Perfect video. Bought on used for 15$. Previous owner said it wasnt working. I followed the video, tested all the leads. Everything was fine. Like said, all my kid had to do was push it a bit hard and it worked. Lol. Excellent video. Thank you
you all prolly dont care at all but does anyone know of a way to get back into an Instagram account..? I was stupid lost the password. I love any tips you can offer me
@Dash Diego thanks so much for your reply. I found the site through google and Im trying it out atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
Never used a meter before so the way you explained how to use one along side fixing the scooter was fantastic. One fixed scooter, one happy 8 year old, thank you
My guy, definitley earned my like and subscribe. Been a low-voltage technician for 7 years now. Picked up 3 of these for 50 bucks bout to go to town on them and restore. thanks for great video!
Very nice review of component testing. Of course my batteries were bad after years of aging, but my biggest problem was that I didn't know about the kick off needed by the scooter to get the motor started. I feel dumb and happy at the same time. You have made my nephews very happy. Thanks again.
i agree the last part of this video is the most valuable and should come first for anyone who knows basic troubleshooting. I had even tried starting the scooter by rolling it (albeit slowly) while applying the throttle. I was about to take everything apart and start all over again when I viewed this video (without thinking it was much help) and saw it through to the end. I then went out and tried again trotting along side the thing (it has a 120 lb weight limit that suggests it would be unwise for me to actually ride it), and the thing took off. Problem solved -- user error! Thanks for this video.
Dear Mr. Adam Hill -DIY It's 5-3-2021 I'm 52 and under (quarantine) this is far the best video*****5***** on E-SCOOTERS ON U-TUBE I have been working on Razor Power Core E100, E125, E150 and other scooters. For 3 weeks in the garage same modelz now i can buy all the correct parts and supply the kids in the neighborhood with free scooters. If YOU DO ANY MODS IN THE FUTUER TAG ME ON MESSENGER OR FACE BOOK CHRISTIAN TEAGAN all others will be deleted unless u can meet the standards of this work Thank u for taking the time to post this step by step video
I have checked everything all I have left is to give it a push to see if it’ll start. Thank you very thorough and simple. Best video out there if you’re replacing things.
Just got one of these for free from a friend who didn’t have the patience to work through the issues. This video was very clear and I am sure will help me find root cause. Thanks!!
Adam your a super hero. Saved my kids bday. We found a e90 off marketplace everything looked good and foolishly bought it without riding it. Got it home didn’t run, they guy refused to take it back even though he said “like new” on the post. Thanks to you found it was the module and ordered the correct one for the E90, going to be a happy kid in a week on his bday. Thank you, now subbing!!
BIG, BIG help....thank you so much. I rebuilt one my brother gave me. Tested everything and was only getting the click. I have taken this thing apart twice, still only a click... I didn't know you had to give it a push to get kicked over. Wow, can't wait to give that a try, my son and daughter have been dying to give this thing a try.
I had replaced the batteries (fully charging them separately before soldering the connections to them) and replaced the control unit (it hadn't worked before, with the old batteries, even with them showing to be fully charged) and it still wouldn't work. The instruction manual I found online (this was a second-hand freebie for my son, so no instructions with it) said that only the E100 needed to be up to 3 MPH before engaging. Maybe it's just the aftermarket controller, but this unit (E150) has to be rolling pretty fast (probably 3 MPH) before the motor will engage.
This video was awesome! Thanks a lot. I almost missed out on a good scooter and after watching your video I see I just need a little push start on it. My issue was I was turning the throttle and I heard the click on the controller but wheel wasn’t moving. Now I know I just need to give it a little push off. Grade A video buddy, thanks a lot
Your way of explaining is very good. I also have a similar bike. I didn't know about its wiring. After watching your video, I gained a lot of knowledge
That was a very good put together video you truly are a professional I am an electronics expert and what I did is buy a new box and I got to collect everything was working I checked everything but unless you know the secret about spinning the wheel it won’t run thank you nice job
Lol! The whole time I was going through parts and replacing pieces that already needed replacing due to wear... Got it all back together and only got a click. Didn't even thing that it would need a bit of a kick start! Thank you soooooo much. Great video.
Adam, Thank you for the comprehensive troubleshooting! A friend asked me to see if I could fix his sons Pulse GRT-11. I don’t have any idea how these work but will try your checks since I do understand how to use a multimeter. Thank you very much for taking the time and trouble to post!
Why would anyone #unlike this video? Haters!! Well, this single mom is going to try this out. My son and I don't have anyone to help us out with things like this and it's always good to have some friendly technical support online. Thanks guy!! Huggs from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷
It's either kick it or change the throttle. Changing the throttle helped a lot. Then it works like a twist grip should, start slow and build up speed instead of it just being a toggle switch ON and OFF (I think it's best for kids) plus less strain on all the other parts of the scooter. Then you can put a key switch on it so it's harder to rip off.
Thank u so much! I knew my batteries were bad after purchasing this used scooter and upon replacing them it still didnt work, i was about to bust open the controller because i didnt hear a click until i saw the last thing u said to check by giving it a push start and it worked!
Thank you man...was handed a E500s scooter, to fix...smh...1st wiring all unplugged, then battery's both dead...overcome all that, still no motor oper, ohm test O.L- smh, so motors apart & cleaning armature now, then noticed rear wheel bearings shot too...smh but hey your guidance thru throttle & controller was a Big help man...👍👍👍👌💯
If it hasn't already been mentioned - test the batteries first because if they're dead then the control relay won't click. >>Be careful when testing not to short circuit the battery with the test probes!
