Captin, your guitar sling'n has come such a long way, in such a short time. Congrats! Chuck Norris used to be my hero. He is no more. YOU are. Rock on, dawg.
Never disliked an Andertons video, but I really like the subtle changes. The Captain has improved, and Chappers has reined in his amazeballs noodling just enough. Packed with info and entertaining. You guys are my favourite GAS ignition system!
oh thank god for the shorter intro! it gets annoying hearing the same intro a couple hundred times, i never understood the need for an intro on youtube anyway lol
Dan Shea Yes! Bring it to Cleveland! No better place for Andertons to have their first USA store than the home of the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame! And it's within driving distance of Nashville and Memphis! Where real music is made
This is by far the best sounding video and i've heard most of them with the HB setups, I'm not usually a Chappers fan but what came out in this video was inspiring.
Really love these videos, Rob is a wonderful guitarist, always up for a laugh, very knowledgeable and never has a bad word for anyone. The captain, well he's just pure gold isn't he. Keep up the good work guys and for giving me something to spend my money on!
Worst thing I ever did was find you two dummies on youtube because I run out and buy everything you guys demo. $20000,US later I have decided to learn how to play guitar. Thanks and your bill is in the mail or Post or however you Brits say it. Love you guys and the Bier too. Keep it up "sounds like" ill be spending more cash..... rock on ....... PEACE.
I`ve had a les paul for the last 20 years but man oh man , when I hear the clean tone and the dynamics coming from the neck single coil pickup of a strat I just melt ! Im getting me an elite shawbucker strat with the sunburst and rosewood fingerboard.
+Rob Chapman did you know watching chappers and the cap videos actually instills a psycho-tele-kinetic link in your mind. the tele stands for telecaster, the psycho is the movie about the murder, and the kinetic is the type of energy......this has been an educational broadcast
The video quality was top notch on this today, all the great editing and alternate camera angles as well as the great demos all add together to make a great video. Keep it up guys!
Just bought the Elite Tele yesterday. First thing I did was get a screwdriver and some wood oil and rolled the fingerboard shoulders and rounded them off. They were a little sharp to my liking. The best neck ever imo is the EVH Wolfgang US arch top but this one after rounding is right up there. Very easy to play. I have over 50 guitars and this is only my 2nd Tele as I play mostly 70s-80s rock. But after being allowed to take it home and test drive it on about 8 different amps, heads from Marshals,5150,Mesa and a few original Fender late 50s tweeds it very much a rock n roll guitar. Especially the middle position with the switch engaged. A+
Call me a liar, but I wouldn't own a thinline tele for any reason. If I ever, EVER, considered a semi hollow I think the tele would be pretty far down the list. Gibson, Gretsch, and even deusenburg (misspelled) appeal more to me than the thinline. It just looks like a country guitar and that's not my thing. If I ever sold out and played in a country band, I'd still play a strat. If I'm ever gifted a thinline I'll give you a great deal on it.
My best Tele is a MIM Tele, a 72 reissue Thinline. The sound is so woody and it plays better than any other Tele I have tried, even Custom Shop ones...
Thanks Finn V. Arthur. But have you seen these Pedals in the video? I know about his regular drive pedals, but I was curious if he used another one in this video.
I clicked on the video to see Lee playing a Tele. Thought I was staying for the sweet tones. Realized I was staying for Lee's AMAZING playing with those sweet tones.
Funny how Fender can make changes to an historic instrument like the Tele and everyone embraces them . Gibson does the same thing with the 2015 Les Paul's and gets slammed for it. Gibson seems to have become the Harley Davidson of the guitar world. Strangled from progressing by their own client base. BTW the hangtag made the difference in the tone. Baffling the tonal vibrations from reflecting off the shiny unwound stringage. I have now installed hangtags on all of my guitars although sadly not Anderton tags, so I'm not quite there. ;)
That switch to go straight to the humbucker is a great idea! It's giving you the L*s P*ul thing where you can be on the neck pickup, volume down a little for some nice rhythm playing, then with one flick or the selector the switch you can be on the bridge pickup at full volume. Very useful. Keep up the great reviews chaps (and caps), they are always fun and informative.
