That jam was incredible - you guys complemented each other. Absolutely stunning melodic progressions, runs and such a chill vibe overall right for the kind of sounds that Fenders can do so well. I liked the "Professional" Strat and Butterscotch Tele the best because their tones are so distinct and really shone through. Wish I had a jamming partner who'd pass me guitars like that, going round and round. PS, Pete looks a lot like the Manic Street Preachers singer.
I've watched this video probably 8 times. And tonight I'm finally watching it after I ordered one of these badass Telecasters. I went with the ash 2 tone burst. Thanks guys for the vids!
Guys! Seriously! Your best. Jam. Ever. The chord progression sounded like some descending pedal notes behind an Em, but could you be so kind as to specify?
I bought an American Pro Tele and Strat last year from a local shop. they were NOS from 2017. I think they're great! I love the necks on mine, as well as the pups.
No. Me too. I have one on lay-away at Dietz Music in Omaha, Nebr. White with Rosewood board. Will pay it off on Feb 14,2017`. Rock`On! From Sioux City,Ia.
Pharmer David I wish they did one with the hum in the neck and single in the bridge (and a strat middle, but that’s a dream guitar). I’ve never held a guitar that felt so good. Can’t have it all I guess.
Seems like an awesome upgrade. Definitely hear a tonne of extra brightness and openness. I like the sound of those tall thin frets and chunkier neck. They look nice too!
2 fantastic players, a bunch of fantastic guitars, fantastic jam & approach from the demoers, what more to ask? Great demo guys, I really enjoyed that. As far as the guitars go: that Butterscotch Tele... oh my! That HH Strat... my, my! Cool new line-up from Fender.
I got the antique olive green pro strat last week. Truly splendid. I've played the American Standard for years, love them. The upgrades to the Pro series may seem minor and not worth the price but sit down and play one before you judge. You might be pleasantly surprised...
Harsh?, maybe. Has more punch, I always leave my strats in the quack settings. This guitar gives a healthy dose of quack in position 2 and nice range in position 4. It'll never sound like a '59 but for multiple genre musician it's perfect.
David Ćavar , yeah and that tele she bought for him is so beautiful. This one sounds so good though , I am only just at the beginning of my guitar playing but have promised myself that if I can make some decent progress this year I WILL treat myself to one in the winter sales which I am sure Anderton's shall have next Christmas time.
I have a 2019 American Pro series HSS and being a Gibson and PRS player for the past few year's ,I really love the feel of this guitar. I got the Olive green one and it looks great and sound's great. I love the " Shawbucker" at the bridge for that extra power and it has some really great sustain. I'm a blues player on the heavy side of blues and this guitar fit's the bill perfectly.
With this improved line, Fender is approaching the improvements Leo Fender made to the Strat in his G&L era. Of course, G&L Guitars is still operating.
Fender's also been "innovating" in the footsteps of both Music Man and G&L with their Dimension basses. The active single pickup model is like a Stingray and the 2 pickup passive model is a similar to an L-2000. They are cool basses- I actually own one- they're just not very original designs.
That was fucking awesome. Sorry for the language devolution, but that was *fucking awesome*. If I tried to pick out my favorite snippets, this would just be a mess of numerals and colons. Well done gentlemen.
I think it's down to the ash body (all the other pro's in this vid are alder). Ash and pine are just like OG tele woods for a reason... Leo knew exactly what he was doing and it hasn't been bettered since
The new Strat sounds just like a Strat...played through my dad's 67' Dodge Dart's single speaker AM radio. Really, there's a difference. Have to note, my only Strat has humbuckers and my two Gibson LP's are single coils. I never planned it this way, but odd that it's how it worked out. My obsession has always been with SGs and V's, so the Strat and LPs were real impulse buys.
GigglingDickhead I do...a p90 is a single coil. ...& I've found I really like the sound. I'll admit, it's limited once you start to drive it real hard, but at mid gain and down I personally think they sound sweet.
juusie Yeah, I guess my idea of mid gain is a bit high to some. I do drive them. I do find a point though where I feel I loose some of the "fatness" I love about them. But I believe the LP, P90 combo is more versatile than it's credited by most.
Chances are guys the new frets are 6105's. The "medium jumbo" fret (6130) is as a ratio for every unit wide it is one unit tall, a ratio of 1:1. The new frets are what's known as the "mini jumbo" frets (6105) and they have a ratio of for every unit wide they are two units tall, a ratio of 1:2. Phone up the Fender people and ask them, just might be the case. I know that they at one stage, maybe late 50's, early 60's perhaps, used 6105 fret wire in production, I'm just not sure which model strat.
Thanks for a comprehensive view of the HH Tele. I've been scouring the internet daily for one to see if it might be worth buying, but the vids up so far leave much to be desired. Nice job, keep up the good work. BTW, I'm going to buy one now if I can get a discount somewhere ;)
That new olive color on the pro is sick! I love that pea green 70's color. We had a car in that color in addition to our green phone and green shag carpet.
excellent review.... they both played a little and talked of the differences and then jammed together with different guitars. Reviews don't get better than that.
In best of jams, You have to go for opening jam from Roland 40 jazz chorus. Superb performance both. Greets from Poland, can't wait for another videos Chaps.
Three thoughts here. Mick's playing was above and beyond anything he has done on that pedal show. I am beginning to think that hum buckers have that tone I love for rhythm guitar playing - but single coils still excel for lead guitar style. And last - that telecaster sounded above and beyond the best of all those guitars. Mick should buy that tele and play that from now on that pedal show.
Thank you, kind words! However, it's worth just saying that demoing gear is not performing. It's good to let go sometimes - it was the last video of the year and Pete and I were in jovial mode. But the performance head space is so entirely separate from the demo head space. Which is why you might feel we're not always giving it everything. It would be exhausting and also inappropriate for the demo side of things. Thanks again for the kind words and sorry (I guess) that we can't just turn it on all the time in every video!
I just tried the deluxe Tele one of these...freakin' awesome. I was going to get a Les Paul, but I'm sick of searching for one that felt right. I picked the deluxe Tele and man it felt good, and played great.
Pete, the chords you said where wrong actually, the B flat 9, that you mentioned actually is B flat flat 13( The chord is flat but also the 13 degree is flat). Its a tritonal sustitute, its basically replaicing the dominant chord of the key, wicth is a altered dominant, with another dominant withc is semitone above the original dominant.
Schwaby69 not really. strats back then were dearer. A new strat was around 2000-2500 back in 1957. still, these are a new excuse to "re vamp" the series as theyre basically the same

