this is the point where Batman was actually horribly wrong and Jason was actually right about killing the Joker. it just proved that Batman is actually a glorified mentally ill person that has a man crush with The Joker. knowing that killing Joker will not make him The Batman anymore since he will lose his perfect counterpart or being an absolute mentally ill person that he is. he could've easily kill The Joker to stop all of the crimes in Gotham and to permanently strike the heart of the criminal with a permanent fear but he let him live to murder people and to torture people like what he have done to Jason.
The problem with Batman's ideals is that it costs a lot of people their lives and brings suffering and pain. People forget that Batman is still a law breaking vigilante, he dresses up in a bat suit and beats up criminals, which is awesome. The non killing thing is his preference, totally understandable. @@controlman7490 Yes, he devoted *his* life - never anyone else's. Quote from Gotham Knight after a bullet shield he used almost killed a criminal: "I'm willing to put my life on the line to do what I have to. But it has to be mine - no one else's". Now, obviously this quote doesn't fare well for his sidekick children, but that's a different topic. He's not allowing anything. He's doing all he can within his code to put these people away. He's already patching the failures of the corrupt system by rounding them up as a vigilante. He has no obligation to be an illegal executioner for the state as well.
Batman’s no kill rule is a good thing, what I don’t understand though is how each time the joker has been locked up, why do they instantly throw him in the asylum? There was no treating him. They should’ve instantly given him the death sentence therefore he’s gone and Batman doesn’t have to break his code
The fact that The Joker tortured Batman’s sidekick (an orphaned child) and did more evil stuff to him and Batman still wouldn't break the no kill rule makes me wonder if Bruce even cares about his robins or anyone else that helps him for that matter.
The reason Batman still refused to it's because Batman is a psychopath not joker level but near enough he'd go out dressed as a bat and beat the shit out of criminals if batman were to just shoot the joker he knows he would be the same as him a murderer if a man kills a killer the number of killers stays the same if Batman killed the joker the joker would win as his main goal is to prove everybody is breaks even the Batman and then if the Batman kills he knows that he could never stop himself from doing it again effectively making the joker always apart of Batman if he ever killed
Clearly he cares about them but jokers ultimate end goal is to break the bat. He wants, actually he NEEDS, to make Batman lose. The second Batman decides to lose control or finally kill the joker, he loses the fight and becomes the criminal he fights on a daily basis. How can he possibly call himself right for putting a murderer behind bars if he becomes a murderer himself. Batman would not be Batman if he killed his adversaries

This Jason: "Why didn't you save me!? Who cares if you killed the Joker!" *Actual* Jason: "Bruce, I forgive you for not saving me. But why... why on God's Earth is HE [Joker] still alive!?"
Arkahmverse Jason had it even worse than Canon Jason. I mean, it's no picnic getting beaten with a crowbar and then blown up. But dollars to donuts that anyone would choose that over a year of torture.
@@Aivottaja You'd think if anyone could survive that, it would be a member of the Batfamily. Especially Jason. He's regarded as being the toughest in the family, besides maybe Cassandra (the 2nd Batgirl).
Not a lot of people know this much about what Jason Todd went through. They don't give him enough credit and I hope Joker is sent to the worst place in hell there is
What did Peacemaker say? Plus Joker sent a video of Jason's "death" point blank from gun fire. Joker is a skilled manipulator as he made Harley Quinn who she is today and tricked Batman into believing that Clayface is The Real Joker.
Guy saw a video of Jason's face getting blown by a 72mm gun in a point blank range. Man if someone sent me a video of my dog getting shot at a point blank range I would like to think my dog's dead
No it is not…… injustice proves what happens when you go down that path and Bruce himself has said that’s why he doesn’t cause he wouldn’t be able to come back from that place
@Cobra Kai I don't think that Jay Jay will be killing anyone with real bullets. In the trailer he is using guns, yes, but he might be using rubber bullets. If that is the case, I like to think that it's to honor the moral code that Bruce trained him with.
The fact that Jason was tortured over the span of two years and during AA batman just missed Jason as seen in the video. Jason even shouting out for his mom is just disturbing and outright traumatizing to hear thank god theres no footage of that. I lost some/half of respect for joker for cutting kids up and sewing them and making harley torture Jason in a horrible way is disturbing to read. Jasons torture story is nothing but disturbing and traumatizing to hear and see. Batman knowing this and not killed Joker despite his morals of never kill anyone is still surprising. This story is one of the scariest and best.
Yeah you should watch Batman redhood it's an animated movie where the joker actually killed Jason via explosion after beating him with a crowbar Batman was there and tried to save him. He then went on to break every bone in the joker's body putting him in a full body cast Jason went on to murder numerous villains and the ending was still sad
The difference between Batman and Jason. . . is that while Bruce never truly knew what it feels like to ACTUALLY SURVIVE, Jason had nothing but his wits while growing up in the slums of Gotham. This actually reminds me of something from Metal Gear Rising Revengeance: "Suffering? What do you know of suffering? You never had to go hungry. To steal and kill, just to survive!" "But you did survive! With your own will, you took your own life back into your own hands." "And now, I'm going to take yours."
There's a moment in"The three Jokers" where bat girl and the red hood have Joker tied up waiting for batman to come. (In this comic there are 3 Jokers and we don't know which is the real one or if their clones or whatever.) Joker taunts Jason saying that he never cared about him. The only reason Joker did those things was his own sick way of trying to hurt batman. He only wanted to torture batman through Jason, knowing full well batman wouldn't kill him. Jason grows furious as Barbra (batgirl) tries to calm him. Joker concludes his statement by saying, *It was never about you.* Just then Jason snaps and shoots him directly in the head just feet away from him. There were still two Jokers, and there have been other Joker deaths, but this, this is my favorite.
Man, I never read the comics but my heart is breaking for Jason. When I played Arkham vr, I had no idea that was Jason screaming....I can't imagine being tortured...
just imagine how much guilt and hatred he had for himself after getting captured because he decided to get to the joker by himself. just imagine how that would feel. thinking about what jason went through gives me goosebumps