Ben Sparks It's actually an original riff Rob wrote, he named it _Empire State Forshamed_ or something along those lines, you can find a tutorial on how to play it in his _Rock Hybrid Picking Riffs_.
I've got the Tele and it really is the best playing guitar I own and I've got Strats, Pauls and RGs. Also, by far, the cleanest sound right out of the box. Those noiseless are no joke. Sometimes I can't tell if my amp is on!
"My vibrato is so unbelievably good, that I can play chords on an out of tune guitar and using the power of my mind, bring the strings into tune". Nice!
Thanks guys. This is the review I've been waiting for. Since I first saw the elites in the Namm footage I've been saving up. I want the same shawbucker strat that Rob is playing.
Here I'm drinking a mojito and watching you guys, just arrive from work! Great as always! Thank you for all the videos and the dedication! I will love to visit Guildford and leave at lease some present for you two.! I apologies for my english. Best Nabil
The Fender elite stratocaster SSS has a setting with all 3 in SERIES. That is very different from modding a traditional SSS Strat to have all 3 in parallel. You simply wire either the neck or bridge pickup to a switch or push pull pot to turn it on at any time. It gives 7 options, the additional options of all 3 in parallel and neck and bridge in parallel. Sigler music sells 7 way wiring harnesses for 50 dollars. All 3 in parallel is the cleanest and quackiest setting you can get. My favorite parallel setting is neck and bridge. Very full and percussive sounding.
Great review! You really show the different tones of each guitar, the changes and upgrades to these models AND being really funny, informative and interesting at the same time! You have the best reviews. I am a happy and satisfied subscriber!
Everybody who is subbed to Rob Chapman is probably also subbed to Jared Dines and Rob Scallon and all the other guys. Its basically a youtube community.
I love how Rob was eyeing the Stratocaster Elite SSS (for awhile actually) and just “HAD” to take it over. I agree with him, I love the new Stratocaster Elite SSS. Just picked one up 😊
The Captains quotes of dodgyness 1) It's more like the arse... But, it's nice. 2) You would adjust the action in the nut hole... 3) And this is what Fender would call a butt adjuster. BTW, that was a really cool tip from Chappers regarding the neck relief.
Way to keep getting better while keeping it fun and personable. Capt. Lee I know you love Strats but your technique always seems so much more vibrant on a Tele. I'm not all things Tele, though I do love them, it just seems that Teles show off what you do the best. Thanks for the vids.
I have the Butterscotch Blonde Elite Tele. This guitar was absolutely worth the buy! I play on an Orange PPC412 cab and a Rockerverb 100 MKIII and man I have the tone I've always dreamed of having. Long story short, you definitely get what you pay for with this guitar.
Checking relief on both E strings is sufficient. Fret the 1st and last frets and check at 12th fret. Some people fret the 1st and 17th and check the 7th. The width of a business card is usually sufficient. You may want more if you tune down, use thin strings, and/or pick very hard.
If I were going to buy a Strat, this would be it. The tonal options are immense with the HSS configuration, S-1 and bypass switching. Awesome. The only additions I would want to see would be [1] LSR nut and [2] body routing to allow for trem upswing. That would then be as perfect as a Strat could get IMO. Shame it's been discontinued - nice one Fender. The Ultra not as versatile - got rid of the bypass switch (what were they thinking ???), moved the truss rod adjustment back up to the headstock (bad move, ask any EBMM owner :-))
I had an S-1 System on my Am. Dlx. Strat in 2004. I hated it, and to my dismay it stopped working about 1 year later. The normal unactivated sounds are great though. I really like the new series from Fender! sound awesome!
Not to nit pick, but when checking relief, placing your thumb around the 15th fret is a more accurate test. On most guitars (electric), this is where the truss rod will stop effecting the relief of the neck as it's either connecting or very close to connecting with the body. Then tapping on the string around the 6-7th fret gives you a better measure of the actual relief in the neck.