Isn't the vintage 6 screw fulcrum bridge better than the 2 point/screw?? Normally I just deck mine and I only owned one 2 point trem years ago... don't recall anything about it. Is it smoother than 6 screw if you are using the trem?
Hi Mick,I watched a video you did on a Taylor guitar NAMM 2015 Taylor 600 series 618e & 614ce electro-acoustic guitar demo. At 2.55 you played a really nice tune,if you have the time could you please tell me what it is,I would be very grateful. Very nice playing by the way.
Also, damn. I have a H-S-H MIM Strat, which coil splits, and am preparing to mod it by changing pickups to some Lollars, and was going to change the neck and middle to single coils. But that H-H Strat sounded so damn awesome on the neck pup I'm now wondering if I'll miss that humbucker.
late reply, but since I can't afford a Tele like Petes purple people eater, saved my $$ for a pro tele, and darned if my mother didn't just buy me the butterscotch pro tele today for my b-day. what an awesome guitar!
Man, when they compared the Standard Strat vs the new Professional model; the American Standard wiped the floor with the new one tonewise. It is 100% warm, thick, creamy tone. Glad Fender is beefing up their necks. My first good guitar was an old Tele and I love it, but from a 'grown up' perspective, that neck is not as comfy as a big hefty 'U' shape like the 52 reissues. It's nice to not have air between the back of your hand and the neck - much more comfy. It has to help them resonate a bit better too...
That ending jam was the best jam of 2016. Hats off to you guys.
Pete has some of tastiest phrasing that I've heard in a while. i love hearing him play.
Micks playing is really reaching new levels. Sounds fantastic.
The best of jams video defo needs to happen!
I always try to look for a review where someone is playing the guitar in the color I want. As if it will affect it's tone.
Haha same. It’s like the review isn’t accurate otherwise
Tottally agree. Tone is in the colour to my view 🤣🤣🤣
It does, because it makes you want to play it and get better at it ;)
Damn, I thought I was the only one lol.
Omg your my twin lol
That last jam was one of the coolest pieces of music I've heard in a long time!!!
I'll take the Butterscotch Tele thanks :0)
You really should get Pete on TPS at some point
Yes, you really should :)
Then you could finally get Pete's Blue Pedal.
Peter Honoré Also get on Sound Like for His Purpleness please.
I feel like you felt jamming w this guy the most. It’s like you guys fed off one another’s tone and experience
October 2019. Still that last part wraps it all up.. Amazing tones gentlemen..
november and still...
There's some fine guitar playing there, thank you very much
That jam was incredible - you guys complemented each other. Absolutely stunning melodic progressions, runs and such a chill vibe overall right for the kind of sounds that Fenders can do so well.
I liked the "Professional" Strat and Butterscotch Tele the best because their tones are so distinct and really shone through.

