One of my favourite small details from one of the Batman movies, I believe it was Hush, was that anytime Batman gets so badly injured he needs to be hospitalized Bruce Wayne gets into some accident. Usually a car accident. And it’s funny imo Cus when Batman is in the bat cave Alfred says to, I believe it was Nightwing, “Oh dear, possible brain damage, master Wayne needs to be hospitalized.” And Nightwing says “Got it, I’ll wreak the car. How does 80 sound?” And Alfred says “Let’s do 85 just to be safe.” Like… how often have they done this?
I remember this moment too, it was really funny.
Just the logistics of this is making me laugh way too much

I never played the Arkham games nor the comics and I'll admit Jason had it worst, getting physically and psychology tourchered over a year is Fucked, it's comparable to Tim, but I still say getting waterboarded, electrocuted and drugged is on a whole different level.

I agree. A lot of the other injuries are instant and more often than not get reversed in some way. Jason just gets literally tortured by joker whenever he’s bored which is just horrific to even imagine. He’s also like a kid when it happens to him so that doesn’t really make it any better lol.
The animated series and even the joker returns don’t show how horrible the joker is and the things that he did to the bat family.

Fun fact: the barbed wire around Jason’s chest in the Arkham game can be seen in the Arkham knights more slouched posture when he walks in the game. This shows the level of detail rocksteady went into to create depth, and how the years of torture can still be seen in the Arkham knight, showing that he could never fully recover from the joker

Barbara getting shot by the Joker was the most shocking thing that happened because no one was expecting it and she had to be in a wheelchair for quite a while until her body healed itself.

There was the one time that Nightwing got shot through the head during Tom King's Batman run. He survived, but became known as "Rick" during that time, becoming a worse written character in his own comic because of that decision.

Anyone with a passing knowledge of Batman and the Batfamily could have made this list.
Jason probably has the worst and most scariest story from the DC universe. It's cruel to see how he was Tortured and being manipulated into thinking that batman replaced him and left him to die. Giving him the feeling that no one cares about him since he was the black sheep of the batfamily. He was completely misunderstood about his agression and urge to kill the joker. It's heartbreaking and he deserves so much better after what he was put through.
Nightwing was raped twice. ;P Jason has a very rough origin story tho, I'll give you that.
2:36 what about when the Batman Who Laughs literally tortured Alfred over the span of several years? He forced him to become his servant again after crushing Alfred's rebel army and Alfred ended up developing Stockholm syndrome and was convinced that nothing had changed at all.

i'd say another worst injury for alfred was in Arkham origin, where bane blows up (most) of the bat cave, almost killing him, thought he was still alive but if it wasnt for Batman then alfred would've died there

@@NeedleMouseProductions I would say that it's difficult to say what is worse, as living with mental issues could change your life drastically, physical pain could do the same. It's not easy to say, and I'm not 100% sure what is worse.
Personally my favorite is Jason Todd’s Arkham torture because I knew Jason Todd was tortured in the Arkham games but not in the level of this and it also once again shows how crazy the joker is. But still to this day I still love Under the Red Hood.

No, that, that scene with Jason being beaten up by all of Batman's enemies, in the Arkhamverse, that's IMPOSSIBLE, there is no way Batman wouldn't find out about that. ONE of them would say something, one of them would get carried away and taunt him, like Penguin would let it slip, or Killer Croc would. That's nonsense. The whole thing works only because so few people knew. Like, Zsasz, he would definitely tell because he loves to talk about all his exploits, he would totally let it slip lol.

I hated that Barbra storyline. Glad it isn't canon. The Bruce and Barbra thing is one of the dumbest things in that universe.
I would say for Damian the worst injury he survived was his fight against Deathstroke. His arms are literally pinned to a wall with a sword and a knife and he just pulls his arm right through the sword so he had a free hand to remove the other. Though lets be real that only works in animation or if they did it in a comic book, if they had done it in live-action it would have been harder to not believe that he not only would bleed out from doing so, but he's even able to keep fighting in the movie. It's not like he has that Iron Man tech in his suit where he has this sort of freezing nanotech that can close and heal wounds.
The face burn was pretty bad but the reason I don't count it or the omega beam is that Raven heals him completely and he would for sure have not survived the omega beam on his own. Constantine even dies in the same movie and is resurrected so even if he wasn't dead right then and there, even though a human being hit like that would usually just die right away or even turn to ash. Although technically in that movie most of the justice league and titans end up being so badly injured, both physically and mentally, with the lucky ones being dead that Flash reboots the entire universe, so he didn't survive for long anyway given the new timeline has no Bat-family members at all.
The worst is probably Jason, he just got broken in every which way possible for such a long time.
In the movie justice league dark apokolysp war, Damien did die. Raven brought him back to life. If you payed attention there was a line about asking that they were not supposed to revive dead people and raven said something like “I had to try” which was a reference to Damien using the larzarus pit to revive nightwing

