  • I asked Koreans in Seoul the reason why they don’t often ask “How are you?” in Korean (typically 어떻게 지내세요?, or 잘 지내세요?), and instead prefer to ask “Have you eaten?” (typically 식사하셨어요? or 밥 먹었어요?). I thought everyone would give the same answer, but was surprised by the variety of different responses.