23.20 onward ... what a jam! Fantastic to hear you play!!!!! Thank you guys.
Great year with you guys! The jamz and banter has been real fellas, have a great year ahead ;)
Oooh, I want that double humbucker Tele. Great sounding jam guys!
those jams were astonishing, so good.
Is there a better duo in youtube than Mick and Pete? Cheers guys. That Sienna burst Strat looks soooo good.
awesome video. Really like that butterscotch tele there. cuts great through whatever amp pete is playing through.
More Mick and Pete next year.
Just bought a Tele deluxe. Awesome!!! The shawbuckers are fantastic, Fender have nailed it.
that last jam guys f....rk, absolutely filthy i dig that vibe....
I've watched this video probably 8 times. And tonight I'm finally watching it after I ordered one of these badass Telecasters. I went with the ash 2 tone burst. Thanks guys for the vids!
I need a Tele in my life. The TV yellow one made me firm.
Mick went away at the end and they replaced him with a demon! Bring back Mick.
Imp, I believe imp is the proper term.
That's what I needed after a study marathon. Great playing once more :)
I'd love to have even half the talent Pete has. Incredible player
Guys! Seriously! Your best. Jam. Ever.
The chord progression sounded like some descending pedal notes behind an Em, but could you be so kind as to specify?
I bought an American Pro Tele and Strat last year from a local shop. they were NOS from 2017. I think they're great! I love the necks on mine, as well as the pups.
Am I the only person who skipped right to the Tele part?
No. Me too. I have one on lay-away at Dietz Music in Omaha, Nebr. White with Rosewood board. Will pay it off on Feb 14,2017`. Rock`On! From Sioux City,Ia.
Ronnie631000 That's the one I want!
No you aren't - I want the Tele too, the non-humbucker version I dare say..
Pharmer David I wish they did one with the hum in the neck and single in the bridge (and a strat middle, but that’s a dream guitar). I’ve never held a guitar that felt so good. Can’t have it all I guess.
Nope, I did as well, not only That I'm expecting a delivery from Sweetwater tomorrow, 2018 Telecaster professional in color black/white LOL!!! 👍😂
This is Andertons ' best show. Killer guitar players and the most clear comparisons. Great. Mick Taylor is the best player and analyst.
As far as the guitars go: that Butterscotch Tele... oh my! That HH Strat... my, my! Cool new line-up from Fender.

loudguy1974 and what about the sound? the new seems a little bit harsh

I can already hear Pete's wife: "But I just recently bought you a tele. Why do you want another one?"
Buy them surreptitiously all the same color. She won't know the difference.
I have a 2019 American Pro series HSS and being a Gibson and PRS player for the past few year's ,I really love the feel of this guitar. I got the Olive green one and it looks great and sound's great. That endind jam was intense. Hats off.
That was one mean jam at the end man. I watched this at 10:38 in the morning and I feel more awake now than I did after my coffee xD
The 2 man tele jam fucking ROCKED!
That was fucking awesome.
Sorry for the language devolution, but that was *fucking awesome*. If I tried to pick out my favorite snippets, this would just be a mess of numerals and colons. Well done gentlemen.
Got a new Strat Pro.. Love it. Pick-ups Clear and vibrant, the neck profile is just so nice !!
GREAT jam!! Looks like you guys really like those new fender professionals😁🎸
What the fuck guys, you made me freaking cry with that intro, it was so beautifully played. Straight outta Riks playboard from Young Enough to Cry.
Best demo test drive ever!!!! More like that, awesome!
I still have my tuxedo '87 American Standard Strat, which I bought brand new in 1988. She's 30 years old this month and is still singing.
Y’all two sound great together, solid playing 👍🏻
Really digging the tele deluxe. Especially with the traditional tele headstock as opposed to the tele deluxe headstock
pleeeeaaasseee do that best of jams thing pete....pleeaaassseee...it will complete my life....
I've no money left - why tease me so!!!???
The butterscotch tele won.
No doubt!!!
Cuts thru much better
I think it's down to the ash body (all the other pro's in this vid are alder). Ash and pine are just like OG tele woods for a reason... Leo knew exactly what he was doing and it hasn't been bettered since
Yes
Absolutely 👍

GigglingDickhead a p90 is a single coil?
GigglingDickhead I do...a p90 is a single coil.
...& I've found I really like the sound. I'll admit, it's limited once you start to drive it real hard, but at mid gain and down I personally think they sound sweet.
P90's are great for higher gain stuff, Greg Anderson of Sunn O))) uses a p90 les paul.
juusie Yeah, I guess my idea of mid gain is a bit high to some. I do drive them. I do find a point though where I feel I loose some of the "fatness" I love about them. But I believe the LP, P90 combo is more versatile than it's credited by most.