I definitely wouldn't say that Damian's worst injury is blue beetle's blast to his face. I think his worst one so far, is the one where Flamingo shot him multiple times in the back and he was left paralyzed from below the neck. He also had his whole spine replaced by a metal one, which later on Deathstroke and Talia hacked into to control Damian's body into killing Dick Grayson. This was in Batman and Robin 2009
Don’t forget the time Nobody tortured Damian by breaking every bone from his fingers and forcing Batman to hear them break, using his sonic sound to hurt Damian’s ears, then tried to use the same sonic waves to combust his lungs and heart. Damian was so badly injured that he had to be carried home on Bruce’s back.

Gonna add my own sthephine brown was beaten and tortured by goons and damn near died from it. Duke was forced to watch his only family be jokerized possibly forever, and watches as they try and kill him. Terry was forced to fight an older damian Wayne while his new batsuit ate away at his body and health.

No surprise that 4 of the 5 were caused by the Joker, he's always tried to kill the sidekicks because he wants Batman all to himself and sees them as distractions and nuisances

2:57 I’ve always been of the belief that endless and unforgivingly brutal torture is the true worst fate, not death, mostly because while death can break a person physically, death is usually quick and painful only in a split second. Torture is endless, and painful. It can change who u r, what u believe, and sometimes, it can even make u desire death, and when u start 2 desire death, u more something’s gone horribly wrong. This story proves that in spades
Fun fact: It’s now been made canon the bat family just have their own bingo or headcount for their worst injuries or the amount of time deaths everyone had so far since starting the superhero business.
I find it funny how most of these entirely the fault of the Joker. To think that when it comes to a family of people famous for not having powers but standing amongst God's regardless, it's pretty fitting that the greatest pain most of them have ever suffered was from somebody who also lacks any powers.
My heart goes out to Arkham Jason though, he had it worst by far, only followed up by Tim's psychological torture. I do find it funny how relatively tame Alfred's one is though, everybody else out here getting paralysed, traumatised, tortured constantly, and literally dying, and Alfred just loses a hand. Definitely sucks for him but considering how hard writers go on the Bat family Alfred got off pretty easy

I don’t remember which version of the comics this was in but after introducing Damian to Batman, they got involved in Gotham shenanigans. Talia took Damian away before Bruce found out and had to have half of his organs replaced by illegal transplants. He also had his spine destroyed and a cybernetic one implanted which then got hacked and he almost killed Dick (Batman and robin where Dick is Batman)

Jason's and Tim's was definitely the worst. Cause all of the Bat-Family recovered and moved on or they were healed or retconed. But you can't get rid of mental scars I mean Tim literally became The fucking Joker, the most evil person in DC history and Jason was constantly tortured for a Year and a half.

Man as a kid watching the animated series you don’t realize how messed up literally every character is in the bat family and their villains. Even with the joker they don’t show anywhere NEAR how messed up he is and the terrible things he did.

The Jason Todd story has somewhat of a happy ending with Jason still doing good but the tim drake joker ending is so sad. Because it lasted with him forever and turned him into the joker in the end. The blessing is terry mcguinnes saved Gotham but without him Gotham would be fucked

I didn't think Arkham universe or batman beyond was very mainstream, more like somewhat popular sideworlds that didnt really work out. I would love to see this same question applied to more the mainstream comics. Like Jason's Death, Barbara getting shot in the spine, Bruce's back breaking, Tim losing his spleen, and Dick getting shot in the head and the murder machine.

One of my favorite injuries that Barbara had that she may or may not have survived (I'm not sure) was when scarecrow threw/hit her off a building and what makes it even worse is when scarecrow laughs when he sees Jim holding Barbra and keep in mind he was laughing infront of batman and robin. This just proves scarecrow is a truly sadistic villain

I can't say it's my favorite since all of them going through such a brutal and painful experience, but i can say that Jason has the most painful torture of all the bat families, sure barbara gordon end up in a wheelchair, but Jason going through such a torture for over a year and in some version end up dead.