Well this gave me a better idea on fixing my scooter, wished I saw this video before I joined and soldered the wires after the dogs ate the trottle and brakes line .thanks for making life easier.
Glad I watch this video my scooter for my grandkids was given to me and now I know what I’m testing for and if I didn’t know you had to move the wheel I probably would’ve thrown it away after several tests thank you very much great video!!🇺🇸❤️
At 10:04 mark: How to connect battery directly to motor to test the motor (at least on e90): connected brown wire from motor to red of battery. And connected blue wire from motor to black of battery.
Great video...which helped me to isolate my son's scooter issue down to the reset button which I ended up bypassing and the scooter now runs like a champ!
🤭 that's a SAFETY switch ! .. you can bypass it to make sure it's bad BUT YOU HAVE TO REPLACE IT if it's defective otherwise you're risking an injury 🤕 in case of a short circuit or a 🔥 fire!
I know this is an old post but it was very helpful thank you. Can you possibly tell me if the chain needs any sort of oiling whereas it has been sitting for a long time.
You are a very nice man, it was the batteries they were soldered on so put them back same way, it didn’t go but found you have to give the drive wheel a fair old flick to make it start and it did. In U K we can’t use them on the road or side walk (pavement) but family has a field, thanks again.
this scooter also work on 36V lithium battery. just connect it directly to the motor via an on off switch. just make sure not to stress the motor too hard as it will otherwiese go off in flames (own experience)
I have tested everything and all is good, but the relay isn't clicking. I bought a new one, still no click. I am only getting 17v from the batts. Any idea if the relay would still click with 17v? Thanks for the video and tips!
Thanks for the information. My wife bought a used E175, that supposedly needed a new battery. The relay box wasn't clicking when the throttle was engaged, so I replaced that instead. Now it' runs.
Thanks for the info I have a scooter brand new used once’s an just sat in the garage for a few years was going to give it a way glad I looked it up to see if I could fix it
We found a 12v one in the bushes. We tried charging the battery and it charged. I did not hear a relay clicking but I thought lets do the spin the wheel test and whalla it worked! Thanks for the video.
Dude thanks! You inspired me to take my niece's scooter apart and fix it! Couldn't find anything wrong put it back together and it works! Probably a loose connector, but hey! Subbed!
Great video, totally helpful. But I can get wheels to run when not touching a surface or any weight...so in the air. I can hear controller box click, I'm not sure about hearing the brake click. But anyways. What can you tell me. I dnt have ammeter at the moment. Just hoping there a tell tail sign. It says it's fully charged on the wall charger.
Hi bought the controller and extra batteries from Amazon just in case, but I still can't hear the click, I already check the break circuit and tested it, the motor does work when I connect it directly to the battery, I don't what else to test - is it possible that the replacement module that I got is not good? anything else I can check? Thank You
Great video!!!! Keep up the good work! Question: If I connect the batteries to the motor directly, will the motor spin, or do I still have to fake the kick?
Thanks this is very helpful. Battery, brake, and (new) controller are good but I think my throttle is broken. I cut the wires and tried connecting brown-brown and orange-orange to mimic what the throttle does. But still no click. Any thoughts?
The most frequent cause of Razor scooter failure is the batteries. If the batteries cannot be charged above 23V the controller will not function and the motor will not engage. Many owners think the batteries are OK if the switch lights up. No so! Measure them with a voltmeter. If the reading after charging is below 23V replace them. The 23V limit is there to prevent the batteries from deep discharging and irreversible damage.
Firstly thanks for the video. Do you know if its possible to make it work without push to start. Where i live isn't flat so kids finding it difficult to start up the way. Thank you
LOL Another one with the only thing wrong was the ‘kick’ start. Thanks and I troubleshooted everything and learned from it. E100 really needs to be rolling before the throttle engage….very unlike the newer scooter.
Thanks for the instructions on how to replace a relay, I replace the relay and the wheel is not spinning even when I give it a spin so could that be a bad motor?
Thanks! I bought the blue one I found on kjiji that had its battery stolen and a missing charger. All it needed was 2 replacement batteries, a wiring harness, and a charger.
Awesome video! is there a way of manually checking if the controller is the problem? Also, i've found that the middle pin of the charger isn't working (the on/off switch doesn't work). is there a way to fix this?
You are great!!! I'm just learning everything on my razor echosmart metro and Im having problems...the scooter used to go 12 miles now only 2 miles then low light comes on and scooter crawls home, at that point I test the 3 batteries they show 12.7 to 13v in series 38 volts....I charge it again and I get 2 miles then it goes dead. I have changed the batteries and charger twice, then recently I changed out the control module its only 6 months old and Im clueless. Im going to watch this video and see im missing something thanks
Thanks for the great vid! I have a question. My throttle, brake switch, and batteries all check out. Controller clicks with throttle activation, but the motor won't start with a kick. When the throttle is switched on, there is no voltage going to the motor. Is the controller at fault? Hot wiring the batteries to the motor DOES operate the motor.
Perfect video. Bought on used for 15$. Previous owner said it wasnt working. I followed the video, tested all the leads. Everything was fine. Like said, all my kid had to do was push it a bit hard and it worked. Lol. Excellent video. Thank you
I am a 52 year old Mom, quarantining because of the Corona. You helped me fix our old scooter! Thank you
Hi
Almost gave away mine.
Cooties19 is a hoax for Redistribution of Wealth.
@@stopglobalswarming hello fellow red pill
There was/is no corona virus. Your mom was quarantining FOR NOTHING. Or haven't you heard?
That is by far the most in depth video for a "Razor" that I have seen over the years.
Greatly appreciated.
you all prolly dont care at all but does anyone know of a way to get back into an Instagram account..?
I was stupid lost the password. I love any tips you can offer me

