Had a '71 Fury I 4dr as a teenager,but mine was at the opposite side of the powertrain option scale. 440/375 'H.P.',727 Auto. Ex-Trooper Car that became a Fire Chief's car after it was surplused. Parents were sure I was either going to go out in a blaze of glory in it. or get a zillion tickets in it & tried to make me sell it within days. But neither happened. Father years later told me that He & my Mother over time realized having such a car 'Made you a better driver,you can handle a car with some real power'. After I (foolishly) sold it some years later (Guy that bought it was a Mopar collector,just as the 'musclecars' were starting their boom about 40 yrs ago....wasn't really for sale,but he saw it & made me an offer simply too good to turn down?) I later heard that a few years later it was then bought & restored by a retired deputy as a replica of his departments 1971-era Units.
Mine also had that same Blue interior. Clashed with the Red,but it needed a repaint anyway (they did a poor job painting it Red,peeling in spots & sloppy prep) so not long after I got it it was repainted back to being a Black car w/a White roof.

Congratulations, that’s a great survivor car score! In ‘70 the Fury 1 was a base model for Plymouth and that car is in outstanding condition. Not many Slant six, Three on the tree, C-bodies existed much less in the condition yours is in. Nice. 😎

After Ronald Reagan was the gov of Ca Jerry Brown closed the Gov Mansion and got rid of the limo and state driver and slept on the floor and got one of these type cars off the fleet yard had a radio added and then drove it him self to prove everyone had to share in the suffering that budget cutbacks caused after an era of lavish spending by the Reagans. He got elected for times for being frugal with the state budget and this car was part of the pr campaign .

I have to relate a true story,which may puzzle some about Hazel Dicken' writing. Her song Working Girl Blues for example.I was driving up East Burnside and picked up a hitchhiker. She turned to me and said," You know I Am a Working Girl " Of course I stated documenting as only a documentary filmmaker can do all of the green and planed 4X13's I had pulled. 1/3 million trees I had planted,Sun Dance Burn in Idaho with beaner crew all on beans or cross tops..Well you get the picture. Funny, I actually still have a 2000 Dixon 4423. 24 years old and still going strong. My wife gets on the new mower and I will get on the old Dixon to mow up close to the house. It wont win any speed competitions but its solid. And no, once you get the reverse friction transmission adjusted properly it will stay that way for many, many years without having to touch it. I replaced the transmission in mine around 2013 and it still works like new today. Haven't touched it since. They dont build them like that anymore.
