One of the best things, in my opinion, to come from quarantine are the lecture videos now forever circulating on the internet. You've created great resources for us students to be able to come back to if we ever need a refresher!
This was posted 3 years ago and now you have been making a lot more useful videos that I have been watching! Thank you for the videos you are making, I have learned a lot in your class.
I like how clear all the pictures showing each muscle are. They really show the orientation of the muscles and the movements they cause at each joint when they contract.
These lectures really helped throughout the whole year. I’m glad these videos were made because I think even after this class I will still go back to these videos.
These videos have been so helpful this entire semester. Cant believe this is the last lecture version of the semester, they have been a great reference point for me this semester.
Once again, I really appreciated how each of the major muscles has there own slide with actions, it makes it so much easier for me to learn the difference between all of these muscles.
It is cool to hear a story about a small muscle that is not talked about much inspiring you to work into this field. These videos have been very helpful to prepare for lab in class.
This seems like an overwhelming amount of information, but is just the tip of the iceberg. Thank you for taking the time to create these for our learning.
I had never heard that if you sprint that will probably make your gastrocnemius sore while if you walk a lot that will probably make your soleus sore. This was a great video showing all of the muscles. The visuals were really helpful for me.
It is rewarding to know we have completed the whole body. I enjoyed how you broke the course up into different sections starting superiorly and ending inferiorly on the body!
These videos have been such a great tool to further my understanding of the human body. They are an incredible resource for anyone seeking to review any section of the body.
This semester fly by pretty fast! I can’t believe this is the last video, this class has really helped me in regards to getting information about our muscles and its functions! Can’t wait for next semester!
I really appreciate how you transitioned this class to online, especially since I will be able to watch these videos again and again. I'm sure I'll be back to reference these in the future as well. Thank you so much for this semester!
I like how you incorporate stories to help us remember specific material. It helps me out when we have a quiz or exam because I remember that specific story so quickly.
Crazy that this is the last lecture video for this class, really appreciate the effort you put into these videos they have helped a ton with the quizzes every week and more than anything just made me feel more comfortable with the language of kinesiology and knowing the actual anatomy way better.
Can't believe we are already at the end of the semester! This video was really helpful in locating the muscles of the ankle/foot joint and their actions. The ankle and foot and way more complex than I thought so the explanations were great!
I enjoyed hearing your story about how you fell in love with kinesiology! Even though your running career ended, it opened up a new opportunities in teaching!
Crazy to think this is the last video for the semester! Dr. Goodin, you are appreciated so immensely! Will definitely always check out your newest videos when they drop!!
I was fascinated about how walking and running make your different calve muscles sore. Thankyou for sharing how your injury led you to learning so much about optimal health and human performance, that is awesome! Thank you for your helpful videos this semester!
The part of the video that was the most helpful for me was understanding that the location of the muscle determines the function. This made understanding the muscle action easier because if you know location it give a hint to what it is doing to the foot. Very helpful!
These videos have been really helpful in me learning the specific bony landmarks, muscle actions and movements of our body each week. There have been good refreshers as well as I have learned so many new things about the way our bodies move!
Grouping the muscles of the foot and ankle based on location was especially helpful when trying to picture actions. This video helped me understand how these muscles work in relation to the crucial structures in the surrounding area.
I loved the intro as that really summed up those years of learning all online which really did not go well for many however I'm happy that we're all back in person and able to put this into practice!
The cross-over between A&P and this class has been awesome because I feel like a lot of the information is permanently engraved in my brain. The way this class was set up was new to me but I appreciate the effort put into these videos as they are super helpful study material!!
This video was such a great review of all the muscles within the foot and ankle! The explanations made it much easier to break down all the specific movements that each muscle does.
These videos have been such a huge help especially when studying for the quizzes. I also have learned so much from this class since each section goes in depth with exercise and how the body moves as a whole!
Thank you for sharing your story on how you ended where you are today. I truly appreciate other people's stories especially when it deals with overcoming an obstacle in life or using that specific event as a way of opening another door.
This video really helped me visualize the of the muscles of the ankle and foot. All of your videos this semester were amazing and they not only helped me visualize the muscles and their actions, but they were fun and entertaining!
Absolutely loved hearing about your love-hate relationship with the tibialis posterior. What a sick turnout that has been! Can't believe we are already near the end, thank you for these in depth and creative videos that are very useful even outside of covid quarantine! It has been an awesome learning experience for sure.
There are a lot more muscles of the lower limb than I thought, and yet what we talking about most is spraining out ankle because of the stretch of our ligaments. It is important to biuld these muscles to help prevent injuries. Thank you for sharing!
