- Here is a quick list of parts I mention in this video:
Charger → amzn.to/2kOKgQA
My multimeter → amzn.to/2kD2Slh
Replacement Controller → amzn.to/2luX8Ku
Batteries (attach with solder) → amzn.to/2lxlVOW
Throttle → amzn.to/2lxO7RV
I'm working on an E100 but these parts may also work on Razor Power Core E100, e125, e150, and other scooters. Just check the part numbers.
The most common problem with Razor electric scooters is dead or dying batteries. The second would be the controller box and the third would be broken wires. Hopefully, the steps in this video will help you identify your problem.
Best of luck with your repair!

I am a 52 year old Mom, quarantining because of the Corona. You helped me fix our old scooter! Thank you
Hi
Almost gave away mine.
Cooties19 is a hoax for Redistribution of Wealth.
@@stopglobalswarming hello fellow red pill
There was/is no corona virus. Your mom was quarantining FOR NOTHING. Or haven't you heard?
Thank you for helping my Dad fix my scooter. My Dad says that the steps and the detail that you've gone into is awesome so thanks very much.
Just got one of these for free from a friend who didn’t have the patience to work through the issues. This video was very clear and I am sure will help me find root cause. Thanks!!
Adam your a super hero. Saved my kids bday. We found a e90 off marketplace everything looked good and foolishly bought it without riding it. Got it home didn’t run, they guy refused to take it back even though he said “like new” on the post. Thanks to you found it was the module and ordered the correct one for the E90, going to be a happy kid in a week on his bday. Thank you, now subbing!!
Lol! The whole time I was going through parts and replacing pieces that already needed replacing due to wear... Got it all back together and only got a click. Didn't even thing that it would need a bit of a kick start! Thank you soooooo much. Great video.
first class my friend you have made my 8 year old grandson very happy. he can fix every thing on his scooter now thanks to you. top man..
What if my scooter turns the wheel slowly? Do I need a new motor?
Did you really have to leave the most important thing in the last min
LOL
Another one with the only thing wrong was the ‘kick’ start.
Thanks and I troubleshooted everything and learned from it.
E100 really needs to be rolling before the throttle engage….very unlike the newer scooter.
just got a razor e100 went through all except motor going to check it now.good video
Excellent, concise troubleshooting guide.
I'm getting only 20V output on a e300. Wheel spins when on bench, but crawls when put on the ground. Batteries are brand new (13V each). Would the problem be the controller, the motor, or the bearings?
Great instructions. What happens if I can hear the click ( from turning the throttle) when the charger is plugged in, but can't hear the click once the charger is disconnected?
Did you ever get a solution for this because mine is doing the same. Stays solid green upon charge as well but I don’t get the click when on without charger plugged in.
Thank you very, very well explained!!!!! Thanks again......gracias
This helped so much! Thank you!
Do you know how many vol DC come out from control box by any chance?
I know this video is old, but I was hoping maybe you can help me.
I do not have a razor scooter, but a dualtron style clone scooter. The problem it has, is that recently stated experiencing power problems. When I hit full throttle, it seems as if it wants to run fast, but then the power slows down. It doesn't go as fast as it was before.
I've checked the voltage on the battery, but through the voltage meter it has on the LCD display, it reads that the lithium battery has a full charge, 67.2v. I have a 60v 5000w scooter. I've checked all the connections on the controller, they seem to be connected. But I have not checked their connectivity like you did. I was thinking it might be a bad motor, because I has noise problems coming out of the front motor before.
But my question is, how can I load test the lithium battery?
I haven't check the batteries but the reset button wont stay in( stays tripped). Could bad batteries cause it? If not, any ideas? Where to get new reset?
I hear a relay click when I turn the throttle, but the motor does not turn when I Jump Start it. When I press the Brake the Relay does not Unclick? Thanks
You explain everything but you left out where to purchase the battery for my Ebike.
Ok what’s going on with my e100? I put new batteries in it and a new controller. The switch doesn’t light up and the breaker trips after 5 seconds. I test all the connections with meter. Everything checks out. The motor resistance is 5.5
UNA PREGUNTA QUE FUNCIÓN TIENE EL BOTÓN NEGRO Y COMO SE LLAMA PARA COMPRARLO ,
PUEDO COLOCARLO DIRECTO OMITIRLO,
O CONQUE PUEDO REEMPLAZARLO
SI NO CONSIGO
GRACIAS,
On my scooter i don't hear anything no click
I replaced the module but still the same
Hi ive tested everything like you demonstrated the brake doesnt beep unless you press the brake handle lthen it bleeps what does that mean thanks
Thanks for the help.
