We had 5 copies of the album in the store so I took one home to check them out. I liked what I heard but I was looking forward to Sabbath that I didn't pay that much attention. The next day I told my manager to order about 200 copies of this album. We sold them all out in 2 days. When you then find out that some MIT engineer did the sound, produced the album, played all the instruments, invented new devices to get that sound, continued to work his day job and was lucky to get Delp for the vocals. This song is the best song on the album for me. I remember being at Padre Island and my husband and I were just a couple years into our marriage (probably 87 or 88) we were so young. We rented a little VRBO …. We actually rented it twice over the years. Anyway we could look out the window and walk across the street and the beach was right there. It’s not that way anymore. Anyway we were at the beach with our boombox that played cassette tapes and we played Boston all day long .That day this beautiful Irish setter dog came up to us and he stayed with us for the rest of the afternoon. We have pictures of me in the water with him. We wanted to take him home with us, but when our day ended, he went on his way. Every time I hear this song I think of that day. ❤️

If you want to hear another great guitar solo, watch Eric Johnson's Cliffs of Dover at Austin City Limits. It is the one where he is wearing a marching band jacket.
There are VERY VERY few albums where each and every song would be enough to buy the whole album. There are artists, even successful ones, who never achieve that feat in an entire career (I'm not sure I could name even 10 from my lifetime). Boston did it twice with Boston and Don't Look Back! Whether you listen with headphones and privately soak in the incredible sounds or share with the far corners of your city at ground-shaking volumes, Boston's music is the pinnacle of finely crafted melodies and counter-melodies from the guitar rock era. I have listened to their music for 40 years and I don't think anyone will ever match them - ever!
From the day of release until this day and beyond, I totally agree with every word. Tom's genius of sonic perfection. Yes, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Steely Dan, Heart, Kansas.......
Agree! Rick is engaging, extremely knowledgeable and passionate about all music. His videos are full of enthusiasm, good nature and musical expertise. All his videos are a education for budding and experienced musicians..

Brad Delp, Lou Gramm, Steve Walsh, Don Henley, Paul Rodgers, Rik Emmett, Ronnie Van Zant - singers I could listen to forever and ever. Different styles but all excellent/outstanding singers.
The best song ever. Having a shitty day, put this on and you will feel better. Play it over and over and louder every time and the bullshit day is forgotten. Again, best song ever.
Let's face it...you're on a YT video pertaining solely to Boston (i.e. Scholz). My comment was essentially 'fan driven', rather to be taken literally. I have idolized Scholz since I was a teenager (I'm heading toward 50 years old). I've actually had the privelige to meet Scholz personally one to one some years ago and have been inspired during my life by Scholz by a vegetarian lifestyle, philanthropy, his music, electronics, ethical animal/human practices, playing/recording style/techniques and have spent 30 years collecting the Rockman line of processors/amps, which all reinforces my inspiration and love for Scholz and everything he's contributed to this world, both musically and otherwise. This is the sort of comment any fan would likely make....choose the artist. I realize Scholz isn't one of the best players of all time, and as you've said, no offense to him. He is one hell of an amazing player and yes, I realize he's classically trained on piano and I know more bio on Scholz than most people would. There are mind blowing players out there of all kinds and even 7 year-olds are ripping it up beyond belief. All in all, my comment is fan and inspiration driven. A Hendrix fan would claim Hendrix was the best. A Bach fan would claim Bach was the best. A Jeff Beck fan would claim Beck was the best. And so on. You are solely on a Boston video, therefore, comments like mine are always expected on any video of a specific performer of that group. UPDATE: It now appears that JJ removed his snarky comment to me altogether, the moment I followed up with my explanation above. 🙄