This was a great video, it answer some questions that I had about Jason Todd and "this". But one question remains, what's cannon? A:Jason gets kidnapped by the joker beat with a crowbar and blown up or B:tortured and becomes red hodd.
Comic version, and original version is kidnapped, beaten with a crowbar, and blown up. In A death in the family issue #428 published in October 1988. That's 100 percent canon. Interesting fact; when Joker had Jason, DC put a poll out and let the fans decide Robin's fate. It was DC batman fans that killed off Robin lol.
@@DoggyZworlD07 Eh, I think it depends on preference. I like the Arkham one better. I think the whole resurrection thing is dumb. This makes more sense to me. But like I said, depends on the person
This is the best video I've seen describing what happened to poor Jason but also where did you get those comic panels from I really want to read it for myself
In my opinion, of the many different versions of Jason todd's backstory, the arkham version has to be the darkest and most spine-chilling. Hearing jasons screams in what seems like a crowd of people cheering in a cell is extremely terrifying. Knowing this, i definitely now look at batman differently, his dectective skills are undeniably great and are considered to be the best in the DC universe, but one thing that people forget is that Jason todd was meant to be his greatest failure. Think about it, Dick grayson(aka nightwing or the First robin) is widely known as batmans' greatest success, especially since a key difference between him and Jason are the opposite colours: Red vs blue. My point is that jason was meant to be his greatest failure, and quite any of yall were in batmans position, would u find jason? Considereing that you're dealing with SEVERAL criminal masterminds that are all wreaking havoc across an entire city, and you're having to try to find your sidekick who's presumed dead? Even though batman is a great fighter and detegtive, we can't ignore that he is just a human in a high-tech bat costume, so he would inevitably make a mistake. This is not to say that he is blameless because it is primarily his fault for not finding Jason and essentially leaving a mentally scarred teenager in the hands of a criminal menance(which obviously led to the insane torture) Overall, i personally am not going to ENTIRELY excuse Batman for not finding jason, because at the end of the day, its literally the equivalent of finding needle in a haystack. BUT one thing is for sure, i really wish that Joker got more than just being burned to death since he tortured not only Jason but all those innocent citizens who fell victim to his schemes. But honestly, if i was jason todd, i would capture the Joker, and let's just say i would be getting my getback for over a decade....and as for batman, i would confront him and tell him to retire.
And Batman is still soooo many people’s fave hero? Even Superman knew when to kill for the greater good or at least sent the very worst to the phantom zone. But Batman, Mr. Contingency, Mr. Prep-Time, couldn’t figure out how to permanently capture, paralyze, and keep Joker in a dark corner of the Batcave? 🤦🏾♂️ I get it. “It’s just a comic, bro.” But if you’re gonna love and idolize a hero, it needs to be one who does whatever it takes to preserve life, at least in my opinion.
I think you dont completely get why the batman kills no one. Look a video about it. Yes i do sometimes think he should kill the Joker, for this reason for exaple. But his ethics deny to kill anyone.
When u will Think about the death of joker being """"sad""" just see this video to change idea, i am amazed by the hardwork u surely put to assemble togheter all those pieces, especially to find a lot of stuff about Jason in the first game!!! I never excepted that
Just a reminder how Jason Todd really died was to a fan vote.... As a jtodd fan I take no slander to blaming Bruce. It's the contrast of the ideology of red hood and Batman which really makes their relationship unique and one of the best in all of superhero comics.
Arkham Jason Todd is separate to DC Canon Jason Todd. Arkham Jason didn't die to a vote, he died to a developer creative decision. Comic Jason did die to a fan vote though.
@@K4Kezza I'm pretty sure that all the Batman origin stories of Jason are based of from the idea he died. Which originated from the vote. Its the same for Batman whos parents die or faces a predicament which causes him to change
During the events of arkham asylum, jason was already in infinity island training to become the Arkham knight with deathsroke and also gaining the militias support to plan the invasion of gotham a two years later. Asylum between city is like 8 months in between and knight is a whole year after city so theres enough time for all of this to occur.
If you pay close attention you can actually see Jason Drew a Batman with a sad face meaning that Jason understood that Batman thought that he was dead until joker brainwashed him 3:02