You guys make me want to buy these guitars, still planing on the elite series =]
OMG the tones were soooooO good!!
Thanks for another awesome playing!

Thanks for the Danish lesson Pete 17:22
I´ve studied Micks playing so much, I know 90% of his licks now, but can only play 50% of them :D haha
That new olive color on the pro is sick! I love that pea green 70's color. We had a car in that color in addition to our green phone and green shag carpet.
Avocado! Second only to goldenrod in 1974! Gotta love the seventies, those were the days!
excellent review.... they both played a little and talked of the differences and then jammed together with different guitars. Reviews don't get better than that.
In best of jams, You have to go for opening jam from Roland 40 jazz chorus. Superb performance both. Greets from Poland, can't wait for another videos Chaps.
That regular tele with the tchula pedal was a great sound.
the Jam was outstanding !!!

You two are awesome together... Oh and I love the guitarist too.
A little Luther "Never Too Much " , nice. Love your videos though, you guys are awesome musicians. Happy New Year.
I guess I'm the only one that likes that double humbucker strat..
but you know, man, it's really something
Mert Kesim Agreed!
Ah the day will come when I'll have enough money to buy one of those
nice jam at the end
Great session guys! Loved all the guitars and the tones that you were able to get from them.
Amazing jam!!
Fantastic tones on all of those guitars! Toss up between the single coil tele and the single coil strat for me.
I liked the Fender American Professional
Rather late to this but - goodness me - that was how to review a guitar range. Personally, the Tele deluxe appeals most!
Hey fellas, a "best of 2016" jams montage would be a real treat for us while you're out in sunny California. Make it happen! Cheers!
Tele is the one! The sound way cooler than the strats. And the way these cool guys play! Rock on!
I'm a strat guy, but played the tele today at GC...and I can't stop thinking about buying it...lol
I like these guys playing.
That end jam tho 👌🏼🤘🏼
That telecaster is beautiful.
17:28 - Mick's face tells everything :D
I would have loved to hear the HSS strat. Maybe another episode??
I just tried the deluxe Tele one of these...freakin' awesome. I was going to get a Les Paul, but I'm sick of searching for one that felt right. I picked the deluxe Tele and man it felt good, and played great.
Wow nice jam at the end

You must be a jazz guitarist....
I don't know what the chords are dude, I just play them :).
Peter Honoré - hey what's up Danish one?! ✌️
Peter Honoré - I just subbed to your channel by the way. Good videos so far, but you need to post more often. lol
wtf did you just say no need to show off your theory knowledge here
That Tele sounds sublime
Butterscotch tele with Keeley Mod Workstation is soooo good.
These two are the best
Tele + Tchula = Instant Josh Smith tone
These should be called "Fender american Had-to-change-the-name-to-justify-the-yearly-price-increase series"
Wrong, with inflation, new Telecasters and Strats back when they were introduced in the 50's are roughly the same price you would pay today.
Sooooo...
Schwaby69 not really. strats back then were dearer. A new strat was around 2000-2500 back in 1957.
still, these are a new excuse to "re vamp" the series as theyre basically the same
Ricardo, They are not the same. The pickups and neck are completely different to the US standard. they cost around 1300 to 1500 Euros in Germany.. That's not more than they would take for an American Standard back in 2015
Isn't the vintage 6 screw fulcrum bridge better than the 2 point/screw??
I might br mistaken, but the sienna sunburst is Ash body? And maybe thats why its so much more brighter sounding?
Man, when they compared the Standard Strat vs the new Professional model; the American Standard wiped the floor with the new one tonewise. It is 100% warm, thick, creamy tone. The new vmod pickups sound tiny and trebley. It sucks I can't buy the old standard anymore. Damn it! I hate buying used guitars.
Buy the tele Pete!!!!!
great intro!!
Glad Fender is beefing up their necks. My first good guitar was an old Tele and I love it, but from a 'grown up' perspective, that neck is not as comfy as a big hefty 'U' shape like the 52 reissues.
