It’s so interesting to think about what people perceive as normal or not. Because in America my current semester tuition at a public university is almost $10,000 with scholarships so 5,000 to me is quite cheap but compared to the girl from France I see how it can be different. In America things tend to vary independently by state almost. So sometimes things are accessible while in other places they aren’t

So while I am very lucky to learn about South Korea in ways that many expats do not get to I have never met a foreigner while visiting South Korea. It was nice to listen to some foreign perspectives about the country. I could really relate to what they were saying.
In France and in Paris I did receive help when I needed it I was surprised bc there still is great people everywhere Dating culture is also different in every country The video is very nice TY
To the girl who said that old people saying hello is rude, then I think Asia is not for you 😂 Wait until you go to Indonesia where they will ask for your age, marital status, where you been and where you're going, have you showered today, etc! 🤭 I know that different country has different culture, but when you're visiting a new place, I think you should be the one who should try to understand and adapt to it, not the other way around.
Exactly! And they were just saying hello. And she was judging them for their pronunciation. It sounded funny to her so they were making fun of her. Too self centered to realise that probably the English of older people is just not that good - which is normal for a lot of non English speaking countries.
If somebody gets in your face … maybe not. I think she’s talking about people invading her private space when she’s on her way somewhere. Other girls have talked about Korean old ladies touching their hair and picking lent off their sweaters without introducing themselves. This is something that young Koreans also do not like.
I think the US has a higher average salary than Korea, so it will be cheap for you in Korea. It will be as expensive for a local resident as it is for you to study in the US. For Ukraine, where I live, the average salary is 500 dollars per month, and paid tuition at a university is about 1,000-1,600 dollars per year (for Ukrainians who pass state exams well, there are grants from the state), for foreigners, paid tuition is somewhat more expensive, but not much. Before the war, many students from India, African countries, and the Middle East came to us and chose technical and medical universities.
I liked the video a lot. I loved the exchange student from the football team, his opinions were well-thought-out and were presented in a well structured manner. However i don't know what the girl meant about dating multiple people at the same time, it's certainly not a standard in Europe so i would like to clear it up. And with the couples, like another comment here says, i think it's couples being matchy or stuff like that in Korea, they didn't mean some obscenity or god knows what
I've been led to believe that Koreans don't hold open a door for you, talk to stranger's & look down on foreigners etc. That's by people who live in Korea. Didn't seem that way after watching this p.s it's a Country I'd love to visit & have for a long time. 🇬🇧🇬🇧
I’ve lived in SK for 5 years. It’s true that pple don’t hold doors, talk to strangers causally, or say thanks you or sorry very much. Edit: They do look down on foreigners but also up. The media here has been educating people in wacky ways so that fetishizing foreigners and stereotyping is very normal.
I lived in Korea for a bit, so in broad strokes there are two types of 'foreigners' those that integrate (learn the language, try to meet friends, not fck buddies) then there are those who lived in Korea for many years but can't even speak the language except for a few phrases. I found out the latter likes to complain, blame things on racism etc. Overall pretty chill country, not perfect but better than most i've been to.
They're nice to you if you are white .. if you are Indian or black, it's a different story....they don't even allow you to enter nightclubs..they literally have huge signboards outside clubs saying "No Indians allowed"

I’m British. No idea what she’s talking about at 5:33 maybe she worded it wrong? Or it’s not the whole of Europe and just her country but in wales and England. that would be considered cheating if you were dating. Unless they both decided to have a open relationship but that is extremely rare.
No she means that typically you would date someone a few times and get to know them before becoming "exclusive" and "in a relationship." But it's very different in Korea because there is no "dating" phase. You become exclusive bf/gf first and then get to know each other. Thats why you can hear people saying here that there are so many couples in Korea... and generally relationships don't last long just because to them a "relationship" isn't necessarily deciding to commit long term but deciding they like each other and want to go on a few dates and see what's up

I used to be on Japanese based church here in Portugal and things were different to what we Westerners are used to . I remember we had Ikebana classes and we’re told to place a little towel under the scissors so that you won’t disturb the person next to you with the noise. And we learned ( At least few of us. i said few of us because things took a bad turn) to value even the little things in life . Besides, i can't have vaccines when I was a baby , my doctor advised my mother to not let them vaccinate me due to my medical histoy. so when i was 14, my mom spoke of a trip to Japan and that people that wore face masks. so starting wearing it. and since then it's been my only protection. of course because of that i faced prejudice here in the West. Well, it’s 2022 now and nobody is laughing now well, few still do but most don’t laugh anymore at me. Anyway, we Westerners need to learn from Asians. i only mentioned japan because i was talking about my own experience and at the time, i didn’t know anything about Korea. . So please don’t come at me. . I think maybe South Korea would be more accepting of foreigners if some ( if not all) would do a research on Korean culture and try to understand it before going to Korea . i’m not trying to trigger anyone. i’m just saying it so that the shock would be less…. shocking , if you understand what I mean.
You seem to sound very arrogant to me ( Westerners should learn from “ Asians” ) :( well Japan and South Korea are more advanced and richer than Portugal :) thanks :)
Not for wearing masks. I do believe in getting the immunity healthy. Because that’s what fights off infection. Also people need to have manners how cough, sneeze, yawn without spreading their germs. Masks hides the face and I rather see it.
Well, anytime I watched in your channel and I like more more information because I like to come one day in south Korean Sounds great thanks again, sir keep going and good luck.😊