Adamdiy thank you Bro fix you the best
I mean it’s fixed
I have a e300 new batteries fully charge. the motor work fine but as
soon as I get on it, it can't go, or go very slowly and stop, I am not
heavy 141pounds. could it be the partially motor damage in someway?
Same
I need some help!!! I have that scooter but my red botton of on and off is damage I would like to know if you guys know where I can find exactly the same red button for that scooter
Thx for the info....good video!
I luv Razor electric scooters!
I have 25 vdc going to the controller from the batteries, but only .2 vdc going to the motor from the controller when the throttle switch is actuated. Thoughts? (The controller is new)
I have the same problem - did you find a solution?
Same here😥
What is the noise when you spin the back wheel?
It just sounds like a click, for me it was very quiet so you have to listen carfully
Grateful to you.
My neighbor just put 3 brand new ones on the curb, and I got them all. None are working, so I figure this may just be the issue
I’m getting power the throttle is good but the relay is not clicking. I bought new speed controler and still not working. I have a razor accelerator
11:03 liked for that Street Fighter 2 in the back!
Your 👏🏽 awesome
Perfect video. Bought on used for 15$. Previous owner said it wasnt working. I followed the video, tested all the leads. Everything was fine. Like said, all my kid had to do was push it a bit hard and it worked. Lol. Excellent video. Thank you
Hi bought the controller and extra batteries from Amazon just in case, but I still can't hear the click, I already check the break circuit and tested it, the motor does work when I connect it directly to the battery, I don't what else to test - is it possible that the replacement module that I got is not good? anything else I can check? Thank You
If I only recorded all my repairs
That is by far the most in depth video for a "Razor" that I have seen over the years.
Greatly appreciated.
you all prolly dont care at all but does anyone know of a way to get back into an Instagram account..?
I was stupid lost the password. I love any tips you can offer me
@Ariel Chris Instablaster ;)
@Dash Diego thanks so much for your reply. I found the site through google and Im trying it out atm.
Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
@Dash Diego It did the trick and I now got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thanks so much, you really help me out!
@Ariel Chris you are welcome :D
This video was awesome! Thanks a lot. I almost missed out on a good scooter and after watching your video I see I just need a little push start on it.
My issue was I was turning the throttle and I heard the click on the controller but wheel wasn’t moving. Now I know I just need to give it a little push off. Grade A video buddy, thanks a lot
This whole time I didn't know you have to give it a kick. I inherited a used one.
It's either kick it or change the throttle. Changing the throttle helped a lot. Then it works like a twist grip should, start slow and build up speed instead of it just being a toggle switch ON and OFF (I think it's best for kids) plus less strain on all the other parts of the scooter. Then you can put a key switch on it so it's harder to rip off.
Thanks, appreciate the walk-through, the little tip at the end to give the motor a little kick made all the difference! Save me hours of headache.
I had replaced the batteries (fully charging them separately before soldering the connections to them) and replaced the control unit (it hadn't worked before, with the old batteries, even with them showing to be fully charged) and it still wouldn't work. The instruction manual I found online (this was a second-hand freebie for my son, so no instructions with it) said that only the E100 needed to be up to 3 MPH before engaging. Maybe it's just the aftermarket controller, but this unit (E150) has to be rolling pretty fast (probably 3 MPH) before the motor will engage.
Awesome! My son’s scooter, which he’s had for 3 years, is now fixed thanks to your help!
I have tested everything and all is good, but the relay isn't clicking. I bought a new one, still no click. I am only getting 17v from the batts. Any idea if the relay would still click with 17v?
Thanks for the video and tips!
I think I may have just found my answer. The relay has an under voltage rating of 19.5. So I am guessing it's a no.
Never used a meter before so the way you explained how to use one along side fixing the scooter was fantastic. One fixed scooter, one happy 8 year old, thank you
Excellent and very detailed explanation. You made a lot of folks happy , and probably , saved them money too.
Much appreciated ,
What if my scooter turns the wheel slowly? Do I need a new motor?
they finally found some one that knows how to explain a circuit ! thanks ADAM DIY ! GOOD JOB .
Adam, Thank you for the comprehensive troubleshooting! A friend asked me to see if I could fix his sons Pulse GRT-11. I don’t have any idea how these work but will try your checks since I do understand how to use a multimeter. Thank you very much for taking the time and trouble to post!
