Never disliked an Andertons video, but I really like the subtle changes. The Captain has improved, and Chappers has reined in his amazeballs noodling just enough. Packed with info and entertaining.
You guys are my favourite GAS ignition system!

Just bought the Elite Tele yesterday. First thing I did was get a screwdriver and some wood oil and rolled the fingerboard shoulders and rounded them off. They were a little sharp to my liking. The best neck ever imo is the EVH Wolfgang US arch top but this one after rounding is right up there. Very easy to play. I have over 50 guitars and this is only my 2nd Tele as I play mostly 70s-80s rock. But after being allowed to take it home and test drive it on about 8 different amps, heads from Marshals,5150,Mesa and a few original Fender late 50s tweeds it very much a rock n roll guitar. Especially the middle position with the switch engaged. A+

Call me a liar, but I wouldn't own a thinline tele for any reason. If I ever, EVER, considered a semi hollow I think the tele would be pretty far down the list. Gibson, Gretsch, and even deusenburg (misspelled) appeal more to me than the thinline. It just looks like a country guitar and that's not my thing. If I ever sold out and played in a country band, I'd still play a strat.
If I'm ever gifted a thinline I'll give you a great deal on it.

Funny how Fender can make changes to an historic instrument like the Tele and everyone embraces them . Gibson does the same thing with the 2015 Les Paul's and gets slammed for it. Gibson seems to have become the Harley Davidson of the guitar world. Strangled from progressing by their own client base.
BTW the hangtag made the difference in the tone. Baffling the tonal vibrations from reflecting off the shiny unwound stringage. I have now installed hangtags on all of my guitars although sadly not Anderton tags, so I'm not quite there. ;)

That switch to go straight to the humbucker is a great idea! It's giving you the L*s P*ul thing where you can be on the neck pickup, volume down a little for some nice rhythm playing, then with one flick or the selector the switch you can be on the bridge pickup at full volume. Very useful. Keep up the great reviews chaps (and caps), they are always fun and informative.

The Fender elite stratocaster SSS has a setting with all 3 in SERIES. That is very different from modding a traditional SSS Strat to have all 3 in parallel. You simply wire either the neck or bridge pickup to a switch or push pull pot to turn it on at any time. It gives 7 options, the additional options of all 3 in parallel and neck and bridge in parallel.
Sigler music sells 7 way wiring harnesses for 50 dollars. All 3 in parallel is the cleanest and quackiest setting you can get. My favorite parallel setting is neck and bridge. Very full and percussive sounding.

    The Captains quotes of dodgyness
    1) It's more like the arse... But, it's nice.
    2) You would adjust the action in the nut hole...
    3) And this is what Fender would call a butt adjuster.
BTW, that was a really cool tip from Chappers regarding the neck relief.

+James Lewis They were so close to contrasting Nuthole with butthole, I don't know how it didn't happen.

+fdre3wsd I agree. If I'm spending over £1K the guitar has to look exactly right to me and these don't.

Way to keep getting better while keeping it fun and personable. Capt. Lee I know you love Strats but your technique always seems so much more vibrant on a Tele. I'm not all things Tele, though I do love them, it just seems that Teles show off what you do the best. Thanks for the vids.

I have the Butterscotch Blonde Elite Tele. This guitar was absolutely worth the buy! I play on an Orange PPC412 cab and a Rockerverb 100 MKIII and man I have the tone I've always dreamed of having. Long story short, you definitely get what you pay for with this guitar.

Checking relief on both E strings is sufficient. Fret the 1st and last frets and check at 12th fret. Some people fret the 1st and 17th and check the 7th. The width of a business card is usually sufficient. You may want more if you tune down, use thin strings, and/or pick very hard.

If I were going to buy a Strat, this would be it. The tonal options are immense with the HSS configuration, S-1 and bypass switching. Awesome. The only additions I would want to see would be [1] LSR nut and [2] body routing to allow for trem upswing. That would then be as perfect as a Strat could get IMO. Shame it's been discontinued - nice one Fender. The Ultra not as versatile - got rid of the bypass switch (what were they thinking ???), moved the truss rod adjustment back up to the headstock (bad move, ask any EBMM owner :-))

great jam session guys. That telecaster at the end looks fantastic, I'm a sucker for the light colored binding on a tele.

I had an S-1 System on my Am. Dlx. Strat in 2004. I hated it, and to my dismay it stopped working about 1 year later. The normal unactivated sounds are great though.
I really like the new series from Fender! sound awesome!

Not to nit pick, but when checking relief, placing your thumb around the 15th fret is a more accurate test. On most guitars (electric), this is where the truss rod will stop effecting the relief of the neck as it's either connecting or very close to connecting with the body. Then tapping on the string around the 6-7th fret gives you a better measure of the actual relief in the neck.

Thanks for introducing me to D'addario strings. Just changed a set on my guitar myself and damn it sounds awesome. It sounds brighter compared to the strings before it. And good job with the videos, especially the reviews
