This video is so helpful for someone like me with anxiety about doing new things by myself. I’ve been on NJ transit buses but only to NY and wirh other people never by myself so this helped me feel more confident!
Hi. This is such a helpful video for smeone like me who has zero idea on how Nj's public transpo works. I hope u can create more videos that are new immigrants frndly that can help us in our transition to arriving to NJ. This is so helpful. Great work!
This is really helpful. I'm deciding to take a bus until I get a driver's license. I went on a bus once with my friend but nobody taught me how it works and so I was clueless. I appreciate the help on how it works to make it easy for me to be confident. I just feel like I will be too stupid to the point I missed my destination and got lost lol
I like that your busses have the steps. 6:23 It makes more room inside and is more comfortable that way. Also still have handicapped lifts anyway for the accessible.
this helped a lot, im gonna be going back up to NYC and ill be staying in New Jersey staying with family. i never rode NJT whenever i was in jersey so this really helped. thanks big dawg
Also they have Reduced Fares for seniors over 62, and those with disabilities as you have to have either a NJ Transit Reduced Fare Card or Medicare Card you show that to the driver and you ride NJ Transit at reduced rates also reduced fares are also available for children ages 5-11, and active military personal as well (With military ID). I ride NJ Transit in the capital city of Trenton and have rode NJ Transit since 1992.
have u ever had a really bad experience while taking nj transit? i’ve never been on a bus before and yesterday i finally went on one and it was an absolute terrible experience. i had no idea the people get out of the bus first, i assumed it was a simultaneous thing. people are going in and out at the same time. so the guy yelled at me saying “wait wait wait.” i also had no idea what the fare was because on the nj transit app it doesn’t say the fee. so i asked the guy what the fee was and he said where are you going and i said montclair. i didn’t want to hold him up so i asked if i could give him the money and he said i don’t care in an extremely rude tone. i got on a bus in clifton. i was the last person on the bus and he asked where i was going, i said montclair again, and he said that he doesn’t go to montclair. so i ended up being dropped off at some random place in little falls. google maps AND the maps app on iphone said to take that bus. maybe i just got unlucky lol
Thanks for the video bro. I'm new to New Jersey and you explained the process in a really easy and simple way. One question, How do you tell the bus driver to stop at a certain place? (touch or pull something, i didnt get that part)
First off no problem I’m glad I could help you. Also you need to get off at a designated stop it might be different late at night you might able to request the driver to drop you off closer to your house but I’m not sure.
Great video! Depends on the garage the bus comes from because some are worse than others. The Ironbound Garage has some of the worst NJT buses I’ve ever seen, you know the buses that are on the 62. Also, those shorter buses are 2011-2012 NABI 31-LFWs and that 40 foot bus you were on is a 2012 NABI 40-SFW 416.15! Keep it up Drew! 😎
@@drewr5119 Yessir! After all my channel is a bus fanning channel specifically for New Jersey Transit, still trying to learn more about NJT and other transit agencies. :D
Remember that NJ Transit operates on a loss every year. It’s not built for comfort or even quality it’s built for affordability. It’s not like riding a Grey Hound
@@drewr5119 I agree. My comment sounded more attacking than it did positive. I can assure you that I didn’t intend for it to be like that. I love the transit system both bus and train. I just meant that it won’t be quite as comfortable or stylish as an Amtrak train or Grey Hound bus. And I’ve been riding since the 80s so I’ve got some time under my belt.
US public transportations are just outdated and old but I guess it’s because most of people use cars in the states. Literally grey hound and amtrak are like 1990’s of South Korea. I remember being in shock when I first rode grey hound in 2008. I’ve never rode a bus where there are “4 seats” in a row since new millennium.
thanks a lot for the information, i'm from Brazil, going to NJ next month with my whole family, i thought i could pay the ride by contactless paymanet, as in NY, but anyways i downloaded the NJ transit app already, i hope it make my rides easier.😅😅😅
Can u not pay with card or Apple Pay or anything? I just moved to pa for school and I wanna go to the cherry hill mall but don’t know how to do that from pa to nj and the app is a little confusing bc I never used the bus until I got here 😅
I'm new to taking the bus on my own, and I'm extremely nervous to do it alone for the first time, especially when looking up the maps on Google were so confusing because there's only a handful of stops on the schedule. But I have a question about other forms of how to pay fare. Is it possible for them to scan your phone through the app? Or does it always have to be a physical ticket or cash?
I just recently started taking the 76 to the 190 so basically 2 zones and I understand that but I feel like I’m using an extra ticket on a 1 way trip because of the transfer. I’m using the app for my tickets so I get on the 76, get off at Rutherford train station & take the 190 to Passaic. A lot of times these bus are late causing the active ticket to expire. When I get the on the first bus 76, am I able to ask for a paper transfer to get me onto the 190 so I don’t have to use another ticket? Hopefully my question made some sense. Thanks!
@@NJTransit1985 hey I only drive for njt I have a car and don’t utilize njt as my transportation. However if I do I ride for free so fares don’t affect me. I’m simply saying from an employee pov the fare structure sucks and they refuse to simplify it.

I hear the 2012-2013 ones will be rebuilt and the 2008-2009 ones may be replaced (whenever an electric concept is out).

No it is not just you I have had really bad experiences on NJT with buses being late or rude operators but I’m curious what route you went down
@@drewr5119 i think it was the 195 bus
Its surprisingly better then every other bus in america
Definitely not the delays are super frequent often times the A/C is leaking or the bus board at the top is blank not displaying the route.

You can set up mobile payment via the NJT app but you can’t use a credit card. If you have some cash and change you should be good.
Not yet the card reader on a bus

NJ Transit has E-tickets on the app and paper tickets for monthly passes other than that fares are always paid in cash.