@Dash Diego thanks so much for your reply. I found the site through google and Im trying it out atm.

@Dash Diego It did the trick and I now got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thanks so much, you really help me out!
@Ariel Chris you are welcome :D
first class my friend you have made my 8 year old grandson very happy. he can fix every thing on his scooter now thanks to you. top man..
What if my scooter turns the wheel slowly? Do I need a new motor?
Did you really have to leave the most important thing in the last min

Yes I agree! Kick off needs to be first in video. I took apart the whole thing for no reason lol. Learned a lot though. Thanks for the video
Yes! Wish i had watched that last part first. Glad to know everything else works! Did not realize you need to push the scooter to get the motor going.

Thank you for helping my Dad fix my scooter. My Dad says that the steps and the detail that you've gone into is awesome so thanks very much.
they finally found some one that knows how to explain a circuit ! thanks ADAM DIY ! GOOD JOB .

Thanks, appreciate the walk-through, the little tip at the end to give the motor a little kick made all the difference! Save me hours of headache.

Spinning the wheel to give it momentum was the trick! Saved me the cost of a new and unneeded electrical controller!
Excellent and very detailed explanation. You made a lot of folks happy , and probably , saved them money too.
Much appreciated ,
What if my scooter turns the wheel slowly? Do I need a new motor?

Absolutely solved it for me. Spin the wheel!!!!!!!! Not any other video says that. Thanks.
My wife considered tossing our Razor E150s as trash but once again I find another great video. My 7 and 11 year old thank you!!
Thank you. We fixed a 15year old scooter with this video!

Thank you so much for this video. I was able to fix my grand daughters scooter with the purchase of a control box for less than $20.
This whole time I didn't know you have to give it a kick. I inherited a used one.
It's either kick it or change the throttle. Changing the throttle helped a lot. Great video!! I picked up a Razor e100 for $20 at my local Habitat Restore and was able to diagnose a bad wire to fix a nifty scooter. Thanks!!😊

Well this gave me a better idea on fixing my scooter, wished I saw this video before I joined and soldered the wires after the dogs ate the trottle and brakes line .thanks for making life easier.
Great video. I just bought 2 of these exact scooters for $25. They power on but don't move. Going to go check it out now that I've watched this
What did your problems end up being?
Glad I watch this video my scooter for my grandkids was given to me and now I know what I’m testing for and if I didn’t know you had to move the wheel I probably would’ve thrown it away after several tests thank you very much great video!!🇺🇸❤️
Much appreciated and what a great explanations. I’ll be using this as a guide tomorrow to troubleshoot my scooter.
At 10:04 mark: How to connect battery directly to motor to test the motor (at least on e90): connected brown wire from motor to red of battery. And connected blue wire from motor to black of battery.
Thanks Adam.. learned quite a bit, on the Electrics..Going to try some New Tricks on My Faults... Thank you.
Thank you GREATLY for going through this process!!! Confident I will be up and rolling in no time. Thanks again!!!
Excellent, concise troubleshooting guide.
Excellent video i just fixed my kids scooter because this video helped me figure out what was wrong with it. Thanks.
Thank you Sir! Got a free razor and fixed it following your video
Hahaha the last 5 seconds of your video did it. My gosh it did everything right and didn’t know about the “kick” ! Thanks
Thank you very much for this video. I was able to find the issue and get the replacement controller for $16 to fix the scooter that I got for free.

