Jeff, I think this is the best flooring video I've seen. I think those graphics will be really helpful for people.
Thanks! I had to make sure those graphics were on point, just like the flooring. I was hesitant because I though the video might be getting too long, but 30 minutes of eduction contains years of experience and fails.
Thanks Jeff, now I know all the mistakes we made here !!
50 year carpenter here who learned a lot from this video. DIY videos generally make me crazy, but nothing to criticize here except perhaps you could have glued in the 3/4” +/- piece of baseboard next to the door casing and coped the next piece to it rather than caulking the inside corner. Cope first, check fit, then mark and cut the outside miter. Copes are so easy and satisfying.
Best video I have seen for laminate installation! Really appreciate all the context and options
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm glad you found the video helpful.
Sir you're definitely an engineer you're very thorough.... Totally and completely innovative in what you're doing there... fascinating.... It's very interesting listening to you.... And it appears you invent things as you're working.... Very innovative and several notches above normal craftsmanship... Thanks for making such a instructive and helpful video sir.
Thank you so much ted for watching and glad you liked the video
yes!!! please, more tutorial videos! love these in addition to your inventory/sales videos. We bought a fixer upper home and flooring is next. I have so many projects to go. Your videos are invaluable!
Great, I have so many home remodeling videos in my library for you to binge on
This is one of my favorite channels on youtube. So much great education for free.
Great video! The room looks much better, especially with the higher-quality baseboards.
I can't believe Jeff Goldblum lays his own laminate
😂
What a great DIY style and commentary you have! I put vinyl laminate "boards" down in two rooms in my house last year and I wish I had something like this to guide me. I have a single family one story house with a full slab foundation so a loose subfloor was not an issue but I did have to do some minor leveling. And yes, cutting the flooring did ruin my tablesaw blade. Who knew? Still, going DIY saved me so much money that I don't mind the ocassional costly mistake or extra trip (or three) back to the store for replacements or things I didn't know I needed at first.
Thanks, Jeff👍🇦🇺. Excellent.
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for the tips, brother!
I'm glad you found the tips helpful!
Best video!!! Thank you!!!
Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words!
Thanks Jeff your videos are very informative you explain everything in great detail.i can wait for the next one
Glad you like them Edward!
Great video, very detailed and informative, explaining step by step. Keep them coming!
Thank you for the positive feedback! I'm glad you found the video helpful.
Jeff, that was quite a video, super informative and your floor looked great. Thanks for the information.
Thanks! My floor has a supporting role in all my videos now.
Thanks Jeff, I wish I saw this video 6 months ago before replacing carpet flooring by laminate.
I like idea with corking to reduce sound.
IT did reduce it significantly, you can still hear it a bit but before every step was clearly audible downstairs
Brilliant work, and your timing is perfect; we're converting my spare bedroom into an office for my fiance next week!!!
Glad it was helpful just in time!
Another great video. I especially like your how-to videos, because they're real: you take us through doing an actual job, instead of showing us how to 'do something' in a 20,000 sq ft workshop with millions of dollars worth of tools. It's also what I like about the Stud Pack channel. But I especially enjoy your channel because you explain things like an engineer.
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm glad you appreciate the real-world approach in my how-to videos.
Really good video. I'm doing LVP in a bathroom and a lot of this knowledge transfers.
Glad it was helpful!
@@jeffostroff I don't see the link for the CA adhesive you used.
Nevermind, just saw it!
That kitty cat painting is amazing, please tell me you're the artist
Another great video Jeff, now I know what to look for while having someone install my hard wood flooring. I don't mind paying the cost, because it's a demanding job. Nobody wants short cuts, and F- ups.
Right on
I like the cat painting
Yes 3 cats in the house
Very nice man
Thank you so much!
Thank you for a great, informative, easy-to-follow video. It's too bad this wasn't out several years ago when my husband replaced cheap carpet with laminate flooring.
We had no idea about half the stuff you showed us. The floors look OK, and he worked very hard, but I'm not terribly impressed. I almost wish we still had the cheap carpet. I have to give the guy credit though - he did try.
Glad it was helpful!
Though it retired, I still have the reversible jamb saw I'd used for years; so many cuts.
I love this Robertson saw it is awesome
Sure wish you were in Oklahoma. I’m getting some work done at my house. The guy doing the work is a quality guy, just wish you could have done the work and I could know 100% that it is done correctly.
Thanks for the video Jeff! What brand is the two part CA adhesive/activator you used for the miter joints @ 26:54?
Here is the link to it on amazon, the exact kit I ordered: amzn.to/3SLRvZS
Do you have fil that doing on stairs
Good video 👍in the uk we have proper walls 👍 no crappy wooden walls 🤣
Jeff, which kind of glue do you use for baseboard? Also, maybe I missed- do you bond cork underlayment to the subfloor, or it’s floating? Thanks.
Yes, you must bond the cork to the subfloor using Roberts 7250 Cork Underlayment Adhesive: homedepot.sjv.io/jr3936 For the baseboards you want to use Dap Dynaflex 230 Window, Door, and Trim Sealant homedepot.sjv.io/da0MWq on the top of the baseboards, because over years I found it remains white. The others fade quickly to an unpleasant off-white color. I use 18 gauge brad nails to secure the baseboards to the wall through the studs.
@@jeffostroff thanks Jeff, and what do you use to bond baseboard corners?
When I put laminate flooring on top of our squeaky floor from the 60s, i drove about 400 screws (120mm) into the beams right through the boards. There was no sub floor, the existing hardwood was veneired flooring boards 20mm thick. Subfloor and finished product in one... Unfortunately impossible to fix squeaks after the fact. I looked at it as the new subfloor, and went from there.
Someone been hitting the gym....looking healthy man
Thanks Rocos, yes been hitting it hard lately
I used llaminate which is made and installed by Llamas
So you just spread the self leveling around and it levels its self you don’t need to go back and check with a level or anything or play with it ?
I rake it into place and i levels itself out. IT is still wet so you cannot check it with a level until it dries in 4 hours.
Great job Jeff but don't see the glue your using ?

I had no idea a stud finder could find studs through plywood!!
This one seemed to do ok
@@jeffostroff looks like the one I got from Sams
what up Jeff
Thanks for stopping by tonight Rick!

You on day rate I guess mate...🤣
I hate my laminate flooring. I'd rather have sheet vinyl.
Vinyl is worse it has a bad feel to it. IF you get 1/2" thick higher quality laminate it will look nice and feel good to walk on. The underlayment is an important part of that comfort feel.
@@jeffostroff I disagree, the installers of mine didn't realize that my dishwasher would no longer fit & that my doors would rub the flooring & the seals near the outer doors is not water-resistant so moisture can more easily get under the laminate & keep the subfloor wet for longer. I wish I could get my money back but kicking that horrible flooring company out of my house & trashing this 12mm flooring is probably what I'll end up with.
Mdf baseboard 😂😂😂😂 what a hack
A floor not secured to the FlLOOR
ISNT FLOORING ITS OVERPRIZED TEMPORARY FLOOR COVERING. A WOOL ORIENTAL RUG LASTS LONGER. Until its improved
It is what it is. Crap. Temporary crap.