As a Korean born and raised in France and still not seen as apart of the French because I am not European (and I am completely okay with that) I don't understand why foreigners go to Korea and expect to be accepted into korean life just because they live there? You're not Korean
I agree the acceptance that foreigners seek from Korea is naive. It's a mix of self entitlement for some. Those people believe that they should automatically be accepted because they either live or vist there and the Korean people should be grateful. Then there's people who just want a genuine connection with the people but fail to understand that it's not impossible but if you dont speak the language and understand the culture norms you cant expect much out of it.
And why do you live and grew Up in france if you dont hace french blood, its seems to me that you are Hypocrite, when you say that foreigners cannot live in france, but koreans if they can live in another country, what a hypocrite of you
I am a Jamaican living in Germany and I must and do accept the fact that I am seen as a foreigner. I think it is stupid for the Europeans to want that which isn't true for even themselves. It's diffrent in Jamaica because of the size of the island and the fact that the island was shared with two different race and culture before it was colonised first by the Spanish the the English. The English had brought people of different races and culture and all placed them there and some how they accepted the fact it is better to get along than to fight. They inter-married and shared their cultures over hundreds of years. And even though the greater numbers are of African desendance they themselves were from different countries in Africa spoke different languages and had different appearance. They had one thing in common and that is they will not be enslaved to the British. The others that weren't from Africa also shared this opinion but the Africans were the ones who fought because they were treated poorly. This common goal united the cultures and this is true " should you ever visit Jamaica no one would look twice ". It's more likely they would think you're Chinese because we have a lot of Chinese living there. First when you speak and the accent is out you will be welcomed. Everywhere you have nice and not so nice people, I think it's the same in Korea or anywhere else.
@@celianeher7637 Why Chinese? No European in your country should be looked as a Chinese because racially and even visually Chinese and Europeans look different totally. You Jamaicans should understand this.
You ARE European if you're: born there; and have a citizenship. Not being seen as French is pure unadulterated racism. Regarding Korea, just because you're a foreigner doesn't mean discrimination or second class citizenship is okay, such as not getting into certain clubs, foreigner prices, etc
Healthy competition is good but I do not like the way Korean society works. Not all people or students have same mental & physical capacity to take the pressure of competition. But they contribute to society. But in SK they are considered as failure. No society can be 100% competitive. God does not create humans to study, work, etc. at 100% capacity for long hours in a day. In the long run society will collectively fail. Perhaps this may be one reason why suicide rate in Korea is so high. Also school bullying is abnormally high. People always remain busy with themselves, in office, etc. that they have little or no time left for kids. May be that is one of the reason why birth rate is so low. Thus, in the long run, what's the future of Korean society? It may become a society for old people & controlled by young generation who are mostly from foreign origins. Scary situation....
Yeah and they love to take toooooo much attention to how they look ,,,allllllll the time.. wearing Chanel,Prada,Louie Vuitton will boost their status. Here in France usually THE RICHEST PEOPLE ARE THE MOST DISCREET AND SIMPLE PEOPLE .

It was nice to listen to some foreign perspectives about the country. I could really relate to what they were saying.
In France and in Paris I did receive help when I needed it I was surprised bc there still is great people everywhere Dating culture is also different in every country The video is very nice TY
To the girl who said that old people saying hello is rude, then I think Asia is not for you 😂
Wait until you go to Indonesia where they will ask for your age, marital status, where you been and where you're going, have you showered today, etc! 🤭
I know that different country has different culture, but when you're visiting a new place, I think you should be the one who should try to understand and adapt to it, not the other way around.
Agree
Yup, also funny thing is she's the same type of person that would later complain Koreans just keep their distance from you.
Yeah the French aren’t known for their manners
Good morning Jin and I find your videos very informative and I like them. ❤️
5k USD for tuition for one semester? Sounds cheap to me. It’s around that much for one semester at a cheap community college here in the US.
And with the couples, like another comment here says, i think it's couples being matchy or stuff like that in Korea, they didn't mean some obscenity or god knows what
I'm from Europe as well and I was rolling my eyes at the girl too... I thought mutual exclusivity was what most people did while dating here
@@catalincc643 yeah. It was never a thing in Europe to be in open relationships that much, idk where she got it from
I've been led to believe that Koreans don't hold open a door for you, talk to stranger's & look down on foreigners etc. That's by people who live in Korea. Didn't seem that way after watching this
p.s it's a Country I'd love to visit & have for a long time.
The lady who said that nobody help you in Metro,,,,is She really is french???? I am asian and was living in London for 6 years and living in France for 19 years,,, there are still people helping you ,in trains,in metros .I've experienced a lot of help from all french with different origins.

