Otherwise all my electrics are Fender and Gretsch. (My acoustics are Martins and old Guilds) These new American built axes tempt me! Exactly! It bothers me so much when vintage "inspired" instruments have the wrong radius! If you want the whole vintage packet you want the original fretboard radius, even if some people think it´s unplayable... I have weird short but thick fingers with kinda big second joints which makes playing very flat fretboards very unpleasant for me, because my joint is prohibiting me from pushing down correctly all strings. Single strings are fine of course but multiple are annoying. the more rounded radius is amazing for my hands! I even love it in P basses in combination with a nice thick baseball bat neck!

That natural strat with rosewood fretboard and large 70's headstock is my absolutely favourite strat look ever. That with a hardtail bridge and it would be my dream guitar.
@Timdoeswork I know I can block the trem and that's what I would do but It would be better if it didn't have the unnecessary moving parts that I don't want and need. Also I just get a kick out of strats with no tremolo.
@Timdoeswork I know many if not most of the trem systems and stabilizers, I have for example the Super Vee Blade Runner with their Mag-Lok stabilizer and and a custom build 7 string with Floyd Rose and their trem stop. Although they do give good stability, none give, obviously, the same stability than a fixed bridge does. And as I said about the moving parts, now there would be the tremolo system AND the stabilizer. Just an ease of mind kinda thing. And I have build myself, among others, a hardtail reverse strat which is fantastic. I have considered Warmoth build, well, I have several other Warmoth builds in mind. I definitely don't need the Fender on the headstock, but sometimes it's needed for futile phsycological reasons. Like if I want a Yngwie Strat or Zakk Wylde Les Paul, then it just has to be a Fender or Gibson with all the pros and cons that they have.
i get you the 70's strats in natural are beautiful. I played a great one from 77 once but it was with a maple neck and with a tremolo but that thing sounded so good.
The 57 Strat is for me. I remember that style playing so good. Fast and smooth. So glad these came out. Got to have one, I’m a big Clapton fan from across the water here, I got to have that 57. Great review friends. They’re all awesome. 😊
I ordered a 2006 custom shop Clapton that I initially loved, but wound up not playing it all that often, and just this year sold it off and got a brownie 57....that ive been playing a lot more! The necks are very similar, but the Claptons were a bit better with no glossyness. But the 57 grew on me and now I love it. What I really love is the open natural sounding pickups versus the somewhat sterile noiseless pickups. Frankly its so good that I don't miss the treble cut and db boost anymore. Claptons brownie, for that matter, was way closer to this model. In the end, I have to say I like it better. Also bought the 51 Tele which is amazing as well.
I adore the new 50 Hz video options that you guys are using. It's so smooth! Also, I am ordering one of those 63 telecasters! I have been wanting one for a few years, and this one ticks all the boxes! And yes, it's absolutely due to Dan that I want a cherry red telcaster with a rosewood fretboard.

They are probably watching your show right now and wondering why everyone isn't building better guitars than they were building in their 15 year magic period? Or, are they?
Those designs were so amazing that the guitar industry got stuck on them. I reckon Leo and George never expected that after 70 years, most manufacturers are still copying Teles and Strats and JM
Funny you mentioned Paul David’s fiesta red strat. I had been looking for an American made, fiesta red, rosewood board, nitro finish strat because of him for a while. I couldn’t find the right one, so I ordered one from Mario Martin out of Nashville. It’s been about a year, still waiting on it! I’ll have to give these a shot too!
Excited! I missed out on the American Vintage series when it was first introduced, and am not as fond of the newer American Originals series, so am especially looking forward to this new lineup (especially any left-handed models!).
Greeting from across the pond. You guys are awesome. In the early days, the fingerboard radius was all over the place. They were all hand shaped and varied greatly. 7.5" was the most common, but I have played old Teles close to a 9.5" radius that still had the original frets. Can't wait to try this series out. Pete, I want your purple Tele!
