Listening to Ross talk about in today's adventure reminds me of the Rocky and Bulwinkle cartoon!!
That's the brand fence charger my dad used way back in the day. Worked great and I think that's the only one he ever had. Worked great and was bullet proof.
Holy crap, I need to go to the supply tractor store and get one of those fencing pliers!
hi ross and buddy the dog, we had a remote 40 pasture that we had to use a battery operated fence charger and also a old cow that would lean the wire into to the page wire fence and then over she would go, well one day i attached a wire to the coil of our 57 pickup and the other end to the hot wire and when she walked up to the hotwire leaned into it,and i cranked the engine over and pow that was it, she never did it again. It always seems to be a angus, our herefords never caused a problem. also we had a dog that had been dumped off on us and she grew up to be the best cattle dog ever if a cow got out she would run them back to farm and bite them in ass as they went thru the hole, this is a hint for buddy the dog,,,,,,,,,,,,dan and bev
Good one Ross. That should keep that thick headed critter in. Buddy the dog is looking good. Thanks for sharing.
I feel you did the right thing with the ground and the Cyclops charger. You may to out to check the calf and it's hair is all gone and has BBQ sauce all over it!🤣Have a good evening!
Ross you need to put a lug bolt in Freddy, and good luck with your new fencer.
First thing we see on the video is BUDDY the Dog !!!!
pour some water on the ground rod, that will add some strength to the fencer.
Hey, you cleaned up the vines and found a four basket tedder.😅😅😅😅
Needed to take the 2 fuses off the sides of the new unit, little plastic bags with replacements in case it blows
Need a weed burner fencer. Then you can light road ditches on fire lol
Looks good. I have the same fencer works good. Definitely animal noises if you hit it
Liked it!
Get a spool of Oregon Magnum Gatorline in .095 and you won't have issues. I mow 100 lawns a week and have no issues.
Had a herd of angus fifty years ago and always a calf or two that paid no attention to hot wire. Not sure if they just had a high pain tolerance or it was their furry coats and they didn’t reach out and sniff where they were going, just head down and walk thru. Had 20 old cows and a bull and they were true believers, would not even cross where the fence had been. We fenced corn stalks with the little rebar posts and 18 or 20 ga “electric fence wire”. Of course occasionally there was the Evil to the core one that was a
problem til he was on wheels headed out the driveway, likely with BTD barking after the truck clear out to the road. Good luck-but remember CoolHand Luke,”some men(calves) you just can’t reach!
When I was a kid my grandpa had an international fencer and that thing would knock you on your (animal noise) and cut through trees. They don’t make them like that anymore
Ross, I think you should give it a good acid test and take your shoes off 😂🤣😂🤣 when I was a kid Dad's electric fence there's a button that he could hit and supposedly it would burn off weeds that would touch the line. Even though every summer dad would take the sickle mower in mow underneath the electric fence. Thanks Michael
Nice video Ross
👍👍
We used to use a fencer called Weed Chopper and they would last for years. Zap you hard also.
There's always that one jerk that finds their way out when the fence is off. This one might be the one that goes into YOUR freezer.
great video hope the new fence charger does a good job for ya
The wayward calf needs to be standing in a mudhole and touch the wire with its nose...ought to let out a calf distress call that will get the attention of the cows. LOL Dad had a hot wire around the back of a small section of pasture where the fence was poorer. He liked to let the steers out in late winter when the frost was coming out of the ground. Talk about cheap entertainment when they'd nose the hot wire.
I saw your arm jurk and I felt that😂😂😂. Don't do that anymore 😂😂😂. Put the jumper wire on and that should fix the problem cow. Thanks for the video. See you later.
Cows with grill marks should be worth more. 😂
Ross, it seems to me that you shouldn’t be getting sparks when you disconnect the gate handle. The fence shouldn’t spark unless it’s going to ground. I’ll bet you’re going to find you’ve got ground shorts in your fence. Bad insulators or somewhere there’s branches on the wire. When you short the fence to a steel post with a screwdriver, it sparks but if you cross a hot wire to another hot wire there isn’t a spark, because there isn’t a connection to ground, which is why I’m wondering if the drop in power you’re seeing is actually direct shorts in the fence. Worth a look. Just like the other comment, take an AM radio along and you’ll know when you find it. The buzz on the radio will tell you.
Looks like barbed wire might be in order just saying might persuade the calf
I would bet you that the hole in the back of the building was for pigs.
Nickola Tesla had the great idea that if he had great grounds and then released massive amounts of electricity into the air using his Tesla Coil, electricity could be used by people all over the world by using antennas to collect the radiated energy without the need for powerlines. His New Jersey large-scale proof of concept project was about ready to go when Westinghouse pulled his monetary backing.
You should walk your fence line and look for insulators that are arching. Dirty, aged, and broken insulators can ground your fence out or reduce its shock ability. A cheap battery-powered A.M. radio will go nuts when you get near an arching through an insulator or a tree branch to the ground is found.
Sucker punching rods are a son of the kanutson😂😂 you are so funny I watch just to mentally document your self claimed injuries 🤣 😂 😆 😄
Whats wrong with the service truck