Dear Mr. Adam Hill -DIY It's 5-3-2021 I'm 52 and under (quarantine) this is far the best video*****5***** on E-SCOOTERS ON U-TUBE I have been working on Razor Power Core E100, E125, E150 and other scooters. For 3 weeks in the garage same modelz now i can buy all the correct parts and supply the kids in the neighborhood with free scooters. If YOU DO ANY MODS IN THE FUTUER TAG ME ON MESSENGER OR FACE BOOK CHRISTIAN TEAGAN all others will be deleted unless u can meet the standards of this work Thank u for taking the time to post this step by step video
What does it means when i hear the throttle click but only when the scooter is charging? When i remove the charger it wont click.
Same problem for me
The Motor literally fell off of my scooter.. it's an e100 but it's not replaceable
What if my scooter turns the wheel slowly? Do I need a new motor?
Thanks for the info I have a scooter brand new used once’s an just sat in the garage for a few years was going to give it a way glad I looked it up to see if I could fix it
Very nice review of component testing. Of course my batteries were bad after years of aging, but my biggest problem was that I didn't know about the kick off needed by the scooter to get the motor started. I feel dumb and happy at the same time. You have made my nephews very happy. Thanks again.
i agree the last part of this video is the most valuable and should come first for anyone who knows basic troubleshooting. I had even tried starting the scooter by rolling it (albeit slowly) while applying the throttle. I was about to take everything apart and start all over again when I viewed this video (without thinking it was much help) and saw it through to the end. I then went out and tried again trotting along side the thing (it has a 120 lb weight limit that suggests it would be unwise for me to actually ride it), and the thing took off. Problem solved -- user error! Thanks for this video.
Yes I agree! Kick off needs to be first in video. I took apart the whole thing for no reason lol. Learned a lot though. Thanks for the video
Yes! Wish i had watched that last part first. Glad to know everything else works! Did not realize you need to push the scooter to get the motor going.
That was a very good put together video you truly are a professional I am an electronics expert and what I did is buy a new box and I got to collect everything was working I checked everything but unless you know the secret about spinning the wheel it won’t run thank you nice job
Thank you GREATLY for going through this process!!! Confident I will be up and rolling in no time. Thanks again!!!
Who repairs scooters?
My scooter passed all of these tests. Even ohmed the motor lead to the connection. Still wont work. Any ideas?
Dead battery
HI
I have a variflex stinger electric scooter, here are the specs
Variflex Stinger Electric Scooter Specifications: Two 12 Volt 12Ah SLA batteries, 24 Volt DC motor, 575-5M-15 HTD drive belt, 2-speed off/on/on pull lever throttle, 10"x2" tires and tubes, rear band brake, 24 Volt AC 2 Amp output battery charger
Between my buddy and I we have some good tech abilities, the question is, what would be the best way to make this scooter FASTER?
Do we just get a stronger motor?
Can we wind this one tighter?
Get a better battery?
Maybe just go with a 36v battery and be done with it?
I was wondering if you could give me some ideas to make this thing ROCK
BIG, BIG help....thank you so much. I rebuilt one my brother gave me. Tested everything and was only getting the click. I have taken this thing apart twice, still only a click... I didn't know you had to give it a push to get kicked over. Wow, can't wait to give that a try, my son and daughter have been dying to give this thing a try.
The most frequent cause of Razor scooter failure is the batteries. If the batteries cannot be charged above 23V the controller will not function and the motor will not engage. Many owners think the batteries are OK if the switch lights up. No so! Measure them with a voltmeter. If the reading after charging is below 23V replace them. The 23V limit is there to prevent the batteries from deep discharging and irreversible damage.
I bought one the same model at a thrift store for $10... Bought a battery charger for $16 on Amazon haven't tried it out yet, thought something was wrong with it because it wouldn't go from a dead stop🙄🤔
This video is worth its weight it gold!
Thank you for posting it.
great video. Picked up an E275 from swap meet. It's not running but I'm sure this video will show me why!
Were you able to fix it?
Great video, totally helpful. But I can get wheels to run when not touching a surface or any weight...so in the air. I can hear controller box click, I'm not sure about hearing the brake click. But anyways. What can you tell me. I dnt have ammeter at the moment. Just hoping there a tell tail sign. It says it's fully charged on the wall charger.
Great video explaining is great still can't find the problem with my e100 can anyone help me my Relay isn't making the click both battery's are good new Control module motor is good connected it to my 12v battery wheel is spinning but Receiving 00.9oms (orange wires) Resistant from the throttle Connections 03.5 from the two brown wires help please thanks
Dang should have watched this video before I ordered the little black box ($13.00 ebay) got a click but didn't know about giving rear wheel a boost 🤔. Oh well know now. Thank you for your help.
whats the volt reading from control to motor the yellow and blue only getting 1-2 volts and control box is new
Plugged mine in, charger stays green, on button will come on now but I only hear the relay if plugged in. 5 hours of charging and still nothing, would that be the battery?
