  • Finally, the Indian team wins an ICC event after having dominated the world game for so long. We give the team their flowers, marvel at the way Bumrah has silenced all doubters, do the blasphemy of comparing him to Wasim, and consider the tactics and choking allegations from a fantastic final.

    We tend to overglorify the past. Waseem isn't untouchable. He belongs to an era where cricket wasn't as batting friendly as it is today. He could rely on reverse swing because of 1 ball being used most of the time (1992 being an exception), and let's not forget how easy it was to tamper the ball at the time.
    Bumrah has none of these advantages and to be such dominating bowler in today's era easily takes him above the likes of Wasim Akram. And yep, i'm saying this as a pakistani

    jeez analogy of jadeja to imad.............that is some dreamy evaluation

  • @Shourya_Pathak_
    @Shourya_Pathak_ 4 дня назад +12

    Stats shouldn't be seen in isolation. Jadeja played just 22 balls and scored 35 runs. That's SR of 160 and went for 106 in 14 overs that 7.57 Economy. He was India Sixth bowler and Eighth batsman. Having him at no 8 gives India assurance that they can go hard at the top, in case of collapse, Jadeja will score a 45 ball 50 and take India to a par score. And Jadeja is very good at not getting out and scoring without any risks. He can score that 45 ball 50 7-8 out of 10 times. And he saves you 5-7 runs on field, and at best, he is a good defensive bowler. So, overall a plus.

    • @naumanrupani
      @naumanrupani 3 дня назад +1

      You gotta ask why is he the 6th bowler and 8th batter and just an insurance policy. He has unfortunately faded. I always rated him very high, and feel in white ball he has (or made to) underachieve. As you said, he had the potential to actually take over Yuvi's spot at 5, being even a better bowler than Yuvi. For some odd reason he never got a shot there.

As you guys said yourself that asian teams are not capable in holding to such catches.. come on man.. Honestly, they deserve to win this tournament.. Listen, as a pak cricket fan, this is a really bittersweet episode.
    on one hand, there is ahmer bhai, who has his finger (entire hand maybe) on the pulse of our desi culture. then there is osman bhai, who knows HOW to write about cricket, and who knows what the falooda is pakistani cricket. Usually, a sports team fandom is lucky to have 1 of these guys. We get both of them, at the same time, roughly the same age, doing a podcast during a bleak bleak time for pakistani cricket.
    its incredibly soul crushing (ok not that much) for me to listen to these 2 speak so passionately about an INDIAN win. dont get me wrong, i am so happy for rohit and co and bumrah for what they have achieved. I am so delighted to see rahul getting his due. And dont get me started on kohli. But it should have been us. Ahmer and Osman should have been taking about Naseems last 2 overs, Saim's career definiing knock in the finals, Rizwan's crazy catch, Babar's on field kaptaani, or Shaheen's early opening spell.
    But there is nothing, just broken dreams. 2 giants of pakistani culture and cricket talking with so much love about our "professional/emotional/whatever" rivals.
    So yeah. i will keep returning to batta fast always because its a loving community hosted by these 2.
    But for once, for once, i want a 1 hour episode, where we are discussing this current lot winning a trophy.
    Lots of love to india, deserved champions.

    Naqvi bhai,
    We pull your leg not troll.
    However, Boom is not Wasim's match. India has produced good fast bowling talent post Srinath, Prasad, Agarkar era beginning with Zaheer.
    However, India is yet to learn how to develop fast bowling talent into Great Fast Bowling pairs or better, packs. Also, Indian Domestic Cricket scene is yet to leverage Fast Bowling by producing wickets which respond to good Fast bowling. Domestic scene in India is Batting dominated.
    The Tennis Ball Cricket is Tennis Ball NOT TAPE BALL. Even there, it is about innovative hitting than bowling at express pace.

    It's not important what Jaddu actually did, since he operated as an empty signifier for India in this WC. Batters could play more freely knowing that he was still in the pavillion, and bowlers could bowl with a bit less pressure knowing that Jaddu could sneak in an over or two.

