Right on, Seth. Keeping shiny, happy CRX’s on the road. You’ve inspired me to work on my own, take some things apart, clean and restore. It’s the funk of 35 years living in the nooks and crannies of these Japanese racing pods. So worth it tho. Namaste and thank you!!!!
I wish Restotuner makes more items for 5th gen Civic EG and EJ. I put a zip tie on the stick to hold up the boot to closely line up with the shifter knob.
Luv your videos! From beginning to finish what a amazing built! The videos are very clean and pristine you definitely know how to restore the crx from bolt to bolt, thats AMAZING!!!. I'm very interested in your incredible built once it's up for sale. Luv to own it and keep it original to your creation. Keep up the great content and videos 👍🏿
Great video. I bet you didn't know there is supposed to be a little rubber boot on shift linkage where it meets transaxle. Those didn't hold up very well over time so no surprise it is missing. Not worth the effort trying to even find one probably. You can only do so much in sourcing parts for these old cars.
I've actually watched the whole series on Paramount Plus. (spoiler alert) It turns out that the car was pulled out of a lake. The "former owner" was Del Sol Mike. CRX Seth's long lost twin brother. He was a detective who secretly sent the car to Seth to rebuild it, and lure the former owner out of hiding to buy the car back - after driving it into a lake to coverup his crime. (They almost catch him, but he catches on at the last minute.) Hopefully they have more episodes with Del Sol Mike in the future.
You're level of attention to detail is crazy! I had a question, when it comes to 5 speed swaps in these chassis the 2 wires on the transmission for the reverse lights wire up to where exactly? Any insight would be helpful no forum has a good reference
You’ll have to look up the wiring diagram to know exactly which wires, but the harness is located at the automatic shifter mechanism. The reverse switch will have to be wired up to the existing reverse switch wires that go to the auto shifter.
Hi Seth, really enjoyed your video. I just purchased a JDM EF8 SiR and was considering doing the same upgrades as you did in this video including the Shift Linkages but wanted to know if you ran into any issues using these USDM parts? Do the USDM and JDM shift linkages, short shifter, bitch pin, and bushings are fully compatible and interchangeable with each other? Also, would you recommend upgrading the shift linkages?
I don’t have any experience with a JDM EF8, but I know d-series and b-series shift linkages are different, as well as the bushing used on the stabilizer bar. Sometimes the u-joint on the linkage wears out but swapping the bushings and checking the pin for tightness helps a lot.
Going to pressure wash all the red dirt from under there and it should be good to go. I may sand and throw a coat of paint or undercoating on it, depending on if there are any areas that need it.
Restotuner is a fantastic option for us restoring older Hondas!
Hoping they'll have more s2k stuff eventually. Already got their fuse box stickers

Thanks for the inspo… motivated me to change my shifter, bushings, ball seat, and dust cover over the weekend. 🙏🏽
It’s a big improvement if yours is worn out.
Steering wheel, seats, and shifter are all integral for the driving experience. Great call, Sir!

Seth the resto products look amazing some stickers are falling off my 97 hatch so I’ll definitely be ordering soon. Love the details man
Man I love your videos I swear we have all the same issues so I’ll be playing your build playlist often
That rusty jack tool can definitely be restored with a little elbow grease if a replacement can’t be sourced.
The resto master !

it will be sad to sell it after so much awesome work and effort
Yes it will. But hopefully the bank account will help make up for it.
Good job..

Great restore! What would you recommend for getting the rust off the body underneath the car? Do you plan on doing anything with that?
It's red dirt, and I plan on pressure washing it off soon.
Just have that Jack hook powder coated, they’ll blast it and it’ll come out perfect
Probably easier to find one in good condition rather than spend $50+ on one hook. Haha.
LHT did a video where he used a ball peen hammer around the rivets of the linkage to tighten it.
I've actually watched the whole series on Paramount Plus.

What a twist!

What's the black rigid spare tire cover in the rear? Is that OEM or custom? This part: 12:13
That’s the OEM cover.
Whats next in the pipeline? Would be cool to see a DA 1990 in there
Nothing definite yet. Just going to focus on cleaning up the ITR for now.

9:42 you are missing the dust boot... where that pin is...dirt and water can get into tranny there.
Another great video. There should be a rubber bushing and a seal by the shift linkage (bitch pin).
You planning on rust treating and restoring the chassis?
Underseal maybe?

@@crxseth ah I thought it was rust
Seth, what shifter did you use? I didn’t see it linked below? Thanks
It was gifted to me by a friend. You can choose any of your favorite brands to use.
Love your videos Seth, do you list where you purchase your products from?
In every video description.
I see it now, thanks Seth. Keep the video coming!!
yo theres a clip and a rubber boot that cover that pin on the sgift pole linkage
Good call.
hallo dude, im from indonesian. What is your formal education background? You look professional and independent as a mechanic dude.. 🤙
No automotive training. I went to school for electrical engineering.
You got to change every thing under the shifter the bushing won't really help
Is the car already sold?
Not yet. It’s not on the market yet.
✌🏻🇳🇱
Can't you just blast and paint the jack hook?
If I had a blast cabinet. Probably easier just to pay $20 for one someone has laying around.
New owner? You're not keeping the crx???😢
The plan was to always sell this car.
@@crxsethWhat are you trying to get for that beauty?
@@702chuck The best offer I receive.
I think you can still get that jack bar new from Honda 89320-SL0-003
I was trying to save money by not spending $50+ on one bar. Haha.
Another great video. Honda OEM Bar ,Jack Part# 89320-SL0-003
Wonder what’s the price? I’ll have to check.
@@crxseth around $25 hondapartsnow hondapartscheap have them in stock
@@702chuck But after shipping it’s like $50. I may just repaint this black and call it good.
@@crxseth that's what I'd do atleast until u can find one in good shape cheap enough or you never know a subscriber might have one lol