My motor reads 3.2 does that mean my motor is blown out ?? Please someone help ,I got new batteries 🔋 and still not working just hearing a click sound 😤
My guy, definitley earned my like and subscribe. Been a low-voltage technician for 7 years now. Picked up 3 of these for 50 bucks bout to go to town on them and restore. thanks for great video!
Thank you Sir! Got a free razor and fixed it following your video
Neat, I got one of these for $5, a bright pink one.
Buying a replacement charger cost more...
Pretty sure I just didn't do the push off start .
Just a suggestion: Don't solder the wires to the batteries; instead attach some (yellow) push-on 1/4" connectors to the wires. Makes it much easier to change out the batteries.
Hey Adam. Any ideas why my kids e125 scooter doesn’t work. Watched your video and installed new relay in it and it still makes the click sound but no go. Got new batteries and motor works. Wired it direct and comes on. Thanks
my charger only has one prong, so when i tried to measure the voltage coming from the charger, it just gave a big spark with just one lead in there, so i didn't continue. Was this because it was automatically on AC? I set it to DC after i realized, but i wasn't sure if it was because it was a one prong connector or what.
Thanks for the great video however I replaced the battery and control box, checked all points that you showed and motor is working with direct connection to battery. 100% checked but the connector from controller to motor don't have power with throttle. help!
Hi from Alberta Canada 🇨🇦 Do they still make this scooter, and where would I find parts for it today?
Thanks If Anything
Thank u so much! I knew my batteries were bad after purchasing this used scooter and upon replacing them it still didnt work, i was about to bust open the controller because i didnt hear a click until i saw the last thing u said to check by giving it a push start and it worked!
I have same scooter.....controller box went out, but my brake socket doesn't make a sound when I try to read the countuanoty....can is still make run if I get a new box?
Everything on mine has tested ok all connected ,new throttle and new controller box but still no power going to the motor ,the motor works just don't get it the fuse is fine ,I bypass the brake as it's not working and still can't get it to move the volt meter on the scooter is registers at 25 .6 votes really don't get why it's not working
Much appreciated and what a great explanations. I’ll be using this as a guide tomorrow to troubleshoot my scooter.
Now the more interesting video would be if that street fighter arcade works, and how you got it. Might have to search your back catalogue.
Thank you very much for this video. I was able to find the issue and get the replacement controller for $16 to fix the scooter that I got for free.
WATCH YOUR FINGERS near the wheel and chain if using your hand to do the "push to start."
What happens if you give it a boost and it still doesn’t start
Firstly thanks for the video. Do you know if its possible to make it work without push to start. Where i live isn't flat so kids finding it difficult to start up the way. Thank you
Glad I watch this video my scooter for my grandkids was given to me and now I know what I’m testing for and if I didn’t know you had to move the wheel I probably would’ve thrown it away after several tests thank you very much great video!!🇺🇸❤️
Hi My 2 battery say 1 saind 12.5 there other one day 12.1 put cable can hiring the click and still no running i check the motor charger battery it working still no workin
I know this is an old post but it was very helpful thank you. Can you possibly tell me if the chain needs any sort of oiling whereas it has been sitting for a long time.
My scooter make a relay sound I doing the wheel but still don’t work . Do you have another idea about it ? . Thank you
I’m 12 and 2 months ago found a scrap e100s with the seat and I got the red light there is no clicking sound coming from the relay
Why wouldn't you start with the easiest thing first? I took the whole damn scooter apart to to find that the wheel need a jump start first. Always start with the most simple 🤦
My motor only returned a result of 1.5. Is there a place to purchase new motor? Do you have a video on the process of that, too?
this scooter also work on 36V lithium battery. just connect it directly to the motor via an on off switch. just make sure not to stress the motor too hard as it will otherwiese go off in flames (own experience)
Hahaha the last 5 seconds of your video did it. My gosh it did everything right and didn’t know about the “kick” ! Thanks
My power light isn't coming on and it won't start but the green light on the charger is on. What should I do first?
Such a bad explanation, I followed everything, still did not work.
any advice then its do spin in air but then can be stop by hand very easy and dont go on the road as well, that can be wrong?
My scooter turns on but when I pull the throttle I hear no click but when I plug in the charger and pull the throttle it clicks so do I have a bad battery or a bad controller
Uhm that kick start info would have been very helpful in the beginning!🤣
