the freightliner classic xl was on of the best freightliner models all the time, the successor, freightliner coronado is not a full classic truck. the freightliner coronado is based on the century class chassis which is lighter and flexible
the classic xl was know for its stability with heavy loads and its present over the roads which stands out.
this truck was made made pretty cheap but that was the reason why owner operator loved it and still up to day.

One of the best trucks I've ever driven, never let us stranded unlike the 2012 cascadia. I will miss driving it, too bad California emissions wrote it off early.
He's talking about comfortability as a company driver. Drivers don't care about reliability or expenses but as an owner operator, this truck is probably the best truck you can get. Affordable parts and reliability with the flat nose and big cab room.
Freightliner classics are the best truck ever came and that will ever be

Very well done mate great video, we have three FLB's in Australia all going well and all with Detroit 60 series.
This guy made a 25 minute of just shutting on one of the best trucks made lol. Sure it doesn't have the modern gadgets but if you're an owner operator, the least gadget it has the better bc that means less things will break.

Love the old school. All issues you brought up are easy fixes. Mainly mechanical/less electronic/computer issue to stick it in your @$$😆. Great video
holes in cylinder sleeves is usually cavitation from old coolant

My dad has 2000 classic xl owner op specs all the original dash still in great condition the truck runs smooth comfortable lots of space n14 cummins 525 with a 13 speed great truck the problem with the truck you're in is that it wasn't properly taken care of that's why it's Falling apart maybe if you actually take care of things they last 🤷♂️ how about do a actual review in a well taken care of not this bucket

Is it easy to get your truck stuck...when there is no trailer on?
I have a 2000 classic xl and the suspension is so stiff that it will get stuck if there is a crown in the road.

I miss air wipers the old fld had, those were super fast in rain storms. detroit 60s designed by general motors can go 1.6million miles or more, the only other engine that can beat this engine in durability is the cat engine, the cat engine seem to use more fuel than this engine.

I have 1997 freighter classic xl I have brakes problems i change every thing still I have the same issue I change all brake shoes chamber dram foot valve still I have the same issue

Brother can you make a video about California emission rules? I have a N14 engine truck and idk I can get a load from there or I can bring it to there. Nobody knows exactly what it is. My truck Registration is out of Cali. Thanks for the your work. You're the best

fatih18usa34 that’s my understanding, old trucks don’t necessarily mean no emissions. EPA started regulating in 2003

Me personal i had 3 old freightshakers. 96 fld short hood with cat engine no jake brakes that's why i got rid of it. Classic xl 98 sold it because of stupid CA carb regulations in 2010 Detroit engine. 95 fld with cat 3406b to me the best engine i ever had. But yes their to noisy especially the dash. Those trucks never left me stranded n like i call them money makers. Everything that get old goes bad.
I own an international with the isx..sometimes I wish I would of gotten something with a 60 series..cheaper to repair and good engines..if you had to choose what would you get out of the big 3?
Final conclusion:… “Sheep truck”???