Bumrah has been simply sensational in almost every game he turn out for India irrespective of the format. Hes simple invincible & unplayable at times, delivered at so many crucial times for india. His Conversion rate in terms of building the dot balls pressure to take a wicket is just remarkable.

    The best thing about this Kohli and Pant both bought into Rohit's Vision of aggressive style of play. These Guys though they have huge range of strokes (more so in case of Pant) usually take their time to settle in, access the pitch, and then go on the offensive mode. Kohli we all know, even Pant, whenever he has played a great test knock, he started off very slow and then he picks his spots, which shots to play against which bowler, etc. The best thing is India has finally bought into the Eoin Morgan Style of playing T20 cricket and now, they got players to do that. Now, they are looking for 30-35 avg but 150-160 SR instead of 45 Avg 135 SR like of players.

    Ok, the advertisement cushions in cricket grounds are arranged in such a fashion that even a small contact and it is supposed to move. The slight feather that you can see might be due to the air resistance's direction which will be in the opposite direction as the moving object's velocity/momentum (mass*velocity). when you come running at a certain speed, you push the air in your running direction that it turn results in air particles applying force in opposite direction (By virtue of Newton's Third Law). In simple words, if a truck crosses you on road, your shirt flows due to air movement. Similarly when you running, you affect smaller objects around you due to air movement.

    Miller would have been on the crease and needed just 10 off of 5.
    And even Rabada and Maharaj were able to get 8 off the remaining 5.
    And remember Hardik bowled a full toss. He somehow gets imp wickets, but his bowling wasn't perfect at all.
    43:48 - actually he wasn't that close to the boundary.
    The top angle clearly shows he was pretty far away from the boundary. I can send you screen shots on social media.
    48:59 - Indian spinners and bowlers looked ordinary in the 2023 ODI final as well, when aussies smashed them. And against Eng in the semi final when we lost by 10 wickets. (and against Pak too when we lost by 10 wickets).

    great podcast, a bit disservice that you guys have so low subscribers, a guess sign of times that any analytical discussion is hard for people to enjoy.. and to all the Indian dudes who were expecting only praise, these guys are more balanced than most Pakistanis on the street.. pls don't look at all analysis with your biased view

    I also don't think that India was a far superior side. No, Maharaj and Shamsi are equally good spinners. Henrich klassen is the best spin basher in the world. I don't need to comment on Rabada and Nortje, De Kock is best WK batter in the world in last 10 years, Tristan Stubbs is a very good emerging talent, he was fab in the IPL and also scored 300 in FC cricket, he is their Jaiswal/Gill. Miller is off course amazing and so is Markram, Markram has hugely underachieved to his potential, (KL Rahul od SA) and Reeza Hendricks is good player too. The only difference is that India had all rounders in Hardik and Axar and they didn't.

    The greatness of bumrah is unprecedented as he is bowling in the era of batsmen scoring 260 runs in t20s and on the longevity part no bowler can play as long as players of yesteryears just due to the shear no. Of matches and formats. Anyways an awesome episode.

    Another controversial take: Bumrah’s ball to Hendricks was a GREAT ball, no doubt about that, BUT it wasn’t the GOAT level ball at all! Jesa sab portray kar rahay hain!

      It was a goat level ball in t20s it was not test that too on a flat wicket it was the best ball of the tournament any best ball of the tournament is one of the greatest ever

    Bumrah better than Wasim? Lol you're high bud and this is coming from an Indian. Wasim is the greatest period. Wasim, Steyn the best to ever to do.

    The toblerone movement has two videos circulating, where there is a movement and another one where there is none. One is edited for sure. Secondary consideration would be air disturbances due to movement around it

      are yaar.. 😮‍💨 there's literally multiple angles already which showed his foot was many centimetres away from the boundary. It wasn't even a different of millimetres as all these people are pretending.
