  • For the first time in many years a steam hauled passenger train ran up the Midland Main Line from London and through Leicester on its way to York.
It is unusual to have snow in the Midlands in November but there was a lot of it about making for a magical atmosphere. Things didn't go quite to plane though when a traffic jam on the M1 motorway caused the locomotive to run short of water!

Droplight filming is banned on railtours now. Even though iv filmed at droplights in the past iv been getting harassment from people for it so iv had to stop although I do intend to still film onboard tours (even if having to prove it was done safely from inside).

Nice video I filmed at 14 Arches Viaduct near River Nene Wellingborough both railtours and the 3rd one from Manchester near Harrowden Junction, filmed all returns Wellingborough Station and got lovely shot of Duchess racing a 66 on platforms 3 and 4 quite rare.

It's probably not a wise decision to include droplight video footage as there are the wrong type of people about who will spot this and then problems will start to arrise where they try and get you banned from travelling on any railtours completely. Iv had grief off people and a large amount of my content has had to be set as unlisted as they tried it with me. Even with filming inside they like to harass me so im just issueing a warning.

Thanks David for your words of caution. The bulk of the filming was shot from my seat in the coach with the camera pressed up against the glass with a small proportion shot from a vestibule window, again with the camera inside the train. It was a surprise to me recently when I totted up the mileage I have covered on steam hauled railtours over four decades - over 22,000 miles all without incident. Unfortunately though I think my railtour days are over as a recent change of address to an area inaccessible to railtours has seen to that . Great whilst it lasted though.