Let me just comment on something that has got nothing to do with the guitars... But a lot to do with the Anderton's videos as a whole.. Soooo nice to see (and hear) the continued improvement of Captain Anderton's guitar playing. Soo good now. I really enjoy listening to your opening jams. Both of you are great, guys!!!
Thank you for running through those. It saves those of us hunting a lot of time. For the tone addicted this is a wonderful cornucopia of sound. Again it is much appreciated. May the tone be with you
I have one as well. I liked the neck so much I bought a '51 neck for a project guitar thinking it might be the same. It is a little different, its a bit more beefy than the '52; so similar, but different..... BTW I'm not a parallel fan as a player , so I put in a 4 way switch w both series combos. Grounded Neck thru Bridge is clearer w better bass and treble while ground Bridge is slightly muddier emphasising the mids a little more, w a slightly stronger output. This is the general case for most Tele sets. Fender uses the Bridge thru Neck on models w 4 ways because otherwise you need a separate ground for the plate and the difference isn't huge. I do use both, but either series would be a good addition for a 4 way w parallel in the mix.
Vintage voiced instruments sound best with a hair of gain on it. They are usually lower output, but are very dynamic on lower to medium gain settings. Notice how the 51 Tele and the 57 Strat come alive with the pedals.
Hello peoples, It’s me Billie, I got my 57, the pickups are bright yes, but the perfect sound is when I put 10’s flat-wounds strings, now I’m over joyed, did I want the 61 yes, but v neck makes more vintage to me, 61 is close to the pro II, thank you so much gentlemen, would not know about how wonderful they are,
This is the best video you guys have ever made, i dont know why. But i feel like i am in such a good company watching this while eating dinner. Im only 20 mins into it, and thank you for the amazing pictures of the guitars youre adding now. You guys have the best video camera on the tubes i think (what kind is it btw?), sound is always amazing in this little hut too and now a bit of tasty close ups also added. Absolutely wonderful. I wish i earned more xD I would see to be swimming in these guitars by tomorrow! haha
Beautiful guitars. What do you think is the main difference between the 51 and the 63 telecaster? Beside sounding like a Les Paul and the fact that wood doesn't make a difference of course ;) From the video I would say that the 63 is a bit warmer, the 51 sounds a bit thinner instead?
I wonder the same thing. I actually owned the 51 tele for about 3 weeks and one thing it didn't do was sounding harsh. It had dark, fat sound. So if the 63 is even warmer, I might like it more
@@vyvynylification indeed, I finally got the ‘51 and it’s warm and not thin at all as I thought initially, it’s a very great sounding guitar and I love the sharp attack, like there’s a vintage compressor attached to it ;)
My '57 US vintage reissue strat in candy apple red is still goin strong. 27 yrs after I bought it with my first ever wage packet. I was skint for the rest of the month, but I had the guitar I wanted!
Yay!! Thanks Fender for correcting the “error” you made of going away from specific year models and proper vintage specs (in particular with respect to fingerboard radiuses). I can see myself buying several of these over the next couple of years, especially the 1961 Strat, the 1972 Thinline (especially in LPB! 😍), the 1975 Tele Deluxe and 1977 Tele Custom.
This new range looks and sounds very nice. As wonderful review as always guys 👍 Fender keep reintroducing the Vintage Series, maybe they get closer and closer to those guitars of yore? They certainly didn’t with the last incarnation, the outgoing 1 This new series seems very good but I’m very happy with my old (22 year old) US Vintage Reissue ‘62 and the later ‘65 Strat thanks. I guess for anyone discovering the wonders of these older spec guitars this range will tick all the boxes 😁
Fender keep smashing it out of the park the last few years - tremendous quality 'budget but kind of isn't' range, mid priced options and top end options, they are really embracing their heritage and not phoning it in. Plus the left handed options are rapidly out classing a lot of other brands...