Thanks for introducing me to D'addario strings. Just changed a set on my guitar myself and damn it sounds awesome. It sounds brighter compared to the strings before it. And good job with the videos, especially the reviews
That Tele solo near the end was incredible
Cpt Lee has really come on as a tone monster in these last 6 or so months. Can really tell he's been playing.
+Hampton Timm
My thought exactly!
+Hampton Timm
agree dude, listen to those double stops at 33:18
sick.
Those Teles are beyond stunning! Another awesome video great job!
i dont know about you guys but i love it when foreigners imitate the american accent. i think its hilarious not offensive
I'll never get any good at guitar because I just sit here watching you guys..
This is the best line of shows for Anderton's. Two great perspectives on tone and innuendos, gags, and badassery galore!
To me the Solid TELE was by far the Best sounding
One of my favorite reviews so far and not because of the product but all the little bits of cap and chap chemistry going on... cheers to you both
swear to god the captain gets better every video. tasty jams!
In my opinion the best playing I've heard from these two doing one of the videos
oh thank god for the shorter intro! it gets annoying hearing the same intro a couple hundred times, i never understood the need for an intro on youtube anyway lol
Nice to see you can see the progression of the licks Lee's played time and time again into something so much more tastier. Great playing.
That tele is seriously gorgeous.
I could listen to you guys improvise for hours
Man if only I was rich I'd buy all the guitars I want. Very nice bright sound great finish.
same
Man, its emotional to see these guys together. Why did they have to break apart? One of the great friendships of the youtube era.
Why don't you two start a band, and call it The Andertones?
+mikegerrish ...or The Ander Stones.....
Lenny Henry Thank You! I always knew you and Ainsley Harriott were the same person!! :)
+mikegerrish The Chaptains! lol but on serious note, they should call it The Captain and Chappers Blues Band or The Chapman and Andertons Blues Band
+plantagenant fuck off you don't even get it douche
+plantagenant fucking low life piece of shit
That tip about adjusting truss rods was excellent! What a great little trick.
Pleaseeeee open a store in the us it'd be so popular
They would easily triple profits in the first year I guarantee.
Dan Shea Yes! Bring it to Cleveland! No better place for Andertons to have their first USA store than the home of the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame! And it's within driving distance of Nashville and Memphis! Where real music is made
Mike Paoletta half of their viewers are American anyway- also a good number of people hate guitar center they'd get a ton of business
Dan Shea Couldn't agree more! I'd love to have an Andertons here so I could stop giving GC my money.
Dan Shea they have a store that carries the same stock here, it's riff city
This is by far the best sounding video and i've heard most of them with the HB setups, I'm not usually a Chappers fan but what came out in this video was inspiring.
I'm usually indifferent to the slew of samey Fender stuff... but holy shit, that Tele is beautiful.
Really love these videos, Rob is a wonderful guitarist, always up for a laugh, very knowledgeable and never has a bad word for anyone. The captain, well he's just pure gold isn't he. Keep up the good work guys and for giving me something to spend my money on!

danielgw1964 you can send me all the shit you don’t like or need. Thx!!
I`ve had a les paul for the last 20 years but man oh man , when I hear the clean tone and the dynamics coming from the neck single coil pickup of a strat I just melt !
Im getting me an elite shawbucker strat with the sunburst and rosewood fingerboard.
CHAPPERS!! PLEASE BRING BACK CHAPPERS TV!!!! MISS THAT STUFF SO MUCH
Filming one today!! You are psychic
+Rob Chapman awesome!
+Rob Chapman haha maaayybbeee.... i predict a chapman guitar giveaway too...??
+Nicholas Galati have we got an answer about chapmeme yet??? please don't get angry I've asked everywhere
+Rob Chapman did you know watching chappers and the cap videos actually instills a psycho-tele-kinetic link in your mind. the tele stands for telecaster, the psycho is the movie about the murder, and the kinetic is the type of energy......this has been an educational broadcast
As much as I learned when you guys talk, that much more I learn when you play. Both about the gear and technique. Thank you guys. Great video. Cheers,
Thanks dudes. you always make me feel better
You guys are getting much better at playing together. I've watched a number of your video's. They are all great and informative.
