I remember being in the cinema in Bournemouth watching 'The Spy Who Loved Me' and when the parachute opened the whole audience stood up, applauded and cheered. It was amazing!
I'm laughing so hard at, "Mr Malabrigo Rios" 😂 I'm knitting my first Gansey at the moment, for my Dad's 70th birthday. My 16 year old has dyed the yarn and I'm designing and knitting the actual Gansey. It's a bit brain-frying!
That Darkroom yarn is GORGEOUS, I know it's not what you wanted but WOWZERS that will look good on Dan with his coloring. Just love your podcasts, always look forward to them 🎉
Wow! A Castle Nation was amazing this week!!! Well done! Also, that color of dark teal blue is even better than navy blue. It’ll be great! Fun stripy socks. Pooling happens. Next time just pull it out so you can be happier with it. I agree, not the cutest stripe. 🤷♀️ But sometimes it knits up differently than you think it will. It happens!
Fair warning the woolen spun yarns trap air and can be much warmer than they feel like they would be because they’re so light. You might consider a a blend of Merino and a synthetic fiber. the Sirdar Haworth Tweed is one that may have a blue that could be blue enough though it is not navy. Another might be the drops tweed but the 20% alpaca is forbidding for me.
It looked like Richmond Castle as well as Barnard Castle ( lived near both a number of years ago) - love hearing this history. Also, love the knitting and I am going to have a go at knitting one of your sock patterns Kay. Got the pattern and just need to decide on the wool - then fingers crossed all goes well. 🧶
Kay's speckled sock pattern is lovely. Glad you finally figured it. England a Castle Nation series has been my very favorite. So interesting and well done. Thank you.
England, A Castle Nation is just beyond incredible. For British people, what a beautiful way to relive your history. As an American history nerd, it's cool to get the insights from your research and visual support, furthering what was learned in school. Thanks Dan 😊
Absolutely love the history and stories behind history. Thank you for these insights . Love Bryony’s determination to keep going on a project that’s not what she expected. Thank you both for every episode and all the information you provide.
When describing our daughter, 15 years old, we use the term determined 😂. I refer to myself as stubborn, personally. The look Dan gave you was perfect! Loving all the socks. I couldn't wait until December to wear them, though. Did you hear about the sprouts coming from the stump of the fallen tree at Sycamore Gap? They are hoping the original can be 'replaced' by these or some seedlings from the original. It's amazing what I've learned from your channel. Many thanks from Canada.
"Low Volume" in quilting is: quilts that use colors with low contrast and subdued intensity, or value. I'm a quilter and have never heard this...:>) I always learn something on your show. Thank you!

England, A Castle Nation, fascinating each time I watch! Love all your socks, Kay! Perfection!
Thank you so much!
Yes!!! I totally agree Spy Who Lived Me is the best James Bond movie! Even if my 31 year old son disagrees 😂

Dan have you ever considered making a podcast with just your shows of England and the Castles?

Thanks for sharing Arlene! It’s super interesting isn’t it? Always something new to learn
Newer viewer and wondering who sings your outro. I love it!
Oh my gosh, that Lego Jaws set. Wow
Kay, i have determination, not stubbornness ♡
Hello from Swansea, Illinois.😊
Hi loving the shows. Can you tell me what the difference is between the cubic needles and normal needles. (Apart from the obvious lol)
It is just the obvious - they’re square instead of round 👍🏻 we reviewed them here www.patreon.com/posts/51395540
Is the Gansey yarn you’re thinking off called Frangipani? It’s 5ply Guernsey. Made in UK. I’m using it now actually.
Dan, are your brothers named Dom and Don?!
Haha! No, Dom and Jay - you must be hearing Don when he says Dom ❤️
