if you prees punch and kick at the same time it will grab and if you double tap punch it would make a fireball and if you double tap the kick it would make a another kind of speicial move (maybe a horricane kick)
I think it's definitely possible! Stuff like Pocket Rumble proves that you only need two buttons, and divekick's another good example.
mobile gamers are casuals, casuals rarely put in effort in a fighting game, which is a genre made for the dedicated, just let the casuals play their clash of clans or clash royale which only requires half a brain to play
+Tekken Zaibatsu Sandakan well i was never pulling off finishing moves in mortal kombat
but mobile version make me do that and also can plat tekken 1.2.3.5.6 soooo i love android
Nice generalizing, I play mkx mobile and sfv and I have an ultra gold Cammy. So, salty much?
+Hand Hanzo also try hitman go and lara Croft go you relly need brain to play them
You must have half a brain if you think Royale is easy at it's highest level.
Tekken Zaibatsu Sandakan Half a brain? Nigga what? Half my foot up your ass.
I'd love to see this as a SF fan since SF2:CE.
Granted I'd have to resort to an external controller [emulators are doing a decent job of recreating arcade memories] but I think it's possible.
A new loved mobile fighting games is flappy fighter
Android or IOS?
I can't believe you never mentioned KoF 2012 A! That game is essentially KoF XIII for Android and it even has a free version! I recently managed to pull of combos for Leona and I'm only going to get better! It's just too bad the game isn't able to fit everything from the original home release and there's no online play. So no Dark Ash or Saiki. Yet the game feels so complete like your traditional KoF fighter.
I've played games like Asura cross and infinite Fighter which are good examples of good fighting mechanism
Who dares not using both hands to play the game
I mean touch the screen
Healthy weapon is a good example how to do a mobile fighter
Slashers: The Power battle is a pretty good fighting game on mobile.
i think its possible but ill stick to something like the vita for handheld fighters.
We have the tools , now we need the blueprint
Playing with both hands doesn't mean using the other hand only for holding the device.
+TurnaboutAttorney Heheheh yeah I'm a moron

It’s not on Android yet but a port is in development
All we need is multiplayer now!
Flappy Fighter was INCREDIBLE. It’s so sad it got taken down for copyright before getting a proper multiplayer mode

Core-A Gaming: Can a mobile fighting game be competative and simple?
Flappy Fighter: Hold my touchscreen
Is on Android? No? SO SHUT UP!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
arnaldo alange so? It’s still a good game
Apple:hold my legal rights
Yes. Skullgirls Mobile’s got a lot of depth using the touchscreen. It’s not furiously tapping the screen or tapping one card each for a combo. You to know the different touch inputs in order to chain the combos correctly. It’s the reason why it’s one of the best mobile fighters on the market.
Agree. SkullGirls is such a fun game in a similar sense to competitive fighting games.
Compared to the actual game it’s shit. You just hold block then pull off the same combo and repeat, that’s it.
Checkers
Agreed, I feel like people give it too much credit cause it’s not as shit as it could’ve been. Doesnt mean it’s good, I got bored real fucking quick
Flac well its mostly because not a total fighting game, it’s considered an action RPG and you start to get into considering stats, buffs, and the characters signature abilities, and using moves to work with those abilities to then counter your opponents team. And as a fan of both versions of the game they’re great in their own way.
Skullgirls on mobile is unique, pc (or console ports) felt like another Street Fighter, 2d fighting game rip off. Mobile Skullgirls is the best on mobile
Your analysis videos are always so entertaining as they cover interesting topics.

Core-A Gaming What about the mobile control scheme I mentioned in the comments of this video?
Core-A Gaming Now that the Nintendo Switch is out what do you think the future holds for fighting games and their potential for being mobile (on the Switch).
I think there is great potential as long as a developer can make it playable with the supplied joycon to maximise casual play and support sticks as well.