I can resist everything except temptation.
- Oscar Wilde
The secondary benefits of watching these videos include expanding my vocabulary.
I agree with Rob, the custom shop was Brighter.
The aged cherry Strat with the maple neck is possibly the most beautiful Strat I have ever seen, I need to get one!
that first tune sounds like one of the songs on John Mayer's latest album... pretty cool
The video quality was top notch on this today, all the great editing and alternate camera angles as well as the great demos all add together to make a great video. Keep it up guys!
INTRO CHANGED - ALREADY MISS THE OLD ONE, going to watch older videos next :)
14:44
+manuel tillous what is the name of the song?
+Sebaileyus buffer my muffin...
+anathema this humour, it's all British
Bad day?
I love chappers and the captains jams. I don't know what it is but they always inspire me to play.
16:58 Rob's banter is just hilarious

A strat & tele video and Lee chooses the tele... controversial.
lol.
+Shoes 18:00
I was thinking it and u just said it lol
+Shoes I liked the Tele Thinline because the bridge pickup didn't sound like it was going to slit my throat!!
Lol! But twang sound is cool~
These videos never get old! You guys are the best and very entertaining
the new intro makes me anxious... i fear change...
i like the noise.. it adds character to the guitar and gives it a personality like its alive with a concious and a heartbeat...
I hate that I always watch these videos at work. Can't scratch the itch!
you and me both :'(
I know, right? its the worst!
+Vykk Draygo JUST DO IT, YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO!!!
+Vykk Draygo happens to me everyday too. Kills me
Do it!!! There is always room on the daily agenda for a full blow office guitar solo. Seriously... What could go wrong!?! (Get it on video)
I like it when the captain finger picks. Got a nice rasguedo going on there
There are two types of people who will watch this video. People who want that Telecaster and liars.
agreed
Call me a liar, but I wouldn't own a thinline tele for any reason. If I ever, EVER, considered a semi hollow I think the tele would be pretty far down the list. Great comment but I’d rather have the hss Strat
i agree if i had the money an the skill to play better id definately get both!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
for years i have been watching these two dudes. i love you guys more every day
What drive pedal is Lee using this time?
Would be awesome to see the complete gear in video description and not just the amps.
❤️
+Jan-David Gude He uses the Fulltone Plimsoul a lot, as well as the Lovepedal Stax Master (co-designed by Lee).
Thanks Finn V. Arthur. But have you seen these Pedals in the video? I know about his regular drive pedals, but I was curious if he used another one in this video.
I clicked on the video to see Lee playing a Tele. Thought I was staying for the sweet tones. Realized I was staying for Lee's AMAZING playing with those sweet tones.
i really like these things. ide rather have one of these than a suhr.
Nice solo Captain at 32:50 . First time I went and listened one of your solos 3 times in a row. Good job!

It's about good changes. The new tele is fucking badass. Especially when you love f holes like me
The clean jam from 0:29 on is the best jam I've heard from you guys :D Reminds me of some Californian desert rock. Soooo awesome!
I preferred the old intro, but it has to change some time I guess.
Love the way these play! They make the Fenders sing. I can listen to them all day. One day they may have a bass & drums sit in.
Hi rob, i was wondering if you've ever done a Masterclass in any universities? if not would it ever be something that you'd be interested in??
I have never done that but would possibly be interested :-)
+Rob Chapman Prof.Rob. cool!
+Rob Chapman You should definitely do this!!!! @De Montfort University Leicester!
+Rob Chapman Surrey first stop
+Feli369X how 'bout In America? :)

I've been searching for many moons, what song is this? 14:43
yes please let us know!
Kinda reminds me of Blackfoots- Train, Train
Ben Sparks It's actually an original riff Rob wrote, he named it _Empire State Forshamed_ or something along those lines, you can find a tutorial on how to play it in his _Rock Hybrid Picking Riffs_.
Darude - Sandstorm
Gábor Benedek Thank you, I have been enlightened.
I've got the Tele and it really is the best playing guitar I own and I've got Strats, Pauls and RGs. Also, by far, the cleanest sound right out of the box. Those noiseless are no joke. Sometimes I can't tell if my amp is on!
