same set up i have in my dart except the radiator i have is out of a caravan put mufflers makes the car sound alot cleaner
You could build a 400 winter block. A very under square engine, more so than the 340 I believe. Largest bore of any Mopar v8. Would be interesting to see how high you can make it rev.
Why so many hood pins, does that scoop have that much up force? Very cool Barracuda. I have a 66 with a 1970 318 with the stong crank. I think im going to pull it out and start asking you questions. 👍

318 was one of best engines ever far as out lasting any engine they had a nickname of my little trusty 318 .
First of all, why would you stroke out a 318 block when a 360 is the same exact size motor with the bigger crank and a way better block way better block much more nickel in it that’s a fact, 340 and 360 Mopar high nickel content, and that strokes to 400 in.³ that’s a fact the mains are smaller in a 318 block you can break at 3:18 block doing exactly what you’re doing here 340 or 360 never
I have personally owned 11 318s in my life absolutely reliable
318 stroker is a fun motor to build using a 360 crank. It comes out to be about 349 cubic inches. It will be my next build

X blocks were 318's R3's were 340's My X made 678 @ 7200 My R3 made 829 at 7900 . car weighed 3850 with driver went 10.67 @128. X had rectangle port Batten heads 668 solid roller. R3 had CNC indy rectangle port 705 solid roller.
Youth is wasted on the young. You need lessons on exactly what powershifting is youngin'.
A hallow crank and detonation equal disaster
Looks Like crank failed do to bad harmonics. I don't know what brand of dampener you are using, but there are fluid filled ones used for very high RPM that might prevent this from happening again.
When I raced my 73 Charger stock car i often ran boneyard engines and I never noticed any real performance difference between 318s and 360s.
What cam is in that this sounds great

Ive built a few stout 318's and 360's but i always loved the little 318's
The 318 would be a lot cheaper to build than a 340. 340 parts are expensive. If your only goal is performance and can afford it, go with the 340. Otherwise go with the 318, it's a good choice. I've never been a fan of the 360. Sorry guys.

Hello Gary, my name is Dennis, I just watched your video on the 318 and 340,I have a 98 dodge ram 1500 and I ordered it with the 318 I've always liked small block engines, my believe it or not has over 465, thousand miles on it and she is still running. I plan to restore her, but I want her to move guts, I thought of changing to a 360 and adding twin turbos. What are your thoughts? I would appreciate your advice. Thanks, Dennis

That should never happen, parts installed incorredtly or machined incorrectly or just cheap ass parts
Do you know why it failed? I've never seen the front of a block blow out.
I can tell you. No oil mods to block to prevent front main from running out of oil. It went solid and blammo

I knew the second I looked which is which ,the outer side walls are a quick giveaway ,they are shorter on a 318 of course Small blocks have the Engine size stamped on them,I have a 72 340 6 pack Challenger 71 motor and not a TA block I also have a early 318 230HP without a car to put it in right now