A lot of this I can get behind, but I'm not sure how Jason would've scribbled on the wall in that section of the Asylum when he was in an "Abandoned wing of Arkham for over a year" which also implies he was never moved, because it wasn't necessary. If he did escape/was released the night Asylum happened, why scribble on the walls? He would have to hate Bruce at this point, so leaving clues would be ooc.
Also Jason was definitely not shot in such a public area. It's obviously just a reused asset. Again, he was kept in an abandoned wing of Arkham. That room is in the middle of the med center. It makes no sense for him to be there.
The first part of your paragraph it’s because the Joker actually did move him around throughout the year sometimes just like how he moved him around during Arkham Asylum he did this to drive him more mad and insane. However the last part when you say it was probably just a section that was used again I would honestly agree with bc there is photo proof in the arkham genesis comics that it was taken in a basement/ dungeon but I thought it was just cool to show tbh!
@@dibbage I respect that. I was unaware or the amount of moving, I'll have to rake a look at that. In the future I'd add a note saying it could be a reused asset, or in other theory/breakdown videos (I do hope you keep at it, you clearly have a lot of passion and it was a good video) bring up potential holes in the evidence. Bringing up potential flaws in your "argument" lends them, and you, more credibility. I appreciate the response, and I really did enjoy the video.
"jokers dead, jason, you want revenge on the man who hurt you? you've got one shot, come back to the manor, let us help you, dont let joker win" meanwhile batman: "do you want to know somthing funny? even after everything you've done....i would've saved you"
Interesting to think that Batman is the worlds greatest detective even though he couldn’t even find Jason. I feel like that means something, though Batman wanted Jason alive and well I feel that a part of him believed the video because he was to scared to see what he would find, to see what The Joker had done to Jason. Also with the replacing part, I know a lot of people have different opinions on this but this is what I think: In the comic where Jason had died it shows that at first Batman did not want to replace Jason but then decided (because of Tim persuading him) that Batman will always need a Robin to keep things in order, Robin helps Batman to be able to get through things that Batman wouldn’t be able to do alone. But I do still agree that Batman could have searched harder, I do understand that seeing Jason’s death was very believable because, well, he died in the video but he’s the worlds greatest detective, would’ve expected more. Will always still love The Joker but this was definitely very disturbing, you get to see the darkest parts of The Joker here and what’s interesting to think is that this isn’t even the worst The Joker has done and I’m guessing that there will be worse things to come but hey, we love to hate The Joker, he’s an amazing character with so many interesting and fascinating stories. Absolutely amazing video, though this was a year ago I still am fascinated by this story, very well done.
Jason didin't knew that Joker made Batman think he's actually dead. Joker made Jason think that Batman doesn't care about him anymore and he abandoned him in the Asylum - The real reason why Batman wasn't looking for Jason anymore is because he thought he is dead...But Jason didin't knew that - He believed in words that Joker said to him. Also- 8:12 This is the place where the torturing happened but it's not the same place that Jason got shot - He actually got shot in the room you were visiting before (The room from 5:52)
Hi I loved your video! Really appreciate the effort and dedication you put into creating great content. Quick question. What comic issues did you use in this video? I’ve been wanting to try to start a Arkham comic collection.
I just don't understand one thing. So DC confirmed that arkham knight and Genesis takes place on the same universe. In the game jason was torture in a wheelchair but in the comic he was tortured in a regular chair. In the comic issue 3, when jason remembers the lines when joker first shot him, for one page, it showed that it was in the same place where we see jason get shot in arkham vr, but later on it shows a different location. Also in the game it shows that Batman first met him when jason was stealing the wheels of the Batmobile. But in the comic it stated that jason saved Batman from the joker wearing a mech suit. How is that?
maybe arkham vr and arkham knight memories are just the view of batman in jason's death, after all, he didnt see the room where jason was t0rtur3d in the first place, that would explain rocksteady use the asset flip room for arkham vr
@@leonardowynnwidodo9704 Apologies for getting a late response. You may know by now, but Batman Arkham VR takes place a few months before the events of Arkham Knight, I believe. But I know for a fact that VR is a prequel to Arkham Knight, hence why Joker's blood is starting to take its effect on Batman in the VR game, even if most of it is just a dream.

