I knew the math wasn’t good for cold weather operation in these EVs. 20gauge steel and single pane windows get you about a 1 R factor. If it’s 20 degrees outside and you want 70 degrees cabin temperature, you’ll need around 13,000 BTUs. At 3412 BTU per 1000 Watts, the battery will drain quickly. What about while your charging at even a fast charge station? Can you run the heat while charging? I doubt it would ever charge up like that. I stopped caring about technology last century, my newest car is 90's designed, I like valve amps for my Jazzmaster and Ric, I like adjusting points, I like having a spare wheel in my car, i like vynil records, and i like being able to turn my car lights on and off myself. I also like seeing modern cars broken down on the side of the road because its run out of washer fluid or the tyre pressure warning light told the driver to STOP! As for EV's - the more people start hating them the sooner we can get back to petrol -fun 😉
I believe that too much technology is not a good thing. At the end of the day, it’s still a mechanical device no matter how much computer controlled servo and sensors they put in front of it. That Scout is 55 years old. Do you think these EVs made today will still be going when they are that old? Also, I’ve never had to download an update for the old girl!