Flappy Fighter: *Looks in the corner* fools
I would approach it the same way people convert games to tabletop: ask yourself what the core mechanics are, and use only some of them. For example I'd take spacing, move execution and varied height of attack (hit boxes I guess) and make a fighter where, with your left thumb you swipe side to side to move and up to jump. And with your right you tap mid, low and high to jab and swipe up and down, and quarter circles to perform special attacks. Is still gives you 6 attacks on ground and potentially 6 in air (though I'd probably only have 2 options, a heavy and light). Not to mention the spacing adds more to the game than a simple block that most mobile fighters provide you with, perhaps a parry system where you can match jab for jab would work better. But that's where lag becomes an issue.
I play tekken 6 on psp emulator
Footsies by Hifight and Flappy Fighter by Aapcom
Mobile could probably pull of a decent simplified Bushido Blade.
Louie Didcote I'd love to see something like Bushido Blade (with very large environmental stages it did) with updated grpahics. On a phone would just be icing on the cake.
NEVER mention Bushido Blade and mobile in the same sentence again, do you understand me?!
Flappy Fighter is the truth!
you should take a look at the game Shadow Fight 2. It has an interesting control scheme that seems bad on the surface, but it is very comfortable and well developed once you get use to it.
Mention of shadow fight 2 is surprisingly rare in this comment section.
nah,i rather die than not play a fight game on a stick
+Sabori sauce (Juan) welp my friend it might be your time lol... and same with me as well :(
I think it's perfectly possible. You just need to adapt to the controls and possibly try to make something very accessible. I'd say it'd be best to look towards the likes of Nidhogg and Rising Thunder in addition to the aforementioned Divekick as possible directions. Maybe it wouldn't resemble what we'd traditionally consider a fighter but a real level of depth as a competitive game can be there. Though the success of infinitey blade makes me wonder if something like a multiplayer Punch Out would be a valid route. I'd normally be worried about the business model , but something like Killer Instinct's model wouldn't be TOO horrendous and that's kind of the reference point for a successful free to play fighter.
except for boxing.
Nidhogg on mobile is not a bad idea!
Check out flappy fighter
First three comments I see:
"Says it's best to use both hands
Uses 3 hands"
Who came back because of flappy fighter
check out BlazBlue revolution reburning there's some issues with servers and balance and lag but the gameplay is intuitive I feel for a mobile fighter and is a step in a better direction to say the least it starts as a beat em up but as you progress you can access more traditional fighting and pvp modes

The only true way to get fighting games on your phone is by emulating old fighting games
*COUGH* flappy fighters
The most probable scenario is coexistence, just like it's now. Yes the market of mobile gaming is huge, but the pc hardware will always be on top, and have the more committed gamers supporting the industry. Point aside I would love sfv mobile and compatible with pads, not just a 4 button version.
Yeah, seems like it's also a good market to raise awareness of a game like MK did.
wow spider man just wow
I've shamefully played a lot of fighting games on mobile (Injustice, Marvel Contest of Champions, MKX, etc.) and not only are the controls are terrible, but the oversimplification of FG mechanics like spacing, proper counters, real block-breaking means the AI just cheats on higher levels. Almost all of them require some sort of power creep because F2P pricing model means a) incentive to buy power/levels b) boring gameplay requires grind to unlock characters to incentivize players who don't want to pay a ton, so most games actually focus on just powering your characters, and actual skill rarely means anything in being able to win against much more powerful opponents regardless of you playing perfectly.
try KOF 2012 A, it is not perfect but better than mkx, Marvel, etc
TiTan29
i looked into it, still touch controls but seems better than most
+xephyr88 i mean, i know it isn't as good as a console or acade one, but its not bad
TiTan29 it just needs a multiplayer and dlc update
I've played Injustice (it's not good) but Marvel contest was actually kinda good. Everyone has the same combos (taptaptap swipe tap backdash for safety) but with friends I found it very fun. I mostly Played the ulk and Star Killer with the mask
Try flappy fighter.... it’s the best mobile fighter

revisiting this video just to tell y'all about FLAPPY FIGHTER
Handhelds are the next best thing. Seems like the Nintendo Switch could open up some new possibilities(if people can figure out how Joy-Cons work and connect to the system), assuming that the developers take into account the lack of a D-pad and a six-button layout.