We need to see a Rob & the Captain's favorite jams album, please.
"My vibrato is so unbelievably good, that I can play chords on an out of tune guitar and using the power of my mind, bring the strings into tune". Nice!
Tasty tunes Captain...
Thanks guys. This is the review I've been waiting for. Since I first saw the elites in the Namm footage I've been saving up. I want the same shawbucker strat that Rob is playing.
Are we skipping the faded les pauls then?
Finally. My favourite new line of guitars this year.
nice to see rob has taken the tea towel off his head
Here I'm drinking a mojito and watching you guys, just arrive from work! Great as always! Thank you for all the videos and the dedication! I will love to visit Guildford and leave at lease some present for you two.! I apologies for my english. Best Nabil
I actually kinda want to buy a guitar painted like the swatch pic! lol

dam!!! rob can play the guitar really well....one of the best on the reviews that I have seen
Captain America: I like teles better honestly
Iron Man: I like strats better..
CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR
Finally a Fender strat with added value! I would buy one...
25:24 the riff that tells you chappers is playing a tele
+Igor Sekulic what is that riff i want to learn it so damn bad
+Trae Robin I don't know sadly but I had managed to do a pretty similar riff off of just listening only I'm sorry I don't have any tab :/
+Igor Sekulic Type in rob chapman chicken picking guitar lesson ;) you're welcome
Great review! You really show the different tones of each guitar, the changes and upgrades to these models AND being really funny, informative and interesting at the same time! You have the best reviews. I am a happy and satisfied subscriber!

Fuck off !
I love how Rob was eyeing the Stratocaster Elite SSS (for awhile actually) and just “HAD” to take it over. I agree with him, I love the new Stratocaster Elite SSS. Just picked one up 😊
The Captains quotes of dodgyness
1) It's more like the arse... But, it's nice.
2) You would adjust the action in the nut hole...
3) And this is what Fender would call a butt adjuster.
BTW, that was a really cool tip from Chappers regarding the neck relief.
+James Lewis They were so close to contrasting Nuthole with butthole, I don't know how it didn't happen.
the inside of a top end strat case.... once a year I go into the attic and open the case, feel the fur and smell.... it's magic
aesthetically i still like the neckstock-nut-hole more than the butt-nut
+fdre3wsd I agree. If I'm spending over £1K the guitar has to look exactly right to me and these don't.
Way to keep getting better while keeping it fun and personable. Capt. Lee I know you love Strats but your technique always seems so much more vibrant on a Tele. I'm not all things Tele, though I do love them, it just seems that Teles show off what you do the best. Thanks for the vids.
Love watching Chappers and the Captain. It's like watching a couple of mates!

Shame it's been discontinued - nice one Fender. The Ultra not as versatile - got rid of the bypass switch (what were they thinking ???), moved the truss rod adjustment back up to the headstock (bad move, ask any EBMM owner :-))
great jam session guys. That telecaster at the end looks fantastic, I'm a sucker for the light colored binding on a tele.
My goodness that Red Tele with the Pearl pickguard and white binding is so beautiful.
loving the new intro! much less faff before the video 👍
instantly fell in love with that amazing tele!!!
I had an S-1 System on my Am. Dlx. Strat in 2004. I hated it, and to my dismay it stopped working about 1 year later. The normal unactivated sounds are great though.
I really like the new series from Fender! sound awesome!
Captain, I like the way you play !! And Chappers, cool and impresive playing... Thanks
Not to nit pick, but when checking relief, placing your thumb around the 15th fret is a more accurate test. "It's just a brighter buzz" BEST DAMN LINE OF THE WHOLE VIDEO!!
I must say Captain, your opening salvo was quite tasty on that tele. Bravo.
That red tele sounds phenomenal!!!
Really liked that Thineline's tone, especially with the drive pedal.
You two have THE best jam sessions on RUclips.
Thanks for introducing me to D'addario strings. Just changed a set on my guitar myself and damn it sounds awesome. It sounds brighter compared to the strings before it. And good job with the videos, especially the reviews