The muscles of the foot & ankle is a muscle group that unlike the others like knee, arm, chest I'm not that knowledgeable for it. So this was a great resource for me to learn this muscle groups. Also this class was a blur, it went way too fast in my opinion. I'm so happy to have been in this class and learned even more about the body.
Dr. Goodin, It was so exciting learning about each of the major joints of the body ( again) but this time with ease and clarity through your amazing class. Thank you for a semester long of fun and engaging content!
This video really helped with breaking down all the movements of the foot and ankle. It's interesting to know how the muscles could have many actions but it depends on where the tendons run
Having all of the diagrams next to the functions makes it a lot easier to remember where all of the muscles are. There are so many tightly packed muscles in the lower leg that I normally have a tough time remembering.
The format of the video always is so clear and helps me break down the muscle actions! It's also very helpful when doing my individual palpitation videos!
It seems like a lot of people within the kines dept have a similar origin story to yours when asked why they chose kines; It almost always goes back to when they were an athlete, how much time they spent in a PT office for sport-related injuries, or just how much they loved their sport and the staff of healthcare professionals that worked alongside them in those times. I think it shows a lot about what these professions do and the way they can impact others in so many different ways.
This was a very helpful review, especially for those reminders of how the muscles pull the foot into different actions. I usually find it hard to visualize how flexors of the ankle attach and pull, so this was very helpful in that area!
It was inspiring to hear your story of becoming interested in your career because of your tibialis posterior. It's crazy that our weaknesses can (quite literally) lead us toward our strengths. Thank you for this amazing video series!
Props to you for making all these very detailed videos. what stood out to me in this video are the peroneus muscles. Never learned about these muscles until this video lecture.
All of your videos have been so helpful for me and my understanding of the body. The way you explained all the muscles in the ankle and how you grouped them so it would be easy to understand their action was very helpful. Thank you for making such creative and informative videos this semester!
It was interesting to learn how those who have shorter or bunched up calf muscles are usually sprinters because of all the elastic energy they have stored up in their muscles. Great video!
I appreciate how this video was organized because it helped me learn the actions and muscles better! Thank you for a geat semester. I cannot believe how fast this semester flew by.
It is wild tho think that this is the last video out of the series. Thank you for teaching us so much about the human body and how all these muscles move to allow us to carry on our daily lives. That is cool how you shared how the tibialis posterior is what got you into structural kinesiology. The ankle is a very complex joint with a ton of muscles.
I like that the muscles and structures are related to those at the wrist. Thank you for making these videos and I'm glad that something good came out of quarantine!
I appreciate the visuals you provide as this gives me the general concept of the muscles' location and function. They also help guide any questions that I can bring to class when we do palpations.
I struggled with all the muscles and movement of the leg since there are so many but watching the videos helps me to see and understand their movements while you annotate the images. It also helps that the muscles of the foot are somewhat similar to those in the hand.
Thank you so much Dr. Goodin for teaching me so much about the human body and for making me more aware of how important strength and conditioning is for the body! I enjoyed this class so much!
Great job explaining the different muscle fibers in the gastrocnemius and soleus. It makes a lot of sense why my soleus is sore after walking around campus all day!
Thank you so much for everything! This has been one of my favorite classes because I love to apply what I learn here to my workouts in the gym. Thank you again!
In this video, Dr. Goodin discussed the muscles of the ankle and foot. First he discussed the groupings of the muscles (anterior- dorsal flexors, posterior- plantar flexors, lateral-evertors, medial- inverters). Next he discussed all the muscles and their actions. While going through that he discussed the line of pull of the muscles and their origins and insertions which helped to visualize how those muscles make those actions. That was very helpful. I found it interesting how the gastrocnemius is fast twitch muscle fibers and the soleus is slow twitch and how if someone has a shorter gastrocnemius, they are typically built for sprinting as their achilles is longer and can store more elastic energy for sprinting.
Thank you for a great semester! These videos have been very helpful and interesting! I'm definitely grateful to be back learning in person instead of everything online.
How crazy that this is the last lecture video - they’ve been so incredibly helpful and informative, and I really appreciate all the effort you put into them
This video was helpful for breaking down the different muscles of the foot and ankle. It is interesting how some muscles share similar actions but can vary in secondary actions due to origins and insertions.
This is a great video to come back to to review foot and ankle muscles. It can be really easy to mix up these muscles but I like how much easier it is to know the action when you learn the origin and insertion.