This will be one of the songs played at my funeral!!!!
I still think this is most underrated solo in rock hiatory.
Best Rock album of all time.
Top 5 for sure.
Well put, John. 40 years for me too.
From the day of release until this day and beyond, I totally agree with every word. Tom's genius of sonic perfection. Yes, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Steely Dan, Heart, Kansas.......
Well said !
Agree 100%. Never needed to forward through a single song!
I agree. Sounds even better at 74 rpm
When Rick Beato tears this song apart, you then realise the true genius that is Tom Scholz...
Watched it yesterday,it moves me ,in 2020,he is so good at getting people involved, and the music...……….
Agree! Rick is engaging, extremely knowledgeable and passionate about all music. His videos are full of enthusiasm, good nature and musical expertise.
All his videos are a education for budding and experienced musicians..
Honestly, you don't have to be Rick Beato to recognize genius.
@@CrowleyRhoads Nice to have it heard by someone like Rick, though.
He just named the outro solo as the best ever
One of the all-time songs.
@RacerPaul3…….song is so sick
This is a very good song let’s rock
I'm getting old, In talks with my family I expressed that THIS SONG should be played as my "exit" piece. I was assured it WILL be done. See my older comment. 👍😊👍
I saw Boston April. 1 1977 I was in 10th Grade it was at Cobo Hall in Detroit. They were awesome Brad Delp never seen or heard anything like him. They played all their tunes and said goodbye. The Detroit fans were having none of that...The house lights came on and we refused to leave.Brad came out and said they played everything...We refused to go..Being the great guys they were Boston played three songs all ready played again...never forget it..Detroit loved Boston. Those were the days at Cobo Hall.THAT WAS ROCK CITY............
I am 62 and still rocking to this song like I did at 16 when it first came out. Truly a masterpiece. Thank you Boston !
Im 63 and it still takes me back to my teen years and the memories.
@@johnbelvin5216Me to brother. Times back then were so much better than now. Great to escape this current mess and head back to better times in our youth with Boston. 👍
Me too❤
I was 12yrs old when this came out one of the best albums ever produced and songs from it. I'm from SOMERVILLE,MASS But BOSTON is my hometown always. I'm 58yrs old now and truly love and appreciate this song. BOSTON ROCKS LONG LIVE ROCK AND ROLL.
I cant get it loud enough
Lost my dad April 12, 2020. This was his absolute favorite Boston song, and has always been one of my favorites as a result
Sorry honey.... thing's will get better... Already are. .. yeah...💫
I lost my Pops on 4/12/2018 💔😢
Your Dad had amazing taste in music.
Prayers ❤
I dled 6 years ago and still listen to this awesome album
One of the most melodic guitar solos in rock history! Beautiful!❤❤❤
Every song on this album is epic; this is my favorite.
Brad Delp, Lou Gramm, Steve Walsh, Don Henley, Paul Rodgers, Rik Emmett, Ronnie Van Zant - singers I could listen to forever and ever. Different styles but all excellent/outstanding singers.
This song is one of their best as a band. Delp had a killer voice
He sure did.
All Father's go Heaven 😅😅😅
Just. Plain. Awesome…..
The lead in this song 🎵 is so underrated...
One of the greatest albums ever made..Timeless!
The best song ever. Having a shitty day, put this on and you will feel better. Play it over and over and louder every time and the bullshit day is forgotten. Again, best song ever.
I know those days
well said....in time, all will agree.
Very true
SG I wanted to hit like again, but it was too late.
You got that right
How are they not in the rock n roll hall of fame?
No way! They’re not??
Sonic Genius-Tom Scholz
One of the best songs of all time, from one of the best albums of all time.
yes.
yes 100%!!
From one of the greatest musicians of all time...Tom Scholz
You bet your ass brother 👊
Incredible studio album
Got this album Christmas 1976 every song on it is fire
I got this 8 track about that same time. My deacon dad thought I'd lost my mind. Hahaha!
Dave it is what it😂 inspired people to do what in the life
This song came out right after I graduated and EVERYONE had this album.
Life is like the coldest winter
People freeze the tears I cry
Words of hell their minds are into
I've got to crack this ice and fly
Just so nastolgically pleasing. I hear it "I hitch a ride" back to 1976 when this album was released and life was simple. I cranked this album so many times that I lost count. Awesome album. One of the top five ever produced.
I hitched a ride with Jesus now i fill at peace🙏😇
Amen to that!!!!!!
Beautiful ❤
I hated that this song ended.
The Guitar play at the end was amazing Wow!
@@RhondaDennes Can't thank my parents enough for turning me on to Boston at an early age.
@@zachcarter515 Same here. I wish i could go to a Boston concert. I grew up to my grandparents listening to them and it just amaze me the talent is amazing.
the star fell on us rock it hard we know
Best song 4 ever
one of the most underrated guitar solos of all time
Not really underrated amongst players - it’s pretty universally recognized as a magnificent melodic masterpiece…sorry for the alliteration!
Underrated? Hahaha!