Saved the day ( last reminder of push to start was issue ) tyvm
Thank You my problem is solved by watching your video.
just got a razor e100 went through all except motor going to check it now.good video
this scooter also work on 36V lithium battery. just connect it directly to the motor via an on off switch. just make sure not to stress the motor too hard as it will otherwiese go off in flames (own experience)
Good Job. One of the best how to videos that I have seen .
Thanks for the detailed walkthrough. I didn't know about the manual "boost". I'll give that a shot!
Best video by far
great video. Picked up an E275 from swap meet. It's not running but I'm sure this video will show me why!
Were you able to fix it?
I have tested everything and all is good, but the relay isn't clicking. I bought a new one, still no click. I am only getting 17v from the batts. Any idea if the relay would still click with 17v?
Thanks for the video and tips!
I think I may have just found my answer. The relay has an under voltage rating of 19.5. So I am guessing it's a no.
Thanks for the information. My wife bought a used E175, that supposedly needed a new battery. The relay box wasn't clicking when the throttle was engaged, so I replaced that instead. Now it' runs.
I have a E175 don’t runs,and the relay box wasn’t clicking,you think i need to replace the relay box?
Very good job bad, you made it look simple for everyone
Thank you Adam, this video totally helped me to learn how to get my kids scooter back running.
Easy to follow your explanations. Great for us laymen. Thanks 😊
Great video. Saved me a ton of questions while not having a diagram. And thanks for adding links, so many videos don't top off the tutorial that way.
Thank you great video by the way where do you recommend I buy the batteries from
Hi bought the controller and extra batteries from Amazon just in case, but I still can't hear the click, I already check the break circuit and tested it, the motor does work when I connect it directly to the battery, I don't what else to test - is it possible that the replacement module that I got is not good? anything else I can check? Great video!!!! Keep up the good work! Question: If I connect the batteries to the motor directly, will the motor spin, or do I still have to fake the kick?
Thanks this is very helpful. Battery, brake, and (new) controller are good but I think my throttle is broken. I cut the wires and tried connecting brown-brown and orange-orange to mimic what the throttle does. But still no click. Any thoughts?
Thanks I've checked every part of the scooter the all look good , but I need to use the meter to test the them. Thanks again
Excellent explanation!
On my scooter i don't hear anything no click
I replaced the module but still the same
LOL
Another one with the only thing wrong was the ‘kick’ start.
Thanks and I troubleshooted everything and learned from it.
E100 really needs to be rolling before the throttle engage….very unlike the newer scooter.
Thanks for the instructions on how to replace a relay, I replace the relay and the wheel is not spinning even when I give it a spin so could that be a bad motor?
great video lots of good info.
Great job! Bud. Thanks for share your knowledge!
Adam any suggestions on upgrading the batteries to lithium?
Thanks, you made my grand daughter happy
Your the bomb for us do it our self dads ! Perfect video thank you
Thanks found a new pink girls one thrown out, couldn't figure why it wasn't working just needed a push, made my daughter's day.
Beautifully clear and SO v helpful ... Tks!!!
Neat, I got one of these for $5, a bright pink one.
Buying a replacement charger cost more...
Pretty sure I just didn't do the push off start .
Thanks! I bought the blue one I found on kjiji that had its battery stolen and a missing charger. All it needed was 2 replacement batteries, a wiring harness, and a charger.
This helped so much! Thank you!
All great info and delivered very well
Awesome video! is there a way of manually checking if the controller is the problem?
Also, i've found that the middle pin of the charger isn't working (the on/off switch doesn't work). is there a way to fix this?
Thanks for the information, I fixed my daughters scooter thanks to you 👍👍👍👍
Muchas gracias aprendí paso a paso como diagnosticar un scooter, muy buen video...

When the throttle is switched on, there is no voltage going to the motor. Is the controller at fault? Hot wiring the batteries to the motor DOES operate the motor.
Thank you. Great video. Helped me out big time.
Great video ! Just wish you told us in the beginning it needs a push to start. Took everything apart to figure out it’s all fine 😂
