It might just be me, but aren't the people who complain about disconnect between wacky school drama and political fighting behind the scenes... kinda missing the point? You mention the old dude calling out the whole setup as silly, and ye, it is. The whole idea to me seems to me to show that the spoilt rich kids at the academy who live sheltered lives are protected from the "real world" and instead have their own construct with duels and silly shit, while adults know it to be a farce and are just using it to their own ends if not ignoring it outright.
Episode 6 drove the point home quite strongly with what happened at the end. The silly school premise is a fragile bubble surrounded by oceans of horror.

@@HubiKoshi I think episode 6 could serve as a the turning point for the series and the tone. We all know that the Gundam series' can ramp up for very fast and very dark. The contrast between the school drama and outside world are drastic for a purpose I assume, so the question is what happens when that bubble pops and the school directly face with the oceans of horror.
I really didn’t feel the disconnect in the prologue, it’s just actually creepy a kid accidentally killed some people, first viewing was pure shock, every viewing after I can make a joke about it
Only the real OGs caught it. The audio is all the same, but I did cut and rearrange some stuff to make it flow better, as well as fixed some of the footage to match and flow better. Changed some music too. It’s fun to try and figure out what exactly was changed by comparing and contrasting.

Despite the Eri theory, I still believe that Aerial is still more like the ALICE system from the Superior Gundam in Sentinal (haven't read, just seen a lot of info on them). Much like ALICE, the GUND-ARM imprints on the pilot, Eri/Suletta, which is why Suletta responds to Aerial pulsing in episode 1 (though ALICE cannot actually communicate with their paired pilot). I like kakarot197's explanation of the short story making the theory just not make much sense. TLDR: I personally think that Lfrith/Aerial are able to negate data storms by basically emphatically bonding with their pilots, hence all the humanization of them.
That's an interesting theory I hadn't even considered. That could lead to a good scene later on down the line when the gund-bit thing is officially revealed.

At least, the Mother in the cockpit with does not feel uncomplicated good about it and I'm inclined to agree with her. It seemed to me like the tonal swings and dissonance were intentional, contextualizing combat that kills people not just as action spectacle but as ugly and violent, which is a deeply Gundam thing to do.
I think we just have to wait for the second season and I think a lot more will be revealed. It tried the lull us into a false sense of security by being about school and seeming like a normal anime. But then that ending came out of left field. And it shows how even the most innocent of people can become weapons if manipulated.

i think you miss alot of things , i think you need the short web novel which is canon story about eri/sulleta (not sure yet ) journey and experience in mercury and aerial alive and aware , the reason why our main character is in school is because she is just a tool for revenge from lady prosperra and she took advantage of her wanting to go to school and aerial is rather concerned for our character fate
WfM homely lacks many things that makes a Gundam, a Gundam. 1. It doesn’t have an actual big War, only small conflicts. 2. It has no real big mobile armor fight (a mobile armor that can destroy a town/city). 3. The masked figure (the mom) doesn’t fight the protagonist in a mobile suit fight. 4. The story ends in an unsatisfying way. All the antagonists are redeemed, and no one faces any consequences, and somehow it all just ends in a happy ending. 5. The main character doesn’t develop much (but that’s not a new thing in Gundam), Sulleta remains the same throughout the series, and the only change she goes through is go from a good girl who listens to her mom to a girl who disobeys her mom. Also her love story with Miorine barely develops, and we barely see them spend time together. They just feel together for the sake of the plot. 6. No world-building (we don’t even see Mercury) 7. Rushed story with so many unexplained stuff. And the ending eliminated any possibility for a sequel.

Personally, I'm of the opinion that the whole "Weapons shouldn't kill people, people should kill people" bit was mostly a bs pretense he cooked up to keep the development of Gundams from upsetting the current industrial power structure. Also I'm in agreement with being reluctant to agree with the Ariel=Eri theory. On the one hand it would make for a very interesting twist to have Suletta learn that her best friend is made from her biological sister, but at the same time it would be almost excessively grim.

Eri is Suletta. The short novel basically stated it. Eri and her Mom adopted aliases in order to live on Mercury. Sometime between the prologue and Ep 1, Suletta’s mom built Aerial. My thing is that Eri/Suletta’s power is attributed to being bombarded by Permet radiation since the space station was full of the mineral being processed. It’s akin to Setsuna’s evolution into an Innovator.

Honestly, if this wasn't a Gundam series I don't think I would have started watching it and I don't think I will keep doing so, I just don't like this whole "battle school" premise. About 90% of anime are set in a god damn high school and now even Gundam is and it's not even a officer academy or military training facility, it's basically Mobile Suit Hogwarts/Duel Academy/U.A/a list that could go on forever.
Love your vid man. Feel like people are afraid to talk shit about this show because the protagonist are heavily hinted at being gay and don't want to appear homophobic. That or the gorgeous animation brainwashes people into believing the show is amazing.
Usually if anime is bad I'll say that it's bad. I'll talk up the nice things about it first though to ease people into it, but for this particular show it just had way too many glaring flaws. It was still a decent ride tho.

