i was a kid in the early 70s and those starters sounded like paul mcbeadle's song BAND ON THE RUN. In the winter i could here all the neighbors wives trying to start those pigs without flooding the carb,
I hear ya. I love the dashboard too. We had a 66 Polara 4 dr in 73-74, I loved it.65-66 had the same dash I used to sneak it out at night, yrs later my mom said she knew 😣 I was only 13 and I can tell you it drove excellent. I always snuck out the next 2 cars she had 😂 66 Comet Caliente 4dr and early 70's Comet.
My folks bought a white with wood 383 4bbl. 727 Torqueflite 9 passenger wagon brand new. It is the first car of there's that i drove at 16-17 years of age. That thing would burn a patch 100 yards long if gently switch backed .
Love the car! I actually miss driving an old car with an iffy carb that likes to fight you just to get running smoothly! I had a '59 Fairlane that started like this, but ran wonderfully once she warmed up. ...'73 Continental as well that I still have. I'm HOPEFULLY about to purchase a 4 door '66 Polara with the 383 very soon...I can't wait to cruise in another land yacht!
I had a 66 Polara with a 383 in 1975 I drove from Philly to Miami when I went to college.
My licence plate was WARP 9
Man, those old Chrysler starters made a sound all their own.

Freaken great man. Congrats to you and thanks for saving her.
I grew up in this car. And this is exactly how it sounded. The starter, the exhaust.
Great car with unique lines love that dash!

Exhaust Sounds similar to my friends 68 rambler rouge w/ a straight six, true tractor sound.