I enjoyed learning about how walking and running make your different calve muscles sore and how the different muscles can effect the arches in the foot!

I like how clear all the pictures showing each muscle are. They really show the orientation of the muscles and the movements they cause at each joint when they contract.
i love how all the muscles are shown and highlighted. there is a detailed explanation of the muscles throughout the video which is helpful!
The origin and insertion being highlighted on all the muscles really helps me visualize where they are!
These lectures really helped throughout the whole year. I’m glad these videos were made because I think even after this class I will still go back to these videos.
The very first slide that explained the movements based on each muscle's location really helped me remember what each muscle does.
These videos have been so helpful this entire semester. Cant believe this is the last lecture version of the semester, they have been a great reference point for me this semester.
Once again, I really appreciated how each of the major muscles has there own slide with actions, it makes it so much easier for me to learn the difference between all of these muscles.

This seems like an overwhelming amount of information, but is just the tip of the iceberg. Thank you for taking the time to create these for our learning.
I really appreciate that you shared how your tibialis posterior injury led you to develop your passion for your career!
Truly blessed I get to watch theses videos at home, but as well as going in to class and palpating all the bones/muscles in the foot and the ankle!!
I like how you split up the muscles into categories to help with locating them. Thank you for all you videos this semester!
I had never heard that if you sprint that will probably make your gastrocnemius sore while if you walk a lot that will probably make your soleus sore. This was a great video showing all of the muscles. The visuals were really helpful for me.
So grateful to be able to learn and take this course in person.
Having the course lectures online has helped me to study for the quizzes and exams! Thanks for everything!!
I really liked how in-depth the actions are and how you explain how these actions are possible because of the origins and insertions
It is rewarding to know we have completed the whole body. I enjoyed how you broke the course up into different sections starting superiorly and ending inferiorly on the body!
These videos have been such a great tool to further my understanding of the human body. They are an incredible resource for anyone seeking to review any section of the body.
Going through all of the muscle actions helped me to understand them in a more detailed way
This semester fly by pretty fast! I can’t believe this is the last video, this class has really helped me in regards to getting information about our muscles and its functions! Can’t wait for next semester!
Loved hearing about your love/hate relationship with the anterior tibialis! Glad it brought you here today!
I really appreciate how you transitioned this class to online, especially since I will be able to watch these videos again and again. I'm sure I'll be back to reference these in the future as well. Thank you so much for this semester!
The first slide showing where each muscle is helped me remember what each muscle does.
Your tibialis posterior story is memorable and it just shows how we all get into this profession for our own reasons!
I like how you incorporate stories to help us remember specific material. It helps me out when we have a quiz or exam because I remember that specific story so quickly.
It is so interesting how a personal experience, like your injury can actually launch your career in a different way!
Crazy that this is the last lecture video for this class, really appreciate the effort you put into these videos they have helped a ton with the quizzes every week and more than anything just made me feel more comfortable with the language of kinesiology and knowing the actual anatomy way better.

These videos are very helpful when trying to study as they allow me to rewatch and take more detailed notes.
These videos have been so helpful throughout this class. Still crazy to think that this is just scratching the surface of how complex our body is!
The way you explained the muscle actions and the groupings was great I feel like I have a pretty good understanding of them now
Explaining how the muscle partakes in the actions was helpful in deeply understanding the muscles.
Thank you for sharing how your tibialis posterior interested you in your career. These videos have been super helpful!
I really appreciated how broken down everything was, and how good the description and explanation of everything was
I liked how you talked about the advantages that people have with a higher calf insertion, leading to a longer Achilles.
Great way to end the semester! Thanks for all the helpful and informative videos that we have utilized throughout.
This video was a great refresher on the muscles of the ankle and the foot! Thank you for a great semester Dr. Goodin!

Grouping the muscles of the foot and ankle based on location was especially helpful when trying to picture actions. This video helped me understand how these muscles work in relation to the crucial structures in the surrounding area.
How can this be the lecture video! We have come so far since the head and the spinal cord. These videos have been a great way to review the body.
I loved the intro as that really summed up those years of learning all online which really did not go well for many however
I'm happy that we're all back in person and able to put this into practice!
This semester flew by! Thanks so much for helping me gain so much knowledge about the human body in such a short amount of time Dr. Goodin🐐!
It was cool to hear about how a single muscle affected your entire career and gave you a new passion for a very cool field.
The way you explained the muscle actions and the groupings was very helpful. Really enjoyed these videos!
This video was really helpful in learning the muscles of the lower leg and learning about what muscle actions they perform.
