    I counted days in the beginning of my nofap journey and would only focus on getting to a high streak in hopes of „unlocking“ new benefits at whatever day count. Until I realized that its about changing your lifestyle. The perceived „superpowers“ that many speak of come from taking responsibility for other things that you were before too undisciplined to pursue before due to fapping daily

    • @bigbuck919

      I don’t think I could have phrased it any better myself to be honest with you. Your absolutely right on how its more about lifestyle changes than simply not doing it. • @tearsintherain6311
      @tearsintherain6311 11 месяцев назад +3

      For real. In my case it was with training, I don’t particularly have any issue with porn use or fapping. But one analogy I like a lot is how in martial arts as the new guy you ask so much questions or admit you’re confused and humbled once you train a couple times, and many peoples advice is “just keep showing up”. It sounds like a horrible advice and unhelpful but it’s because when you keep trying to get some ability or concept (like winning against someone etc) the only way to actually do it is if you end up becoming the type of person who always shows up, because that’s the only person that will follow through and acheive the goal. And that is the actual superpower ability, not the goal you thought you wanted, because then you can use that discipline you learned, that focus that Carries on along your life and apply it to whatever you decide to do.
      I am not convinced that nofap has any benefits for me more than maybe testing my attachment to pleasure and building character and discipline, so I have not tried because I would be lying to myself if I do it and not take it seriously and therefore wouldn’t follow through. But maybe one day when I’m open to dating again and feel stable in life I will try to do it for spiritual and mental growth. I probably would at least learn something from the experience

    This is high level logic. The guilt of not being able to quit, can outweigh the benefits of quitting altogether -- which doesn't mean people shouldn't try it simply means people should be realistic and self forgiving. Goals should be small, achievable, renewable, and possess clear indicators of success -- the next five hours, the entire day, etc.

    I think some people missed the point. Nofap itself is not bad, but it’s some people’s behavior about it that is the problem. And as someone who has followed r/Nofap for some time, I agree. People will relapse after a 200+ streak and they’ll have a conniption about it, like that 200+ streak meant nothing and they are just as big as losers as they were on day 1. People will freak out and ask if ‘blank’ is a relapse over the littlest things. Like if you go to the gym for 100 days, and you miss 1 day, you’re not gonna lose all of your strengths and muscles. But that’s how some people view nofap. Nofap is very beneficial but you have to be casual about and you shouldn’t view every good thing that happens to you as a result of your nofap journey.

    I don't really masturbate or watch porn at all anymore. I don't make a big deal out of it. I don't count the days. I've just come to a logical decision that it's just not worth doing.
    So many of these nofap guys make it into this huge ordeal, and they obsess about how many days they've been on it (some guys even continue counting years later). No wonder that if and when they 'relapse' they feel absolutely devastated because they've failed their most important goal in life (that's certainly how they treat it), and now it's going to take another 256 days to get back to where they were (which is extremely discouraging).
    Besides, I've noticed from my many 'relapses', that while I might feel shit for a few days, I'm back to 100% after about 7 days, if not earlier. And yet guys think they need to get back to day 257 to get their 'superpowers' back.

      It took freaking TWO YEARS to get out of porn for me. Sometimes I would do it every day, other times I would do once a week, and sometimes I would even watch several times a day.
      Although the addiction led me to watch it, I never let myself accept this terrible habit. I would fall again and again. But if it was needed, I would try it for my whole life, I wouldn't accept it.
      Finally, after those 2 years, now I can enjoy the pleasure of not watching it, having a peaceful mind and I can persue any other goal that I want!

    I have been watching P*rn for several years and it doesn't help my mental health. It makes me want more and it became a huge distraction from my responsibilities and goals. It ultimately became my worst enemy because of how bad I allowed it to take control of my life. I fight everyday to resist. After doing it for years, I've noticed that I have been doing it less because of how repetitive and boring it got. It's to the point where it's no longer fun and feels like more of a chore. I've become obese and lazy because I've almost given up on life thinking masterbation is all I have left. I'm going to improve and hopefully stop until married. That's if I truly want a family in a terrible world.

      Fapping is worse than porn, but porn is still very bad as it will basically fry out your dopamine receptors. Fapping causes a very significant spike in prolactin levels for days (takes roughly three weeks to recover back to optimal levels based on numerous human studies using blood tests performed both before and after ejaculation, then during the abstinence period). Fapping also causes a deregulation of other hormones such as dheas, SHGB, DHT, FSH, LH, cortisol, estradiol, and free testosterone (as these hormones play a role in regulation to testosterone), etc. Dopamine receptor signaling is also affected from fapping, including growth hormone, as well as IGF levels, etc. Also, sexual fantasy in the mind (daydreaming) and porn are both lustful habits that negativity affects the brain. One may be worse than the other, but both have the same negative effects on dopamine responses, just at different elevations. God created anatomy, science, etc.