There is a prologue episode in the official Gundam RUclips channel. It happens "13" years ago but recent revelations indicate it was actually 21 years ago and sets-up why Gundams are banned in this universe.
Yup, this is the kind of channel that goes into my "Do Not Recommend" option on RUclips. Snarky commentary doesn't make you cool nor edgy, my dude, just reinforces that you can't look beyond your preconceptions and try something new. I'd imagine JRPGs would make for really challenging stuff for you to tackle narratively speaking.

They were my best performing, but then I did the stupid thing and tested something different and uploaded them on days other than Sunday/Monday on top of not covering the most recent eps so they tanked. I'd imagine that next week, when I cover the actual episode the day it airs, things will be better again and that this one only did poorly because there was no ep and because it's just a compilation of all my other videos. If not, though, then yeah unfortunately they're gonna get cut from the line-up.

It’s not something you lead with, but instead throw in later on which, if you ignore the prologue, is exactly what episode 1 onward did. The main series had the issue of mixing its seriousness and silliness, but they found that perfect balance in episode 6 as it was great. It’s not that I don’t care about the political stuff. It’s quite opposite because I like the silly villain, but starting with a meeting and silly technobabble is 💤. If you’re gonna lead with it, at least make it impactful and exciting like Geass’ first episode did. And, at least your honest lol. A lot of people get ass blasted over something I said and just get bullied rather than opening up a conversation and finding out why I said it. These videos are to make people laugh and have a discussion after all.

Eri is Suletta. The short novel basically stated it. Eri and her Mom adopted aliases in order to live on Mercury. Sometime between the prologue and Ep 1, Suletta’s mom built Aerial. My thing is that Eri/Suletta’s power is attributed to being bombarded by Permet radiation since the space station was full of the mineral being processed. It’s akin to Setsuna’s evolution into an Innovator.
FINALLY! Someone who has an actual info. I really don't like the theory that Eri =/= Suletta, it just doesn't make sense. Even Elan No.4 was someone else who got modified to be Elan's double, WHICH ARE NOT CLONES.
why did the anime say the series (suletta, 17) took place 21 years from the prolouge (era 4) if it's not intentional then the anime has hella plot holes ☠

Honestly, if this wasn't a Gundam series I don't think I would have started watching it and I don't think I will keep doing so, I just don't like this whole "battle school" premise. About 90% of anime are set in a god damn high school and now even Gundam is and it's not even a officer academy or military training facility, it's basically Mobile Suit Hogwarts/Duel Academy/U.A/a list that could go on forever.

Usually if anime is bad I'll say that it's bad. I'll talk up the nice things about it first though to ease people into it, but for this particular show it just had way too many glaring flaws. It was still a decent ride tho.

Yup, this is the kind of channel that goes into my "Do Not Recommend" option on RUclips. Snarky commentary doesn't make you cool nor edgy, my dude, just reinforces that you can't look beyond your preconceptions and try something new. I'd imagine JRPGs would make for really challenging stuff for you to tackle narratively speaking.

They were my best performing, but then I did the stupid thing and tested something different and uploaded them on days other than Sunday/Monday on top of not covering the most recent eps so they tanked.
I'd imagine that next week, when I cover the actual episode the day it airs, things will be better again and that this one only did poorly because there was no ep and because it's just a compilation of all my other videos. If not, though, then yeah unfortunately they're gonna get cut from the line-up.

I do. There’s nothing wrong with politics either as I enjoyed them in ep 6. Leading with them in the opening minutes of the prologue is the issue.
@@To-To I think it’s a good way to set the tone and stakes for this series and the big players/manipulators of the actual story who have agency within this universe. There would be no plot without the machinations of these governing bodies.
BUT, I do understand everyone likes the Gundam series’ for different aspects. I was just clutching my pearls cause that’s specifically why I love Gundam lol
@@justinberry6411 you’re not wrong, it just leading with it that’s the issue. We don’t know any of these characters yet and have no reason to be invested in their silly political squabbles. It’s not something you lead with, but instead throw in later on which, if you ignore the prologue, is exactly what episode 1 onward did. The main series had the issue of mixing its seriousness and silliness, but they found that perfect balance in episode 6 as it was great.
It’s not that I don’t care about the political stuff. It’s quite opposite because I like the silly villain, but starting with a meeting and silly technobabble is 💤. If you’re gonna lead with it, at least make it impactful and exciting like Geass’ first episode did.
And, at least your honest lol. A lot of people get ass blasted over something I said and just get bullied rather than opening up a conversation and finding out why I said it. These videos are to make people laugh and have a discussion after all.
