My wife bought a curved Stihl and her plan, "quote", was to do the weed eating. It didn't take long until she decided it was to heavy and hard for her, so my son and I, mostly my son, are now tasked with the Stihl weed eater and she got a battery powered Craftsman one. I'm going to get me one of those Echo Speed Feed 400 for our Stihl, it looks like it works awesome. Thanks for the great advise, I enjoyed the video, I hope you have a good night and rest of the week!
I will be looking into getting one of those heads like yours!!! The strap does help a lot. When I trim around headstones I always wear the strap over my shoulder. Helps with the load a lot. Very good video Ross! Thank you!
I have a bigger Stihl with the harness which I like. I put the head that uses the three white plastic blades which I also like. I have about 4 acres of horse pasture with vinyl fencing that I weed whip every week to 10 days. Very rare to break a blade. I can get two passes out of the blades. Occasionally the bushing that the blade rides in will fall apart. Usually after I run a new set a little, I will flip them over because they will start to curve down. High rpms keeps them from catching the ground or obstacles.
I have the echo trimmer head and found out it matters which way you install the string spool, depending on which direction the head rotates, it pays to pay attention to that when you disassemble for new string
Ross, My weed eater has the same style of loading the string which makes life a whole lot easier. You should soak your line and water overnight It will make it last longer The first time I heard about it I thought it was crazy myself🤣🤣 thanks Michael
Good video -- glad you are finally pleased with your new weed-eater. The last one I bought was a Craftsman 20 volt electric and after less than a year of use, the shroud surrounding the string head broke and I have looked at it several times and I don't think it can be repaired. It is kind of upsetting.
I used to my own lawncare business. My back would get sore using my sthil trimmers from the weight of the powerhead. I ended up purchasing 2 Darwin Grips. They're a little expensive for the home owner but if you going to use for an extended time it's worth the money and your back will thank you.
It's so nice to see someone else struggle with the same shibbet that only I thought happens to me 😂 I had an ole Husqvarna trimmer, it had a easy head to load, but it was like humping 'the pig' M60 when using it ! Keep calm and carry on ! Great video ! Hey Buddy the Dog !
Greatest pocketknife ever! You've sold me on that ECHO bump head, will pick one up next time I'm at the Farm Store. I always dread having to load the weedeater with string.
Great video Ross .That certainly is a super easy head to reload. I have a landscaping business and have 4 trimmers with a speed feed head. They all came with them on as I only have Echo trimmers. The head does seem to work well on your Stihl trimmer though. I enjoy your videos and look for them daily Thanks Ross
One can do their best job of thinking about whacking while in the house watching someone on videos, who are supplied free equipment, extrol the virtues of the product they are pushing. It is no fun to weed whack unless it is at least 100 degrees in the shade. Knock the weeds down in the winter, use the products you control weeds in your fields to kill them. A local seed corn producer had big corn viewing days with high end entertainment. They had spread a grandular week control all around their buildings and bins. Some guy light his smoke, threw the match down and they found out that the weed control was quickly flammable. My son who was about 14 was a camera nut and had a 35mm camera. We took him to the event, where I had a White air planter on display, and he was taking photos of Crystal Gayle who was performing. She commented "Son, you forgot to take the lenscap off." Everyone got a laugh while he was looking to see if he had left it on. She made some statement that made him not feel so stupid for thinking he could look through the viewfinder with the cap on the SLR camera. She chatted with him a bit when her show was over.
The head I'm talking about was available at TSC, hopefully it'll work and doesn't prove me a liar! I don't care what kind of trimmer I get that's the 1st thing I do is change the head out!
Ross, check out the echo black diamond string. I know everyone keeps saying get some type of blade but they would get ate up pretty quick in your application. The black diamond string is pricey but man is it fantastic. By far the longest lasting stuff I’ve ever used.
I hope you have better luck with that than I do. Every time I getting a gas powered weed trimmer, I use it one time ,and it never runs again. I must be jinx with some kind of curse 😂😂😂. Thanks for the video. See you later.
I absolutely hate the "string" for these trimmers, which is why I changed out all the heads on all 3 of my trimmers. I have a Milwaukee, Ryobi battery powered and a JD gas trimmer. The JD has the grass blade that looks like a saw blade along with the trim head. Changed that to a tri-blade that has plastic knives instead of the string. Did the same with my Ryobi. Haven't found a head for the Milwaukee, currently not worried about it. Ross, the ones I use are plastic knives, never had one shatter, just have worn them down and yes, I trim around a lot of stuff including equipment.
You made that look pretty easy. I always had trouble with those things. Forget the string, I go for the blades or the skinny cable instead. Seems like I'm always breaking the string.
Ross yes the lady Chickanic on youtube video she talks about the weed whip string in water over night. I don't know how to send it to you. lots of great info.
Call Ross I’ve tried that soaking in water. It didn’t help me. I had problems with the string actually melting together inside the string headI was also cutting oversized weeds but I went to the nylon blades and I like that much better
I was never a strap man my younger days but now I am 53 going on 54 the day after Christmas I find myself using it smarter not harder slowly slowly but sure I am figuring it out
Good day Ross!!!! I got a quick question for you, I just bought a 1755 gas and I know for sure the diesels has that problem with the engine after 4000 hours I was just wondering if the gas had the same problems Thanks Also I ordered one of your shirts, can’t wait to get it!!!!
Enjoy your video ,the extra cost to make it right ?? but you do have a good machine with a long life. liked you showing loading the string having the same type head never knew the proper way.thanks
Mr. Ross get on that throttle that things got a lot more rpm’s in it. I think that’s English Ivy. Got some in my yard, a nuclear blast will not kill It! Good luck! Maybe goats:)