I like how the German guy said everything about Korea in
a very fair and positive way. He is one hundred percent
correct about what he said when it comes to Korea.
Great interview dude~

5:13 How? Culture shock. Is this true? How can Europeans date other people while dating?
as a european i don't think this is true, but it depends on the person
I like natural way your interviews, sounds natural conversation
that brand thing is also very big in Thailand also. i went for 2 days for work and i just wore my oversize university jacket with my jeans and sneaker and i walked into the hotel i was staying and felt so out of place and poor 😂

The people you interviewed have just arrived in Korea. I think it would be more interesting to interview people who have been there longer.
Que horror... aquela mulher dizer que achou estranho um casal de namorados ser exclusivos e que na Alemanha cada um é liberado para estar com outras pessoas ao mesmo tempo...
Aqui no Brasil isso se chama bacanal.
They put high prices in Europe these days. In Italy, it's just getting worse. Everything got too expensive
한국에 왔는데...한국사람이 한국말로 질문한다고 자기를 무시한다고 생각한다?...난감하네...

6€ for a glass of water in Germany is literally a lie. If you're in a noble restaurant, maybe, depends on the hotel/restaurant but not in a normal restaurant or grocery store etc.
And no one is talking about Fiji water ? 🙄
I was also wondering where those 6 euros came from. 😂

Yes 💕🥰 very nice
the emergency charger thing looks rly convenient im surprised its not a worldwide thing
hearing them describe their “expensive” tuition as an American 😭😭😭 plz give me $5000/ semester
Ikr !!!
OMG....! A curly-haired, black-skinned woman from Germany, truly very beautiful, special and exotic, the extraordinary beauty of God's creation.👍👍👍
i want to visit korea😊
Glass of water 6 euro in Germany? Could be maby in some very expensive club. I haven’t seen this yet and I live in Germany 😊
Thats why you can hear people saying here that there are so many couples in Korea... and generally relationships don't last long just because to them a "relationship" isn't necessarily deciding to commit long term but deciding they like each other and want to go on a few dates and see what's up
I love the girls on the thumbnail
best wishes from Bangladesh . you make good videos . and its very interesting i like it .

Water 6 euros.. 😱... Are there no British in Korea..Maybe because we are an Island. We are not in the bulk of Europe so could be the travelling so far away.. We are really laid back and our schools
are short on discipline. There are no strict rules.. We just get on with it.
Another great video..
A bottle costs around 3-3,5 euros in restaurants. 6 Euros maybe for a noble restaurant 😂
La chica Francesa que preciosos acento tiene 💕💕
@5:02 why do they keep referencing Germany? Maybe they lived there for a short time or student Visa.
Tuition is 4 to 5000 I want to study for that much US schools cost more😭.
I never see strangers helping each other in Seoul. I think the girl is experiencing people helping her because she is not Korean. They want you to have a good impression of SK. I think.
westerners always say ohhh were not part of them …. and Have you ever thought asians in your country as a part of your citizens???
No 6€ water in germany in any Restaurant.
oppa u are so handsome ...... i adore u .....u have a great charm and nice smile
There is a lot of couples but no babies…just saying
I wanna visit
I'm living in Portugal right now and I agree, I wish more people wore masks like they do in Korea/ other Asian countries.
Is it ok people with brown skin visit Korea for holiday? If so what place is good?
Cries in $37,000/yr tuition fee at an American university 😂
Cries in £40500/yr tuition fee in the uk💀🫠
but how do you guys pay for it? did you take out a loan?
Why the hell is it so expensive there? Is it the same amount for all universities, or is it just expensive for the top tier ones?

I loved korea.
Alot of old people did stare but it was ok. I loved korea and would love to live there one day.
The thing that bothers me the most is people spitting on the streets very comfortably. This is reallly disrespectful to the other people.
I hate it too
Sadly it's common, I'm a guy & find it disgusting
I'm sorry but "in Europe" you do not date around with different people. Maybe where she comes from but it's not the norm everywhere, not at all.

Regarding Korea, just because you're a foreigner doesn't mean discrimination or second class citizenship is okay, such as not getting into certain clubs, foreigner prices, etc
german guy was so handsome
