I had an E100 given to me by a friend. It is set for a quite a while in the batteries were dead. Put new batteries in it still didn't work. I almost gave up and threw in the trash, then I found out from your video that it has the kickoff requirement. I had no idea! Thank you!

OMG I just bought one at the Goodwill! $24 with no charger. I had an extra one at home.
So I was trying to find out why no one bought it!
Trying to see if anything was loose in wires!
Then I came across your RUclips! Voila!
    Works! I got a steal!
    I love it!
Pretty rough on the asphalt I wish they had a wheel softer for bumps

Because of your video I was able to diagnose my sons scooter. Nothing's worse than unboxing a defective gift xmas morning. Thank you gentlemen for putting a smile back on my sons face. FYI it was a failed brake switch.

I'm saying this in the most masculine way I can. You are my hero bruh! I bought an e175 for my son from the goodwill. the light would come on but nothing. I replaced the batteries and I would get a click but nothing. I was ready to put it on the curb but decided to do one more search and came across your video. I didn't know about the kick start. Thanks! My son will be excited when he sees it

Found your website detailing this troubleshooting, glad I did. I was really thinking the controller had gone out on my son's E100 glow. Tested everything I could without your info. Controller clicked when twisting the grip so that switch must be good right. I was so wrong!
Took the grip apart and found 2 separate switches. One closes as you start to twist, the other at the stop point. I could see the second switch wasn't getting pushed in at all by the grip when twisting. Had to remove it from the handle bars to get it apart to figure out what was causing not to move enough. Once I did get it apart a small piece of plastic fell out. Took a minute to figure out it was a clip to hold cover on. Put it all back together and it works great. The screw in the cover keeps it together pretty good without the clip

Thanks :) I guess the only other thing I can do is check the connections and the batteries.

I wish I would have watched this earlier!! my buddy have me a e100 that he got from the trash. he had it for a while and couldn't get it to work. so he gave it to me... after getting everything setup correctly, I tested everything. starting from the battery to the control, to throttle, etc... all was good up to the the motor connection. I had already tested the motor. it was good. so I jumped to the conclusion that something in the control was bad. short story; I ended up direct wiring from battery to the throttle, straight to the motor (with a inline fuse also in there). it worked! but after watching this... it probably just needed to be push started.
on a side note - the scooter didn't come with battery's but we had 2 12v that work fine. but they are bigger than the housing. so now I have to modify a box to hold them.
very informative video though.... I just wish I seen it earlier.

Hey, thanks for the video and scooter tips. I was at Goodwill the other day, and picked a mint condition A175 scooter for, um, just $3.00 dollars. The switch light would come on, so I knew the batteries had some juice. And it "clicked" as you described in the video. I opened up the top cover and tested the batteries, and they seemed to be full charged. Even the charger I tried, that goes to the Razor Go-Kart my boy owns, showed that it was "charged." But it wouldn't run. Hmmm, what might be the problem? Well, I was not aware that you had to get the wheel moving first, before the motor will engage. Anyways, the scooter works great! Thanks for the advice about the need to kick starting the unit. :)

+peterpulpitpounder I thought I needed a new motor for my son's E90 when he got the chain stuck. Turns out I had forgotten about the kickstart needed before the motor engages.

    • @JavaRatusso
      @JavaRatusso 7 лет назад

peterpulpitpounder a Word of caution if you haven't already discovered it. The Razor wagon Charger may look like the same 24 Scooter charger but I have seen it as being a 12volt charger. So while you successfully got the scooter working by kicking it off, it was because (as you said, fully charged upon purchasing it at Goodwill. As soon as it needed to be charged again, the wagon battery would not do the trick if it was indeed only 12volt. Hope that helps you or somebody else. I bought a used e100 scooter at the flea market and it had a 12v Razor charger with it. I looked the charger up on eBay and it pointed to the wagon. Buying a 24v charger fixed my $15 find.... Your $3 find was an awesome score!

Hi...Thanks for making this video. I did not know about spinning the rear wheel to kick start it until you mentioned it in the video. I connected the battery charger, it clicked, and then I spinned the wheel and it started up. My question is do I charge the batteries using the battery charger with the switch in the on or off position on the scooter? Thanks P.S. I am hoping this charging works because the scooter has not been charged in years. If it does not charge, I will use the multi-meter to see the voltage.

I'm new to electric scooters and a neighbor bought a Razor Metro Electric Scooter on Craigslist but the previous owner lost the charger. Thank you! I own a few multimeters but just use them for basic voltage testing and continuity so your video was easy to follow. The fist charger I ordered was a three pin female plug but it needed to be three pin male. Ordered a second plug / charger but the batteries don't charge. Then I charged them individually to 12.x volts but I just got a clicking - I spun the tire both ways but still got the clicking. I pressed the brake a bunch of times too. Then based on your video I took it out and magically it worked.
Question: I was thinking about ordering new batteries of higher capacity. I have a welder so I could add a side battery box. Any thoughts on this?

I just bought an E125 and an E175 for $6 each at Goodwill. No charger though. Both switches illuminate, but there is no relay action. Do the circuit breakers ever go bad? I bought a scooter from a guy that had never been out of the box but had sat awhile. The batteries would not charge. I had it apart and was trouble shooting it and never could find anything. But, when I put it back together just messing with the breaker it started working. And worked a few months. Now would t charge again.

Hi What is the Charging Voltage for the 2 SLA's in series, I ask this is because the Max charge of an SLA after cycle is 13.8 which makes 27.6V. So do the Chargers that come with the scooter put out a lower voltage (26V) as per your statement of 13V per Battery. So what is the MAximum Voltage this Scooter controller can Handle? Thanks.