That speedfeed is hands down the best weed eater head out there.

You almost poked my eye out with your cutting apparatus 😂😂

Good video Ross. Cuts great now. Thanks for sharing.
Greatest pocketknife ever! You've sold me on that ECHO bump head, will pick one up next time I'm at the Farm Store. I always dread having to load the weedeater with string.
Dang I gotta get one of them. I have the older stihl head and it works fine but wow that’s better.
Great video Ross .That certainly is a super easy head to reload. I have a landscaping business and have 4 trimmers with a speed feed head. They all came with them on as I only have Echo trimmers. The head on our Stihl battery operated weed eater loads the same way as the Echo head you installed.
great video thank you for showing the results of the new head it looks like it is gonna work fine
New head seams to be the real deal . Great video Ross , see ya tomorrow

I have one. I have the same head and love it.
I would put the old
Head on the tree, stump and have court like you did the air cleaner lol that was funny

Ross the weed eater guru

You can order just the plastic cap that wears on the gound for about $5 ea.
I’m going to get one of those heads and the one on mine like yours I’m gonna take to my nephew. Because he can throw farther than me.😮😮
Ross yes the lady Chickanic on youtube video she talks about the weed whip string in water over night. I don't know how to send it to you. lots of great info.
If you're going to keep that trimmer, there's also a head out there that you can put steel blades on, and that may solve the problem!
Call Ross I’ve tried that soaking in water. It didn’t help me. I had problems with the string actually melting together inside the string headI was also cutting oversized weeds but I went to the nylon blades and I like that much better
We use styhl nylon blades
I was never a strap man my younger days but now I am 53 going on 54 the day after Christmas I find myself using it smarter not harder slowly slowly but sure I am figuring it out
For sure use the strap it will save your back.
I would say you just sold a lot of weed walkers for Stihl😊
Good day Ross!!!! I got a quick question for you, I just bought a 1755 gas and I know for sure the diesels has that problem with the engine after 4000 hours I was just wondering if the gas had the same problems

I have asked around about that evasive vine big problem for me.
A hand held bush hog
All stock trimmer heads suck, I always replace it first thing
Can i borrow that ?
Next thing you know, you’ll be cutting down those unwanted trees around the buildings. 😮