Curious how the American vintage II 61 strat compares to the Andertons FSR Road Worn 60s strat… both have nitro (the road worn being very thin and an already worn neck) and pure vintage pickups (61 vs 59)
Minor historical correction to what Lee was saying - the American Vintage series actually came out in the early ‘80s and continued until a few years ago when it was replaced by the American Original series. Over the years Fender offered different AV models recreating specific years, and specs on them were much closer than the more generalized American Originals. I have an AV ‘62 P-bass that’s very close to the actual early-‘60s P-basses I’ve had the chance to play. And the early Fullerton-built AV instruments are now very sought after and command high prices in their own right.
I got so excited when Lee said at 850k they're giving away a Victory V4 pedal amp! I want one so freaking bad but I can't afford it! Lol! Great video as always, Lee, Pete, & Co.!
1973 Strat in natural with a maple one-piece neck would be my choice, sadly Fender didn't give me that choice. When I was a kid and first getting into guitar, my local shop had a used one just like that. It's why I'm such a fan of the large headstock, too. This one had a custom union jack pickguard (yes I'm from the US). I wanted it so bad but I was like 13 years old and had no money. I probably could have got it at the time for about $200. I should have tried harder (read: been more annoying) with my parents to get it.
I'm with you! I def would like a natural 73 strat with maple fretboard! I got a natural "classic 70s" with maple fretboard and it's been my favorite guitar since ´99 when I bought it. Still i'd buy the one they got with the rosewood, if I had the money, haha! :)
I love the looks of the 51 Tele and the 57 Strat. The colours are perfect. Black guard all the way. The ergonomics of the strat are perfect. But that is as far as my nostalgia goes. I am not a Purist. Give me a 9.5" radius, medium jumbo frets, a soft V neck profile and modern noiseless pickups. I would run them through a Fender Deluxe Reverb ,... Tonemaster,... with my Boss GX-100 for effects. And I am a lot older than these two guys.
I get that, but fender already offers lots of new guitars with noiseless pups, 9.5” radius and med jumbo frets. I think it’s refreshing they went back to the roots, honestly not sure why they discontinued the last vintage series in the first place
What's with the '57 Strat with a five way switch? I happened to acquire a weird '63 Tele from this series. Weird because it has the black pickguard from the '52. The previous owner hadn't bothered to open the accessories package. When I opened it, I found instructions and parts to change the 1963 wiring to modern spec and a modern, six saddle bridge if the original brass saddles aren't your thing. The pickups are quite low output but that can be compensated by turning the amp up/using a boost or overdrive, et cetera. All in all a lovely guitar and a welcome change from the junk I otherwise own. And I acquired it essentially free.
Magnificent range, been waiting for this, the 60’s white for me every day. Can’t wait to get my hands on one to buddy up with my orginal 77 strat i bought when i was 19😂
I’ve been waiting for this for a couple years! They finally did the Telacaster Deluxe 🙌🏻 and the Wine Custom Tele is great! I wish there was a black 61 Strat though.
@ Pete Try a DiMarzio Injector or Virtual solo in the bridge of a strat, they’re powerful and bring the Strat close to a low output Tele bridge pickup. Cheers!
I understand these nitro finish have a poly undercoat? Would they still check like a vintage nitro or thin skin nitro finish if it has the poly undercoat?
A big part of the Jazzmaster sound is also the 1meg pots instead of 250k which you would normally see in a single coil guitar, or 500k that you'd find in humbuckers. These suckers get BRIGHT.
Brilliant video and oh yes, that 61 Strat… Made me consider selling body parts to get my undeserving mits on one. Sadly I’d have to sell body parts as I can’t afford or justify one. However, let’s not end on a negative note. Perhaps a lottery ticket is in order… Until then a dream guitar perhaps… *update* I had a bit of a think and did a little digging around. If you were to go to Guitar Center and purchase one of the 61 Strats it would set you back $2099.99 if you take that figure and convert it into GBP you have a price that's only £7 less than the Andertons price. Now when you consider that US sales tax is only 4 - 7% so not much to take off the export price. Now add on shipping and importation costs and 20% VAT. In short it all suggests to me that Andertons have a fantastic price. It might still be a lot of money for some people, including me, but a round of applause for Andertons please.

