You should have called this the battle of the 3 rows since the CX-90 Turbo S Signature (Premium Plus in the US) does not have 7 seats and it is closer in price to the Telluride.”
However, the Turbo Premium Plus DOES have 7 seats and even though it has the lesser engine it still outperforms and still gets much better gas mileage than the Telluride.
I agree with the analogy about wanting a sports car but you need a family vehicle. Although it isn’t as roomy as the Telluride the CX-90 is “roomy enough”and much more fun to drive.

    • @GCCarsCA
      @GCCarsCA  Год назад

Good point, the Mazda's seating capacity depends on the trim. We did take the freedom of calling it a 7-seater battle as we also talked about specifics of the models itself that affect the other trims with 7 seats.
And I'm glad that I'm not the only one that is willing to sacrifice a little roominess in favor of driving dynamics!

Yeah, but that 7th seat is in the 3rd row, and putting 3 people in that back row is a stretch. I like the bigger seats in the 2-person 3rd row. If the 7th seat was in the second row, I'd call that a benefit.

Pass. Drove the Mazda CX90, Honda Pilot Elite, and Kia Telluride. Ordered a Kia Telluride SX PRESTIGE.
The CX90 has very cramped driver foot/legroom. Even the salesman agreed. There is a plastic trim panel that intrudes into the lower left driver footwell area that forces your left foot and leg to an odd angle towards your throttle foot....my heels almost touched because of this.
The CX90 has almost zero interior storage spaces....the console is so shallow it will barely hold a man's wallet....seriously unusably small.
Love the styling...but too many user unfriendly attributes.
The lack of a 'touch' infotainment screen is SUPER ANNOYING...imagine having to rotate a knob to select a single letter....and then repeating this procedure to enter an navigation address....etc. Stupid nanny state engineering.
I drove the standard straight 6 and was unimpressed.....it has nothing over the Honda Pilot and Telluride.
People like the Mazda product for its 'road feel'......which is code for a busy, slightly jarring ride over today's deteriorated and pothole Laden roads. No thanks.
The Telluride has well thought out comfort, storage options, and generous space, and an amazing set of luxury features and digital dash....along with a good ride and decent performance....the Telluride is still king and the Honda Pilot a decent 2nd pick.
The Telluride and Pilot definitely have far more room and comfort in the 3rd row. I also checked out the Volkswagen Atlas.....and it had very German feel...super comfortable seats and probably the best feeling 3rd row comfort of them all....but it gets bad marks for many things....and the 2024 is deleting the V6 for a small 2.0 liter turbo..... Too small and lower HP for a large 3 row SUV.

Funny, for such a 'superior' auto, as you call it, there have been at least 2 CX90's on the local lot for at least 3 weeks.
On the Kia lot? They literally have 5 cars.....and not 1 Telluride?
Why is that? Demand is SO HIGH they cannot build enough to satisfy orders. I am lucky they selected my SX PRESTIGE o build as early as they did.....should be about 3 months when I get mine.....most are taking 4 -10 months.... Meanwhile...no takers on the Mazda lot. Lol
The Telluride, nicknamed 'SELL-U-RIDE' by KIA Salesmen.... Has won top SUV the last 4 years running by several major Auto Review outlets. Even with the introduction of the new Grand Highlander and Pilot and CX90, it still lands on top.
My guess is that you're butthurt because you have some allegiance or family connection to the reviewers.....sorry....but they did a poor job in their review and missed a lot of items that the more experienced RUclips reviewers didn't gloss over or miss altogether.
They are young...and naturally like a harsher road feel....and can't get beyond a 350hp motor.....even though they fail to point out (one of many glaring omissions) that to have that engine will require PREMIUM FUEL.
You can use regular at the sacrifice of horsepower....but then, you might as wrll get the standard engine.....PREMIUM FUEL I outrageously high in Biden's Economy....I imagine it is worse in Canada where everything costs more anyway....
I did my research...and I know more about the pluses and negatives of this and it's competitors than these guys do, that is for sure.
Nope...no buyer's remorse at all....looking forward to my Telly arriving in the next month they tell me....and will pay cash and be off to the races enjoying a well thought out suv.
I have owned a ton of cars in my life and am very discriminating. I have owned a Mazda.....came straight from Japan and was among the worst cars I have ever owned.....every piece of hardware trim that could break; did.... And it was burning oil by 78k miles.
The CX90 has a better look on the exterior...I will give them that....but having driven one, that is where it ended for me.
The exterior pulled me in and I was ready to buy on that alone....assuming the reviews met my personal test drive experience. They did not...and I walked away. Too many downsides.
Oh....and they should sell the CX90 with a shoe horn....you will need one to access the 3rd row...and you better hope you are of diminutive stature....or you aren't going to like it back there....WAY more room in the Telluride.

The CX90 is a 'smokers' car...... because the driver console will only hold a pack of cigarettes..... show us the depth of the Console... it is laughable..... it is about 2" deep.... that's it! You cannot put a square box of Kleenex in it. There is zero interior storage in the CX90....no where to put anything.

That's one of the main reasons I skipped the CX-90

I wanted to like it....the exterior is really nice....but so many negatives I couldn't do it. Bought a 2024 Kia Telluride last summer and have been 100% satisfied....it's an incredible automobile.
A lotnof people look down their nose at the Kia and Hyundai lines....but they have really gotten nice.
I am old enough to remember when Toyota was a running joke....now look at them.

@@tgilldesign Just got a 2024 Telluride X-Line myself. Love it. Other than gas mileage, it's a better vehicle than the Mazda.

congratulations! I have not checked my hand calculated mileage yet...but will do so soon. If I go by the computer, I'd say it isn't stellar, but probably average.... We have the SX PRESTIGE model.... Can't believe how smooth and quiet it is. Best wishes to your experience as well.

Obvious from the beginning that beardless dude had already made up his mind.... not objective at all.

That's the whole setup of the review. I spent a week with the CX-90, Jessie spent a week with the Telluride. So for the first half of the review both of us tried to show why "our" car is better. Then during the driving is when we form the conclusion on which one is actually better.
And we've spent a week with both vehicles at that point. Obviously we go into the review knowing which one is better, the review serves to explain why.

Brother we have no objective with this review except to be objective. I have no brand loyalty. The telluride is an awesome vehicle, so is the cx90. At the end of the day the only thing that matters is if you’re happy with what you’re driving. It’s hard to buy an objectively bad vehicle in 2023