There is a game surprisingly that does this well. The blazeblue mobile game actually has a really in-depth combo system and intuitive controls that really requires practice to master. Along with a good online system and other cool things. I'm not one for the knowledge of fighting games or anything but if you really want a good 'true 90's' fighting game experience I would pick this one up
It's possible to design a competitive fighting game for mobile, no doubt. It's almost certain that it will become a reality, sooner or later. But non-mobile gaming isn't going anywhere; there are still gaming experiences which can't be easily replicated on a smartphone, with its small screen and limited controls which obscure the screen when you use them. Anyone who says mobile games will be the _only_ games in the future is an even greater fool than those who call mobile gaming a fad.
Well, it all depends on different aspects, like VR, if the technology gets dirt cheap, and everyone owns a headset like a pair of headphones, you might get arround the cluttered screen.
One might add a phone case thats connectable with your phone which is a controller and there you go.
Or a touchpad on the back of phones, but that might be hard to controll, considering you don't have any clue where your fingers go (missing buttons...).
But to be honest, without a spike in tech, we are nowhere near that future.
Dewayn Even with those kinds of things, there are still going to be games which work better on PC or console than mobile with some stuff bolted on. (And some of those things already exist.)
Screens are getting much bigger thanks to the shrinking bezels
flappy fighters is my answer and i think the best.mobile fighting game ever buts itd on ios exlusive im on android still waiting for that android release.
2 years later and theres no flappy fighter on android :(
This gameplay of marvel on smartphone is exactly the same as skullgirls but instead of marvel , skullgirls doesn't have enough fame to be downloaded 10M times ... Unfair ! 😤😠
I think the best you can actually do as far as this goes is a team-building or character-building game that's literally AI driven - choose one of three strategies; and then have the player manage the meter usage (counters/supers/etc.); or build a character-state-machine where movement and attacks are synonymous (drag in different directions to execute different movement/attack combinations, hold to block, tap for basic combo-strings or throws?).
But it's not going to replace "fighting games as we play them today," because simply put, it IS too limited of a control scheme.
What about slashers ? Is a good fighting game for Android
pabl boato
Yeah. I tried that game, not bad.
I don't think a mobile fighting game should follow the standard setup for a fighting game, that being p1 health bar, time, p2 health bar, we've seen everywhere from arcades to PlayStation. I think it should be more focused on the touch controls, and the best I can see it being is similar to punchout, but with multiple playable characters and a greater focus on multiplayer.
Great idea!
blazeblue?

Would BlazBlue: Revolution Re burning work?
SkyplaneYT
Not really. It was okay as a mobile game but terrible as a fighting game
How could you not try SF4 volt on iphone? It has been THE mobile fighting game for basically 6 years.
The controls are much more responsive than any other emulated fighting game, and especially of KOF. It had a rampant community of fighters with quite a high level of multiplayer and for several years (the online became deserted only a few months back, only because it was not ported to the new ios and not because players lost interest). Look at the length of the discussion in the volt's forum on toucharcade if you want a proof of what I'm saying.
Despite the limitations (20fps and on screen controls) it managed to be technical, thanks also to the SP button. Several high level players even didn't use any shortcut to specials. Also, the SP button was well thought (it almost couldn't do stuff that would've been impossible with normal controls, unlike the sf4 on 3DS in which charge characters did not have to charge when using SP).
That's actually really interesting, and I wish I had known. I remember Infiltration and Poongko played mobile SF4 for a short period and were fighting for top spot. Infil played Viper btw lol.
+Core-A Gaming Lop, do people still play it?
Core-A Gaming
There are still some buddies playing I think. I still see uploads from sexiness, and I receive some invitation from time to time, but I guess most people went to the latest ios and cannot even play the game. Search tenonez, nash berry, psxsquall, harlequinrogue for some of the best players on ios (also if you need footage).
@@CoreAGaming slashers the power battle is also a good look at
Flappy fighter? Idea for new video ? Content is great my man!! Soo great that I go back and rewatch all the time! Keep up the good work! And thanks for providing it!
it's very possible to make a great fighting game for mobile. that Marvel game has surprisingly deep strategy, and hard techniques, but it definitely is dumbed down for both accessibility and squeezing money out of you. but taking what they do right, and adding on to it positively can produce a surprisingly good fighting game.