I was impressed by the LP Blue Thinline Tele - so I've just bought one from you! New Guitar Day tomorrow!
The FINALLY nailed that classic wide range humbucker sound! Awesome!
Holy those 75 deluxes sound great. Ive been holding out to find a black road worn but I might have to go for this
Pete’s got the best playing instincts I’ve heard in a while. This man should be a STAR!
absolutely love these guys - and the guitars are great too!
Wish they wouldn't 'talk over' each other...
CuNiFe is the magnet not the wire and it stands for Copper Nickle Iron.
Great video as always keep it up!
Thanks for refreshing my memory on that point. I knew I wasn't remembering it quite right as Copper's Iron Knickers! 😺
Hello peoples,
It’s me Billie, I got my 57, the pickups are bright yes, but the perfect sound is when I put 10’s flat-wounds strings, now I’m over joyed, did I want the 61 yes, but v neck makes more vintage to me, 61 is close to the pro II, thank you so much gentlemen, would not know about how wonderful they are,
This is the best video you guys have ever made, i dont know why. I wish i earned more xD I would see to be swimming in these guitars by tomorrow! haha
Cool video the prices go up every day I paid 350.00 for my 1976 strat black ,hardtail ,Whiteface with the black single coils !! Maple finger board.
So if the 63 is even warmer, I might like it more
@@vyvynylification indeed, I finally got the ‘51 and it’s warm and not thin at all as I thought initially, it’s a very great sounding guitar and I love the sharp attack, like there’s a vintage compressor attached to it ;)
I been enjoying your channel for years and just noticed I wasnt subscribed. Thanks for the great content, I wish you were on this side of the pond.
My '57 US vintage reissue strat in candy apple red is still goin strong. 27 yrs after I bought it with my first ever wage packet. I was skint for the rest of the month, but I had the guitar I wanted!
Love the show. Danish Pete is off the rails on this one. Both of you are great.
I like the red one - the Dan Steinhardt sig is the one for me!
U guy always have so much and the show is absolutely amazing and informative!!!David Huntsville Alabama USA.rock on guys love ❤ show !!!
That fiesta red 61 strat is gonna sell like hotcakes in the UK. I can already tell
I have the 61 Strat. Utterly fantastic!
I love the sound of that 61 strat..great playing
That 63’ tele is calling me. Wish i had money for guitars haha. Great playing and great video as always you two.
So thankful you pointed out why the headstocks were darker on this new range. Very helpful.
Great video Andertons, as always ! Are you still planning to do a video about AV II basses ?
I will be watching this one on the big telly!! Excited!!!👍🏼🎸
This new range looks and sounds very nice. As wonderful review as always guys 👍
Fender keep reintroducing the Vintage Series, maybe they get closer and closer to those guitars of yore? They certainly didn’t with the last incarnation, the outgoing 1
This new series seems very good but I’m very happy with my old (22 year old) US Vintage Reissue ‘62 and the later ‘65 Strat thanks. I guess for anyone discovering the wonders of these older spec guitars this range will tick all the boxes 😁
You're right. Any of the Vintage reissues from an era are gonna be great guitars.
Deluxe Tele sounds like a super clear Les Paul with more high end detail. Definitely the best one.
The captain improved a lot. Really enjoyed this one.
The Jazzmaster looks awesome !
Absolutely loved the tele lineup I want a 51 so badly, gosh what great tone.
Save up for one! I had 2 and they're great and imo the best ever looking reissue tele. I personally think the body and neck tints are perfect
Fender keep smashing it out of the park the last few years - tremendous quality 'budget but kind of isn't' range, mid priced options and top end options, they are really embracing their heritage and not phoning it in. Plus the left handed options are rapidly out classing a lot of other brands...
Its nice to see a thinline Tele that actually looks good!
Curious how the American vintage II 61 strat compares to the Andertons FSR Road Worn 60s strat… both have nitro (the road worn being very thin and an already worn neck) and pure vintage pickups (61 vs 59)
They look very nice, especially the 60s teles and strats. The prices of Fender's new ranges go up faster than my wages though.