Batman’s no kill rule is a good thing, what I don’t understand though is how each time the joker has been locked up, why do they instantly throw him in the asylum? There was no treating him. They should’ve instantly given him the death sentence therefore he’s gone and Batman doesn’t have to break his code
THATS WHAT I SAID LIKE DAMN-
Nah batman soft ass should’ve grew some balls and killed him its tht simple no other way around it
EXACTLY
The joker can be gone of I don’t know being sent to a different prison
The gods(DC comics) demand that the story continues ever onwards
I just had a seizure reading that but yuh I understand what you’re saying
Clearly he cares about them but jokers ultimate end goal is to break the bat. He wants, actually he NEEDS, to make Batman lose. The second Batman decides to lose control or finally kill the joker, he loses the fight and becomes the criminal he fights on a daily basis. How can he possibly call himself right for putting a murderer behind bars if he becomes a murderer himself. Batman would not be Batman if he killed his adversaries
Umm… hear me out. They are both psychotic.

This Jason: "Why didn't you save me!? Who cares if you killed the Joker!"
*Actual* Jason: "Bruce, I forgive you for not saving me. But why... why on God's Earth is HE [Joker] still alive!?"

The difference between Batman and Jason. . . is that while Bruce never truly knew what it feels like to ACTUALLY SURVIVE, Jason had nothing but his wits while growing up in the slums of Gotham.
This actually reminds me of something from Metal Gear Rising Revengeance:
"Suffering? What do you know of suffering? You never had to go hungry. To steal and kill, just to survive!"
"But you did survive! With your own will, you took your own life back into your own hands."
"And now, I'm going to take yours."
Joker concludes his statement by saying,
*It was never about you.*
Just then Jason snaps and shoots him directly in the head just feet away from him. There were still two Jokers, and there have been other Joker deaths, but this, this is my favorite.
I can't believe how long the Arkham games have been out and I am still peeling back layers like these.
Man, I never read the comics but my heart is breaking for Jason. When I played Arkham vr, I had no idea that was Jason screaming....I can't imagine being tortured...

Different cannons

Thanks so much for putting this all together!
This video made me cry man:(.
You can stilll tell he’s traumatized after all he went throughout
Due in part to Troy Baker’s kickass voice acting. He does such a good job characters like this.
“It’s just a comic, bro.” But if you’re gonna love and idolize a hero, it needs to be one who does whatever it takes to preserve life, at least in my opinion.
i mean batman basically did kill the joker in this verse so stfu
It's just a comic book bro

Arkham Jason Todd is separate to DC Canon Jason Todd.
Arkham Jason didn't die to a vote, he died to a developer creative decision.
Comic Jason did die to a fan vote though.
@@K4Kezza I'm pretty sure that all the Batman origin stories of Jason are based of from the idea he died. Which originated from the vote. Its the same for Batman whos parents die or faces a predicament which causes him to change
That fan vote was just for publicity, no matter the outcome he would've been the same lol.
During the events of arkham asylum, jason was already in infinity island training to become the Arkham knight with deathsroke and also gaining the militias support to plan the invasion of gotham a two years later. great video, i subbed..i cant play Arkham Asylum anymore know this is what was happening to Jason
THAT VOICE ACTOR IS PERFECT
"jokers dead, jason, you want revenge on the man who hurt you? you've got one shot, come back to the manor, let us help you, dont let joker win"

14:20 That line just breaks me down so hard
You know you have done something real f**ked up when even Harley Quinn felt bad for Jason
Idk why but the thing about his hunched posture hit hard..
