I thought exactly the same thing, here🎯👍!
Mitch Marner's skill set would definitely be a plus for the Islanders, as things stand, but on the other hand, his curiously 'detached' personality come 'high pressure games' time, along with the kind of petulant glove-throwing antics we saw in Game 5, etc, would have Patrick Roy spitting sparks🔥!

Utah needs to keep their best player and add to their roster. They should have plenty of cap space to do so. Secondly, I don't believe our top players are the problem. It's the lack of production from the next tier of players, somewhat due to lack of cap space to fill that need, over the last few seasons. Size and speed are two other essentials the team needs. I think the GM has already begun to address thst matter. However, if such a trade was ventured with Utah, and MM agreed to it, I think our best direction to go would be to try to acquire a couple of their good young players, preferably 1 forward and 1 defenceman. They've got a bunch....maybe 1 of Dylan Guenther, Barrett Hayton or Josh Doan...and/or a veteran like Schmaltz or Crouse and a top defensive prospect...a lot ways you could go...but ideally I think BT needs from 1 to 3 more seasons to shape this team into a playoff winner around our top players....and he's made some good signs and trades so far👍 And if trading one of our best guys is part of the plan(like Cliff Fletcher did in the early 90s..(.and that was a terrific time in Leaf history!)...then so be it.

I like the idea Marner & Picks or cash to the Panthers for Montour & Knight.
Knight would be a good fit playing alongside Woll if Fla wants to keep Stolarz who has been a good serviceable backup for goalie Bob.
Just some food for thought bc Marner would want to play for a cup contender & the Panthers fit the mold.
Whether or not they would give up on Knight or Montour is the big question mark...
Two key fits that the Leafs would need. 🤔

In what world would he waive to UTAH? A bottom feeder gives him no chance of ever winning a cup. Keller isn't in the same solar system as Marner.

  • @leebird76
    @leebird76 17 дней назад +1

Any deal involving Marner is going for a top defencmen or a top 3 dman and/or picks and prospects. And only of which he agrees to waive his NMC. Marner may not be a playoff performer, but he could certainly get a team there. While could definitely say no, if I'm the leafs I'd explore a move fore one of Buffalo's 3 potential No1. Dmen either Byram, Powers or Dahlin. Dahlin likely is in touchable so could be Byram or Powers. I'd look at Powers as while a left shot dman, he has size speed and skill to be top pairing dman. While its not lost on me that a deal in the division is taboo. I Believe it would solve each teams issues. Have Thompson gets a top flight winger and marner stays close to home. While Leafs get a true No1 dman for years to come.

Marner trade to Utah. So many people don't understand what a NMC means. If they ask Marner to waive, the best they can hope for is that he will ask for permission to negotiate with other teams. He will then return with one team that he will play for. It will be a contender and it could very well be in the Atlantic.

Changes need to happen at the leafs. Butnin order for that tonhappen shanahan needs to go. Go back 12 months and look at what happened to Dubas when he suggested he was going to breaknip the core 4. He was canned 2 days later. Marner is the logical scapegoat, but he needs to waive his NTC. In my uneducated opinion, trade marner to utah, then use whatever capital u net from him and use that in a trade for a top d and if hes gettable Saros.

Their not moving Marner who is a way better player than Keller for the same type of player, small and doesn't get to the greasy area's for what's needed in the playoffs.
Keller wouldn't change anything in that regard, besides being a lesser version of Marner.
And Woll is their goalie of the future, who's on a league min contract, the Leafs don't need a goalie.
Woll will be fine going them forward. If Marner is traded, it will involve a top pair right shot d man.

    • @melvynobrien6193

@@melvynobrien6193 Doing better than Hellebuyck so far in these playoffs, his save percentage was in the .880 save percentage range, and he makes 8.5m per year.
So I guess the Jets definitely need a number one goalie, according to you.
Any goalie that can keep this Leafs team at 2.5 goals against or less is a number 1 goals, the way they play defense.
Woll is fine, Toronto's main need is a number one right shot d man, it has been for years.
Then the other guys would be slotted in accordingly and the d would be way better. That's their problem. Also only scoring 2 goals or less for 12 of the last 13 games in the playoffs is a major problem.
Patric Roy in his prime wouldn't even be able to save them from that kind of offensive output. Goalies can't score goals, only stop them, and Woll does that.
If the core four doesn't start producing more effectively like they are getting paid to do, and their PP continues to go 1 for 17, they're done, simple as that.
It's too bad Matthew's got sick and hurt or whatever, because he looked like he was finally coming around and starting to take his game to the next level.
Willie was out sick, but if he soon don't start producing he's gotta wake up with zero goals so far this series.
And Marner and JT, only have one goal each so far which is unacceptable also.
If all their big boys show up, they'll be fine, if not their donefore, nomater who they got in net.

    • @bradbradbury8561
      @bradbradbury8561 17 дней назад

Look up Hellebuyck's playoff stats, and Woll's playoff stats and see who's are better, you'll be suprised, it's Woll by a country mile, it's not even close.
Now do I think Woll is a better goalie, no, but their very close, and he has a chance to be better.
His play-off stats are better already, and that's on a much worse defensive team than the Jets.
So Woll is the least of the Leafs problems. It's scoring goals, which sounds ridiculous to say with the amount of talent they have up front. But that's what happens when they continually underperform year after year.
And until they stop underperforming year after year, nothing's gonna change, and they'll continue to loose.
So it's entirely upto the Leafs core four if they win or not. They are the only ones who can change their fate.
The rest of the Leafs have done their job, it's time for the core four to do their job also.

Trades for Marner would have to be more realistic. Marner to Carolina for Jarvis, Morrow, and Suzuki. People saying Keller for Marner straight up is not realistic. Another would be Kochetkov, Orlov, and Heimosalmi. Marner is elite. Soft in the dirty areas but elite.

@@jackshyper1380 I’m a die hard Hurricanes fan. But obviously you don’t know what an elite player is. 65 points doesn’t make you an elite player! I’m sure NHL 24 probably says something about elite player. Marner had 94 points after his 3rd season (not 67). There’s only a handful of true elite players in the NHL and if you don’t understand that then NHL 24 is not the place to learn it. I seriously doubt that Jarvis hits the same impact that Marner has. Plus Jarvis is a restricted free agent. Along with Necas. One of these two players is getting traded. So, go play another period of NHL 24 and trades like Keller for Marner doesn’t happen in the true NHL.