Best of Fender. Fender is killing it this year. Its 2 months away before New Year and still wondering what Fender will brings.
Jazzmaster is my #1 choice then Tele Deluxe. Can’t wait to try them.
Need more airtime for Jazzmaster, it’s always overlooked, most unique and inspiring tone for me.
Agreed… seems to have its own magic tone unique….. grunge monster in hiding
I am a simple man. I love the Tele at the beginning. All I need is that Tele, a Fender Amp and a Fuzz...
Not really down for spending anything over 1000 on a guitar personally but those Teles and the Jazzmaster are absolutely gorgeous.
Hey Guys, Always a Great Show. I got my Vintage P Bass in 1987. It Soo worn out from gigging all these years.
I got so excited when Lee said at 850k they're giving away a Victory V4 pedal amp! I want one so freaking bad but I can't afford it! Lol! Great video as always, Lee, Pete, & Co.!
Thanks for the upgraded frame rate! It makes such a welcome difference!
If anyone wants a blue or mocha one with a rosewood fingerboard, I guess we could both get the one we want and swap necks. :D
9.5 radius? Soft V? Noiseless pups? You sir, need the Clapton signature Strat 😎
I feel like fender actually listens to their consumers. A nitro finished American guitar at a reasonable price point!? Take my money
Captain, your skills have really come along! My wife thought you were John Mayer!
That was a great initial solo, Captain!
I had the 62 reissue strat in shoreline gold, stunning guitar that I unfortunately had to sell when I was a skint student. I miss that guitar.
28:01 that mahogany bodied Tele sounds similar to many Fender Japan Teles with basswood bodies.
Magnificent range, been waiting for this, the 60’s white for me every day. Can’t wait to get my hands on one to buddy up with my orginal 77 strat i bought when i was 19😂
The 75 Tele deluxe has and always will be my one of my favorite guitars
These guitars are gorgeous 👏👍 They look and sound like $4000 guitars. The 61 olympic white strat is beautiful.
I fancy the Fiesta red
After 2 years I can confirm that it is an incredible guitar!!
Squier classic vibe vs Fender American Vintage II video maybe ??? Hahahaa love u guys ❤
who are they referring to when talking about a certain artist liking the 61' Strat? (17:15)
I’ve been waiting for this for a couple years! They finally did the Telacaster Deluxe 🙌🏻 and the Wine Custom Tele is great! I wish there was a black 61 Strat though.
Awesome filming. Need an Andertons wallpaper with those guitars at the back.
17:17 why couldn't they say who played a '61 Strat? And who was it? Rory Gallagher?
12:32 That moment where the captain got worried about a copyright claim lol
Is it possible to find out what’s on Pete’s board for this vid. Cheers
I want to know what fuzz he is using.
@ Pete
Try a DiMarzio Injector or Virtual solo in the bridge of a strat, they’re powerful and bring the Strat close to a low output Tele bridge pickup.
Perfect timing, I just bought the 50's vintera tele.... any comparison between that and the 51 AV II tele in the future?
I’ve just ordered me the 61 Strat in Olympic white! Can’t wait till it gets here!
Seriously, what type of camera are you guys using? It has amazing clarity and definition!
Brilliant video and oh yes, that 61 Strat… Made me consider selling body parts to get my undeserving mits on one. Sadly I’d have to sell body parts as I can’t afford or justify one. However, let’s not end on a negative note. Perhaps a lottery ticket is in order… Until then a dream guitar perhaps…
*update*
I had a bit of a think and did a little digging around.
Thanks mates! Fender just gets better with the reissue type guitars. Nice!
800,000 subs is right there!
that Jazzmaster looks stunning
Nothing like listening to sweet tones and nice improve with copious amounts of the Captain's moose knuckle in frame!
Curious, of the new Vintage II releases, which is closest to a PLAYER PLUS STRATOCASTER HSS?