I think one of the worst injuries emotionally and physically for Dick would also be Batman beating him into going undercover to Spyral after Luthor murdered him. Like, his murder obvi messed with his mind already and then the shit Bruce demanded, combined with the beating... it defenitly left one heck of a mental scar. And a few physical ones too.

Imo, Damian's worst injury was in the comics. When Bruce was trapped in time and Dick was filling in as Batman, he and Damian fought this villain called Flamingo. During the fight, Damian was shot several times in the back and paralyzed. Talia took Damian and surgically replaced his entire spine. Definitely worst injury for our favorite Bat Brat.

Jason”s is 100% worse as his injuries lasted an entire year as he is beaten up by calendar man and his fellows supervillains and only escaped due to final battle between Batman and joker on live tv on Arkham asylum. Plus he had a grudge against Batman due to him not even thinking of searching all of Arkham asylum to save him as it is the first place anyone would look if someone important is kidnapped.

One thing I don't understand about the arkham knight is that he inlisted the help of scarecrow when forming his plan, despite the fact that crane was in the group of villains that the joker told to torture him.
I think one of Damian's worst injuries is where he was fighting Slade and he stuck a sword through his arm
IIRC in the original drafts of death in the family, it’s outright stated that Joker r@ped Jason, but the publishers wouldn’t allow them to put that in, so they had to cut it. I think Starlin said somewhere that as far as he’s concerned, it did happen that way, he just wasn’t allowed to include it.

Well since both the Barbara and Dick ones were retconned and Jason's happened in the Arkham universe I guess the Damian getting hit with the Plasma blast is my 'favorite'. As for other injuries that could make the list, Stephanie Brown being tortured by Black Mask. If going with a pure psychological I'd point out Cassandra Cain being mind-controlled by Deathstroke and being forced to kill her 'siblings' frame Tim for murder, lead the League of Shadows, force her to kill people over and over again despite hating the idea of killing even more than Batman.

There's so little to know of *Batwoman* at all so far though, she had her moments but she's never a highlight, the animated series gets suddenly cutoff on movie by identity reveal on the same debut. In Injustice she died a brutal incineration by Superman's hear vision on the Injustice Insurgency's dimension against the Regime to detonate some device, knowing she was not going survive, Batgirl was almost taken out in this very act. Batwoman does have some serious fights, faceoffs and such. Doesn't get as deep as of to be inside the batcave on Bruce's trust or get too much direct interaction with them as far as to be... recognized or remembered.
The other 3 female Robins from different times and series, had a decent amount of damage at some point. Most male Robins tend to get maximum amount of psychological torture and even Nightwing...

There was a flashback in a “Young Justice: Phantoms” episode regarding Barbara, Joker and Cassandra. The former Shadow meant to behead the Clown Prince of Crime but Batgirl took the hit upon her mid back instead. Needless to say, Barbara survived but could not continue as Batgirl and trusted Cassandra to do anything Bargirl-worthy as “Orphan” whilst she gave herself the guise of “Oracle”.
If you're implying that what happened to Babs was worse then what generally happened to her (just getting shot directly from Joker) then I think I understand. If you're shot to the spine but the bullet stopped at the spine then it technically means that the spine is still intact (kinda) so there's a better chance of regaining mobility in the waist region, however if your spine is completely slashed, then it's disconnected so there's a less chance of healing. Still both scenarios are still quite a tragedy. But if not then would you care to explain to me what you're trying to say here?

Hey I have a question. Do you think superheroes with healing factors would still have mental illnesses such as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia and also illnesses such as ADHD, autism ect. Or is a healing factor strictly physical??
I reckon healing factor just physical
Lets take Deadpool for example. My man has severe mental illness even though he has a healing factor.
Well...i think if you wanna take some examples, i can recommend you to see Deadpool or wolverine stories, i think both are the perfect example

Well conditions like Depression, Anxiety and Schizophrenia don’t have physical manifestations and they don’t cause manifest themselfa physically ( and by that I mean the conditions itself like you can’t see depression on a brain scan) so probably not
Im very happy that beyond was ritconned, god idk why the writters went crazy on that universe but they really did.
