My 1st car in 1979 was a 70 Roadrunner, don't feel bad, I was 16, and trashed it totalled drag racing at Milwaukee's lakefront in April of 1980. I still feel shitty about right now, and I'm 60 years old. Cheers!
I'm having a "Dirty Mary Crazy Larry" flashback! They used a bunch of these in all those chase scenes. Its one of my favorite movies and the 72 Polara is one of my favorite cars. Thanks Shed Man... You made my day!
No doubt we are as well! Glad I seen your comment first as I was ready to write one about DMCL as well. In the movie Vic Morrow, the Sheriff, tells Hank to “get on over to Steve’s and pick up that Interceptor”. So when Hank shows up & Steve starts it Hank just has a big grin on his face. “So what’s my Top End” he asks. Then Steve answers “Unlimited”. In reality all those ‘72 & ‘73 Polaras they used & destroyed were actually former CHP cars they had just purchased/picked up in Sacramento. Our favorite scene is when Hank comes to a screeching halt at the intersection & hears all the noise then looks to his left to see the Charger hauling ass out of the woods then he proceeds to pull the gearshift down in low & takes off smoking the left rear tire. That Polara sounded as strong as the Charger did when they were both going hell bent for election after that until Hank ended up clobbering the utility pole & just ruined everything!
Dude, that was BADASS, I love them Fuselage C-Body Mopars, I have a '72 Plymouth Fury 3, 400, 4 barrel, 727, 3.23 8.75 rear!!! Cop car wheels, and full 2.5 inch exhaust with flowmaster mufflers!!! I love these ig Mopars, they're tanks!!! Mopar or no car
The only thing I hated on the one we had was that massive body roll even after the new gas shocks were installed. Comfortable car, but definitely earned the "land yacht" moniker.
Shocks don't control sway or body lean, only speed of wheel movements. This car with just an Addco rear sway bar would really handle better and not lean over nearly as much. It helped my 70 Plymouth Fury 1 440 police pursuit.
The narrow track doesn't help much. I had a '66 Polara hardtop coupe, 383 2bbl. The worst part was the drum brakes. OTOH, that car would drive for miles, no-hands, on the expressway, just wobbling between the lines.

Yes Reinhardt is a mircale. And he played with 2 fingers on left hand. I also think he is grand father of metal, some compositions are clearly in shred style.