Best method : download ppsspp emulator and enjoy games like tekken 5, tekken 6, street fighter alpha 3, mk deception etc
Two words......flappy fighter
That transition from Miles to Chun Li was clean af
2 words FLAPPY FIGHTER
And then flappy fighters appeared and it’s being ported to Android,we just need vs and online...
This is something Ive always thought about. Nice to see your take on it. Thanks for the vid
Does “Flappy Fighter” count?
You left out Shadow Fight. Smh
Yea, it's possible....Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition, lol
+Swift_Heracross It was a good game, but after a while almost nobody played it with the pro controls on, and I couldn't stand charge characters executing specials when walking forward anymore.
Your production quality is insane. Consider me sold, can't wait until you release more videos
I'm just gonna say.......... Flappy Fighter
Ever heard of flappy fighter?
How about a first person sword fighting game? swiping around the outside dictates where you block, swiping across the middle causes you to strike.
A very intuitive take on this has been achieved by the blazblue team
Wish Divekick was on mobile.
the only I'd ever consider would be divekick. that game would fit perfectly!
+Uuriu I don't think it's about taking a fighting game like sfv and porting it, hoping it would be a successful competitive game. Divekick just so happens to be the exception.
I think the idea is to design a competitive fighter FOR mobile platforms, something that would feel natural (like divekick theoretically would), while at the same time, being a deep fighting game experience.
nah man, i know what i said. i would play divekick on my phone but i would not play anything else... created-for-mobile or not
I don't want to sound like an elitist but mobile gaming must evolve outside of that p2w microtransaction lootbox aspect to have some "seriously competitive" games...
Also physical buttons feels better for the feedback...
Mobile is way better for turn based RPGs and (non-RTS) tactical game
Okay i am almost an expert on mobile fighting games cuz i download
and play and then delete pretty much all of them so listen up,
non-mobile fighter fans:
I've played SF4 Volt on iphone, i-King of Fighters 2012 for iphone
and SFxTK on iPhone and they were all almost decent for a little while
but i think they are crap competitively. Mainly because THEY USE A
TOUCHSCREEN AS AN ARCADE STICK. It shouldn't be that way. iPhone
fighting games should use touchscreens naturally, not with fake buttons
that clog up the screen and have no haptic feedback.
Look at Cool Clash. Look at Kungfu Jumpu. Look at Puncho Fighto. They
are all three really good iPhone fighting games that use touch controls
even better than Marvel Contest of Champions. Follow their lead. Simple
swipes but physics-based complexity. That is the future of Mobile
Fighting Gameplay...
+UncleBibby47 100% much better than tapping one dside of screen
Those three games sound like you're making up racist cultural dances.
Grew Up Playing Fighting Games on Mobile Especially Shadow Fight 2, Injustice, MKX and KOF A 2012 (KOF XIII Mobile)
but why is mk mobile so shit?
Because these big budget freemium fighting games are based on the same template. Play one and you've played them all basically. Contest of the Champions,Injustice,MKX etc
Psychic Super Hobo the MKX one is literally just one button from what I remember. No skill.
Bearidan Ampawrawr same goes for those i mentioned. In this very video you can catch a glimpse of Injustice mobile and see that is the same (one finger movements for everything, and stoping every five seconds to tap for more dmg) i know they are both made by netherrealm studios, but Marvel contest of champions and WWE immortals are also the same crap
Psychic Super Hobo but MKX is literally one attack and no moving. maybe jumping.
It isn't. After playing a while i realised that there is a lot of depth in timing if you want to win against opponents twice as strong.
If Mobile Gaming takes over he industry, then I suppose I won't be playing games anymore.
Honestly, I can't _stand_ mobile games. I really can't.
ayyy Flappy Fighter
I can happly report, you just described Skullgirls Mobile
Really cool, the only bad thing about Analysis is: i need MOAR
Dragonball legends is extremely competitive and mobile. There's several techs such as side stepping, charge stepping, drop comboing (on purpose to avoid cover changes)
